Here’s some images of the problem areas. As you can see in all of these, this isnt even “base”. This is the mountains surrounding the little town which is the base. The bounding box for invulnerability should be gone once I am away from the town.

Here I’m not even in the base and should be perfectly fair game to the enemy team but nope they can slash away at me all they want, by the time they realize I’m taking advantage of an exploit, their dead.

And of course here, where I ran through my portal. I should accept my defeat and actually goto my base. But nope, il just stand here safe from all harm while I continue to hit people I don’t deserve to hit or mock them with some dancing. Even though that scorpion wire should be able to wrap around my neck right here.
K I can’t tell if any of you actually ready my post or you’re all just plain stupid. I don’t want to spawn camp for the last kitten time. And I am not talking about being a zerg rushing 2 guys into their base. What I am talking about, are fair 1v1 – 5v5 fights that someone starts, realizes they made a mistake in starting that fight, and wont accept their mistake by using all their stupid tricks to get away and jump through their safety zone portal. Let me once again make it clear that I am talking about the main citadel base, the 2 southern spawns are fine the way they are.
My point is that as soon as they do that, they have no shame in standing on the very edge of the cliff, or worse in an area that should be perfectly fair game but the bounding box for the spawn has imperfections, and continues to try and win the fight they don’t deserve to win and /dancing cause they’re safe and sound. These are the people I have a complaint about. If you want to roll through your portal and that’s the last I see you, fine so be it. But standing and mocking me on a cliff when you were the kitten that ran is ridiculous. Those people I should still be able to kill if they choose to stand within range of my abilities.

That’s not a solution, they ran there, I must attempt to kill them until I no longer cannot. If it moves I must kill it.

Then this is another issue they should look at. It’s fine and good to have invuln actually IN your base where the little town is. But where I am talking about, they are 2 minutes walk from the nearest anything on top of cliffs where they can be apart of the battle. All I ask is that if they can hit me, I can hit them. Simple as that.

You’re right, I shouldn’t be there. I should be where the fight was initiated, but most classes have insane running abilities to stay just far enough ahead to where you simply cannot catch until they run out, but base is far too close for them anywhere on the map from garrison and up.
Sorry, we will have to agree to disagree, I have zero respect for anyone that spawn camps. Personally I think the only one that is being humiliated and showing how bad they are is you for trying to kill someone that you know is invulnerable.
How many times do I have to say we weren’t camping spawn.. I JUST got there after pushing their forces back from our tower. Obviously I’m not going to let them get away if I have the chance to get them. If that’s what you expect me to do in a PvP server you’re insane. I saw the buff I was only attacking in that spot because one of theirs wasn’t safe like they thought for some reason(the one on the ground taking the damage, not the one I’m targeting)
Also like I said, I would prefer to have a better match up where this isn’t as big of an issue, it’s no fun for either side. But still the problem remains, as the losing side sees this and exploits it like its cool that they’re invulnerable at their base, when they should be growing sacks and planning with their team a way to take back some land.

There are no defenders at the base I am talking about. The citadel in the middle only has gates around it for people to go through and then snipe people on top of the mountains while they are perfectly safe.
The reason this is an issue to me is not because I can’t roflstomp baddies that run for their base with their tails between their legs(although people should have more pride and die when they meet a foe they could not concur), it is because the area defined around the bases is flawed in a way that allows invulnerability when they should not have it. If you were on your own map, you used to be able to go in a spot inside the enemy’s garrison and be invulnerable while you took out their second gate. The simple solution is just to remove an unnecessary “feature” if they tweak it only to leave or create new problems in the containment of this area.
You can see in my image that there is no reason for them to be invulnerable when I am within melee range. There was also another person in a spot behind me several feet away from the cliff yet was still invulnerable shooting arrows at people.
The line is drawn at the guards, and there really doesn’t need to be further humiliation of getting killed standing near guards by the already dominating team.
Agree to disagree. Personally I think I should be able to humiliate a loser to the fullest extent, and also make it known to them how bad they are. ANet has some different idea’s on how they wish to run their community. If only they could copy&paste this game and make it for hardcore players instead of casual. Would be so much more fun.

