Because it only works in water which has the worst attacks of any attunement its obviously only useful for conjured weapons.
not exactly. you can cast churning earth/fire grab/dragon’s tooth/phoenix etc and than swap to water to have the damage boost on those pre casted skills.
It’s called Legendary for a reason. It’s supposed to be only wielded by those that have succeeded in many aspects of the game, not just one. If you could get it by grinding COF I’d be kittened. There’s a reason why more people don’t have them. They’re expensive sure, but also require you to accomplish things. Gasp…you mean I have to earn it? Yep.
legendary’s stopped being legendary the day they became sellable on the TP. these days it means, hey im the one that keeps the prices high on the TP so everyone else has to buy their items for more money. if you want to prove anything in this game its mini liadri. even most titles barely have any meaning.
Necros remain the ONLY profession in the entire game without Practical Stability (with the exception of the one cleanse, lich #5).
so how does thief get practical stability? and dont say lyssa runes because you have that option to. you also have the option to trait for http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Foot_in_the_Grave wich gives you 3 secconds of stability each time you enter DS, combined with boon duration you can have 60% stability uptime.
the legendary rifle “the predator” causes this effect. yes he has a eternity greatsword on his back but some players know how to “bug out” certain effects so they appear constantly.
now a skritt finisher that comes to steal the corpse you just killed

cant we just add little bonusses to the other 6 gathering tools? like getting spores with the dreamcleaver and passiflora with the consortium harvesting sickle or something? or would this start the same discussion for all the people who never bought those tools because they didnt have the options back than.

i was doing a story line mission and i had to kill this supply cart. than i noticed there’s conditions on it. why is this not the case with other objects in the game? leveling my necromancer to 80 was hell because of this.
i dont understand the reduced poison duration on shortbow 4 for thief. in the livestream they said the same for engineer poison granades and it was being nerfed because of “shotgunning” (standing on top of your target and throwing them at your feet). for an engineer this creates 3 poison aoe and the poison adds up fast. for thief tho, you would need to be spamming the poison wich costs 4 initiative. no thief can afford to spam this. i wont complain tho since the change wont effect me much, i just dont understand why they changed it.

you can already buy levels for your pve characters trough pvp. 1500 glory and 20 silver per level. also crafting your way to 80 cant be done for now since you only get 7 lvls for reaching 400 since the cap was moved up to 500. once cooking and jeweler are 500 you could but it would be VERY expensive, towards 1000 gold i’d say.

Just get the Ricochet trait from Trickery. Get Mug, Executioner, 10% more dmg from pistols, Furious Retaliation. From trickery get the Adept trait that gives fury/swiftness/might + steal dazes opponent for 1second as grandmaster trait.
with a pistol build wouldnt it be more logical to keep kiting your opponent? and not invest that heavily in steal that would bring you to your target? personally i’d say get the caltrops from trickery and invest abit in acrobatics to increase dodging since p/p has no acces to stealth. for the rest just take the pistol related traits.

runes: lyssa runes with basi venom or ruby orbs.
sigils: fire/force and maybe a extra weapon to stack bloodlust.
other weaponset usually shortbow for the mobility but other options are open if you like,
utility: thats up to you. populair utility is shadow refuge, blinding powder, infiltrator signet, shadowstep, assassins signet.
Dishing out near 50k from a couple attacks shouldn’t have a counter? Retaliation works because it is a soft counter to AoE spam. This game is already way too AoE heavy so lets not remove/reduce the very few things that counter it.
counter? sure. but than whats the reason of those skills if i just die by using them, im not going to use meteor storm in a 1v1. i’d say the 3 seccond cast time of MS is enough for you to counter it.

no offence but when your 10 vs 50 your supposed to lose ;p if your own zerg wasnt doing the same at their towers/keeps than you might be able to defend it.

I’m pretty certain those 10-20k damages come from you being blind. I’m playing 100b zerker warrior (right, noob according to most of you, don’t care, phat numbers) and I’m usually the first to get in a zerg and spam whirl/100b and bow F1/#3. Needless to say its more likely for me to die in 1on1 against tanky warrior than I am against a zerg with my server’s zerg
Your 100b doesnt even come close to the amount of targets i hit with meteor storm and ice bow. take icebow for example, its 24 individual iceblocks that each hit 5 targets. and no im not blind, there was no incomming damage except from retaliation.

