Main problem is always thieves.
Hambow will be always very strong on node, but he will suffer more against long range classes (condi classes more).
Warriors: Love the adrenaline changes. Benefits my teams bunker warrior more than other warrior builds.
Basically warriors will have to stay in combat as much as possible to keep adrenaline.
Next zerker stance gives less adrenaline, AND if they miss their f1 they lose all adrenaline.
The last part means 2 things: Longbow f1 fields will suffer slightly, before if they missed f1 then they could immediately full longbow field. Now they won’t get that opportunity.Awaiting clarification (screenshot anyone?) if missing f1 will proc cleasing ire or not

Now, every F1, except Combustive shot (F1 longbow), triggers and you consume adrenaline bars ONLY if hits. If you don’t hit, you don’t consume adrenaline bars. And when F1 hits —> cleansing ire triggers.
Combustive shot (F1 longbow) triggers ALWAYS, if you hit o don’t hit doesn’t matter, it always triggers, it consumes adrenaline bars and cleansing ire triggers always.
After the next balance patch:
every F1 (combustive shot too? who knows), triggers and you consume adrenaline bars ALWAYS (if u miss or don’t). But Cleansing Ire triggers ONLY if you hits.
In theory combustive shot should work in the same way, it doesn’t really make sense that cleansing ire triggers always
So, in few words: you need to play with brain now.

Because ok, we hope a new game mode can change something for spvp but without incentive to play it’s only a temporary “patch”.
I like Conquest but there is simply no incentive to play it, so i’d avoid the same problem with a new game mode.

Adrenaline changes for warriors (Berserker stance included) are not a soft nerf.
Blocks/inv/blind etc. will work on FS->LS ? If yes, it’s not a soft nerf for s/d damage.
BTW both of them are interesting changes.
Little note Grouch, events are good, but the main problem is a very big lack of competitive structure on daily base.
And this has a big impact on events too.
I’m pretty sure anet said they split LS patch from Feature patch (like April) and contents patch.
So we need to wait the end of this LS for the next feature and content patch or there will be a break in this LS with a Feature/Content patch in the middle?

just make it so that the ones in spectator mode can only join the losing team, even with the teams are balanced at 4 vs 4.
so the original person who entered spectator mode to force an auto balance can only join back the original team.
this will make entering spectator mode to force auto balance working as it is intended to be. to balance the teams so that the losing team has a chance by having an extra player.
if some other spectator decides to join the winning team after the losing team has one more player, then the game becomes 5 vs 5, effectively balancing out the teams.

Of course, i’d prefere to rework hot join in unranked soloque version, but if this fix was little (speaking about dev time) it would be good in general.
Apologies if I’ve missed it, but I have yet to see someone suggest team-switching to spectator working the same as switching between Red and Blue. Disallow it if it would unbalance the teams. The general case is still possible, but harder. One person could move to spectator in a 5v5, but autobalance wouldn’t happen unless another player from the same team left the arena completely. Even if this doesn’t fix the problem entirely, it still makes team switching more consistent and less able to be abused. This should probably be done regardless of any other steps we could take.
I think you need to separate custom arenas (buyable) for a regular hot join servers.
Hot join servers should work like a soloqueue but with no ladder and hidden rank. In this way you can’t switch teams, you don’t have autobalance, you have similar skill level (ok, this is in theory, with a few people play this game every mmr system is an evil but an hot join designed like this can attract a lot of players) and people learn the true conquest mode.
Basically “play now” button becomes a soloqueue unranked.
The spectator mode should stay in this hot join – soloqueue unranked, people can select servers like spectators (only for spectators) to learn something.
Noone could cry about “spy possibility” because these matches are unranked so the main goal is improving and learning instead of winning (winning it’s always important and you have rank points progression but it’s not a ranked match).
For practice with friends, instant games, no brain games etc. people can use custom arenas, there are a lot of custom arenas with no password, so it’s a good place to fast practice (or Anet could add some dedicated server)
It would be an amazing step in the right directions, this game miss completely a specific “tutorial” phase o an initial/intermediate phase where people can understand how conquest works
PS U can use skyhammer and spirit watch for this hot join / soloqueue unranked and remove them from soloqueue ranked (like in teamqueue)

This game is 90% PVE living story.
It’s a fact and it’s a very waste of pvp potential.

Don’t joke around, WvW is much worse off than sPvP (although both are desolate). The last real WvW update we got was ruins/bloodlust last fall, and that was universally loathed. EotM isn’t WvW because it is not World versus World.
WWW got seasons and special rewards linked to the seasons, not a revolution but something to make a sense to WWW for X weeks. But i agree with you, the main www core is the same since 2 years, only zerg and pvdoors, their attempts to split the zerg with ruins failed a lot.
But Spvp has the same problem (or worst, it’s not really important), the core of the game (gamemode) is always the same, they added 3 maps (only temple is good, the other two, skyhammer in primis, is the devil), a soloqueue (always on conquest and with only few people play this game the matchmaking is horrible) and the same rewards we had before but with a different structure.
There is no incentive to play spvp, no progression, no competition, no sense to play it.
This game is 90% PVE living story.

