It is mainly an issue with that zone and setting. For now you can just turn depth blur off in that zone and turn it back on everywhere else.
They have no way to do this. They didn’t built the tools that are able to bring back an item, the best they could do is roll back your entire account to before the last save point. And I dont think thats even ready yet.
Yes, just wait til the server is no longer full to switch.
Wish we could completely country or even state lock our accounts. That way no one across any border could ever access our account.
Don’t all stand in the same place next time, youll get him then.
Merging my thread I just created:
So suddenly I’m just missing some gold.. TP is down so I know I didn’t buy anything. Here’s everything I did.
Had 5g54s
Deposited 1g to bank. Leaves me with 4g54s.
Go craft 12 greens to throw into mystic forge. Buy 6 silk threads totaling 28s80c.
Do nothing else but craft those items with mats I already had. Throw items into forge.
Fail miserably and still have 3 greens, craft 1 more to try 1 more time. Still green. Salvage item with rage.
Goto vendor to sell junk, notice I have 2g81s65c.
Wonder who broke math.
Where could my money have gone?? I attempted to buy some stuff hours ago on TP but got errors and none ever completed before it went down again. Issue maybe?
Please promptly develop proper admin tools for yourselves and then find where my moneys went please
PS: Am I an idiot for trying to craft my own greens to forge into a rare or does this only work with green drops? I got 2 forged rares out of looted armor and weapons earlier and then I make 12 master armor items and all give me greens back
Thanks, I will merge my post
I have no money waiting for me. I assume it could come later, but it just took it and the TP is still down so I’m just confused. You’d think it would either complete all or none of a transaction.

My issue is that I was able to hit 80 after 205 hours but the rest of my friends in my guild have lives so they aren’t 80 yet so we can’t do the same dungeons together or be at the same level in WvW, or their sleeping and im fine being up at 5am bored by myself :P
There are issues with the game sure but for the most part they end up being personal issue with how you played the game and how you should have played. I’m happy with everything but the market really.
Exploits could cause HUGE real money costs for them what are you talking about? Remember gems don’t have to be purchased with real cash, you can buy for in game gold as well. If suddenly someone can make a million gold and transfer that into gems for himself or worse distribute that gold to a ton of others to turn into gems, their major source of income is destroyed.
That depends on how gems a generated. If they are generated like EvE plexes – there is no problem for company.
What do you mean generated? There isn’t a set amount available, if I want some right now for Gold I can buy em, same for cash. They don’t lose money, but they lose potential sales because suddenly everyone has a ton of in game gold to buy with. That is why the game is designed around you being short on gold all the time. They don’t want to see the market inflate because it makes buying gems easier with gold and they want you to buy with cash.
Ugh. It’s hard to play with my inventory full of stuff I want to sell.
Anyways is there a good reason for it being down for almost 24(?) hours besides “maintenance”?There’s at least 1 obvious exploit being heavily hammered right now (no I won’t say which it is because it’s really BAD to do on a forum).
Games like GW2 or EvE Online rely on their economy not being devastated by those exploits because they immediately turn into massive gems / PLEX damage and that damage directly maps on real money damage for the company.
This is why they bring the TP down at the first sign of something suspicious going on, they really lose money if they don’t.You’re wrong, exploits don’t cost either of these companies any real money. For plexes , or in this case Gems, to enter the economy someone has to buy them in the first place, there aren’t some seeded there by the companies.
Once the gem has been bought into the economy by a player ANet already has the financial worth of it on their bank sheet. What happens with the gem from that point onwards, inside the game economy, be it traded speculatively for gold or removed from the economy via a gem store purchase is of no consequence.

People who complain about 1c undercutting must not have bought stocks/foreign currencies/bonds etc in real life. That is exactly how real world economics/finance work. Hyper-trading by large financial firms work at extremely small differences in prices.
If you have problem with 1c undercutting then you don’t understand economics nor human behaviour.
