Equinox [EqnX]
Riverside[DE]
I don’t feel like this trait would fit in Illusions because we already have 1 extremly good grandmaster(iPersona), one build based grandmaster(diversion hits 5) and one grandmaster thats idea is great but needs a buff to be viable(maim).
Also it’d be always a better trait than disruptors sustainment. As neptune said:
Disrupters Sustainment is a joke
I’d rather have a not fitting but good trait than a fitting bad one.
Give Mesmer a few buffs/bug fixes for this and we have a deal. As people have said already mes is already weak and nerfing this without any buffs would be punching someone already on the ground (like the ileap change and many others nerfs before it).
Mesmers aren’t weak, and they are still very viable in pvp and solo/group roaming. They just need a lot of fixes to the elements that are broken. They don’t need buffs but they certainly need fixes to bring them up to speed again.
Mesmers are weak. OR they are weaker as intended. Why? Due to bugs. If the bugs are not fixed mesmers need buffs.
And in PvE Mesmers NEED buffs
Haha I remember a build I used with echoing Blackout. I had 1s delay between my lockdown and the enemys lockdown. In that time I used both “wastrel’s skills” and refreshed blackout.
Monks hated me :>
Their team hated me :>
I was first target :<
My monk survived :>
WoW. I just imagined this: A duel of two very good interrupt mesmers using CI…
2 guys doing a stare contest because they’re perma immob and can’t get one skill done. :>
Eh, 2 very good mesmers both using CI would rarely get interrupts, because a very good player knows how to protect their important/interruptable casts.
You just destroyed my dreams. In my head mez always has as many rupts as in GW1 :/
(8 interrupts on 8 skillslots :P)

Renew the Grandmastertrait:
This trait is now called Explosive Shatters.
Mesmers, discuss!
Bountiful Disillusionment
Gain boons each time a shatter skill is used.
Mind Wrack: Retaliation: 3 s
Cry of Frustration: 3xMight: 15 s
Diversion: Fury: 5 s
Distortion: Regeneration: 8 s
Why is this trait bad?
My suggestion would be to make this trait a “ondeath” effect for clones and phantasms. (like confusing combatants)
If an illusion is destroyed the mesmer(always) and all allies in a 180 range around the illusion are buffed (can hit the mesmer twice!)
Always:
RNG
This is meant to make the mesmer able to play more aggressive and give more options for passive group support even if all our illusions die all the time.
Mesmers, discuss!

Back on front page for whatever good that may do
:)
I’d love it if it was like this:
Radius of the cast increased to 240/360.
This skill now creates impacts under 5 foes in the target area.
Radius of impacts: 180
Impact Targets: 3
Boon Removed: 1
Damage: The same like now.
I guess Warlord of Chaos is playing from NA?
If you can join EU, I’ll try. I play a CI Build as well. Just need to download the game since I just reinstalled windows… :>
I miss those days x. x. I wonder when Anet will give glamour some love again?
When they maybe give the Mesmer love again. :<
Do you remember this? =D
Will you continue to post here when you’re gone? :<
Dueling IX – and you’ll hear that awesome sound every 20s :P
Make it like iWarlock but deal more damage for each confusion stack on foe instead of each condition. Make it +4% or 5% dmg for each stack of confusion and increase the base damage to match iWarlock. Done.
Why? Why do you want a second illusion that does the same as one we already have?
I’d suggest that they change it to the way they wanted it to be like before the release: Make a power-based phant that attacks everytime the enemy uses a skill.
With pyros idea we’d be able to weave a web of disruption again!
Aww I still love gw1 <3
All of these GW1 mesmer skill links really make me wish I played that game.
Off topic, but does anyone still play it? Would buying it be worth it?
Sure most of the players left this game when gw2 was released and the ones that are still playing should all be experienced and skilled players right now. It definetly IS an awesome game. The story, the fightsystem (especially the mesmer is great with its thousand of hexes interrupts and combos) and the map/leveldesign is well done. The problem is that if you’re used to GW2 you’ll be having problems with GW1. No dodging, tanks, healers, dds, no jumping. Always when I try to play gw1 now I have to close it pretty soon. It’s just not as good as GW2 eventhough the mesmer is 100 times stronger than he is here.
They’re saving up the bugs for the balance patch so they don’t need to buff us but only fix a few things. They will say “Mesmers are stronk enough now that we fixed all the bugs”. (they’ll never fix all the bugs)
Really they should buff our interrupting capabilities over anything, that is the best way to get anything of GW1 mesmer back. And only the biggest morons would QQ about interrupt based skills because interrupts are the least face roll thing in the game, I’d say impossible to “spam.”
