Honestly, taunt on a mesmer is just giving me images of ahri-bursts in LoL. Taunt —> instakill.
You haven’t been playing for a loooong time :>
btt: yea this sounds fun, I bet the decoy gets a taunt on 2nd activation!
That would not match the mesmer
We’re supposed to confuse with our clones. With taunt on decoy we would just put a sign on our clone saying: THIS IS A NOT THE REAL ONE
Rofl, PvE.
Roflmao, Lol, omfgtf.
PvE: Acquire biggest stick on hardest hitting class. Continue to face tank while wailing on brainless mobs until they drop loot. If you happen to go down, continue to wail on mob until you rally. Spam F for loot. Profit.
Show me your Liadri pls.

I enjoy all three gamemodes. PvE WvW and PvP. There are some points that I’d like to see in PvE (maybe give the mobs some intelligence) but still this gamemode can be fun if you make it fun.
If the boss is too easy → Make him stronger! (e.g. fight while disabling the red circles that indicate AoEs in Arah, do not strip any boons of the HotW-p1-Boss…)

If we Mesmers/Chronomancers get access to slow I will definetly try to create a build with max slow duration =)
Necros are going to cry a lot about this. Spinning thieves as well. They are going to be Mesmer food even more now.
How will you know that?
Maybe Daggerstorm will grant 25 stacks of stability…
How can you say that they’re mesmer food without knowing how many stacks are going to be applied?
Also I could imagine stability to become aviable much more frequently after the rework! I guess you all saw the Revenant applying 5 Stacks with his Jalis Ironhammer skill 9 on AoE; with his dodge he also gained one stack.
I really think that the new Stability is going to have a similar amout of uptime but less duration and more frequent apply.
Now that we saw the stream about the revenant and know it’s skills I’d say YES he IS the better mesmer.
This Post contains screenshots of all the skills which have been shown on the stream.
The revenant is the “Fast Casting” character in the game. Elite Toggels without a cooldown, strong cc skills on low or even without recharge recharge, weapon skills having 3-15s cooldown, boon removal without cooldown, passive boonremoval if traited(any skill 15s icd), has CC on both weapon sets we know so far, has more combo finishers and better combo fields.
If they were to rework the other classes then I’d suggest them to give the classes some kind of ressource mechanic too.
This will be a really great buff to interrupt mesmers! Mind that you’re not alone. Allies in PvP/WvW have CC too which often is less important because they don’t have traits that trigger on interrupt so if there are one or two stacks of stability on an enemy it is more likely to get removed because of your allies’ CC! This keeps us from overusing our boon removals just for a single target.
Still I can imagine that Stability will be aviable mutch more often after this rework.
I don’t know why some people here would rather take a daze instead of a taunt.
IMO the CC ranking goes like this:
Pull/Push/Knockdown/Stun/…>Taunt>Daze
The thing about taunt is that it FORCES movement. You won’t be able to do anything as to walk towards your target (inversed fear) which means that you also won’t be able to dodge if taunted. I say that this effect is far better that daze because you an controll where your enemy is moving to. With a mere daze he’s just unable to use skills but still has free decision od movement (which inlcudes dodges).Taunt is better than daze (i don’t care how many daze related skills we have).
Taunt also forces them to use their auto attack.
Mesmers have confusion. Forcing them to autoattaak is just another reason why we benefit more from this than from dazes.
I’m not a fan of the iMage idea for two reasons:
- Uptime in 1vs1 scenarios would be too high.
- Traited Torch already cleanses conditions. So why even more anti-condi?
Wait… third reason. Condi PU builds.

I’ve read about the new mechanics they want to add to the game and thought where they could be added to the mesmer:
An attack “that starts at your character and extends forward over time”. They can make AoE fields alter their size.
“This skill creates a directional wall in front of your character […] it follows your character!” Yay moving skills!

