Same thing just happened to the map I was in, if it closes on a bunch of people in an active map this is going to be ludicrous lol. Talk about game-breaking bugs…
There used to be an item in the gemstore that would allow you to reset your trait lines anywhere in the world, before they made this permanent. Why not introduce an item that does the same but refunds the points you’ve spent on WvW ability lines? This could make ArenaNet a bit more money, and if/when they release the next WvW tournament instead of auto-wiping everyone’s points, you get mailed a refund item that you can CHOOSE to use to refund your points.
I bring this up because, as someone who’s spent enough time in WvW to buy all of the upgrades, it’s annoyingly cumbersome to have to click fifty times on every character I want to play in WvW just to spend all my points. It made sense that when they redid the ability system to reset points, but from now on it would be immensely helpful if we didn’t have to spam a bunch more clicks on a dozen plus tiny tiny rectangles to get back to full strength every time there’s a reset. This would be a solid quality of life improvement and possibly a bit of revenue for ANet.
Thoughts?
I didn’t see it in the patch notes anywhere so I’m assuming it’s either a bug or a questionable ninja update. After a match ended you were usually kicked back to the lobby after 15 seconds or so. Now you have to manually leave or wait two minutes. This wouldn’t be so annoying if the button in the lower right got you out without having to move your mouse back to the middle of the screen to accept for whatever reason they decided to put that in… At least they added a button to leave on the score screen, but really? Was the community really clamoring to have 2 minutes post-match to fight? Please change it back guys, this game has enough clicking already lol.

It was annoying having to click runes six times to put them on our gear just to change out a set. Plus they specifically designed runes to generally work best when you have all 6 of them anyway. It might seem over-simplified, but it’s a hell of a lot easier to switch between builds now.
You obviously haven’t been playing Stronghold enough if you don’t comprehend the importance of points in a stalemate game :P
Sigh… if neither lord dies when the timer ends the team with the most points wins. You really didn’t know that? Also how the hell are you supposed to be able to pick up enemy supply that they didn’t even have in the first place? How does that make sense??? I swear to God the forums are getting worse every day. Once this “beta” is over I’m staying as far away from this mindless garbage as I can lmao
I thought it was a bug too, but unlike some channels normal hits don’t interrupt that channeling. It’s pretty ridiculous and I hope when stronghold comes out they don’t let you channel while in a Transformation because it’s kind of dumb; Plague necros might become a mandatory part of the meta if they don’t address this.
I’ve wanted the same thing for a long time when I played Elementalist. The main reason I feel they never implemented this and probably never will is because it would be too “confusing” to newer players.
“omgz my wapon swap bugged on ele an enge pls halp?”
We would see this garbage everywhere. Still, the QOL for people who spend the ten seconds required to learn that eles can’t weapon swap in combat would be absolutely amazing. I’d want to play my ele more if I could do this.

It’s more time-consuming but the best way to really understand what other classes’ strengths and weaknesses are is to play them yourself. You don’t even have to level them up; you can go to the PvP lobby right after the new character tutorial and try out their skills and builds. However, if you go straight into matchmaking and don’t know what you’re doing your team might not be very happy about that. Custom arenas are generally a good place to start, or even fighting the training NPCs can give you a feel for how it works.
No one in a PvP match is worth communicating with. Turn your /say and /map chats off-
This. At some point you’ll come to accept that if you can’t handle enemy chat or you just don’t want to see whatever garbage they may or may not be spewing (most of the time it is) you’ll suck it up and stay in a team/guild chat tab. It’s not that hard man. You’re not gonna change the world with a short forum post, but you can change the crap you expose yourself to. Everyone has to learn the hard way sometime. I was in your position once back when I played other games. In GW2 I haven’t played a single matchmaking game watching /say or /map chat because why the hell would you do that unless you wanted to listen to kids saying stupid crap? This is the internet man! And you should probably have figured out by now that PvP just brings out the worst in people, true story.
Oh, it’s good to see game forums living up to their rep. “Proof” of badness thanks to a bug you’re not willing to accept. That really sucks man, did you even try logging in and out? Contact support? Whining about it on the forums with pretentious titles doesn’t really accomplish that much except make you look silly. And this should go in the bugs section.