And they’re extremly easy to counter… :<
The “:<” above is a link :P

Bring back Panic and Clumsiness too.
Some more old friends:
Panic
Trait: Domination Grandmaster (replaces Confounding Suggestions)
Grants a chance to spread control effects on 4 more targets in a 360 range around the original target.
- Daze – 1s
- Stun – 1s
- Knockdown – 1s
- Knockback – 1s
- Launch – 1s
- Float – 1s
- Sink – 1s
- Internal Cooldown: 10s
- Chance to trigger: 25%
Ineptitude
Skill (Hex — “new” skill category)
Hex your foe with Ineptitude for 4s. The next hit he lands will inflict blind, weakness, torment and bleed to 5 foes near him.
Casttime: 3/4s
Cooldown: 45 seconds (lol “4—5—s” is censored)
- Ineptitude(4s)
- Blind (10s)
- Weakness(s)
- 2x Torment(5s)
- 3x Bleed(5s)
- Range: 1200
- Radius: 240
Clumsiness
Skill (Hex — “new” skill category)
Hex your foe with clumsiness for 4s. The next successful attack the hexed foe lands will damage 5 foes near him.
Casttime: 3/4s
Cooldown: 45 seconds
- Clumsiness(4s)
- Damage(as much as iSwordman does)
- Range: 1200
Already suggested that ~ 5 months ago :P
Replacing furious interruption:
Disruptors Alacrity
On interrupt, decrease the cooldown of the interrupting skill by 10(15?) seconds. This has no internal cooldown and can proc multiple times for aoe skills.
Alternatively:
On interrupt, decrease all cooldowns by 5 seconds. No internal cooldown.
What either of these traits would do is allow a skilled interrupt Mesmer to actually capitalize on interrupts by either applying higher pressure through overall skill usage, or by gaining the ability to churn out more interrupts rapidly. Particularly, these would allow interrupt mesmers to have a real role in group fights of any scale, as the aoe potential of things such as iWave and Chaos Storm could produce instant recharges in big fights, allowing for significant boost in strength.
Hah Hah Haaaa the alternative would be great for PvE as well! Time Warp cooldown reduction!
GG!
We already have the most interrupts of any profession, I think. Every possible weapon set gives us access to some sort of interrupt and then for utilities we have Mantra of Distraction and Signet of Domination. So, really, I don’t know if “more” is the answer.
I don’t disagree though that mesmers need something to cement us as the real kings of interruption. Currently the gameplay in GW2 makes interrupting an overly difficult task.
My suggestion (and I know there is exactly a 0% chance this will happen) is to give mesmers some sort of guaranteed interrupt. Here’s my idea:
Illusion of Accuracy
Manipulation utility. 1/4th second cast. 40s cooldown. 600 unit range.
Places an effect on the target with a duration of 5s. During this time the next interruptable skill used by the target is immediately interrupted. Once one skill is interrupting the Illusion of Accuracy effect is removed (no more than one interrupt per Illusion of Accuracy cast).Something like this opens up really smart counterplay. The opponent, if they have good awareness, will spot the skill and burn a non-essential skill, knowing they can spare the interrupt for now but risking setting up Chaotic Interruption, Bountiful Interruption, etc.
What do you guys thing? Too OP?
Please name it Mistrust I’d love it!
I’d just like to know how the community feels about the number of interrupts we have.
I’d really like to have 3s stun from SoDomination lowered to 0.5 or 1s but reduce the cooldown to like 10-15s so we have more real interrupts but the option to create a permastun.
Also how would you guys like a weapon designed to rupt people? Like a Mace/Shield or a Hammer with skills that trigger their main effect if you interrupt with them.

Mesmers have been forced into a support role by ANet’s nerfs. We have been forced to bend over backwards to find a spec that can actually survive + kill, and when we do, someone cries OP, and we get nerfed. Then, it’s back to square one again. Being forced into one particular play style (support) is absolutely counter to the principle ANet built GW2 on. It’s the same principle that was used to throw out the trinity class system, and yet ANet sees no problem with forcing the mesmer into a singular role. Baffling how the Devs don’t see that. Maybe looking at actual play (re: playing one) rather than a spreadsheet might help? I dunno.
It’s to the point that they might as well give Veil to Thieves, give Portal to Eles, and just scrap the profession all together. I’m sorry to be so heavily negative about it, but it’s true. Maybe get their stuff together, figure out what the heck they’re doing, and rerelease the class later.
Waiting to see how the Mesmer Skillbar goes. I’m highly skeptical/cynical about it doing any good though.