New Boon “Resistance” (Immunity to Conditiondamage)
New Condition “Slow” (Slow down cast time by X%)
New Status Effect “Taunt” (disables skills 2-0 and forces movement towards the enemy)

I hope that the new Profession/Specializations are not the only ones to get the new mechanics they’re so proud of. It would be unfair to have new mechanics bound to the new stuff only.
Wait, where did that quote come from? I must have missed it.
Popped out of nowhere. If you know what I mean
Illusionary Weaponry (2)
Trait Inspiration Grandmaster
Your Clones deal damage. Each Clone deals 33% of the damage you would deal.
I would like to see Fevered Dreams or Extend Conditions as an elite. XD
Yeah, that’d be soo great!
Elite Kurzick Armor for Female Characters
I don’t think they do but I wish they would. :P
Fevered Dreams
Elite Glamour
Protect yourself to redirect all incoming condition damage to foes in the target area.
(This skill does not protect you from incoming conditions. It only prevents the damage for a specific time.)
Fragility
Trait: Domination Master Trait
Deal a small amout of damage every time you apply torment or bleeding.
Frustration
Trait: Domination Minor Adept (replaces Illusion of Vulnerability)
Inflicts confusion every time you interrupt a foe.
Hex Eater Signet
Heal Signet
Passive:
Allows the Mesmer to have 4 Illusions
Active
Destroy all you Illusions to Heal yourself and nearby allies.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ignorance
Hex Spell. (8…18…20 seconds.) Target foe cannot use signets.
Change to: Interrupting an opponent puts their signets on cooldown.
My Idea:
Ignorance
Utility: Glamour
Places a field that prevents enemies from getting new boons and allies from new conditions.
Ether Lord
Utility: Manipulation
Loose all Energy to gain Distortion.
Symbolic Celerity
Trait: Inspiration (replaces Compounding Celerity)
Reduce cooldowns time for each signet you have equipped:

Bad Luck :P
/bump cuz there are new skills coming with HoT :P
I guess my improve to Time Warp would really fit the chronomancer
Just as a heads up, the wiki does (and always has) contained the proper information for the trait. I wasn’t aware that how it functioned was a matter of debate.
Thought so too but then I was told that someone tested it like one week ago and it would only clean one condition. Ofc OMFG did not believe me without proving it :o
In this video i proved that “Shattered Conditions” removes 1 condition per clone and not one condition per shatter.
I was told it would only cleanse one condition regardless how many illusions are shattered.

Don’t mind the voices pls I was too lazy to do anything else than to upload it. :P
Hey everyone, I’d like to present you my newest idea for creating builds (maybe weird builds).
The thread about these many skills unused made me think of a way to deal with that problem and pushing players twowards the skills they’d never use eventhough they might be really cool.
Below you will find a list of all the mesmer skills that I found matching for this idea (except underwater combat) with a number for each skill. I’d like you to roll on this page: https://www.random.org/integers/?num=2&min=1&max=42&col=5&base=10&format=html&rnd=new (for some reason you need to copypaste the link) to decide which skills you get.
The goal is to create a build using the two skills you rolled. These skills should not just be part of the build but the skill you build that spec around! It should also cover all sides of the skill (eg. Signet of Illusions would need to be used AND to have the passive bonus or Temporal Curtain could be used for reflection and interrupts)
As an example:
I rolled 4 and 27. Mirror Blade and Mantra of Pain. I came up with a long range mesmer build that focuses on using GS/Staff and tries to spam the mantra out of the enemy.
Build Link
Please note that there are no restrictions for which gamemode the build is
I’d love to see your results and some really crazy builds.
Even you, colesy, wherever you are.
who is that? :o
If noone minds I’ll be updating the skills and perks to current patchnotes and will have a look at the PvE section (has to wait until tomorrow afternoon thoug)
I’d also might need someone to read over it correcting my english :P
ADD:
Chaos I guess you should also add a whole new section for the Chronomancer (maybe not yet). I’ll be loving to help there too!