I played 15+ games tonight and never had more than a 5 minute wait, sometimes got matched in ~10 seconds. People need to take a lil while to chill before they go rampaging on the forums like this lol
What the hell? People are seriously QQing about Stronghold when there was such a positive reaction to the first beta? Jesus Christ lol… smh.
I’d rather always have something to do in a match than sit on a stupid point and watch a circle fill up. Stronghold is the type of game mode this kind of game needs to make pvp more interesting. And if you’re really going to cry your eyes out about “pve” in a pvp game mode, take 5 minutes to think about the most popular game in the world. That’s right, in every single League of Legends match you are PvE’ing against enemy creeps, jungle creeps, towers, dragon, baron, you get the idea. Thing is, that’s nowhere NEAR as engaging as PvE in an mmo where enemies actually have more mechanics than spamming the same attack until they die. But everyone puts up with it for the big “team fights” in the end. Stronghold is not much different, except it happens in the span of at most 15 minutes. And if you’re still going to throw a fit about everyone “rushing lord” before the game mode is actually released, you’re just out of your mind. Good luck winning every game doing that. I played a match tonight where the enemy broke down our inner five minutes before we got theirs and we turned around and won. Jesus Christ, complaining about a game before it’s even released and an actual meta develops… I don’t freaking even.
Sigh, I can’t believe I actually have to explain this. Every time I go on the forums to post something I see some stupid thread with a bunch of crying going on. It makes you wonder why the hell people who complain so much are still playing the game. Doesn’t make sense lol.
I noticed something that I didn’t in the previous Stronghold beta. In the Lord’s room when the Elite guards cast Swirling Winds, it seemed to block “unblockable” projectiles which the Elementalist’s Swirling Winds skill does not. Is this a bug? If not, can there be some way for the general player base to know the exact mechanics behind the Elite guards’ skills that make them work in ways that are drastically inconsistent with the other parts of the game? It’s just strange seeing the same visual effect yet the spell having different properties.
It’s so annoying when your friend list can see that you are playing even if you are in Invisible Mode. It’s pointless to have that option if doesnt work correctly.
I’m not sure if it’s a bug or they wanted it like that.
Also, what’s the point to have “Invisible” option if I can’t use it before log? They should add it before log like on GW1 and other games.
What? Your friends can’t see you when you’re invisible. You’re invisible. You don’t show up as online lol, what’s the confusion? Also what’s up with the necroing of this thread… smh
I wish you could still interact with guild chat. And it’s weird that you can send pm’s but not receive them. Very strange and inconsistent, like a lot of things in this game. Oh ArenaNet, if only they had more staff
I’ve never understood why they didn’t implement a sort of trials/skulls/optional hardmode for dungeons with additional rewards like WP has suggested. They could even make interesting difficulty settings, like you take damage if you’re too close to other players. This wouldn’t even require any substantial new content creation on their part. Offering more challenges to players using existing content isn’t too far of a stretch from their current philosophy of inspiring players to keep playing “old” content.
How are you mechanically incapable of jumping? Buy a new keyboard? Jumping isn’t that hard; you just press the spacebar.
Hahah Dawnbreaker is still salty about the scoreboard some guy brought up in his first thread xD
1. F2P PvP/numbers
2. Seemed like the consensus used to be that Conquest was just boring. Watching people sit on points. Stronghold maybe? Who knows.
3. Bigger PvP community.
Whoa, did you actually suggest giving instant reward points for a player leaving? You do realize that matchmaking would probably turn into a bunch of kids yelling at someone to leave so everyone else can get easy free points right?
Sigh, people who don’t think their ideas through… smh
I think you just need to change up your play; you’re getting hit for 18k+ from those Vapor Forms.
/s
Can confirm, have muted game sound permanently because of these.
Also Tron backpack. And Quip. And the Dreamer. And Salvage-o-matic.
God freaking kitten Arenanet. Last time I checked, discouraging your players from hearing your game’s sound = doing it wrong. Get it together.
Is it unfair? Yes.. But that is life.
Uhm this is a videogame.
Yes, and human beings are the ones playing it. Thus, it’s still life.
This; same rules apply. Everyone happy = impossible.
Who would win in a fight? Debate!
No scoreboard this time, it’s not a Dawnbreaker vs Anet topic
The Dovahkiin hasn’t been born in Tyria (yet); stopping Alduin would be impossible.
Bethesda: 1. Anet: 0. Dawnbreaker: -1.
