I’d love to see some kind of system like wow’s where there is a weekly points flush depending of your rank position.
These points would be spend to buy the coolest skins in the game, ofc.
Grouch wrote 1 or 2 weeks ago in the ele forum that we would get positive changes and that they would be previewed in this ready up and in forum pre-patch notes. While my faith in Arenanet certainly is almost broken after last year, I do believe in Grouch.
If they won’t go over any positive ele changes tomorrow, I’ll throw a tantrum though

Since june’s balance patch when the condi meta began and Elementalist turned to be unplayable devs have been avoiding to talk about the class. Every time there’s a balance stream or a Q&A people ask about ele changes but we never get a response to these questions.
Many people are disappointed with this situation so every now and then an “ele” topic pops in both the Structured PvP and Profession balance forums. All of them have been ignored. So far I have counted more than 10 extensive topics with very valid ideas to fix the class but none of them got any response yet.
I really thought the new subforum would bring an interesting discussion with the devs but it didn’t happen at all.
I’m not really asking for buffs or anything, I just want to know if there’s any planned changes before I decide to leave this sinking ship. The class has been extremely weak for half a year and Anet’s silence is really annoying.
I also think that if they shared their ideas before implementing them, unintended nerfs like december’s 10th would have never happened.
So what will happen at the Ready up show? Will they even mention the class?

No one said anything about nerfing ele’s but I’ll use your logic. Since no one uses diamond skin would it be considered a nerf if they removed it completely?
My post was just an example of a hard counter that doesn’t really have a place when looking at the game from a balancing standpoint. One trait should not create a 100% win rate against a certain spec.

I would have paid a fee for the game GW2 should have been.

Inconsequent classdesign is the biggest weakness of the elementalist.
There is absolutely nothing which balances the lack of survivability, low health pool, low damage, too situational weaponskills and the weakness of several weapons (focus having too big cooldowns, is not direct enough; staff – WAY too slow or too little damage).
There must be something which balances weakness in general. I just see one thing which “kinda” tries to balance the whole situation as far as I understood ArenaNet by reading patch after patch: 4 elements instead of 2 weaponsets.
Sadly all of those elements are just weaker than usual weaponskills of other professions.

Which mechanic do you think Elementalists should capitalize on as their main “source” of survivability?IMHO auras should be rebalanced to function as true active defenses for elementalists. Shocking Aura already does that for melee attackers, the problem is conditions and ranged attackers coupled with the fact that the only anti-range aura is staff exclusive.
I don’t understand why we have no glyph that simply gives us an aura depending on attunement, opening up all auras for all weapon choices.

We agree. There were some PvP-only changes for professions that made sense in a previous meta, but not so much now. I expect we’ll be looking very closely at some of these skills over the next few weeks.
Especially eles
The changes I would make:
- Elemental Attunement: Removed
Fire minor adept: When you attune to fire, you gain 2 might.
Water minor adept: When you attune to water, you gain regeneration
Air minor adept: When you attune to air, you gain swiftness
Earth minor adept: When you attune to earth, you gain protection
Lingering elements would make the previous 4 minor traits affect allies.
Other changes:
Fire 15p minor: Remove burning from you and your allies when attuning to fire.
Fire II conjurer: Conjured weapons are now instant cast.
Bountiful Power (Now 2% damage per boon) moved to arcana 25p minor
Water 25p minor: When you heal an ally, he gains protection. (Or any other kind of support trait)
Diamond Skin: When you attune to earth you transfer two conditions to your foe.
Cleansing Wave is again an adept trait again.

Not much to say, 100% agree with this topic.
Elementalist itself needs several things:
- Better elites. Seriously, I’m tired of only having one decent skill (yes, Tornado, and even then it’s not that great comparatively) that is only good in certain situations. Maybe an elite signet? Something passive would be nice, especially when it boosts survivability.
Signet of elements – Cooldown: 60 seconds.
Passive: Reduces the Attunement cooldowns by 2 seconds.
Active: Recharge all attunements