No way to fix this issue if only few (very very few) people play spvp ranked match.
I voted for you of course, your effort about Guild wars 2 is amazing, probably this spvp doesn’t deserve an effort like this, but i’m sure you do this because you’re very passionate.
Honestly, no surprise, this is a pve game with a mini spvp side (like a mini game), a lot of people are only interested to pve.
And they have no infrastructure to shoutcast in a good way the event e and no anet sponsorized prizes in chat, so an event like this could reach, 5k-10k viewers in easy way with a better organization

I think this is the only reason because they didn’t give us a precursor crafting and you can sell legendary on tp.
Rng is a very good source of money for anet

it would make sense too because light combats shadows.(for example the aoe retaliation from Blast Finishers could apply 1 second of revealed to enemies)
This is a good Ideia.
I would change that to light fields could cause revealed on stealth targets. The stealth character can still avoid the light field but it gives some kind of control to the character who uses and places the light field.

CDI for league/seasons closed on March so……we need 5 more months to get……nothing.

Legendary is the only long horizontal progression goal in this game, not well designed (because you need to grind golds and buy what you need from tp) but it’s the only “big quest” for pve.
If anet uses 6 teams only for living story, spvp (and www) can’t improve quickly.
Sad but true.
When i read at least 6 teams for a LS finale i was a little shocked.
Of course if they spend so many resources for LS, there is a lack of contents not only in pve, but for WWW and Spvp too (and if anet spent more resources in spvp and www, these game sides could grow A LOT and be the true future of this game)
I think the main imbalance is here, too much resources for LS and so few for other sides of the game.
Yeah i agree, what’s the sense to create another game mode based on 5vs5.
We already have a 5vs5 and it’s enough, because it’s pretty hard to schedule together 5 men and it’s the main reason beacuse a lot of teams have a very short life.
So explore other size, 2vs2 and 3vs3 over all.
So to clarify the thought behind:
1. Must be able to be hot join-able
One thing we really want to do is promote and grow the player base. Now, what does that mean? When a new player (either to PvP or to the game) joins PvP for the first time they go to custom arenas to play and learn the game in a less competitive environment. We want those players to retain and work their way up to the competitive game modes: Solo or Team queue. So the meaning behind that statement is that the game mode must work for both casual and competitive environments to help grow the community.
So, do u want a new game mode where people quit in easy way, go to spectator and switch team, match starts in 1vs2, or when people press the play now button find matches totally imbalanced in score and team composition?
How people can think a new game mode “hot joinable” if the actual hot join structure is really really bad?
We did ship with 3 round round tournaments with 8 teams and rewards were based on placement. However, the barrier to entry was high and queue times were long. Having a structured (in-game) way to support multi-round tournaments again would be fun though.
Tickets + no mmr was an horrible design you know, and 40 people to start a queue was a really bad idea.
Team ladder (with division, gold/silver/bronze etc.) + automatic daily/weekly/monthly tournament based on team positions in ladder would be really fun.
Of course with very good rewards and team stats
I hope in new reward tracks for the next patch
And i hope seasons & league soon.
Very few chances for a new game mode in a short time.

We are in Juve now, and we have nothing new.
Pretty sad.
Extra tournaments are fine when there is a competitive scene, are fine when the general spvp structure is solid, but this is not the case.
No chance to win, no chance to get legendary or precursor and the unique reward is a joke.
You have more chances to get a precursor if u are a spectator instead of playing lol
You’ll probably be able to sell that mini on TP, so PvP player will get tons of gold and the PvE player will be able to brag as he wants, both sides happy.
Of course, if you can sell an exclusive reward on tp, it’s a completely joke.
My Thought:
-pvp players don’t care about useless mini pets so this reward is useless
-pve completionist players care about this reward and 99% they won’t be able to get it.
So:
- pvp players unhappy (bad unique reward)
- pve players unhappy (can’t get it)
the idea of unique reward for this tournament is good but anet chose the wrong reward (they could choose weapons/armor/finisher/title, basically everything lol)

Btw when we say “spvp population is small” and for this reason anet don’t focus on pvp we simply forget that this spvp deserves to be small.
A good spvp can attract a lot of players.
For sure 60/70% of pop. always will play pve, but there is a big difference between 5-10% and 30-40%.
A good spvp can grow, a bad can’t.
Why it takes so long for a balance patch?
Why do we have a 14 days pve/ls story patch and a balance patch every 6 months?
How people can’t see thief is the best/Op class in the game is a really a mystery.
Sounds like you should try the ‘Play Now’ button. It prioritizes servers that are just starting a map, has playable space, and is the same server other people will hop into when they use ‘Play Now’ so that they’re usually never empty and/or fill up quickly.
“normal” servers are basically custom arenas but i think you need to limit some functions for “normal” servers like:
-leave button
-choose team
-switch team
This is because people has always the same routine in hot join: match starts, people sux at the first fight, leave or go to spectator to try to switch team, if doesn’t work they leave the match. Match ends 1vs2 or something like that.

Last weeks ESL weekly cup gave us 8 teams, the first time in a few months now tbh.
The reason people feel its dead is maybe they see a lot of the top end players have left or arent playing as much.
They will return, theres much to look forward to i feel it in me bones!
Personal note, my pops are still pretty quick
ESL and ToL are extra tournaments, and only a super mega little % of all spvp players play them.
But we said this in another topic, there are not really reasons to play spvp in this game.
Super bad rewards, only 1 game mode, no progression.
This game needs reasons to be played daily, not una tantum.
It’s a lack of contents.

I agree with everything (and very good examples). We need a better horizontal progression, more horizontal carrots.

7 months and we have nothing.
I think it’s a little shame linked how really cdi are effectives for pve and living story.
These weapons will be available in the next Seasons too.

You need to be very carefull with a rng component in a veto system.
U can use rng to choose xx maps to vote (before the vote but after this, the vote win and there is no rng) but would be very bad using a rng component after people vote.