I’ve bought stocks in real life and GW2 market is not at all similar. I can choose to sell my stock at a loss sure, but you sure as hell wont see me do that on purpose. The problem is that in game gold doesn’t matter to anyone. If I dont have enough gold at the end of the month, I don’t lose my house or my car, I just can’t use that waypoint over there.
Ugh. It’s hard to play with my inventory full of stuff I want to sell.

Tell us when the BLTC is going to be back up instead of waxing lyrical about how they’re hemorrhaging money right now. (Yeah right!)
Or, stop wildly speculating. Conjecture just confuses people and leads to misinformation.
Not at all an employee type response lol
And Yeah, right. ANet spent ALL of the money from pre-sales on finishing the game and now they really need gem shop money to keep going.
Because it is. Really.
For the buyer, always the buyer. There will never ever be a time that this market becomes a sellers market. There will never ever be a time that there will be incentive for crafting. That makes crafting an obsolete part of the game, might as well remove it.
My problem isn’t the fact that someone else takes a loss. I could give 2 kitten. What bothers me is that their decision to be impatient and sell immediately, EVEN when their reason is so they don’t have to go to a person to do it meaning they don’t need the money anytime soon, they still put the item up for an extremely reduced price, causing everyone else who clicks “Lowest seller” to immediately start selling at that extremely reduced rate, and then that becomes the new price of that item.
That is NOT the real value of the item even though people are willing to sell for that much. I have a ton of iron to get rid of, I dont believe at all that its only worth 5 copper, but im going to get rid of it anyway at 5 copper because it wont sell otherwise. Not a single person can possibly believe that iron, a more valuable metal than copper, is worth less than that.
I don’t care if I have to put something up for a day, but waiting several weeks to months for the market to balance out is ridiculous. They should have some sort of economic education before being allowed to participate or something… Same for the internet. Stupid people just bug me ><
PS: I don’t argue the fact you can find items to play and profit off of for a bit, I have 5 gold because I find those every now and then. But there shouldn’t just be 1 item that sometimes works and then you have to fine another. Every master and higher craft item should sell at mats+fees and still give the crafter a profit.
(edited by Masterpyro.4310)
I don’t see a contradiction to explain, sorry. Maybe if you nit pick my wording, but I am only on one side of the argument.
No, obviously I wouldn’t see the price and say “oh ya I’d like to pay more” but even if I did want to, say I’d like to give those people that have been sitting in the market for months with a price that got undercutted, I couldn’t help them cause even if I entered in their price it would first try to sell me every other cheaper item before I could buy theirs.
Point is there shouldn’t be 1 central thing that is the only 1 economy. Let people have their own shops, allow P2P trading, anything that doesn’t condense the global economy into 1 spot. Problem is, ANet thinks that’s the greatest thing about their trading post.
A buyers market just isn’t fun for any seller. Why should I craft you something nice when I end up losing money because mat cost + market fees take that away from me. There’s no incentive for me to craft anything. If you don’t call that a problem with the market then its a problem for crafting because why did I waste my time getting my craft level up if I cant use it for profit. I don’t care that my craft is level 400, that’s just a number, I want money that I can spend and do things with.
Also, you feel like you come out with a profit. Sure you got rid of something you got from a drop and you have a higher number of coins than you did before. But did you actually account for the amount of time that you took out of your life to go get that item? If your answer to this is “I dont care, but I got paid” then you are not a person that has a say in this argument, because you don’t care. All I want is a functional market that is fun for both sides of the transaction. The market is what’s fun for me in this type of game and if people that dont care have a say in how it works then that kills the fun for people like me.
(edited by Masterpyro.4310)
I have to disagree with you there. In a real economy with competition, it takes buyers time to research where they can get the best prices and then weigh that against whether they go all the way out of town to get that best price or settle with the place closer by with a slightly higher price. The problem with the TP is that it is the only economy and it spoon feeds buyers with the lowest prices automatically. Even if I wanted to pay more, it would still give me the cheapest one anyway.
