Seems to happen to me mostly when i have clones out. Maybe its done so you can’t tell the real mesmer from the clones?
edit: I am also getting the bug in wvw saying I do not have permission to claim a location even though I am a leader. I wonder if it’s related.
Do you have a guild emblem yet? You can only claim if you have one.
Did you close your dye window after setting everything to all black? it looks like you didn’t apply your changes..
Hah interesting find. You can report exploiters by emailing exploits@arena.net.
I kinda wish I could find bugs like this. I would report them obviously, but im pretty sure even looking for them is against the ToS :/
happens alot with teleport skills and thin world models. If they were solid or had a way out (or better yet allow me to go through it from the inside if im stuck) or a /stuck command to jump you a little bit after a delay so you cant abuse it.
Just gonna chime in here, I completely agree with how GW2 is handling trading. If you got something to sell, put it on the TP, period.
This avoids so much of the scamming issues, it doesn’t require gazillions of hours making a P2P trade system that is scam proof, it avoids much of the scam issues that can bog down personnel, etc.
C.O.D. mail is a basic feature that I could develop in under an hour, and I’m not even a professional so imagine how fast they could do it(unless they get paid hourly but i doubt thats the case). There’s literally 0% chance of possible scam unless you’re a complete idiot and don’t read the trade right.
And their fear of it damaging the global economy is just not well thought out. It may lower supply on the TP, but thats a great thing, then prices will skyrocket and it becomes a sellers market, which is more fun. And also, the point of an MMO is to be social. If i dump my junk into an anonymous TP system, I dont ever have to talk to anyone in my whole game experience. That’s wrong.
The only downside to making P2P trade is the chat spam that will happen. Simple fix: trade channel, with the main channel having spam filters for string like “WTB, WTS” etc.
A P2P trading mechanism is needed for people selling high end mats or exotics since supply and demand of that item is not very stable. Putting it on the auction does not guarantee a sale so it’s not worth posting due to losing 5% of the listing price every time you have to relist the item.
This as well ^ and taking a 15% cut from my 3+ gold exotic? no thanks. Maybe 5% for a successful C.O.D. (obviously you can’t remove the gold sink attribute if adding such a system). But anything higher on a high end item is taking a huge huge loss and not worth my time getting the mats, leveling my craft to 400 and waiting for the sale.

Dude…I’m a foreigner… Lol.
“…that doesn’t understand capitalism”? I didn’t just throw that in to be racist lol, a few euro/asian countries dont have capitalism at all so they just dont understand.
I totally understand his point…but unfortunately he doesn’t understand economics.
What you and he says happens only under the assumption that everyone will want to undercut. Tell me, will that be true? Only reason someone wants to sell lower is because they have no confidence to sell at a higher price, or that they need the cash fast. If there are sufficient demand for an item, and insufficient demand, what you say won’t happen. There will be fluctuations, and undercutting will only help lower for a short duration. In short, equilibrium price is not affected by that.
However, making transaction cost lower makes speculation easier…which creates a larger variation on price, and increases the probability of someone cornering the market, all bad for the overall players. This is the most significant reason to not allow reporting without cost.
Best way to let a market run is without any restrictions, a true free market. Let the competition sort out the supply and demand price. Inclusive more mechanism and restrictions only impedes the efficiency of the market.
You’re giving too much credit to people that play this game. Most are either children or foreigners that don’t understand capitalism. They don’t understand that they need to take into account their time they spent getting items(working), leveling your crafting to the proper level(like earning a degree, you pay your doctor more because he went through more schooling), and your own profit so that you can continue to have the drive to do what you’re doing. That last part is a bit of an issue because people can get stuff just by playing the game which they enjoy, its not the same as working a job. You wouldn’t work 40/hr a week for no reward.
Kids just want to sell their stuff before someone else, they don’t care how they do it.
I wish buyers had to FIND the best deal themselves instead of automatically buying the cheapest one for them. This exact implementation wouldn’t work for guild wars, but setting up your own personal shop somewhere in the world has been fun in a few other games.
A simple fix for 1c micro-cutting that would greatly improve the high-end market! Discussions within!

I’d say no to the free relist, yes to the expiration ( i remember disliking this idea too but i cant for the life of me remember why so il vote yay for now )
Free relist = infinitely lower prices (until the floor is hit). Thats no fun and no way for anyone to profit but grinders that dont craft or waypoint. I’d rather just delete an item than contribute to that.
Answer me this oh economics expert…what’s stopping me from udder cutting you once you’ve adjusted your price for free?