I really hope they address their RNG/loot system by the time HoT comes out. Even a hybrid system would have its merits. Just think: we’re practically getting mailed gold every single day just by logging in. Log-in rewards are zero-effort, 100% gain. Slowly but surely they’re contributing to inflation.
Would it really be so gamebreaking to have the choice of one account-bound precursor every time your account has a birthday? They’ve got to have records of that sort of thing. This would solve a lot of the QQ about playing for years with hundreds of Mystic Forging attempts with no precursor, and it wouldn’t even contribute to inflation like Log-in rewards if the precursor we got was account-bound like they will be from collections in HoT.
Edit: legendaries still cost 1000+ gold even if you get a precursor for free, which you can if you’re lucky. Legendaries crafted from birthday precursors might have to be account-bound like the new HoT legendaries will be, unless they change that.

This is like complaining about players using food because it gives them more stats than you. Why not whine about that? I WvW all the time and I never use food out of laziness and frugality, but I always use Bloodlust. It’s free food.
(edited by Mal.1670)
Because dragon magic?
I support Air and Fire working like Leeching where the effect can be blocked/dodged. Trickier to implement but it could be done. As much as I hate to say it, making sigils like those all on weapon swap might actually be a good idea. Loath to say it ‘cause you don’t always want to switch asap.
Yeah it is pretty obnoxious. However it’s hilarious as hell to play ranger. I do that sometimes, especially when I want to annoy people and relieve stress. In fact I might go do that right now
The other thing to consider is that if you’re playing zerk ranger, you have basically no survivability. Get up close and make them melt; that’s how you do it.
What? You made a whole post about it but didn’t even offer a suggestion to prevent “people like that from queueing”. You do realize you’re basically showing the same mentality as the people you’re condemning? A bit hypocritical lol.
My 2 cents: queueing would be a lot better if you were matched with people of a similar rank. Just got matched with a totally new player who was either downed or dead every time I saw him on the map. Ranger too, fancy that. Matchmaking already takes long enough to find players though. Making it longer to find better games… sigh, I might actually support that.
(edited by Mal.1670)
As long as you have more than 0, points mean absolutely nothing in terms of calculating your pvp rewards. If you’re worried about people belittling you for having less points, you’re running with the wrong crowd.
I do agree with your point though. If you were periodically awarded points for sitting on a capped point it would feel more rewarding and encourage players to defend. Totally meaningless for the game but would actually be pretty cool.
Well the fix looks pretty good so far, and we’re on track soooooooo…
“supa soon” is all I am going to say here. If it fails last minute please don’t poison my coffee… I need it for life ._.
Don’t get too comfortable, poisoning is what thieves do best
Also, hotjoins have a system that decreases your pvp rank points and reward track progress if you joined a match halfway through for instance. I don’t see why it would be difficult to do something similar for Courtyard. I understand why they made the rewards system this way, giving zero rewards if you finish a match with 0 points. That deters afking, but it also punishes worst-case scenarios in Courtyard. Getting nothing for a game that’s impossible to win and getting killed for eight freaking minutes straight is just- well, you get the idea.
Again, my issue isn’t so much with getting stuck with 4v5 or 3v5 garbage in PvP. That’s an entirely different problem. The point of this post is regarding the broken PvP rewarding criteria specifically regarding Courtyard and team deathmatch style gameplay in which it can be literally impossible to score any points = get no rewards for playing = might as well say screw it and go afk = horrible design. Capiche?
(edited by Mal.1670)
Did you read my post? In Conquest you can back-cap or decap points VERY quickly when the team is elsewhere. It’s very common for players to leave unguarded points and insanely easy to do. Even 1v5 I can probably get at least 10 points in any match. That will NEVER happen in Courtyard, EVER. In Conquest you get points for decapping and capping, as well as kills and doing map objectives like hitting with the treb or killing trebs. Courtyard doesn’t have points to cap/decap OR map objectives. This is different in every way possible than Conquest. Did I really have to explain that?
If there was something like viewing ranked matches in progress like a certain moba does, that would be amazing. Watching players who know what they’re doing play is so helpful for new and old players alike.
No, and no? 5 man guild teams actually aren’t that common, at least at my ranking. And if you’re high enough ranking that level of coordination is the best way to play the game anyways. There are plenty of times that pug teams I’m on stomp guild groups. It’s actually really funny to watch them lose.
If you give up every match because you see a guild team you will autolose.
