Phase Rift: Create a line on the ground that teleports allies 900 units in their current direction and knocks down enemies that try to cross it. 90s CD

Spatial Refuge: Create a field around you that follows you and teleports away enemies as they try to enter. (45s) CD
Wastrel’s Worry: Create a field on the ground that deals damage to your enemies. The damage get’s stronger the longer they stay inside. 30s CD
Shield Skills:
4.1 Phantasmal Avenger: Summon a phantasm that stores all damage you take and sends it out to your target. 20s CD
4.2 Phantasmal Avenger: Block an attack. Summon a Phantasm that will cast the attack that you blocked.
5. Vortex + Implosion: Pull all enemies towards a target location. + Push them away from the location. 30s CD
Heal Skill:
Revert Time
Heal for a good amout and all the damage you took in the last 3 seconds (condition damage and normal damage) 25s CD.

This whole thing is not about how skillful you are, how good at remembering positions of portals or anything. This thread is a request for a QoL update which makes us equal with other classes.
Warrior Banners have circles on the ground to indicate their range of buff.
Why shouldn’t a portal have a better range indicator?

For me it’d be enough if we would get this nice tiny red bar located under each skill for our portal too.
When we stay in range we get no red bar and as soon as we leave the portal range the red bar will appear to indicate: “stop right there criminal scum…” wait wrong game. “stop, you’re out of the 5k range”
Let’s just hope they do well with the specialization design.
No, there wasn’t any statement, and since when has Anet made a point out of being fair, reasonable, or intelligent with balance decisions?
I only said what I’m hoping for not what I think Anet will do.
I think we will only get a shield.
IF we happen to get 2 weapons (main and off), we get flamed extremly hard for getting better options → Anet will revert the changes and we will end up being able only to equip both of the new weapons together or not at all…
What I’m also hoping for is Equality for the specializations:

It does not seem fair when ranger gets a staff, necro a gs and engineer a hammer which is two handed and giving 5 new skills and we mesmers end up with a shield giving us 2 skills (one possibly being a phantasm).
we get nerfs like every patch xD i still believe that HoT will be our savior…but i smell that Anet will be like: you get your shield, and you’ll like it kitten!

Shields are always more defensive weapons… We already have 2 good defensive offhand weapons, fokus and torch. I’d really like the shield to be offensive (like gs being a range weapon) and concentrate on AoE. A vortex like skill would be nice to gather enemies to a specific spot.
Effects that trigger on control abilities or interrupts are treated in the same way as they are with the current Defiance system when the boss has one or more stacks of defiance. I believe they don’t trigger, though I’d have to go test it out to be sure.
All on interrupt effects trigger when you interrupt a boss monster that has defiant stacks on it. It just won’t interrupt the mob.
Halting strike triggers the damage, Chaotic Interruption will inflict the conditions and Bountiful Interruption will buff the mesmer. The only thing that does not happen is the interrupt.

Btw: That also was the cause of Power Block being able to interrupt bosses eventhough they had defiant stacks. The cooldown was applied to the skill before it was finished and when the skill “tried” to cause it’s effect it couldn’t work because the skill was already on cooldown.

Back in GW1 Power Block was able to disable the whole skill bar for 12 seconds on 20 seconds cooldown.
The problem with Click Bait Titles is that people quickly start to hate you for them.

and Just to point out the problem with your Assumption.
The Wyvren dishes out Huge Swaths of AoE like its an AA, Phantasms and Clones won’t be standing to Shatter, and those that are will perish in the long standing Flame AoE.
This is not a Mesmer or Pet class friendly Foe, we will be at a huge disadvantage as is par for the course when it comes to the new content.

Redesign Power Block entirely to:
Power Block: profession skill(s) of the target are disabled for 5 seconds on any interrupt (10-15 second ICD)
Interrupt a Thief using heart seeker and they can’t use Steal for 5 seconds. Interrupt a Warrior using Shield Bash and no Eviscerate. The idea being that Power Block interferes with profession skill rotations regardless of the skill being used. This would be especially powerful against Elementalists to the point where you could actually bring an interrupt Mesmer along to screw up a D/D cele Ele.
Yay disable steal for 5 seconds -> Most thieves use steal as opener…
Yay disable Warriors adrenaline skills for 5s… -> you know that we don’t need a trait to do that right? (we just need to interrupt the right skills)
Yay disalbe element switch -> the flame is real and the trait gets nerfed again.
Yay disable shatters for 5s -> more AI based builds inc
Yay disable pet control -> nothing happens at all
Yay disable toolbelt skills -> actually not bad…
Yay disable deathshroud -> flame war inc (same as for ele)
Yay disable virtues -> nooone cares
This would make Power Block useful against 2 of 8 (soon 9) professions.

The thing with mind spike is that they nerfed the dmg by 20% but buffed it against targets without boons (which are almost impossible to find in PvP/WvW)

Arenanet never confirmed any builds becoming viable. You could have known that. But the fact that they say we need spike builds in certain situations could really make a shatter mesmer be a possibility in the Addon.