Nothing. That behaviour is encouraged, which is why what KDragon suggests will be achieved:
it will allow other sellers to retaliate by adjusting their orders down. In fact the market will become healthier, as prices on over-valued items will be driven down quickly.
If there’s an actual market for the item in question, pirce on sale offers will eventually be on level with buy orders.
I don’t think you understood his point. If free relists were aloud, everything would get infinitely cheaper until they hit the vendor price +1c. Thats a fantastic buyers market sure, but thats not a fun market at all for sellers. Why would I craft a fancy exotic for someone else if I can only sell it for the cost of the mats, or worse, below mat cost? (currently this is the case with literally everything +/- a few copper, so not even fun.)
EDIT: I’d just like to point out while I love that GW2 can have a real thriving economy inside it, the main goal for a game should always be fun. I should enjoy collecting mats and crafting items and enjoy my profit. In the current economy I feel like a sweatshop worker making only a few coppers profit every now and then.

I’m for a slight slight inflation of the currency. I prefer seeing big numbers, I dont mind if im paying out big numbers as well. As long as its equal.
You get this error when attempting to goto the trading post URL in your browser without a valid session ID cookie which is generated when you access the TP from the game. I assume somehow some peoples session ID expires within the game as well. If you restart your game it might fix the error.
I have no idea but make sure cookies are enabled in Internet Explorer, might help something.
Some ranger pets footsteps are louder than all other sounds. Heres a video of one. I see it happen most with this pet and the polar bear. Sound settings at the end.
If Areanet allows bottign then game will be full of bot farmers doing nothing but collecting materials and selling them with high price.
That is not what i want see in this game when theres every where botters farming all the time and not help doing events.
And worst of all there will be lots of gold sellers if they allow bot farming.
Removing anti-botting code would not promote botting. They need to develop a way to catch botters that doesn’t hurt players that actually take their time to go out and farm mats. If im spending my own time doing the most boring thing ever (grinding) then they shouldn’t make it worse on me because someone else could abuse the system.
First simple fix is to not accept input from anything other than a hardware keyboard. Sure that still leaves people with keyboards with macro buttons and such, but I paid for this MMO keyboardkitten let me use it. I can’t even think of a way other than spamming autoattack that I could use this to farm anyway. Maybe limit the amount of auto attacks you can do without moving?
We need some other way to get a speed buff, currently our only way is in combat, and a random one is not very good IMO. If im doing a jump puzzle or something that requires precision i dont want that randomly to pop up.
We definitely have a lot of discussion on what kinds of skins or armors should be made. We understand that some people want armors and skins like the OP, while some others want a more realistic war uniform. We will always try to provide what is wanted, and we must also preserve the online world of GW2.
So: Your welcome! We’ll see what the future holds!
Moar like the Krytan Medium Armor set please! Except light armor
While we understand the want for P2P trading, we feel that the Trading Post works well for accomplishing fair deals and keeping individual users protected from those with less-than-pure-intentions.
Again, while we know that the majority of players would use a P2P system within its intended design, creating they system may place the global economy at risk, as well as some players.
While I now understand your reasoning behind not including a P2P trade system, let me offer this in return. If I find a buyer from chat or the forums or whatever, I AM going to sell that item to that person. It would be rude of me not too. Right now, my only option is to mail that item to them with no guarantee they will send money to me, or viceversa for them. This is super exploitable, with little security. (do you want your support team looking into chat and mail logs all day every day to determine legitimate trades?)
Cash on Delivery mail is the perfect system for Guild Wars 2. It lets me put a price on my item that the other person can review, no way for me to flip flop it or anything last second to try and scam, if they decline then the item is sent back to me. No possible way to scam with this system. 100% fool proof (not idiot proof mind you, but prettykittensecure). And its SIMPLE to implement, next to no man hours.
We really need this, you are leaving us at risk to scammers without the option of a P2P trade system. I expect until something is implemented, if I am scammed, that any and all support requests including item recovery are answered swiftly.
Please reconsider.
EDIT: One last note. Having only a trading post instead of P2P trading lessens the socialness of the MMO. I don’t have to talk to anyone to play this game, I can just throw my junk at a faceless trading company and they do everything for me. This is the opposite of what you want.

Semi on/off topic, but these boss events.. Specifically the dragon events.. The dragons are THE bosses. They should be super hard. Not once have I ever taken damage from a dragon(minus when I am feared through a poison AoE, but that’s just luck). We shouldn’t be 1-shotted but we should either be hit hard or hit often, anything to make it a challenge. For shatter, you just stand by his left front leg and never get touched. Similar spot for Tequatl. Haven’t fought Jormag yet. Fire elemental is infinitely more difficult than all of the dragons combined.