So, we get Courtyard in Unranked matchmaking. Some guy dc’s. Another person gives up. 3v5 the whole match. Even if we down someone on the enemy team, they just rez and we get no kills = no points. Even if you were playing THE WHOLE MATCH you get zero rank points or reward track progress if you end the match with zero points. That kitten is broken.
There are some times I love this game. This is not one of those times. Having to deal with broken garbage that the devs put in place as a catch-all that punishes legitimate play is not fun for anyone. Please just remove Courtyard from the matchmaking if you’re going to punish players stuck in a terrible team situation who can’t do anything 3v5. I’m just going to go AFK the next time I’m stuck in Courtyard and we’re down a player on our team. There’s actually no point in playing at that point if you can’t get any points for rewards and THAT is terrible game design.
Yeah, there is a bug that reveals you whenever you leave stealth. Also randomly while in Shadow Refuge which is ridiculous. Arenanet really released the definitive patch of 2015, such content much wow.
>_<
I often play thief but this is actually a great time to kill thieves in pvp thanks to this garbage, take advantage of it while you can!
Omg this keeps happening to me. I didn’t lose any loot as far as I know but this is just terrible for the game. Practically unplayable for some people. I’ve never been too bothered by Arenanet’s code screw-ups with patches but this is by far the worst I’ve ever seen. I hope this gets fixed ASAP.
Let it be one of the PvP dailies and have it award PvP track progress.
If this was the case I would do activitys again.
This. If we can get PvP rewards from hotjoins, why not activities?
The thing is, we’d expect them to have released the blog post about the Necro specialization and have some minor patch with fixes and removing portal drops, which they said would be leaving this week.
It’s not Tuesday anymore and nothing. It’s understandable some players are confused.
Giving races more of a distinct identity beyond just being really small or really big would be awesome. I liked WP’s idea of Racial Specializations, and it’s probably the sort of thing we’ll never see or at least not until they think about adding new races but it would add an interesting new element of Tyrian racial immersion the likes of which we really don’t have at the moment.
Yeah, it feels a bit off but it’s better than them going back to Paragon or something. It fits with the longbow and traps at least.
I have never heard this sort of complaint from anyone. If you actually encounter this why not just tell them to play another class? It really is that simple.
So I have practically over two full bank tabs of Dragonite Ore stacks and I really don’t make ascended equipment anymore. I wouldn’t mind another scavenger hunt like we had to get Mawdrey II, in fact that was one of my favorite “PvE” updates in recent times. I’m a bit disappointed about the way the Star of Gratitude was released being an event-only item; as a player I would be quite upset about not being able to get such a significant item until next December. I know most of the dev team is probably working their butts off on the expansion but there has to be someone who’s taken notice of all the excess Dragonite players are accumulating.
If the trait change is coming before HoT why not the final ascended omnomer? Anyone else filling up bank/bag space with Dragonite? (cough SW chest farm coughcough)
Why can’t every class use every weapon and infinite weapon skill builds for everyone and world peace?
I wouldn’t mind another main hand for mesmer, though…
Just buy a new account. You’ll get dozens of precursors. Mine did.
Dozens? Pics or it didn’t happen for realsies lmao.
I’ve ran VW on 5+ different characters including ones I haven’t pve’d with in over a year and got no significant loot changes. I got an exotic with one character and thought there might be something to it, but on my main I sometimes looted back-to-back rares and the occasional exotic from drops and champ bags. It doesn’t seem unlikely that there is some B.S. loot impartiality to new accounts which is kind of kittened but whatever, if I wanted loot that badly I’d buy a new account and test it out. I don’t care about that crap, I just want to build my one account as best as I can. Which with a system of obnoxious loot impartiality would suck but hey, I play this game mostly for the fun combat.
But seriously, w t f @ someone getting two zaps in a month from mystic forge. What the hell lol
It doesn’t seem unreasonable to feel that “RNG is borked” when there are people looting a beta portal within 15 minutes and people who’ve farmed for 30+ hours and never seen one drop. ’Nuff said.
The implications of this thread are very frustrating and really just kitten me off. I’m one of those players who’s been playing for about two years and never seen a precursor drop. I’m willing to believe that there is some sophisticated system for DR that may be character-bound, which is kind of idiotic really. I might try farming with different characters and see how my drops change.
Nope, definitely rats.