I drop meteor storms on zergs, and while they hurt, they probably do 10k damage to me max, which I can burst heal just by switching to water attunement. Most of that damage is nullified by being next to guardians when they’re dodge rolling. I’m also using zerker trinkets and have more health than you, so you’re probably not all geared up or using the right trait build for zerging (You NEED 30 in the water trait when zerging as an ele)
Retaliation is a great mechanic to fight against greater numbers. Don’t nerf it.
im running 0/10/0/30/30 old D/D bunker spec swapped a few traits around and its great for zergs. im full exotic with all ascended trinkets, some PVT trinkets and theres 2 that have healing power instead. the amount of retaliation comming in doesnt even allow me to burst heal because im dead before the healing skill is done casting (glyph).

who else thinks that retaliation in big zerg fights is overpowered? i press 2 buttons and die in 3 secconds without getting hit by anything but retaliation. i believe a damage cap per X time could be a good solution here. if your wondering, im running a PVT staff ele with about 18k hp. toughness wont help me against retaliation, so what else does? note that not hitting the zerg is not an option.
you should never, ever expect NPCs to hold their weight.
lol there’s this 1 story line mission in Orr where you get a few npc’s with snipers with you iirc, those are just epic XD
Show dmg numbers (other than condi dmg) when you strike a stealthed foe.
IRL if you hit something with your eyes closed…. you would be able to know it was there once you struck it… and if it moved you wouldn’t know where it went…. but you would still know you hit something.
this is already in the game, when you wield a melee weapon and you press 1 alot when their in stealth it will repeat the 1st attack over and over, when you hit something it will go to the 2nd and 3rd attack of the attack chain. aditionally there are some profession specific ways to tell if your hitting your opponent while he’s in stealth. for example if a thief has signet of malice equiped he will see himself getting healed everytime he hits a stealthed player.

no im not, im playing every profession. i just think that P/P on thief looks awesome with unload but there’s never been a good solid build with it. people complain its “just pressing 3 over and over” same as with venoms, “you press them all at once so your team gets all venoms and than your useless for 45 secconds”. this spreads out venom use.
Interesting idea, but venoms should be venoms. You coat your weapons with them before a fight to gain an advantage against a foe; similar to traps.
On the other hand, increased combo chance on projectiles is a very good idea, and I can see this implemented as a master trait, either for CS or DA, which have terrible master tiers.
i agree with you that venoms should be aplied to the weapon beforehand but the way this currently works just doesnt see much play. with that i think that throwing venom on the ground to create a poisonous area is still a good way of using venoms. if this wouldnt happen the combo chance on projectiles is kind of pointless because you would have no fields to combo with. also, what is CS or DA?
Warrior longbow has a 10 point adept trait which makes its attacks have 100% finisher chance, even on their skill 2 which normally isn’t a finisher at all, and also on their autoattack which has 2 projectiles.
the 50% is just an example, also i dont think it matters much for the warrior because what aoe fields can they make besides the one on the longbow? this 50% on thief will have a much bigger impact than the 100% on warrior has.
many people find dual pistol a bit weak so i was thinking of a way to change that and here’s what i came up with.
in the deadly arts trait line, one of the grandmaster traits has to change.
one of them should increase projectile finisher chance. i have no idea to how much but lets just say increase by 30%, that would be 50% in total.
now venoms should be aoe’s like wells from necromancers. once activated it creates an aoe field at the thief’s feet. each venom field has its own unique condition like the venoms now have. people can shoot trough the fields for projectile finishers (unload) to fill their targets with conditions. ally’s can get stacks of venom by standing in it. (1 stack every seccond). this stack is a different condition than what the field itself pulses.
than we need a trait somewhere that drops “gunk” on the floor when you steal, automatically. this gunk should be created at the target of your steal, not at the place where you press steal. so after stealing you and your target are standing in the gunk field. (possible target for this trait is to just add it to the “improvisation” trait, or the “quick venoms”, or the “potent poison”)
now you have aoe condition fields to shoot trough and suddenly your a P/P condition pistolier or something. this works great with the deadly arts trait line since its power and condition damage. you can also make good use of the 25 minor trait Exposed Weakness: Deal more damage if your target has a condition.
i have no idea what to do with the healing and elite venom tho xD. maybe the healing venom could be a waterfield so you can shoot regeneration around for your team.
all in all i think this build is easy to ballance. if there’s to much condi preasure comming from this spec than they could adjust the projectile finisher % trait. it has nice synergy with steal with that gunk field. so people might go for a short cooldown steal.
let me know what you people think of it.
when thinking of this build i kept in mind that changing any pistol skills is not realy an option as this would mess up other builds. pistol 2 could change tho. just add the immobilize to pistol 4 when you hit from behind or somthing.
maybe shortbow #5 could create a smoke field like off-hand pistol does. could be usefull for stealth, or blinding people on top of walls in wvw for example.
lol today i (a thief) and 3 other thiefs ended up in the same team, than our 5th guy joined and he was a warrior. first thing he said in team chat “lol should i switch to thief?” and we all agreed he should :p. 5 thiefs blasting on the other team and we won :p
anyone of you has tips for defeating a mesmer when im with dagger pistol? stealth is abit harder to get, not to mention more expensive

