Engineer is already over the top, but it won’t be noticed because there isnt a competitive scene trying out comps.
However you do see in soloq far point engineers winning tons of games by themselves.

One of the most attractive things about gw2 pvp has always been it’s ease of access. Everyone starts on equal footing. You’re basically telling new players and new spvp players they can’t play the builds they want until they unlock stuff. Not a good move.

But im sure everyone is coming back in 3 months for the “feature patch”
my advice: go play something else meanwhile. PvP current state is so bad you will end up hating the game
I think Water #2 is definitely the worst skill in the whole game.
1) It’s very slow
2) The radius is very small
3) It does very low damage
I wish that skill was reworked. Maybe increase the raddius and add a frost field effect?
So you can blast for aura -> more build diversity

RTL should have 20 sec cd. Right now the ele is free glory.

Ill start by saying I don’t really care if they’ll nerf it or not and really don’t want to open a new discussion about it. Just wanted to present a few fact so that people will get over this issue already.

So in this comparison we get HS has a small lead in hps, no special affects and actually the worst heal to base health percentage by 7sec. Personally, I would take any of these other 3 skills instead of HS on my warrior.GL HF kitten

Guardian, mesmer, ele, thief, +1 other class (almost everything worked here) best meta.
But Warriors were buffed 6 months ago too.
The problem is the two worst classes (warrior and necro) were overbuffed IMHO.
The worst classes were overbuffed and the best one (ele?) was overnerfed.
Sadly, anet doesn’t have a clue about balancing.
Let’s look at the auras:
Magnetic Aura: When attacked with a ranged attack, retaliate by reflecting the attack back.
-Enables you to stand toe to toe against ranged opponentsShock Aura: When attacked, retaliate with hard cc.
-Enables you to stand toe to toe against melee ranged opponentsFrost Aura: When attacked, retaliate with soft cc, decrease incoming damage by 10%.
-Enables you to stand toe to toe against physical attacksFire Aura: When attacked, retaliate with burning and gain might.
-Enables you to… What? It has no real defensive value…If you look at those Auras, you got:
Earth: vs ranged
Shock: vs melee
Frost: vs physicalso why not:
Fire: vs conditions?Fira Aura: When Struck, retaliate by setting your opponent on fire. Reduces incoming condition duration by 30%.
Not like Ele got a hard time cleansing conditions, but ele still got a rather small health pool.To be honest, “When struck, remove a condition” sounded just too broken
it’s not broken, it only lasts 2 seconds. If the opponent is a monkey that only spams condis then he must be punished for doing that ^^
It makes me a bit sad thinking of Guild Wars 1 where earth had more than a few abililities to turn an elementalist into an unstoppable tank if no one brought enchantment strip.
(I can remember a random PVP battle where my team died, but no one could kill me for 3 minutes because of armor of earth, sliver armor, stone strikers and mantra of earth).
We don’t want elementalists that last 3 minutes deffending a node right?
Warrior is totally broken.
If you are a non-berserker elementalist, an afk warrior regenerates more HP than the damage you can deal.

3) Make signet builds viableHmmm I need to mull this over but I feel like this is solid. Makes written in stone look good. I see some synergy with already heavy arcana specs. If your water is up you can get a heal which the Ele is built around. May allow S/x and D/x users to dig into fire.
I think I like this. It would pretty much be the go to elite but FGS still has it uses so not totally overshadowed.
In my opinion it’s a balanced elite.
You can use the active to survive a burst and heal yourself (or maybe to land a needed updraft or burst) but then you are punished with longer attunement recharge rate that your build isn’t designed for.
Auras do need a rework. They would allow eles to survive longer (currently we melt to conditions/burst) and support builds would become viable.
The changes I found most interesting:
- Air trait VII: Inscription: Grants an aura associated with your current attunement when using a glyph.
or:
- Glyph of Elemental Protection (replaces glyph of elemental power)
Breaks Stun. Cooldown 45 seconds. Grants an aura associated with your current attunement.
On the other hand, fire aura really needs a rework. Currently it’s a useless hability that doesn’t affect the gameplay in any way. Since elementalists are really weak vs conditions, I believe the proposed condi cleanse would be nice.
Fire aura: Cleanses one condition every time you are struck.
Another option:
Fire Aura (2 seconds): As long as Fire aura is active, block up to 3 incoming attacks. When the aura expires it cleanses one condition for each blocked attack.
These changes would make the ele not so squishy and create a new Support role in PvP.
It would be really interesting to see an elementalist RTLing to one low HP team mate and give him the fire aura that blocks and then heal him.
Or maybe giving a shocking aura to a mate being chased by a thief and interrupt the burst and land some damage.
You could also give a frost aura (+ protection) to reduce 43% damage on a friendly target that was turned into a moa.
This game really needs team cooperation, there are so many options…