100% agreement… :<
Now I finally understood the whole world.
We’re not getting buffs because someone at Anet is having trouble typing. He always wants to tell his mates “We can only save the mesmers by buffing them.” sadly the only things sadly he misses the [F] and types [G] instead so we result in: “We can only save the mesmers by bugging them.”
Great. I wish I’d have ppl to play with <3
PvP
We Mesmers definetly are able to stack confusion quite high. The problem is that these stacks won’t last long enough to kill people (that’s because of -50% dmg nerf) it WAS possible for mesmers to oneshot people with confusion dealing almost 5k damage per hit.
If anet wants to make a confusion mesmer viable we should get a buff in damage OR duration. Both would be good good too but maybe over powered.
PvE
Not worth taking! I totally agree to what Fey said. This condition needs a complete rework. But… did you see any condition class being more viable for PvE than a zerker? o.O Why trying to buff something that won’t be worth taking anyways?
much pet, very stealth, such op, wow

What I hope for the Mesmers Skillbar
This thread is not what I hope for, and I hope ANet understands this is a single person’s opinion and not the one of the community.
To me, the list looks more like a mess of changes based on what you have troubles countering, and not cross-profession balancing changes. “Fixing” a stunbreak on an already unviable weapon? Removing PU condi spam? It’s definitely the hate of newbies, but no one’s taking it seriously in tPvP.
What I as a person who have mained a mesmer (until recently) need in reworked mesmers:
- AoE damage options for equal loot ba88in8, preferably as utilities.
- Non-stealth mobility solutions to counter unstoppable runners and to break out of Traveler runes, like a speed signet, a no-illusion speed trait, leaps.
- Personal damage build options which do not rely heavily on clones or phantasms which can often be a liability (like a ranger’s pet). Proper sigil/rune effects transfer to illusions which are a significant part of our damage.
- Non-utility, damage-type utility skill(s). Rework of rarely used weapon skills. Blast finisher.
- Real fixing of 40+ bugs and rework of many QoL annoyances. As a supplement, not as a replacement for balancing.
Hey. As mentiond earlier I did not only suggest what I hope for but also what is realistic for Arena Net to do. I know them many years now.
I wouldn’t consider me as a newbie. I am a mesmer main since the 25th of August 2012 and I really want this profession to be buffed. The “nerfs” I want them to do are logical if you consider what they just did in the last few balance patches. And “fixes”.
Let me explain why I want the changes:
Sword: They took away the thieves stunbreak. It’s not fair if we keep ours. Same issue as with perma vigor. Was nerfed on other professions -> was nerfed for us.
Clonedeath traits: My change wouldn’t really nerf the mesmer but make him rely on something called skill. The mesmer would need to know the placement of his clones. Also this would make the sword a good choice for clonedeath builds because the swordclones go meele and get killed.
PU: I just dislike that trait and I thought that a few other options to spawn clones would be great. So I decided to change this one.
For your suggestions I just go right through them:
(edited by Me Games Ma.8426)
Mesmer – Taken back to the drawing board. Complete class code and mechanics overhaul and redo.
This is what I’d like to see too but I think Anet won’t overhaul any class. So I’m trying to be realistic here.
I see what you did there.
Nerfing PU setups. But what about clone death builds, that have been nerfed to uselessness already, you just kill them off.
We need some clear buffing in regards of PvE, which you totally neglect. Shatter would need some serious fixing to be competative in this game mode.
Right now, build diversity in PvE is Phantasm with mantras, or Phantasm without mantras. That is not enough.I hope, the devs look further than PvP, because this game has more to offer than being a failed eSport.
Well in some cases it’s rather what I expect than what i want it to be :o
To be honest I don’t know how to buff mesmer in PvE without changing the whole class o.o … phantasms are not really good in pve since they get killed over and over again.
Why nerfing clone death? To buff them afterwards. I’d like to have them more skillbased but more powerful.

Why is everyone so bent on having forced targets in an action combat system ?
ask a mesmer.
Found another one!
If you equip Far Reaching Manipulations you are able to equip blink underwater.
As a mesmer main I think that Anet should be fair and add a tiny damage to phantasm spawns just like they do with “Choking Gas”.
This is just to kick us mesmers out of stealth when spawning a phantasm. It’d be fair i guess.
~ Me Games Ma
I can tell you how op it would be: Clones.
But I’d like it to be this way.
even if it was only 3s of confusion you could finally use your scepterclones for something else than just shattering/dying. \o/
Our symbol is a butterfly. You didn’t expect bugs?