this could have a HUGE impact on the game. currently the game is being balanced around everyone having those 70 points. 5 points extra could realy screw that up. but i must confess, i have thought about it myself :p

If I were Anet, I’d never remove this cash cow and gold sink. Even not if you’d pay me, because you pay even more the common way.
actually if they were acount bound i would have a reason to collect every dye out there and i would considder buying the dye’s they put in the gemstore like with flame and frost and the toxic dye set. now i would need to do that 9 times and that just isnt going to happen.
last I heard there were four teams who take turns releasing their content, with a release every two weeks each team has two months between releases, assuming they have one of those four teams working on pvp rewards and factoring in the Christmas vacation where we miss a two week release, I would guess we should see a pvp rewards update in about two and a half months. though it is possible I’m missing something. but dev’s never comment on time frames so that’s probably about as close a guess as we are going to get.
those 4 teams are for the living story ONLY.
I don’t know what to do with living story AP. Lost for lots of people forever. Like a gw1 AP =D
but maybe Devs can create separate opening event with repeated advances for those who missed the living history.

strange, i was wondering why goldsellers still tried, every time i get a whisper from them the website name is 2 dots “.” with lots of empty spaces between them.
thats it, so i thought they had been taken care of. why would they even send whispers if thats all i see. maybe not being able to whisper could be tied to achievement points because all goldsellers have 0 of them.
edit: makes me think, cant they do something about the website thats selling gold instead of having to change their game?

removing the ability to get those finishers seems like a bad idea to me if they are looking for ways to improve rewards. cuz whats more awesome than having those pop up when you finish someone? some fancy title just wont cut it.

yeah i know wvw rank should be acc bound. wvw is kinda alt unfriendly
wvw needs a tutorial for newcommers so they know what to do and what not to. furthermore dropping siege should not be allowed by players rank X and below. same for riding gollems like frans said. also rank X and below should not be able to take suply from anything but suply camps.

i would like to see chill do damage if the one chilled is also burning. just like when something very hot is cooled down very fast it cracks.

all of them, if not for actually using them in pvp, just for testing them since testing a runeset in pve can get quite expensive. especially when it doesnt have the effect you were looking for.
i had this bug today not 5 hours ago.
just add awesome pve rewards in pvp chests, like good looking skins you can only earn in spvp, than you will have way more pvpers

reading the new incomming fractals update got me super exited since im at about scale 25 and another character somewhere around 12. but yeah to all the people that reached 80 or went to 40+ on multiple characters this all seems like a major punch to the face. especially because of some leaderboards that nobody ever asked for. stuff like this shouldnt be about competing against each other. why couldnt they just add some titles to certain thresholds to show how “good” someone is in fractals.
something to increase stack size acount wide from 250 to ???. Also the stacks in the collectables tab