I almost don’t even want to fight Zhaitan yet so I am not disappointed :/
Before I just got the magic fine armor all i got was vendor stuff SOMETIMES. maybe salvage stuff every now and then. With the magic fine after around 40 kills or so I started getting some fine drops from risens, but still garbage that doesnt sell :/
I am having incredible difficulty getting any decent drops on my mesmer now that I have hit level 80. I have been in Orr and surrounding zones killing tons of undead off and on making sure I’m not getting screwed by anti-farming code or anything, but still not a single rare drop since I hit 75-80. Before that I was always the one in the guild getting sweet drops. I even built up my magic find to around 50% (not as high as some of you, but its the best I can do when im not getting any drops to profit off of to make better stuff).
So is my magic find level really too low? Am I just getting super unlucky? Any tips? Devs, maybe something in the randomness generator that takes something like my characters name or something unique about me specifically that could possibly be lessening my chances at good drops? At this point, I’d almost believe that to be the case, but meh. I just want some nice things.. why cant I have nice things
I dont have a source but I believe guild halls may be coming some day down the road, and possibly even player houses(maybe.. not sure where i heard that from)
I think some of the trash in dungeons need to have a bit less health. Not to be easier but trash should not take up my time. Give that health to the boss if you want, I’m in there to experience fun boss mechanics, not fight regular but super buffed mobs.
And on the topic of fun boss mechanics.. I LOVE a hard boss fight that takes superior strategy to conquer, but getting 1 shotted continuously is not at all fun and is hardly a “mechanic”. Especially on AC.. the first dungeon you ever encounter. Please look into this. (better dungeon loot too! less from trash but epic stuff from bosses)
Final Note: A team that has an extremely well thought out and executed strategy should not wipe at all, even on exploreable. This wont be a majority of the players, but the really good teams who have taken the time to get the right skill to beat a dungeon should not be punished because trash can **** their face.
Also, slightly on topic. The dragon events are way too easy and not at all fun. Please make harder and give better loot. They are THE bosses after all.

I tried making my character “Agent Stx” and it said it was reserved… I find it hard to believe that an ingame npc would be called that, but okay… Stx The Shadow is growing on me.
Its not an NPC name, its someone from the first guild wars game that reserved the name. You could try it without a space, guidl wars 1 didnt allow single word names
Either your powersupply is crapping out because it cant supply your graphics card enough power or you have a virus. What is in your PC?
Hmm this probably wont help but can you check your internet explorer settings and make sure cookies are enabled? I know it gives that message when you try to goto the trading post URL without a valid cookie ID generated by the game, so maybe somehow your games “browser” is unable to save that cookie because of your internet explorer settings? Worth a shot lol
Reserved character names from the first game will be released soon. I believe they were waiting on fixing some issues with the hall of monuments or something.
You aren’t meant to perma stealth while you get all the way in behind enemy lines. It is a quick strategic stealth used to get away/behind from an attacker and get a little edge on him. I do agree 3 seconds is a bit too short though. Minimum 5 seconds would be nice.
Do you know which ones drop like the crystal lodestones?
I can only commend Arenanet for the Sylvari. I noticed their lack of sexual orientation when I helped a female sylvari scort her to her life partner.
Agreed, I think they are really well done, all the way from art to story behind them.
Sylvari don’t bear children as they all come from the Pale Tree. From what I’ve read about them though, they don’t quite understand the other races attitudes towards gender. If they are attracted to someone, regardless of their gender, they are going to be with them. Maybe the best way to describe them would be bi-sexual.
Thanks for making that clear!
Lol I didn’t intend to make it funny, I’m just interested in the story behind this, whether its wide spread through out the race, or just these 2 different characters.
Im pretty sure there is nothing offensive about my post, the word gay itself is not offensive.
So far I have noticed 2 instances of homosexuality in the sylvari. Caithe and another woman sylvari seem to be lovers in the Pale Tree’s Vision of Orr story. Another instance I noticed was in Mockery of Death I had to protect Dagdar’s beloved Eladus, another male, from a soldier.
I was wondering if the Sylvari are meant to be this way, as in can they procreate with members of the same sex (or asexually, as some plants), or are they gay by choice and I just happened to find 2 instances of this? It’s kinda a cool thing to include in the game’s lore.
Do you have any actual tips specifically for the Nvidia GPU settings? The title is a bit misleading when you only provide fan speed information.
So just hit 80, and this post is not another “why is there no moar content” thread but I do need some assistance in what to do next.
I am a tailor, level 400, and I want to start making exotics. Ectoplasm and types of lodestones are needed for some of these recipes. What do I need to do in order to get these?
