I agree, this game wasted a lot of time after july patch because they added a lot of lame things (FS/LS for thief, too much buff to necro and warrior) and now they need to correct their mistakes + fix the old lame things + solve other big problems like animations and evades.

Tetuos has good ideas imho, i like ready button before u enter the match + time window and a revamp of disonhorable system.
Probably only u need to change the window for soloqueue message, this message appears before the match so if u click ok u’re ready, if u don’t click ok in X time, u go out from queue (and u get a new disonhorable buff).
I agree the right way is a mix of both systems.

So when something is wrong, u need to change it. The actual decay system doesn’t promote people to play, and it’s a fact.

Burning problem is passive proc (eng and necro trait, spirit ranger ecc.), burning is fine in general.
Shadow refuge has a good cd, problem is an aoe stealth too long.
So yes, too many classes have op builds and there are too many broken mechanics in the game.

PvP is not currently designed to have extensible content. There are maps, which we do make. There are runes and sigils, but there are already an overabundance of them. Finally there are skins, which are added usually with every other update, but how you obtain those skins stem from PvE.
There are no features we can just ‘throw people at’ to give you guys more content. We need more infrastructure and more extensible systems, but those are the hardest to design and take the most time to implement. An example would be a completely reworked reward system. Those are the things we’re working on. It’s taking a lot of time and hard work to get there, but the payoff will be worth it.
I don’t think real problems are new contents but real problem is that what we have now doesn’t work properly (leaderboards problems, soloqueue afk+leavers problem) and a terrible, really terrible, meta.
So pvp it’s in an open alpha status with many problems.

Spvp needs A LOT of changes, 1 month is too slow. You really need to give more people to pvp teams, this game will not ever be a serious pvp game if your resources are so few.

Sad but true.
There is no chance to spvp to be a great competitive pvp game without a really serious split between pve and www. And if anet splits completely these parts, anet should rework so many things, basically fused in the nature of this game, that the result would be really another game.
Too much effort, they push on pve and www and probably this is enough to mantain a large players base.
Personally, i moved on pve/www. Tpvp, without a serious rework, is dead for me.

This thread has a LOT of great suggestions for Anet, but it means that actually spvp is really in a alpha/beta status. Too many things they need to fix/modify to improve this game aspect, only chance to do this in a short/medium range is address many resources to pvp team and create a balance team specific designed for spvp.
If they want to push their competitive game aspect to high level, this game need desperately more resources.
I hope now that gw2 has a great pve players base they can spend more resources in spvp game.
A great pvp game attracts a lot of people/viewers but this aspect needs to be REALLY GREAT, not mediocre.
Pls, really pls, fix broken/brainless mechanics on EVERY class:
- CC lock —> immunity CC buff?
- evade skills with perma evade --> evade skills consume endurance?
- instant damage no predictable —> casting time + good animations?
- passive damage effects --> a warning icon?
- auto-ress —> toss elixir r with less % and ranger can’t ress himself if he is downed?
- aoe stealth --> nerf Shadow refuge and combo stealth duration
- animations —> use better animations for many classes (necro anyone?)
- asura – a graphic option where people can see everyone with a standard human model? or re-size asura in pvp.
Other stuff
solo queue issues -> rank decay, don’t let people lose ranks if they stay in 3-4 but punish (heavily) only the leaver. Ready button to solve afk problems?
PvP rewards
Etc.

I completely agree with Helseth, every class in this game has broken mechanics (cc lock, perma evades, mega instant damage, mega condi damage and too much sustain, auto-ress, IA, etc. ) anet needs to work about these broken mechanics if they want to improve meta game.

Strong builds and counter builds are welcome when there are good mechanicals. But countering evade skills + ia with cc lock is a bad design on both sides.
This is because pvp rewards really sux.
It’s pretty easy.
A meta with:
- Cond damage e DD damage balanced
- no evade skills + perma vigor
- no CC lock
- less Aoe Damage
- no auto ress spell
- AoE Stealth no so long (SR and Combo field Stealth)
- less passive benefits
- less IA and more control on pets
- no stupid elite like MoA
- no stupid mechanical
And i really like the idea about new combo fields that generate strong aoe effects between two or more classes instead of single aoe spells for every classes, this would promote cooperation between classes instead of “In combat i think only for myself to survive and to kill” Main Theme.

1) Balance. No AoE spam on nodes, No CC chains, NO perma evade skills with super end regen, NO too much passive stuff, NO long Aoe Stealth, NO AI + afk stuff, NO auto-ress spells. In 3 words: NO stupid mechanical.
2) PvP rewards. ELO rewards. Seasons. A Leaderboards and MMR that REALLY WORK.
3) More Game modes.

I agree a god way to fix passive burning proc is an icon which says when burning is coming, so if u dodge/block/etc. burning miss and cd starts.
Balance is crucial for a serious pvp game, so i think balance team should interact more with players (top) and forum. If they have not time to do this, they need to structure better this team, pvp coordinator is a good role but there need to be another pvp coordinataor specifically dedicated for balance.
It’s too much important.
PS I appreciate a lot Allie but i think this area needs a lot of attention, is real important.
To understand really well pvp mechanics you need to play A LOT of hours in tpvp matches, so i think devs can’t do this alone, top player support is really crucial.
And i think this community has really good players with brain that can judge very well metagame and its weakness.