Let me post my list how Pyro did:

meh, forums aren’t as active anymore.
all forums or just ours? (I’m only here so I don’t really know about the others)
All of them. Fewer people playing with not as much to talk about.
Most professions/matchups are pretty thoroughly explored at this point. Even Chaos, the man of a million surveys/guides/explanations/talking points, is struggling for content these days.
They’ve been consolidating a lot of the sub-forums because of it. Things will pick up again when the HoT is released.
Ironically, I have at least 3 different articles I wanted to write and no more time at work to write them. When I get home I get swallowed by Smash Brothers or the X1. =[
Need a helping hand? =)

My driver likes my mesmer a lot for stealths, but of late he’s had me swap to warrior (ick). […] I still prefer to play mes. He misses the invis sometimes.
Haven’t played organized WvW yet since I’m back… looks like we’re still Veilbots?
Btw. ppl seem to be under the impression I lost to this guy. I did not. We had several fights and I just ended the fights, when I wanted to and ultimately gave up on trying to get him.
So..? Why did you fight him several times anyways? You describe it as if it was no fun at all so I don’t get why you engaged him more than once. Did you see a challenge in this guy or did you just rage to kill him? What was your reason for fighting more often. Obviously you now complain about his playstyle over and over. I don’t get what you wanna hear… Some people already agreed that this playstyle is bull****. Some said it is ok since it’s “war” you may use everything.
Is this thread meant to be a discussion or is it meant to find ppl who support you in your opinion?
Mimic.
And really I don’t understand why they changed a not very good skill in a useless one: also I loved animation and sound of it. I really want the old mimic back.Old & new mimic is never use by anybody. Come on, your telling me if they brought back the old mimic you would use it? plzzzz. They change it bcuz nobody use it. No! i petition for a new new mimic. Lets call it the Real Mimic! Where it summons a Phantasm of your target & mimics every abilities & keystrokes of that target to himself. Now were talking OP.
Mimics every keystroke:
Target turns around and walks away → Phantasm turns around and walks away
meh, forums aren’t as active anymore.
all forums or just ours? (I’m only here so I don’t really know about the others)
Question might be obvious.
Before my break with gw2 I was already quite active on this forum too and I could sit there and refresh the forum every minute and there always was a new reply in at least one of the threats. Now I just looked in here and the newest post was 1 hour ago!
Did they all quit? Or did they quit being mesmer? Are they just not active on the forum?
I’m kinda sad right now.
I fail every time I try to use Illusion of Life .. All 4 times in over two years.
50% Failure rate with moa.
Never use: iMage, Signet of Midnight, Veil, Signet of the Ether
I love using Illusion of Life!
Example: Before fighting Lupicus with a whole guild group we all disable the aoe indicators and try to do him on range. When someone goes down I’m the guy who finishes them off by “resurecting” them with Illusion of Life! All that happens is that they stand up with less HP and instantly get hit by another aoe and die =P
I could add it to my list if it’d be called “Skills that I never seriously use”
Skills I never use:
Weapons: none
Heal: none
Utility: Mimic, SoMidnight, SoIllusions, Phantasmal Defender
Elite: Moa Morph
I love the idea of the shield! There are so many skills I could imagine for the shield.
Most likely to PvE Fractals/Dungeons I’d suggest you to play:
The traits to choose in domination:
The dueling traits are:
The Inspiration traits are:
Illusions:
These are all Phantasm specs played with Sword+Fokus&Sword+Sword and in some situations (eg. Lupicus) you take a pistol for the offhand sword.