So I’m on the side that continuous undercutting eventually leads to a market that is no fun for sellers. And this is a game isn’t it? Fun is the goal.
If no one wants the item then it will never sell anyway, no matter the price.
It’s not even possible to sell below vendor.. The buyers are unable to purchase that item. If it sells then there is a bug that will be fixed.
From twitter: BLTC update: Gem Store and Currency Exchange are done w/ maintenance. Character Slots & Digital Deluxe Upgrade are temp unavailable. ^RB
If theres a problem with it, why would you want to spend your gems on it. You still wouldnt receive the slot right away even if you spent them. You don’t have to level up a new character with your friend, you have the option of being downleveled on a higher character to your friends zone. Not a solution to your problem but it works for now. Always expect bugs in such massive software and you wont be so disappointed.
I don’t mean remove later and sell to vendor, all im saying is sell it at the current price on the market, dont take the extra time to enter in the vendor price and ruin things for people that could make a profit from the item. Just click “Lowest Seller” and leave it. It will sell. Everything I have ever posted from one location has sold by the time I walked to the TP guy, and I have never manually entered a price for anything lower(higher i have) than that cost.
Also I dont even understand not being able to walk to a vendor. There has never ever been a time that I looked at my minimap and not saw some icon of a person I can sell to.
You will rarely ever get information like that from a private company. Posting that would be admitting to a defect in their product and could effect sales. I agree that I would like such information, but I doubt its coming. We’re lucky we even get a change log.
When issues occur they have to fix them manually, but it is logged. Submit a support ticket if you feel its needed to make them aware that the trading post has incomplete transactions.
I said I heard thats what it was, so I’m not sure. But the amount of time a fix takes depends on whether its something simple thats not a huge deal, or something that a team of developers and management need to have a meeting about, make the change and then test appropriately before throwing it out to the rest of us.
Because there was a reason it happened. Someone may have found an exploit and changed it, so thats a pretty huge ordeal finding a fix to an exploit. Or maybe just a huge flux of buys/sells from one side of the exchange that they didnt expect, then they have to have a meeting with all relevant people to decide how it should be fixed, and then get the programmers to fix it, then test it before making it live again to us.
It’s not just as simple as entering xgems = ygold and commit that change to the live environment
There was an issue with it that it wasn’t even giving the extra slot for people, so I bet they took it out until they fix it. Obviously they wont get rid of it for good.
Except for this part:
“Sorry! Your order did not match…please refresh and try again.” I did that a few times, then tried scraps with the same result.
Now I am out 6 gold because in the end it actually DID perform the transaction and I now have 45 bolts and 40 scraps of gossamer when I only needed 5 freaking bolts.
That’s unacceptable.
If it says “Sorry, refresh and try again.” then it should NOT complete the transaction in any way, shape, or form.
So just sell them back when it comes back up. Simple bug, nothing is lost.
My order got registered, yet when it came up i never recieved anything (my pickup list is EMPTY)
I bought way to many bloods, therefor ate ALL of my gold.
If i got one or the other back i could live with that, as i just resell the bloods (even if its with a loss)
get your act togheter
Same thing, simple bug. They took it down for a reason: Something was wrong. Once they fix it your items/gold will be in your pickup tab. That has always been the case with trading post bugs. All “broken” transactions have been either completed or refunded correctly.
(edited by Masterpyro.4310)
What I don’t understand is if you throw stuff up just to get rid of it, why throw it up just to vendor cost if your whole point of selling it is so you dont have to go anywhere immediatly to do so. Just put it up for the current “Lowest Seller” cost and leave it there until you come across a TP person again in a few hours. Selling it at vendor makes it sell almost instantly and for no purpose because you wont pick up that money instantly anyway, maybe not even for a few hours.