Guards can be invuln for all I care, I dont want to camp bases, I really dont. I am incredibly bored owning the whole map only running in a circle taking back single camps until we catch up to the small group taking them and wipe them out. A new matchup will help but there will come a point in every match where someone runs to their base like a kitten cause they realized they can’t finish the fight they started, and then they sit and laugh at you cause you can’t touch them, but they can touch you.
They shouldn’t be removed, however I think the Orbs and the Unmanned buff should switch. We are decimating on our server with all 3 orbs, maybe not only because we have them, but because we do and we are winning, the other teams are unmotivated to play, and the only people that are on are tiny groups. These groups should have a little increased power so they are actually a challenge for us, while we get increased drops from the extra boosts from our orbs (now with the unmanned stats). WvW is INCREDIBLY boring when the enemy can’t take a single structure stronger than a camp from you.
We just pushed them back from the tower west of garrison back into the citadel. Either way our matchup is horrible and we have 350k on them owning the whole map all week so the only place to kill players is their base gates. I have suggested a few times to people just to get off for a bit and let them take some things back, but people that invested in keeps aren’t thrilled about that.
The main issue is that the server simply does not/cannot send location data for every player within your range. A few things that could help this is to some how lower the amount of information required to render a target, at a minimum just have their location. One-size-fits-all character models for each race and gender on the enemy team should also help this as well. I haven’t noticed this being completely implemented but there are aspects of it.
Seeing as how its impossible to get into an enemy base, be it legendary guards one-shotting an entire group, or the sheer height of the terrain, I find it incredibly unnecessary to give players inside their own base(and the clipping for this is very exploitable) a buff that makes them invulnerable. Any time an enemy group is pushed back into their base, they always stand on the edge of the mountain and kill stupid players that don’t understand they can’t be touched. I should be able to hit them if they can hit me, or at least let my scorpion wire pull them down. Please don’t cater to kitten tactics like this.

I think the transmutation stones are actually brilliantly done, the way you can choose either pieces look, stats, AND rune. And as some of you have pointed out they are a way for ANet to make some money, which they need and deserve for their work already and continuously being put into the game.
That said, I think they could have combined their current system with that of lotro’s and allowed permanently unlocking armor skins, similar to the dye system. This UI panel could take the place of the town cloths tab, cause seriously who wears those when it takes away your ability to use skills to help you move faster in the town.
IMO these items are worthless anyway, but i made sure to grab em up before the update that took out the Mystic recipes. $$$$$$$$$$

You can already do that by learning the 6 different armor naming schemes. Just enter the one you are looking for into the search with your other filters.
I.E. “Strong” armor grants Power+precision.
Both of these issues are most likely the culling issue, where the game does not receive the location information of another player immediately, or when there are too many around. No one can do an attack in stealth and then not be taken out of stealth and placed on a stealth cool down where they cannot again enter stealth for a short time. No matter how much time they managed to stack such as described in scree’s post. Kinda tempted to seeing if that works though, I did not know stealth stacked time.
Will report to exploits at arenanet if I find anything that is not intentional of the game’s mechanics.

Fair point. That seems logical enough to work. I use my heal when, well, I NEED healed. If I have to dodge, then I have to dodge, and making me wait another 3 seconds to cast again just isn’t ok.
It doesn’t have to be super condensed but some of the ways they designed cities are a bit inconvenient. Banks and trading posts are never nearby except in the case of Rata Sum, but then crafting stations are a good 15 seconds away(which is a long time when there is nothing interesting to do between point A and B ). The vendors in LA all have the same gold coins over their head so to me those look like vendors that should sell me gathering tools, its just a bit frustrating when the first 10 I check have nothing of value for anyone that isn’t a cook.
Some of it just feels more like a subscription MMO trying to waste my time when they don’t have to do that with their business model.
This is something I hope they look into. The game is built around movement and positioning and NOT standing still casting autoattacks, so I’m a bit confused by the need to stand still while casting some skills. As someone who has figure out how to cast magical spells at all, I think I would have found a way to do it while taking a step to the left at the same time.
It’s been posted several times before but its not a bug its just not an included feature yet. Basically the shop runs in a web browser inside the game, it is not part of the native game code. The website has no direct way of interfacing with your game yet to tell it to open the preview panel with the item you selected, but they have said they are working on it.
It usually depends on how you got it. Personal story stuff is always soulbound. The rare hat at the end of a story dungeon is always soulbound. If it felt like it was anything that was personal only for you, it will always be soulbound. If it was just a random drop off a mob than that may be a bug.
Vendors in MMOs are nearly always useless unless you just have nothing. I don’t understand it really, but it makes it so you have to work for things that are actually good. Also find it weird theres like 10 vendors in Lions Arch that sell like 1-2 food items and that’s it, like everyone is a chef.