What are some bad skills skills? (Useless/Buggy)
All Sigils are completely ineffective.
All Glyphs are completely ineffective.This bit is purely subjective and far from the truth. To me personally, glyphs are very useful. They’re very versatile, the elementals give good utility and added damage and the glyph of elemental power allows for snares on all other skills.
If anything, add some arguments to your statements.
Glyphs really need more related traits to improve their effect. In it’s current state they are weaker than other utility choices.
What are some weaknesses that Elementalist have internally?
- Way too low HP pool.
- No deffensive mechanic. We used to have healing but it’s overnerfed now.
- Because of this eles are very weak to conditions. One condition you cannot cleanse and you are mostly dead. Also Cleansing water has been nerfed (moved to master tier. Killing build diversity).
- Elementalist is totally countered by warriors and s/d thieves. When the enemy team has 2 or more of them (happens usually) having an ele in your team is a huge disadvantage.
- No build diversity: Fire & earth lines won’t be really used until the stats they give are changed (condi duration & condi damage are quite useless).
>>: Earth has very solid traits, but it’s still a weak choice because it gives you toughness & condition damage. On the other hand Water is overnerfed, but it’s still the way to go because you need every single point of Vitality & healing power

- Staff: Air #3 Gust
- Staff: Earth #2 Eruption
- Althought the elite skills are not useless, they aren’t good enough.
Suggestions
Giving eles a way to deffend themselves. Either increase HP pool, rework auras or increase Healing power.
If HP pool isn’t increased, eles need more ways to actively cleanse conditions.
- Move cleansing water back to adept tier
- Burning fire that was added last patch is okish, but it’s passive. I’d rather have
something like “every time you blast a fire field you cleanse a condition” instead.
- A cleanse on dodge more accessible than evasive arcana: Stop, drop and roll could see some tweaks: ie moved to fire, cleanses any kind of condition, or maybe to adept water… anything would do.
Also: burning is way too strong vs ele’s. We are supposed to be fire manipulators yet we die to the most stupid burning.

66% Increased CD is too much for eles
It’s not the ele community that can’t adapt.
There isn’t any combination of traits, utilities amulet and runes for the ele that is as good as the other classes except maybe super tanky and pushing far. And still, engi does it better
1. We now have a much bigger playerbase
The playerbase is really small. Thereis less than 1k people seriously playing pvp.
2. The latest balance patch has brought all 8 classes back to the game
This is not true. The game is still hugely imbalanced, classes like the ele are unplayable in competitive PvP, and anet has clearly shown that they don’t understand about balance, reward vs skill, active play and instead make OP passive builds
3. Spectator-ship is improving
No, the only thing you can see is many aoes and pets running around. The situation was already terrible and their 10th december response has been adding another spirit, which clearly shows PvE is the priority.
4. The community can finally work with the developers. This is a good thing from both sides.

Would you consider making serious changes to traits, not moving important ones to higher tiers and making a trait that only works vs rabid necros 1v1?
Given the ele’s lack of defense, how do you plan to give a class with lowest hp, lowest armor, medium damage (excluding arcanes, you can nerf those to hell if needed if thats what it takes to bring eles up to par, and coming from a guy that runs 2 arcanes out of necessity) and no way of survival out of 75-90 seconds selfish shortlived boons tied to arcane/water traits some form of defense that doesnt involve respawning?

What are your thoughts on the 0 representation of eles as of lately in any medium to high ranking teams and players and the justified outcries of the ele community which seem to be igored for the most part?

Suggestions: cleansing water & elemental attunement to adept tier, ride the lightning to 20 secs CD 1200 range. Giving 1 or 2k more base hp to the class.

endurance bar might make the game easier for the one that is attacking, but it would make things harder for the target receiving the burst. Because you know that if you missplay one dodge you can easily die.
This would prevent the random dodge spam.
More information = easier for everyone = harder for everyone
Less information = spam = randomness = easier for deffensive builds
Imho, “guessing” enemy endurance bar is nonsense. Imagine you couldn’t see the enemy HP and you had to guess it knowing your damage and enemy heals. Would you like that?

I remember Arenanet Dev said we have now hourly decay and it feels like this.
When i get a Rank on Leaderboard i have to play all day not to lose ranks per hour from Decay – thats tooo much
can´t you make this decay thing start after 3-5 days or something? Because atm i feel i have to play 24h to archieve something
I was rank 11 than play tp some hours and later I was rank 50 than palyed matches and back to 21-25 somehow and next day rank 80 and played some games back to 25 and now later on day rank 100+
I dont know – but it feels just not right. Decay starts to fast. Ok maby i was somehow unlucky and alot other guyz just passed me in ranking and thats why im falling when i dont play but seriously, gimme a break^^

This shouldn’t even be a question. This is an important detail and the skill level change from this would be IMMENSE. Pressure force dodgerolls, watch energy, know when the best time to unload is, this would be fantastic for skillful play.