I can confirm this, i did a lot of my matches (team queue and soloqueue) in temple.
Last two pvp maps aren’t good for rated match, spirit is a map where you can win without win a single teamfight (LOL) and sky hammer is a map where you can one shot people with a single CC and there is a weapon which does a lot of damage undodgeable (btw i think if they fix cannon and one shot problem could be fun also for rated match).
So it’s ok a sylvari map but please, do a new map good for rated match without lamer mechanics.

Conquest experience is one of the three big problems of soloqueue and about tpvp in general.
Hot join doesn’t help.
But there is the same thief problem, why do you need good break stun when you have insane evade skills? Do you want good break stun and insane evade skills? It’s too much.
I agree with lord, these things + Insane AoE on node (don’t forget this) are the main problems for this meta. How to fix this?
Spirit ranger: Ranger without his pets, lost a lot of power, so CD to recast pet need to start when pets are killed not when pets are summoned. S/d set has too much evade, so when ranger uses evade skills, he needs to lose endurance or vigor doesn’t need to stack with endurance regen + evade skills.
Thief s/d: same ranger problem, s/d has a broken evade mechanics, so he needs to lose endurance when he uses evade skills or vigor shouldn’t stack with endurance regen + evade skills. Anet puts a cast time on Elixir R for endurance refill, i think sigil of agility needs to have the same thing (or both with cast or neither).
Necro/Warrior: Why together? Because the main problem is chain CC (fear for necro and insane CC – basically skull crack – from warrior). Chain CC sux because people can’t do anything, almost 4s stun every 7 and half second is a bad design and it’s a nosense. Same thing when necro can use more fears in a row.
Elixir R: here Anet makes a mistake because the problem wasn’t the elixir r but the toss elixir r. So why nerf elixir r instead of toss elixir r? No sense. Give back the break stun to elixir R (eng sux in break stun), leave cast time from elixir r (the old version) and DECREASE revive percent pulse from 20% to 15-18% with Less CD. Toss Elixir R needs to help people to ress, not for autoress.
Spirit of Nature (ranger elite): for me this is a powerfull elite but it’s not OP, i mean there are counters to this elite (pet can be killed or interrupted) and his CD is very long. I dunno, but if ranger spirit pet can ress twice people without be killed or interrupted i see a big mistake from enemy party. I’m not very sure this elite need to be nerfed.
MoA: ok Mesmers are out of meta but this elite is pure kitten because isn’t absolutely not fun to receive it and there is no counter. Eliminate this Elite from the game and replace it with a usefull team elite with a good condition removal aoe and CD max 60s.
And in general if anet wants to nerf these things (game would be better) pls don’t compensate these classes with brainless skill or mechanics, put stuff where people need to use brain.

Soloqueue is the 2-weeks news, so it’s normal that teamqueue has more difficulty now.
The important thing is to understand that manage a team, to be in a team, is not easy like play solo, so teams need to have very good pvp rewards (better and differents than soloqueue), there need to be a very good incentives to form a party for the team queue or simply people will not form new teams and old teams will disband very soon.
We know about sync problems but people need to accept there are players better than others, and some are really strong.
I’m reading a lot of forum threads where people complain about soloqueue problems. I think would be usefull a unique thread where we can analyze main soloqueue problems and suggest to anet any good solutions. Imho Soloqueue now has 3 big problems: leavers, sync ad people conquest experience.
Leavers: no one like to play 4 (or less) vs 5, you have almost 0 chance to win (sometimes it happens but it’s very rare) and you lose rank and match because people left the match. I see only two ways to solve this problem: a replacement system or you play , probably you lose the match but your rank stays the same and match doesn’t figure like a loss in leaderboard . The leaver get dishnorable, rank decrease and loss in the leaderboard.
Sync: another big problem, because this is a soloqueue, this means that you can’t join with your friends and if you sync the match with other people, basically it’s a team match vs soloqueue. How to solve this? Many people gave good advices, i like the idea to create a pool players with similar mmr when people click on soloqueue button and to not put them immediatly in the same team but shake them random. It’s better a queue that starts with some seconds late instead of an unbalanced match. I think can happen that two or more players with the same mmr (or very similar) stay in the same team, but if this stuff happens many times in a row, there is some problem.
Conquest experience: we have another big problem, many people play soloqueue like hot join, and this is not good to understand GW2 conquest mode potential. Veteran people can give good advices but i think Anet need to do better in this area, show to players how they need to play. I think people need to know well what happen during the game, so many things can help in this way: better mini map, macro text commands, voice chat ingame, better advises (pre match and during the match) more other stuff. These are very important stuff for spectator mode too, people need to understand what’s happening during the game, on node and on other nodes. And it’s very important that people care about winning or loosing in rate match, so pvp elo rewards linked are very important.
I see these are the main gw2 soloqeue problems (after we have balance problems, op build etc.) but i think if anet solved these problems, soloqueue (and the game in general) would be really better.