I am playing a thief now after hitting 80 as a Mesmer. I liked it but PvP seems to be more fun on the thief. I like a close up battle sometimes with the option of range.
Get the gear set that looks the best to you. They all have the same stats. You have no subscription so it doesn’t matter how long it takes to get it. Just find the dungeon you have to run for the gear you want and figure out how to do it best.
Market is global, the prices are the same everywhere.
Armor disappeared when I tried to equip it.

I hope they can help you with this. Even though they say they don’t have a system in place to do this, I’m sure there is some way. Even if it means going directly to the game database. That kind of loss would make me quit :/
Sure theyll do that, if you want to give them the money each month to provide for developing the system, keeping it running, as well as hiring additional CS staff.
Gladly if it puts insurance on the time I spend playing. If a B2P/gem store model can’t support a basic support team, then that’s not a model they should use for an AAA MMO. I’ve funded 2-3 billable hours of work on that system with my gem purchases alone, so I don’t think that’s an excuse.
All of that would be seen though in the logs. And obviously abuse of this system would result in a ban. Either way it is way better to have a system that they can control completely than something with little control at all.
If there is a bug that loses some items/gold of someone, they should be able to replace it, not say tough luck we cant and forget about it.

As a web and java developer myself, as well as a player who has come across several in game bugs and inconveniences, it astounds me that developer time is being spent on developing a roleback system that will completely roleback an entire account to a certain point in time that accounts were saved (probably only once or twice a day). This system, I would assume, will require a system to record account information and save it like a backup file to disk, whenever automatic saving is done.
This system is incredibly inefficient and possibly even more damaging than what I may ask to have fixed on my account. Say I accidentally deleted my Twilight legendary sword. I put in a support ticket (assuming you also don’t have in-game GMs yet either..), I now have to wait upwards of 24 hours and in some cases several days before I get a response. My only option here is to not make any progress on any of my characters until I receive help and my account is rolledback, or lose all that progress in the mean time.
Here is how this system should work:
Every action and manipulation of an item a character does is logged. Vendor transactions, mail, trading post, transmutations, etc. Each of these actions need to be individually logged so that they can individually be undone, investigated, or modified.
Logs can be purged every 5-10 days or so, so as not to take up too much database space. This system can easily interface with the server’s API and maybe even be accessible to your mods from their website accounts (with added security of course).
Attached is a rough mockup I did of how this system could work. I believe this is the type of tool you want as a company to control the data in your game. You guys should have complete control over every aspect, but what you are designing now limits what you can do with your own product. That’s not the ArenaNet way.
PS: I also don’t believe for a second that in 6 years of development you not once created a tool that can give your character gold. You did not grind gold or karma when testing a new vendor you added to the game. Don’t lie to us saying you don’t have that capability.
Also, there are AT LEAST 5 threads on the first page of this forum that have had item or gold issue, and currently your only answer is “Sorry, nothing we can do”. That will not be tolerated forever and it feels like you don’t really want to help people that have issues because that may hurt gem store sales. If that is the case, I would rather pay a subscription any day than have everything I can do in the game be influenced on using the gem store. I have spent around $160 in the store already because I enjoy the convenience of getting some quick gold when I’m in the mood to craft or something. That’s ok because that’s my choice, but please don’t inconvenience me in some way on purpose to force me to buy something to replace losses or otherwise.

An employee posted in a thread about this that it’s fine to take the 1 copper to delete. You won’t be banned for the 1 copper, they will only be concerned over several gold.

I have not setup any macros on my keyboard yet, but I paid $80 a piece for both my Razer keyboard and mouse, surely, as long as I am physically at my computer, you aren’t going to tell me I can’t use the extra macro buttons. The only thing I can think of doing is firing a utility soon after a weapon skill or something, the game is designed in a way that I don’t REALLY need them. But if i want to use them for 2 or even 3 commands, you wouldn’t ban me for that would you?
It shouldn’t be a level 400 recipe. The shadow set for tailor creates a level 25 or 35 armor set and it looked pretty cool. Was hoping there was a similar set that can be crafted as a leatherworker.
Tailor has the shadow set recipes acquired from a karma vendor, I am wondering if leatherworking has a similar set from another vendor, and possibly where to get it. Thanks
If you really don’t want it you can also “Return to sender”. They wont ban you for taking 1 copper. Surely at least that much was acquired legitimately on their account at some point.
Why anyone is still doing dungeons until they fix this is beyond me :P just wait til the next patch to even look at the entrance of one.
Exactly, that’s what I do like about the recent update, the extra tokens for doing each path. That is a step in the right direction. The step back however is not giving people any tokens at all if they can’t beat the whole dungeon. Some people don’t have 4 hours to run with a group of pugs, I should still get my rewards if I now have to find someone else or quit entirely and then get locked out for a bit.
I think a big part of them deciding how to fix this was how dungeon/instances are already handled. I can’t imagine how confusing it is to lock X players to Y instance of Z dungeon for Q amount of time, and then determine if and when this player can play with a new group in a different instance. So leaving and joining instances will have to be hugely rewritten for our ideas to work, but I really believe it needs to be done for dungeons to:
A)Be fun
and
B)Be worth doing
There needs to be a perfect balance of these 2 things if I am required to pay 1200ish tokens for an armor set, then I need a weapon or a Legendary Gift as well.