This. Stupid butterflies are one of the main reasons I fell in love with the kitten profession and have stuck it out so long. Might not do so much damage but we look good while doing it!

I really like it.
First, let me say that I love the idea of specializations emphasizing different aspects of their parent class. While I hope that the first specialization focuses on our temporal/spatial/manipulative elements, I do hope that one of the future ones emphasizes our phantasms and another emphasizes our clones. Yours feels like a great suggestion for the latter.
I super dig your version of Mimic- furthering the ability for clones to act just like you. I’d even suggest that as an Upkeep skill!
Your Cries and the dagger skill are cool too. I really like the idea of using clones as resources for more than just shattering. Adding on-demand effects around them or consuming them to maintain an effect is great!

The thing about having the chance to interact with clones in a way my mimic does could be pretty overpowered. I already figured out some combinations that could be insane. I did state that the clones using mimic only deal 1% of the damage the mesmer would deal but in my spec they’re supposed to still apply all the boons/conditions and other effects. This would make us able to create a grand field of instant boon ripping by chaining Mind Stab (GS 3) with a 3 clone mimic. Or have a hell of conditionapplication by chaining mimic with Confusing Images.
Noone wants to read all this? Noone want’s to reply?

Is this something that’s being looked at by ANet, or is it ‘working as intended’? Sure doesn’t sound like good game design to me.
They’ve said that they’re going to reworke the trait system once again.
The mesmer is not something anet cares for. To many of us active mesmer players it seems that anet in general or just one or two employees at anet have had some really nightmarish encounters with mesmers and now they can not stop the urge to nerf/break mesmers to the ground.
Still I’d say yes mesmer is fun and now is the best time to play one… when you play the weakest character in a game it’s more likely that you get buffed in the future.

Confusion on crit is not gonna make us happy: 3 steps to understand why:
Confusion on HIT would be a different story. It could actually get into the game as a master trait in our Illusions or Chaos line.

With this specialization I’d like to fokus on clones. The mechanic of this specialization only knows clones. The way to play it is to effectively use combinations of your skills to create, controll, and abuse your clones. Clone generation is one of the main aspects with this kind of mesmer.

Trait: Domination Grandmaster Minor (Replaces Wastrel’s Punishment)
Interrupted Skills will have a 10s cooldown.
- Additional on interrupt disable: 10s
I’ve played with the normal keybindings since release and never actually changed them.
My usual binding was
Weapons Skills: 1-5
Heal 6 (and a mousekey)
Utility: 7,8,9 (and a mousekey)
Elite: 0 (and a mousekey)
Class skills: F1,F2,F3,F4
Interact: F
Swap Weapon: ^ (don’t know if it’s on every keyboard like on germans, this is the key left from 1)
Now I changed the Weaponskills and the Class Skills:

I just tried to PvP and I really sucked hard against enemies that I usually could have beaten.

I’ll add that, you’ve offered buffs to confusion skills etc as they stand. The other way to go about it is to redesign confusion instead.

Because boonstrip rips a whole stack of boons from the target. Regardless of 1 or 25 stacks stability, 2 F3 illusions gonna stop that spin. It’s all about the boonstrip trait rather than the daze. Untraited it’s a different story.
How is this any different than it is now? Stability isn’t changing how it reacts to boon strip, it’s only changing how it reacts to direct hard cc.
I guess he meant to say that it will be affected the same way by boonstrip and only differently to “untraited”(without shattered concentration) to F3 which dazes the stability down stack per stack. (Which is exactly what you said in different words)
…and beeing unable to duel anyone with the same skill level in pvp. The only reason to take mes into pvp is the portal, to fight 2v1 at point a and then still 4v4 at point b.
Right now the mes is probably the worst class in pvp…

As I said in another thread its amazing how everytime actual problems with the Mesmer class is brought up somebody pops in to tell us about their 50k burst damage and how they can take on entire zergs solo so we all need to l2p.

You forgot the most insulting of all, when Shattered Strength was buffed up to give 3 might per clone shattered and was nerfed back down to 1 within 24 hours with devs going to the pvp forums to beg for forgiveness for buffing this.
That was the biggest kick in the pants ever.

Same applies to the ninja nerf for distortion (when distortion was dodge instead of invulnerability) well with that one WE started a flame war :P

Part of the reason why Mesmers never receive the attention it needs, the QoL improvements in needs in PvE and why in balance patches bug fixes are disguised as buffs is because everytime somebody brings up a problem there is always some ‘Mesmer player’ who comes in and tells us how great they are, how Mesmer can win 1 v 100s and how we all just need to learn how to 360 no scope. I guess also derailing the thread into PvE vs PvP is a new one at least.
Rangers had to fight hard to drag their class up from the pits, Mesmers need to do the same and not let these elitists beat you down.
I might believe this if the devs followed this profession forum as much as you seem to suggest.