If it kills the other party while minimizing risk to myself, what’s bad about it?
I call it “smart”, you call it not fighting. There’s some high level social commentary in there, I suppose.
Reminds me of the asura :P They let golems fight their battles.
@Me Games Ma.8426:
My complaint is not against the PU build. I fought plenty PU mesmers (won and lost), who actually fought and didn’t circle you at max possible range. My complaint was against his way of using the build…my definition of honor may be weird^^ But that’s why I explained it :P
Yes, you complained against his playstyle. I say: “Don’t fight him if you dislike his style.”
I’d like to add that sword AA is the only real cleave we have.
Firstly GW2 is a game. Main thing is fun and entertainment imho.
Absolutely correct! That’s my opinion too.
When I talk about honorable p lay style,I am talking about skill, tactics and reaction based play style. Where split second decisions matter, where you have to make risk/reward decisions and that actually challenges a player to improve himself.
Your definition of Honor is kinda weird. It’s like I said before, there is no honorable or honorless playstlye in a game there are fun styles and styles that are less fun to play against but that is not what honor is!
PU definetly is one of the strongest builds for 1onX | X>1 situations and maybe some would call PU-players “try-harder” or something but still it is their playstyle and if you think that playstyle is no fun to play against just don’t fight them. PU is not a build that bursts you down in a single second. (also PU is a mesmer build… you can just walk away [We’re too slow qq!])
~ Me Games Ma
There is no honorable fighting or honorless fighting.
Every player finds a playstyle that matches best with their skill and/or their character(RL). There definetly are playstyles that are easier to play or less risky for the same profit
The thing is that some builds are more fun to play against and builds that are no fun to play against but that’s always a personal opinion. I personally really hate playing PU but think it is challenging to play against it. It’s simple why I hate playing it. It’s like a passive play. You press a few buttons and wait until your enemy is down. If I should suggest your GF a playstyle or a build I would tell her to keep distance from PU builds for two good reasons:
I’d suggest a shatterspec! Vashury, a real skilled mesmer here on the forums, told me how to become good as a shatter mesmer: Try to find 2 or more enemies. Engage them so they try to kill you. Do not attack back, just try to survive as long as possible! If you know how to survive then you don’t need anything else.
Of course that’s not what they are really giving us as skills. It’s just what I imagine they could give us.
Possible phantasms to think of:
Possible non phantasms to think of:

If anyone has other ideas pls post them. I’d like to add them to the list.
Thank you!

You want it? You get it!
This is my beloved Mindblossom. Today she turned from violet to green and got that awesome butterfly on her shoulder!
warrior’s warhorn is what you need.
I tought of a field that applies these both… maybe the size of nullfield and a duration of 2-3s per tick i think it could really hurt players in pvp when fighting a point.
Imagine a field where while standing in it, your skills dont recharge, or recharge certain % slower.
I’d actually like a field that makes your skills recharge faster (and your allies’).
This is how timewarp should work …
Yes T_T
I could also imagine a skill that slows or stops enemy endurance regeneration (weakness?) and grants vigor to allies.
(edited by Me Games Ma.8426)
I’d also really like the Idea of shattering aoe fields…
Perhaps they are long duration aoes that have the strongest shatter effect either the longer they last or the faster you shatter them after placing

“On your traits page, wich sounds like it’s gonna have heavy revamping for the release of Hears of Thorns, you will gain acces to at least it sounds like one new unique traitline perhaps more…”
He said that his information was posted by devs on the forum
(edited by Me Games Ma.8426)
My theory:
They said that there will be a new trait line. That gives two options:
the second option is more likely because if they replace the class mechanic (eg. shatters) we would have no point in traiting into shatter cooldown (Illusions) which makes me think that they will replace this one.
then we get the 4 usual lines: Domination, Dueling, Chaos, Inspiration and the 5th (let’s just call it) Chronomancing.
we’d also get a new class mechanic so I think that if we are a Chronomancer we won’t be able to shatter anyways.
why do I think that we’d not just get a few skills/traits in addition? simple: they said that we’d be able to swap between core and spec! Why would they implement this if the spec would be just an addition to our class?
I really think that they will be taking the Illusions traitline and maybe even clones/phantasms to give us a whole different feeling of our class.
I DON’T think that they’ll take a weapon from any of the classes.
List of pros and cons for removing clones and/or phantasms.
Cons:
Pros:
that are the pros and cons i just came up with in a few minutes.
i think that we might lose shatters but that we won’t lose illusions… but i hope we would^^
I’d actually like the idea of removing phantasms for the specialisation.
We wouldn’t have to rely on them in PvE…
although we got some of the most dps IF all phants are up… this is hardly possible to maintain since almost all bosses use a lot of aoe or cleave
removing them would maybe give us a little base dmg bonus and what i hope most is better utility for the skills that would replace these… short living dps minions