I use siege weapons to bombard and destroy your territory and kill you. Sounds an awful lot like war to me. Just because its within a game doesn’t change that this is a war simulation.

But now you might say “well thats not fair, so-and-so server has almost no one on at night. Your title makes no sense.. Anyway, I think the current repair system works exactly how they wanted it to. It doesn’t hurt you if you are just out playing the game, taking hits but never dying. But, if you are running into fights that you cannot handle, they make you take a moment to stop and throw away your money in the hopes that you will rethink what you are doing, because it is wrong. If you are dying too often you are doing it wrong and need to reassess how you are playing.
A lot of people have expressed concern in the current dungeon reward system since the latest updates. I have a few ideas which may be similar to many others, but I would like to get out there hopefully in time to possibly be an influence to a slightly different system. Some of these go for the open world as well, but the main focus is dungeons.
1) Never ever ever ever programmatically lower rewards based on how good someone is at something. If people find a way to clear a dungeon quickly, let them take home the rewards for doing it. But now is your turn to decide if either they are really that good or your dungeon isn’t hard enough, and you can make adjustments. (Same for open world, do not lower rewards because I am grinding an area, I may need a ton of craft mats. If you suspect botting, warn or ban these players, do not punish me for playing the game how I like).
This said, I believe the current system that allows you to get a larger reward for completing each path the first time each day is perfect. But only limit that to the extra 40 tokens earned for that first run. After that, ONLY take those extra tokens away, nothing else. XP, coins, and drops should remain the same. Modify base rewards as necessary for this system to work.
2) Offer a way for casual groups to still take token rewards from not completing a dungeon all the way through. Exploreable dungeons take a LONG time to fully complete and not everyone in the group can stay for an entire run. I saw one developer state that tokens may be added as rare drops. I don’t believe that is the correct solution. That is still only a chance that they will get a reward. Here is my idea:
Have the boss chests drop an item(say a trophy/bosses head, whatever) that the person standing at the door will accept for 5 tokens for that dungeon. However, trading your trophies with him will lock you out of the dungeon for 30 minutes. This way, if someone leaves your group, or you just can’t get past a boss, you still get a reward.
It also works as an “I give up” system which gives a player a moderate-but-not-too-long amount of time to regroup, restrategize and retry the dungeon. OR, it works like an “I won” system, in that you are rewarded for what you’ve done, but keeps you from speed clearing (aka grinding, which was a key selling point of the game). However, it is incredibly important that this time be short, 15-45 minutes at the most. Enough time to stop speed runs, but also not too long to where it prevents the player from playing how and when they like.
Dungeons would also NOT reset automatically. You would be locked to that dungeon instance until you have talked to the npc at the door(what else are they for?) and either traded him your trophies thus locking you out, or if you didn’t get any, maybe an instant reset. Either way, there should not be a way to automatically reset the instance by relogging. Give the door NPC a use.
That’s all I remember at the moment, I will add more as I do. Thanks for reading, apologies for the wall of text. Please discuss what you guys think, I think my ideas are headed in the right direction but I’d like to hear more so that this reward system will one day be perfect.
Ask using the appropriate method: contact support. This is a public forum not for private matters. Also, games are NEVER EVER playable with just minimum requirements, and only a slight or even sometimes a big jump wont even change that. What are your system specs?

There’s still no valid reason to be that guy that’s gotta take away everyone else’s points because you didn’t take the time to do it again. At most they gained 1-2 more single points. You can make that back 16 times by doing your daily, and someone having more than you doesn’t matter at all.
What do you mean private mail? If I send you mail, it’s private, only your account can see it..