Also, what trend has been noted mostly in the quality of armor sets, stat wise? Is craft armor the best? Dungeon? Drops? Something else entirely? Looks wise I have found that the Orrian dungeon set is one of the best looking. I know I am not meant to grind out better and better gear but I do want the best gear I can get so I can dominate in WvW and Dungeons(Probably 2-3 different sets).
Thanks
Easier is bad. This game takes skill, which requires you position yourself correctly. This game style will not and cannot have any auto movement features.
I would definitelly prefer to make a name for myself in WvW, rather than maybe possibly being singled out sometimes. I want the enemy to fear ME, not just see a mass of randoms coming at them. Sure its not “realistic” for an army to know the names of their enemies, but I also don’t know the names of all my allies either.
Hopefully its against the rules, I think its lame when people in other games do this.
So because you think its lame, it should be against the rules? Why does it matter if other people are enjoying their game the way they want to enjoy it?
Anti-botting probably got you. They aren’t too fond of any type of grinding. Try moving around to different areas every now and then.
There is no OP class, its all person skill. If you are being killed frequently by another class then your build is not designed correctly to counter that class. Look into a respec.
Hmm? What? This guy I’ve been fighting in WvW can out damage me, heal more than me, use stealth, and take less damage then me. You figure it out. I’ll stick with the class until 80 to really see, but as it currently stand Guardians and Thiefs reck my face regardless.
I haven’t played a ranger yet, but if you have anything to keep the guardian from stacking his buffs, he wont be able to do much. As for thieves, you just have to recognize when they are about to attack, dodge it, and once they have blown all their initiative they are basically sitting ducks, and you have the range to catch them while they attempt to run.
I being a Mesmer felt pretty under-powered until today when I saw this really amazing Mesmer completely destroy me by constantly keeping up all 3 illusions, stealthing away, stacking bleeds. Even when i was sure I had the real player, I always ended up on a clone again somehow. I’m in the process of redesigning my entire thinking of the profession so that I can pull off a similar skill level.

As the owner of the siege you can take it over, even if someone else is on it. You dont have to be the one buying siege at level 11 either.
No ones buying them right now cause the games only last a day. Wait til they are 2 week battles.
I dont think they can enforce no gambling when this jerk char npc can take all of my money (50 silver at the time) as a wager for seeing how far he can launch a cow >< stupid popup window with a timer made me panic so I clicked something and then i was out of money to even port around
Play the game, not the market..
Some of us are really into business and the market is a really intriguing part of the game
Its not so much that I want easy money, but iron is going for 5 copper right now, 1/4 the price of copper! Sure its basic supply and demand, more people need copper to level their early crafting so the demand is higher than iron right now, but it still doesnt make sense seeing as iron is a better metal than copper. Platinum IIRC is also very close to the same price as iron as well, which is complete garbage.
Supply and demand isn’t the only issue here, its people not understanding their real life time that they spent gathering materials is worth a helluva lot more than 5 copper a piece. Children are only interested in seeing that their item sells first, so they put it up for the lower than the last guy. Eventually everything will be vendor cost.
To the other guy that replied, you do have some valid points which I intend to test out, its just lame being 80 and I have 20 silver because I had to either spend my time not leveling and grinding mats (only to be slowed by anti-botting code), or the option which I chose: buy the hard to get mats. I am finally level 400 tailor so at least I dont have to waste mats any more but im getting into exotics now and apparently I have to salvage exotics to get ecto to make my own exotics and bleh. I dont have that kind of money :/
I have an idea for a decent gambling game inside the game. Honestly I think this community is one of the best to have such games as everyone I have ever traded with has been trust worthy. If anyone wants to beta test my game with me on darkhaven, we can play for small wagers
PS. I have a full proof logging system should there be any disputes in my game
(edited by Masterpyro.4310)
Please dear god do something about this.. My suggestion would be to have a TP for each server. That way supply dips way down(nearly 6 million soft wood is available currently) and demand goes way up creating higher profits for all!
If this were a real market, I would agree with low amount of restrictions, but the goal of a game is fun, and I am having no fun playing in the market when I can’t make any decent profit. Sure the higher level stuff is less effected by this, but that leaves this part of the game only fun for max levelers and such.
People take being a guild leader too seriously. Join a guild with like just your real life friends or something if this stuff bothers you.
I don’t know if this mesmer I ran into in WvW had a fantastic build that I have yet to discover or what, but as a mesmer myself, I did not understand how they constantly had 3 illusions up. And even when I was completely sure which was them, I was wrong. I would almost call hacks if I wasn’t too prideful to give them such a compliment. But whatever they were doing was amazing.