If you’re just gonna dump trash you don’t care about, either walk your fatass to the nearest vendor or put it up matching the current low price so you don’t ruin the market for the rest of us.
edit: you being them, not OP :P
The reason it is down is because of the gem store I believe. I heard gem to gold ratio’s changed significantly or something. I assume the whole BLTC goes offline when something like that goes wrong.
Id like to see point cards on amazon. Then I could use my Amazon credit that’s just sitting there on gems xD
Trading post transactions are all logged, you will get your loot/items when it comes back up
Agreed, just soulbind everything used please. Especially bags. 50 silver for a 12 slot that I doubt il get 10silver back from one day ><
EDIT: Although most of the blue and lower armor you get in drops is completely useless all the time anyway, so theres something that should be fixed as well. Rather have craft drops than a piece of blue armor with stats that are lower than another blue I got several levels ago.
Bags should be soulbound after use. Only way they will be worth anything ever.
I’m sure they could create some type of regex that could search for variations of certain sites like egin and fasteve, even if they have spaces between them or something.
Restyle maybe, but you will never see a race change and probably not a gender change either. It just doesnt make sense to allow you to completely change your race. Just re-roll if you dont like what you have. There isn’t much content after 80 to do anyway, you go through the content while you level. They will want you to do it again, from a different point of view to get the full story.
dear god please do this xD eventually id like to be able to do all dances, reguardless of race. /dance1, /dance2 etc.
I don’t think a shield strap is a huge deal, but reaching for an arrow from a quiver that does not exist bugs the crap out of me on my thief lol
Everyone else has an opinion of what should be changed and new ideas that could make the game better so I thought I’d put in my own ideas as well. Not looking to start a huge discussion on who has better opinions, but I wanna leave this here to possibly be seen and pondered over.
A few things I’d like to see would be:
1) I want to matter as an individual in WvW. I want the other team to see my name and see my gear and fear me when I come at them because they already see the armor repairing fees in their future. The point that I may possibly remember a persons name and target them is exactly what should happen, otherwise I’m just another nameless soldier on a battlefield. Realistically no I don’t know the names of my enemies, but this is a game, and I want recognition for stomping faces.
Personal stats from WvW/sPvP displayed online or something would be awesome too, and also an in game way to see server ranks.
2)C.O.D mail delivery. It’s just needed, plenty of threads about it already but just another bump. It won’t hurt the economy and will only protect from scammers(unless you are prepared to answer a million scam support tickets AND refund the lost items). Can even include a mailing fee(which with all the other gold sinks already I’m surprised there isn’t one to send any type of mail)
3)The gear “grind” is way too short, once I’m 80 and get my first tier exotic gear, I’m done, that’s it, nothing is better. And the idea that “the gear you have shouldn’t set you apart from another player” sounds great and fair and balanced on paper but in practice makes my weeks or months of hard work nothing compared to that idiot that just bought the game and got 80 in a weekend. I don’t want to run 1 dungeon 8000 times to get the 22nd tier gear and pwn everyone lesser, but I should be able to advance further than 1 last armor tier at max level and thats that. (obviously skill is very important and I love that it is, best part of the game, but at the same time I earned SOMETHING by working harder for longer).
TL;DR Perfect balance is not always fun. In WvW, you have to earn your gear which gets you a little further ahead of someone else. Please make more armor tiers at max level and leave “perfect balance” to sPvP, thats where it fits.
Community
You’ve managed to build a great community. During headstart while TP was down I could trust everyone to trade through mail, people would kindly pick you up if you were dead. But the 1 thing that I think is hurting just a bit, is the fact that I have to think about everything I say. I’m afraid I’ll lose my game privilages if I manage to hurt some kids feelings somehow. Don’t get me wrong, not everyone needs to be told they’re “kitten noobs” all the time, but some people, they really need to know they are just bad. I want them to get better because they are on my team in WvW. It kills me to refrain from telling them they suck because I could be banned for it.
