the real dangerous part seems to come when you get them downed.
I think you should try to play a mesmer in PvP and figure out how their downed works. They are easy to finish off once you know how they work. Autoattack a few times on the downed mesmer. If he looses too much health, you need to look around for the real one
Thats a bad idea since a downed mesmer can spam confusion on you. Just look for the giant red arrow, thats the mesmer.

Elixir U has its uses, I run with it most of the times. I generally avoid using it if I know I’ll get hit, I use it more as an opener in a wvw fight upon an unsuspecting player or when someone is running away. It’s also great when you are shooting from above while using coated bullets.
The tossed elixir is tricker: for me it’s something you use in a fight against another ranged character, no matter what spell you get you will always get some benefit. It’s also a last attempt at getting stealth to escape, not only can you get it from the confusion wall, you can also combo the smoke screen for it.

What engineers are not very good at right now is damage (what type? all types. Mediocre single, burst, aoe, and conditions) and solo roaming. So for now it’s a very group oriented class.
I disagree with this. Engineer is my class of choice for solo wvw roaming. It’s fast, it can disengage from nearly any fight and just escape, it can apply a large number of boons on self, permanent might, fury and retaliation on demand etc. I can kill anything 1v1 with it, in fact, I don’t think I’ve lost more than a dozen 1v1s in wvw and I’m at 14k kills, most of them achieved as a roamer.
No one ever knows what to expect from an engineer in wvw, that’s also a great advantage.
Youre right but there are classes you cant beat as engineer like well played mesmers.
I have also 14k kills 13K of them with the engineer and i run solo or with a group of max 5 most of the time. I won almost all 1v1 i had except against well played mesmers. You also have a mesmer you should know what i mean, its ridicoulus. I couldnt beat my mesmer with my engi and i have just yellow accessiores on the mesmer and play engi since bwe1.
I honestly don’t have that much trouble with mesmers, sure if they use feedback and mirror they can be a big hassle but I dont find them particularly difficult in wvw.
I have much harder times with heavy condition damage necros, there’s just no way I can compete with them (I’m running an high amount of condition damage too) when they have more hp, can stack crazy amounts of conditions and turn the ones I throw at them into boons or extra healing. Luckily, I haven’t found many of these around in wvw.
I guess its all down to your build.

engineer doesnt need a total rework, not even a partial one. it’s fine as it is, it just needs bugfixing and a way to get sigils and weapon dps working on kits.

The cooldowns on the f1-f4 skills are not shared between underwater and land skills.
This is particularly useful if you are running an elixir build, you can use the toss elixir skills just before leaving water and have a few free boons on land while still having all cooldowns ready. also works with elixir gun’s F skill for free regeneration.

Yesterday I won a 3v1 and a 4v1 against level 80 toons in wvw. In the 3v1 I had two rifle engineers from the same guild trying to kill me. This is something I do regularly on my engie and I cannot pull stunts like that on my mesmer, even tho it hits much harder.
Now I’m not denying the class has some issues, mainly to do with kit weapon damage and sigils, but it’s surely one of the better done and more versatile classes in the game in my view.

I use a heavy condition damage p/p build and I recently struggled with lack of power.
Due to ascended items not having both power and condition damage in them at the same time, I lost a whole lot of power and the lack of direct damage on skills was very much noticeable, to the point where I had to change some items around to make up for the loss in power.
So, at least as far as a p/p condition dmg build goes, do not neglect power.

I don’t find grenades that good tbh. Sure, they do crazy damage if you trait for it but apart from defending a tower/keep or doing some dynamic events I dont see much use for them. Everytime I see an engineer running around with grenade kit in wvw he’s a free kill.
So I very much disagree about “nades or go home”, I’d say “no kits or go home”, but thats just me.

Engineer got a trait like ranger that make them invis on CC.
engies have:
trait for invisibility on immobilize
thrown elixir S which randomly gives either stability or stealth
thrown elixir U which can randomly give confusion/stealth wall
thrown elixir U which can randomly give smoke screen and be used as a combo field for stealth

I disagree. Badges is easy to get if you are not zerging. It should stay the way it is.
If you running PvD with 30+ players there is no difficulty and honor to it. For what would you get that badge? For clicking “1” on your keyboard?
Running with 4-8 people reward you with more then 1 badges per kill, since sometimes i get 3-4 from one player. It depend on comparison of your force and enemy. If you win 8vs16 people you get a lot more badges then otherwise. Killing enemy if you have advantage of 10 to 1 would usually reward you nothing.
And about loot bags. Suck it, loot is for winners not whiners.
This.
BoH drop rate is fine, you won’t get them as often if you zerg everything down and you shouldnt get them for taking down an empty tower/keep. There’s no merit in that.
I’m at 10.000 wvw kills and I had at least 2500-3000 badge drops so far which seems fine. Mostly what I do is run around with a small group (never more than 5, alot of times solo or in a duo) taking and defending camps from zergs and ninjaing the ocasional tower.
As for the other drops, they need some tuning, I understand anet doesn’t want players just trading kills for loot but in 10.000 kills (and all the guard npcs, supervisors and keep lords that come with that) I had 1 or 2 exotic items which is ridiculously low.
Rare loot chance seems to have improved lately though.