(Yes. That’s the best, most logical and informative answer I can give you. x.x )
Woha. Even you seem extremly frustrated about the last few month. It feels bad seeing you post like this. :< We gotta hold out until they can’t bring any more nerfs/bugs.
I have a dream that the day will come where mesmers are buffed again!
I never told you that the skill wasn’t buggy as f***. I just showed you one of the many things why I would NEVER change it into a projectile.
The actual skill was dodged in the video. The swap wasn’t. I was able to get 1 of the enemys dodges for nothing! That’s what I want to keep. With the skill working as projectile you wouldn’t be able to get a dodge AND the immob but only the dodge OR the immob!
Sure that wouldn’t work on e.g. stairs or a roof of a building. But that’s the thing anet has to fix. Just keep the mechanics but actually FIX it. It is ridiculous that we have to come up with suggestions like you did just to make them finally fix our skills.
I’m against your suggestion because it’d take away the many ways we can use that extremly great skill. We need an idea that would let us keep the skills design but also fix it.
~ Me Games Ma PRO FIX BUT AGAINST CHANGE!
This is exactly what happens in a GS shatter setup right now and for a lone time; it has been, it is and would be fine.
I’ll just add a link to a video where I show you that why I don’t want it to be a projectile!
(Just need to upload it Here it is^_^) :P
(edited by Me Games Ma.8426)
Because I loved the Mesmer from Guild Wars 1 and still hope that we can be the interrupter again, even if I have to wait another two years.
Regarding Swap – I’d prefer for the stunbreak to be removed (yes, a nerf), but in exchange restore the ability to swap to where the clone last is, even if it has died.
…blablabla… // snipped
I guess the next balance patch will fix our iWarden to not block unblockable projectiles and Swap being a stunbreaker.
From the Mesmerforums :P
They fixed iLeap to match the description? Well here’s the description of Pistol Whip
What else does it? Ahh I know! You evade while attacking. pls “fix” it anet. The skill doesn’t match its description.
By the time you find the right one, you’re downed.
The deception is just too strong in this game. Mesmer was the easiest class I played in PvP, simply because you can do what you want to, most opponents will just be distracted with your clones, spending the she fight trying to target the real you.Mesmers are a disease in PvP
A short guide just to explain how we mesmers can use clones to distract our enemys:
- don’t use food, sigils, signets (except SoIllusions), mantras, wvw-guard-stacks,…)
- use AA only
- never dodge
- only move with [W]
- only move to stay in range
- stand still for using your AA
- keep attacking when you stealthed with massinvis (just like clones do)
- disable AA and use it as slow as clones do
- pray…
That’s what we have to do so that we get our enemy distracted by clones…
YAY
I’ve posted this a few month ago in the mesmer forum.
The closer it gets the more worried I’m getting about mesmer showing up on ReadyUp.
I really look forwart to it. What bad can happen? Another nerf? Well we’ve suffered to so many nerfs in the last 2 years that we should be used to it by now (well at least i am).
If they bugfix us then they can make some “nerfs” and some “buffs” but i don’t really think they want us to be buffed.
There are some skills/traits that I think will never be fixed: iLeap/tCurtain/iElasticity
I guess the next balance patch will fix our iWarden to not block unblockable projectiles and Swap being a stunbreaker.
eeehhhm…
Illusionary Headshot?
spammable 1/4s daze! that’s what mesmers need!
Just imagine how awesome interrupt build would work with this one o.O
Hey guys,
I just returned to gw2 and played a bit with my traits so I got a weird 5-4-0-5-0-Build
that I used for PvE open World content and the new living story.
I thought it’d be fun to play with stuff like that in WvW so i just changed 2 traits, one utility and one weaponset and tadaaaa!
I don’t really understand why this random stuff works so well but I had no problems at all with almost any other profession while roaming in WvW.
Any thoughts?
~ Me Games Ma
Interesting idea, but a ton of work.
I’m sure that it is. The Idea behind this is that we could have a ton of skill diversity with this change without adding new skills that maybe could be useless.
Also the balancing wouldn’t be too hard because we can compare them to the already existing elite skills (like i did with “For Great Justice!” and Signet of Rage
The most work would be to find out what cooldowns would be matching the “new elites”.
Most of the skills are easily to power up. You can:
^
Well I don’t think they’d increase the Damage of Mindwrack or Halting Strike.
I rather think they’d change the damage of:
Delete: Mesmer
Add: Mesmer
Why? Because the Mesmer as a Class should be based on control, hexes and interruption. It’s a profession that knows a reaction against everything. Not all in one build . that should be sure ^.^
Bring back the old gw1 mesmer and i’m happy =)
I’d rather ask for a rework^^
also saved =) =) =)