Just my thoughts on the game in it’s current form. A final note I leave to ANet is this: You have a great great game here. I’ve logged over 280 hours already and still loving all the content and that wont change for a long while. That said, there are things that are not perfect, but that you have the capability to make perfect. Please don’t let your own ideals about what the game should be ALWAYS outweigh what the community wants to see. Stick to your guns but know when you are wrong and something needs changed. Keep this in mind and your game will continue to thrive for a long long time.
Thanks for reading.

Why would you want to talk on the phone with a person? Waiting on hold for 45 minutes and then finding out you can’t understand them. Email is fantastic in that you fire off your message real quick and you come back to a reply when its convenient for everyone.
Being ignored is different from their limited size team not getting to your ticket in an infinitely growing pile yet. They didn’t purposely find yours and put it in the garbage.
Well it’s an MMO, it’s supposed to go on forever. But I am not sure about that. First of all because I know of no MMO that is truly fun and meaningful after reaching it’s end game.
stopped reading right there
first of all, if you label your product with a specific term to generate more sales, you better deliver on what that label implies
furthermore, just because YOU find the endgame in the typical mmos not fun doesn’t mean someone else can’t like it. there are plenty of people still playing wow – and even daoc is still running. repeating stuff that people spout after they fell for the hype and have buyers remorse and/or simply didn’t like the game don’t help your argument.
as for the nostalgia, that could fill a whole thread alone. let’s just say the fact that there IS nostalgia related to these games says something. for the rest it’s probably suffice to say “you should have been there”.
Nobody decides what a MMO is or what it needs to have. Guild Wars itself was a game that tried to transcend the barriers. Lots of peoples who are “Sandbox 4life” don’t even see games like WoW as real MMOs. Many of these of players think fullheartedly, that raids and instanced end game content is complete contradictory to what UO M59 and MUDs of all tried to do.
The thing is – Nobody is entitled to say what a MMO has to be. Or that a game which tries to break new bold or create new foundations have to deliver on the same things like other games have.
It’s no secret that Guild Wars 2 was never meant to satisfy people who wanted the WoW replacements. They said they would expand on Guild Wars. They would offer MMO features like auction housing, persistent large scale pvp, repeatable-long-term-enganged dungeons and lots of events that would run at random times throughout the world, while still retaining quite a lot of the philosophies that made Guild Wars 1 great. We knewe this back in 2007, from the initial PR slash. Thing is that a lot of people and websites have taken this information and tweaked it to sound like the game would deliver something else.
You are right about plenty of people still playing WoW. You got lots of options if you want that. LOTRO, TERA, SWTOR, Aion. Conan. You got lots of great games that you can play for free that are like that.
You don’t have a whole lot of games that play like GW2. You got some that still has public quests, but none that does them as well as GW2 (in my opinion at least!). I ask you, why should GW2 offer what all those gamers offer? Why can’t GW2 not just have its own feature set?
I think its fine that people want WoW, and raids. It’s not for me anymore. Thats why I play wow until expansion caps, and then stop playing. I grow bored of battlegrounds, arenas, dungeons and raids. its not just the emphasis on carrot-on-a-stick-uber-items, but also just the outdated combat systems.
GW2 is different and a fresh breathe of air. it has no monthly fee, of course the expectations and target audience is different. GW2 is a different kind of MMO. It doesnt need to offer the same end game as others. And honestly, is WoWs end game so much better? I know tons of people who play it, who complain and dislike it all the time. At the end of the day, I think most people linger on in these games because of their friends. Sign me personally up as one of those that prefer this end game, compared to traditional themeparkistic MMOs. I like this direction.
This is exactly why people are upset, the game has turned from being different into yet another WoW clone sans the raids. The gear treadmill is absolutely horrendous and has to go. The only reason for it to even be there is to get people to spend real money on gems.