The first ‘feature build’ as we’re calling it, won’t go live until the current Living World story arc wraps up. The next feature build will contain substantial PvP updates, the balance items we talked about on Friday, and hopefully even more things that we aren’t ready to talk about yet.
The scope of the balance changes going in is massive. Honestly, putting all of the changes we talked about on Friday straight into the game today would have been extremely kneejerk, and I’m sure many of you would agree that some of the changes needed additional eyes on them before they hit live. We want the time to go through the feedback and make adjustments, and we’re already doing that.
I’m sorry if we gave you the impression that there would be a balance update today – that was not our intent.
Ele’s changes could come next patch, they are not that crazy and the class has been unplayable for so many months already
I really miss the paid tournaments because the game was very competitive back then. However the system was heavily broken: tickets were very hard to earn and rewards were only good for the winner.
Nowadays GW2 lacks a competitive scene. There are less than 20 people playing this game competitively and I really think this system could rebuild the scene.
To make the system work I believe the following changes are really needed:
- 5 ticket requirement. You get 2 ticket by winning team arena and 1 ticket by winning solo arena. You also get 1 ticket from the daily PvP achievement.
Back then you had to play 5 whole free tournaments (3 round each) and win them to get one single ticket. The system I propose encourages people to play team/solo arena and it’s also easier to get the 5 tickets. It’s also possible to get them when your team mates are offline, so no more afkers in the mists.
- Each tournament has 3 rounds and 8 teams participating
- Random map pool: Nifhel, Foefire, Kyhlo and Temple.
Self explanatory. It would be really nice if you could also ban 1 map when you submit your roster.
- Paid tournaments are only active at peak times. For example, from 19.00 to 24.00.
This is needed because we want the player pool to be as big as possible. Also, thanks to the time restriction you are not spliting the community in team arena and paid tournaments. If the playerbase is still too low, paid tournaments could be limited to monday, wednesday, friday and sunday.
- The two teams that lose at 2nd round are invited to spectate the finals
It would be really sweet to see the finals and learn from the best players. Hopefully this system would help average teams to improve.
Also, spectator mode would finally be used outside of hotjoins. The 10 spectators restriction is not a problem here because you are only inviting the 2 teams that lost at 2nd round.
- Rewards:
1st position: 5 gold, 5 tickets and a dragon chest (rank 80)
2nd position: 2’5 gold, 3 tickets and a phoenix chest (rank 70)
3rd/4th position: 50 silver, 2 tickets and a shark chest (rank 60)
- After a paid tournament ends a notification appears to everyone’s chat with the names of the 1st and 2nd position teams Bragging rights are important as well.
With only one exception (Ban 1 map) everything I proposed would be very easy to implement as we have seen it before.
I’d love Anet to reimplement this kind of tournaments to encourage the creation of more teams and the revival of a somewhat competitive scene.

Can we please stop calling these balance patches? If balance was the goal, the team would be a fail. A game that has been live for 15 months shouldn’t need that many balance adjustments.
Instead, these are build diversity updates. It encourages changes to the meta and to get underused weapon sets in play.

I feel like most of the people screaming ESO haven’t actually play the kitten game. The biggest threat do guild wars 2 is Wildstar, Eso seems to be one of those the glass is greener on the other side until you actually get there.
ESO will not live to the hype, it’s a really crappy game.

So according to this rumour, anet is delaying the release of any kind of important content to counter the release of TESO and Wildstar (aka the end of living story). If im not mistaken Grouch already confirmed that the balance is not coming until this feature patch.
So there won’t be profession balance, new amulets, new rewards nor changes to runes & sigils until this spring. Don’t expect any other worthy changes to PvP until then.
We’ll have to wait for the living story to end and then wait some more time because devs are going to take a break. I don’t think I can bear with another 2-3 months of total imbalance to be honest. This game’s meta has been broken since june “balance” patch.

I’ve said this a lot. It needs to happen. More players, better matchmaking, shorter queues, more viewers online.
Take a look at the popularity of Smite, it isn’t nearly as smooth or fun as gw2 pvp, yet it nets 2k viewers on twitch.
Half the viewers of smite are bots anyway
This game PvP doesn’t even reach the F2P quality. People would uninstall after 30 minutes

Anet went to greedy with the unlocks. I understand they want to implement gold sinks if they remove the glory system but they are killing the only concept that makes this game playable.
The 20 skill points healing was already a huge fail from their part, if they continue with this philosophy they will stability stomp this game.
I can understand terribad maps like skyhammer, I can understand terribad matchmaking, I can understand the big imbalance, I can understand the AI builds and the spam, I can understand the effects clutter and the mindless fotm builds … but character progression in PvP?

i am wondering why there are ele in top 100 in eu, if its soooooooo unplayable (watch xerrex, phantaram or cmc stream for proof).

You’re also conveniently forgetting that eles often have Soothing Mist and passive regens up as well, which the warrior doesn’t get from themselves. Then there are the healing skills (which appear on any weapon but focus) and if they bring a signet, they can trait for it not to lose the passive if they use the active heal.
Overall, I’d say that we should first look what this change will do, and then complain about it.

The unlocks should never happen.
GW2 pvp has many flaws, the only thing they made right was gear equality.
