Hello frands! Vee Wee here, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80!

Vee Wee remembers half a year ago a dev messaged Ostrich Eggs, #1 most vocal Skyhammer critic NA, on how to improve Skyhammer! The dev mentioned something like increasing the time it takes for the panels to disappear! That was half a year ago! Arenanet doesn’t seem to understand that a tiny change can have profound effects on the game! And not changing anything until you think it’s perfect (and it never is) means nothing is changed!

Changing the behaviour of the panels is such a big feature it will have to come in the 1st expansion 2016

- Skyhammer in solo que, does the thread about it need to reach 10000 posts before its noticed?

- Why are AI/passive based builds still so powerful, and more importantly is that the direction a game based on “active” combat is trying to go, or is it just that there hasnt been enough time to rebalance around it (a notice that its being addressed, even if its going to take another 2 years to fix would mean a lot)

- Any updates on new game modes/maps before the end of the year? (if this was stated earlier and I missed it then forget this one)

Skyhammer should be added to tpvp rotation
It’s a good map that rewards cc based builds
There should even more maps designed to reward certain build types
Such as: a map that rewards very fast mobile characters
Such as: a very vertical map that rewards people who are good at JPs
Such as: a map with environmental effects that rewards bunkier characters
Such as: a map with random items to use that are laying on the ground
Such as: bringing back underwater combat, with a few balances

The game is more fun with different types of play
The thing that most people who complain about GW2 don’t understand is:
GW2 has a firm rock/paper/scissors effect in pvp
Some builds counter other builds but are weak to a certain other build
Some builds are great in some circumstances but bad in others

Skyhammer only catches grief because it is the only remaining “circumstantial” map
And players think it’s imbalanced because it rewards cc builds
Where as the other maps are plain jane and don’t really reward any particular build

Rather than removing Skyhammer, they should add more circumstantial maps
Ones that reward different types of builds, not cc builds
This would add flavor and add to the game’s dynamic

What are you trying to accomplish by gating this special area by player rank?

Well, this way only dedicated PvPers get the bank and TP in the mists. Otherwise anyone that never played PvP could go to the heart of the mists and use it for free

They are so bad. Both of them…

Skyhammer for obvious reasons, and Spiritwatch because it’s a map with 4 objectives (3 nodes, 1 orb).

So spliting a team of 5 into 4 objectives ends up with many 1v1, and the game is not balanced for that.

Agreed. I would even pay a one-time (or yearly, or whatever) fee in gems to have a pass to a restricted area with a bank and a TP. Just stop making me load 2-3 maps every time i have to do something.

Why complain about having a bank in the mists? I would say MOST people can just press “B” click their home BL then run right around the corner to the armorsmithing station and bam…a bank. And it is free, so just give the PvP pop a bank as well. I know I would sure love one.

Someone already put up a good argument point for this statement, that WvW isn’t always accessible. Sometimes there is a queue which for players in a hurry will cause them to spend some silver to get to a place with a bank instead of going to WvW for free.

Lolololololol someone says gems and look who shows up.

This makes me sad if nothing else. I want to start a conversation between players and developer and instead I get bad mannered. I still love you though.

Put the banker in but give him/her a waypoint fee’s worth of silver to access. Done.

I don’t understand why this thread gets so few attention as we never have the chance to ask the devs.

I’ve got some legit questions:

- How many teams are currently working on PvP? What is each team exactly doing?
- What PvP content can we expect before 2015 hits
- What’s the current list of priorities to implement?
- A long time ago we were talked about a league/season system, what happened?
- The PvP still feels really unrewarding. Why isn’t skill rewarded at all? What happened to the living story reward tracks?

So I’m not a lol player, but doesn’t that game get by primarily on 1 game mode? Is the difference that their game mode is just better?

1) They have some other “fun” modes and brackets
2) Their main game mode is much better than our conquest

Yes.

@: Balance: it’s something we’re definitely keeping in mind as we experiment with different game types. Some things carry over just fine from Conquest, others become weaker, and others become stronger. It’s inherent/to be expected in having different goals in different game modes.

I can’t give out too much info, but I can let you know that we are working on a new game mode.

Can we expect any announcement soon? Maybe during the GW2 second anniversary?

I remember a red post in this forums saying that Anet’s data showed that Skyhammer was actually a very successful map. I cannot find the link right now but if somebody shares it I’d like to include the quote here.

Anyway, that’s the thoughts from different anonymous Anet workers:

“Upper Management is poor: Some directors and design leads pay more attention to graphs and data then what people both in and outside of the studio are saying, and this often ends up with projects either being poorly prioritized, scoped beyond what a team can handle, or just driven in the wrong direction. The majority of the people driving the studio are severely out of touch with/don’t care about the people in the trenches and the players.”

“Most of the upper management seems disconnected from their employees and the customers. There are a few definite exceptions, however.”

“Advice to Senior Management – Get your nose out of your numbers and charts and graphs, and actually look at and listen to the rest of the studio”

" Upper management seems to be unable or unwilling to change, either because they are ignoring reviews like these or not seeing them. Employees certainly aren’t telling them these things, because they do not want to risk getting on someone’s bad side and losing the political game."

Other opinions that are quite interesting as well:

Great idea to go from two professions that were pretty much universally considered in need of buffs and fixes, to the two professions that are pretty much universally considered in need of nerfs. I’m looking forward to it, I hope you guys did well.

Engineers don’t need buffs. Neither do ranger really. Both are good. Nobody needs buffs really. Warriors, thieves and eles just need big nerfs.

Actually, we split the balance update into multiple episodes because a single, 80 minute balance show was exhausting for both the team and the viewers.

As for content previews, when we are able to talk about upcoming content, we will include it on the show. Until then, the episodes will focus on tournaments and events happening within the competitive community.

The shows talking about tournaments are great, but my point was that keeping the palyerbase in the dark is really bad for everyone.

Anyway, I’ll watch the show for sure and I appreciate your answer.

This show used to be about previewing upcoming content and hyping people, but it’s not anymore.

Anet is clearly not working on anything PvP related. The last 4 ready ups have all been the same: talk about the same tournaments without adding anything new at all.

Just check the announcements of the last ready ups:

Episode 19: “…Josh will be joined by German shoutcaster ChroNick to talk about the International All-Stars Tournament taking place at gamescom next week, as well as the ongoing Tournament of Legends Qualifiers…”

Episode 18: “…Josh will cover the ongoing Tournament of Legends qualifiers and the upcoming Guild Wars 2 International All-Stars Tournament at gamescom next month…”

Episode 17: “Josh is joined by authorized shoutcaster Jebro to discuss the Tournament of Legends 2 qualifier, the International All-Stars Tournament taking place at gamescom…”

Episode 16: “I’ll be joined by TCG captain Helseth […] learn how to secure that Llama Mini in ToL2!”

They don’t know how to fill the streams anymore. They even split the balance updates in many shows because they don’t know what to talk about.