What gear treadmill? Thats specifically what this game doesnt have. All the good gear you get is equal to everyone elses if your on the same level as them. I haven’t spent a dime and im doing fine, and its only a few weeks after release. Do you really want to kill the content there is off just so you can be 80 and thats gg?
I’ve played 280 hours over 12+ hours some days since pre-release, I don’t understand how people could have done everything already. I have an 80 mesmer, 400 tailor and I only have completed 57% of the world content. Best MMO I’ve played so far.

I don’t think it was online, it just eventually spread to a device that was attached to the system. It’s could be on your computer right now, but it’s harmless as its only goal was to find that reactor. Link for more since it’s off topic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuxnet
Also, Anonymous didn’t hack Sony, just some random guys hiding under its name did
You sure its not some random friend from school or something thats just being an idiot and not telling you their name? There’s no way to scam you just by joining your party, if you care to really find out who it is just play along if not leave em blocked.
Apparently you don’t care but you are truly a moron if you disregard the advice people are giving you to clean your computer. Just wait til someone steals your bank account information.
ANet has not been hacked. Your computer is most likely compromised. Reformat.

Did what I could, your post isn’t exactly written clearly.
What if I didn’t have access to my old email and needed to change my email? There are few systems out there that actually confirm with your old email. You have to keep your credentials safe, that is your responsibility. Did you reformat with a legal copy of windows or did you download it? It could have keyloggers built in if that is the case. Maybe the random generator you used wasn’t so safe either.
There’s just so many possibilities, hackers are smart. There was a virus that laid dormant in systems for many years until it found the nuclear reactor it was looking for and changed variables to ruin uranium enriching in the middle east. It’s not hard to figure out your password.

Yep and they know that my password was not qwerty then (it was smthing like cB’gO=KGfzH7kJQ`2=78U#@o)
But ofcourse they answered that this is not their fault, this is my fault. I’ve used to simple passw. Or passwd used somwhere else.
And of course this is not their fault when criminal can change email without any confirmation.

this was THE ONLY ONE email i’ve received from AN. So yep. Thx.
Your acc was stolen. Have Fun. Messege should look like this.
(email acc have sms confirmation so… and keyloggers etc is silly. I was building new system and so have clean OS install for rhat time with antivirus and etc.) If you think AN is not involved or this is not their fault. Than for example, it will be normal that someone changes sms report number for your CC and than stole all your money. And bank will do nothing. Enjoy…BTW I still have no answer for my tiket about message above. For first tiket respons wath within 5 minets. Refund has no answer too.
No its not ANets fault at all. You probably used this password on an old account on some other forum/website/game or on a compromised computer.(If you make passwords like that I highly highly doubt you make more than 1-2 of them that you have to remember at a time) And also, kudos for a password like that but check this out: http://i56.tinypic.com/2gweyd1.png
Youd be better off with a password like ‘mountainsapplesaucerocketcake’ that takes 550 years to crack than something hard to remember like your example that can be guessed in 3 days.
There are over 2 million players, give the support team some time to get through stuff. They aren’t ignoring your ticket on purpose.
0.o
mind = blown
But seriously, MMOs are about the endgame, and GW2 has zero endgame.
I think you missed the year or so of marketing the did before release on how they are completely changing the MMO experience with GW2. The whole world is beautiful to look at, so many DEs, heart quests, achievements/titles to earn, PvP is fantastic especially WvW. You’re just an idiot if you paid $70+ for this game and flew through it looking top-down at your character on the ground just so you could say you were quick to max level.
If you don’t care about looking good in the best armor, 100% the map, or killin noobs in WvW for your server, why the hell did you buy the game for in the first place. What other type of content do you want from such a game? Getting digital rewards is all they can give you, and they gave you a kitten ton of those to earn. Either do the content 100% or don’t complain that there isn’t enough because YOU can’t be bothered with half of what they gave you.
Race change would never happen as it would totally screw with the personal story. MAYBE cosmetic changes like hair and stuff but not full race changes. Just re-roll.
