I did this around 12 hours ago. No problems. There wasn’t a “patch”… so it may have to do with the beta start
When a chronomancer does the following:
The golem will have the MESMER’s maximum health remaining… this is something WvW trolls WILL abuse to harm the servers. Please fix this!
I told you so! 3 months ago said that when you:
Continuum Split -> Enter Golem -> Continuum Shift
the golem will have your mesmers health!
Just wanted to say: “I told you so!”
Fix this pls!
decoy is NOT a manipulation…
Stealth is definetly needed for roaming, There are always dudes who’re gonna chase you 4< vs 1 so you’d be happy to have at least one souce of stealth. torch tho cuts your damage and decoy cuts your movement…
Unless you are pulling the whole 20-ish zerg behind you, you are not doing your job, BUTTERFLY UP.
Haha reminds me of something: With the old trait Illusionary Invigoration (restore all shatters when hitting 50% hp) and also with Signet invulnerability I’ve had a build with which one could be invulnerable for a whole ~15 seconds. I’ve pulled enemy zergs and let them hit me for a while^^ While my mates where opening up their keeps
I even made a difference because they didn’t have enough men to fight our zerg in the lord room… they dropped in one after another because more than half of their zerg wanted to kill a little mesmer who just dropped temporal curtain into their zerg
(took them too long tho)
Everyone knows I love a good signet build. Good work here friend.
I didn’t know! Did you try it out? Anyways thanks for the feedback!
PvP
The main problem is that with current PvP you cannot cap with distortion. Now when Stronghold rolls out this might be a great way how to support hero push.Personally I would change Illusionary Inspiration for Mental Defense, because you don’t have that many booms to share, but that will depend on your team.
If there is a good boom source on your team Illusionary Inspiration will pay off as well.
WvW
It is a very selfish build so I am assuming that you are aiming for single small team roaming. I used similar build myself so yes it will be a fun and strong build to roam with.
PvP: Yes the invulnerability certainly is a problem but it’s only one in teamfights. With most mesmer builds you’d go stealth instead which also prevents you from capping points. Until now I’ve seen my role as a fighter who tries to get the enemy down by sustaining and still having a lot of burst/dps potential since the build uses phantasms as well kittenters. In teamfights tho it sucks to share distortion to your bunker and let the other team cap/decap the point. I totally agree with your concerns there.
Looking forward to try it out on Stronghold and thanks for the advise to try to protect the hero
WvW: I’ve been using the build with either: torch offhand/Desperate Decoy/Mass Invisibility/Decoy
Stealth is definetly needed for roaming, There are always dudes who’re gonna chase you 4< vs 1 so you’d be happy to have at least one souce of stealth. torch tho cuts your damage and decoy cuts your movement…
Positive thing about torch is that you can easily Moa->SoDomination->Free downstate o_O
Is there any [OMFG] tester willing to test this build?
Thanks for the feedback!
The heal yes.. I never actually ran this heal outside of pve. It just doesn’t heal enough
However the combination of good poison removal, permaregeneration (~160hp/s) and the signet IF 3 illusions are up is actually quite strong. And since you get a few hp back when shattering you’re not left without healing =)
Foreword:
This build has been created based on the idea of not running PU-Shatter or Mantra-Shatter because I got flamed everytime I ran such builds.
The Idea of the build
Recently I literally dreamed about GW2 and that Sigil of Paralyzation, Counfounding Suggestions and Signet of Domination would result in a stun lasting for a really long period of time.
The next morning I woke up and decided to create a build running these things.
The hype was strong with me.
Even stronger was the dissappointment when I found out (or better when Chaos told me) that the sigil and the trait do not stack the stun duration to the expected 55%. The bonus of the sigil just further increased the duration from 25% to 30%. With a sad face I gave up on the idea of permastunning enemies and focused on playing with signets instead.
The Specializations:
Skills:
Weapons:
For WvW: I’d suggest to change at least one of these:
Blink-> Decoy
Signet of Humilty-> Mass Invisibility
Phantasmal Fury-> Desperate Decoy
Pistol→ Torch
Pros:
Cons:
If anyone has critique/ideas, pls post them I’m always open for them ;)

If this is really an intended change I’d say we should go with “Superior Sigil of Impact”.
Most of out burst builds are based of the idea of using Mantra of Distraction in combination with Confounding Suggestions in order to stun the opponent in preperation for the burst. Sigil of Impact would give us a 10% damage boost for all hits we manage to get within the 1.25s of the stun.
Bug:
For all who are thinking about using Impact with “Superior Sigil of Paralyzation”, it will not increase the stun duration by another 30%. It seems to not stack at all (only the 30% from the sigil are applied to the effect, 25% from CS are left out)
Maybe this is intended because Signet of Domination would stack to up to 4.75s stun if both were equipped
I see war coming, Flamewar.
I just noticed that on a warrior with the elite signet. Is it known already? I was on vacation for a few weeks.
False in so many ways. The idea about clones/phantasms/illusions would be able to copy mesmers mimics, and perform same animations as mesmers, which is fairly easy to achieve from programming wise, since mechanics for this are already in the game.
“There is counter to stealth. Timing Positioning, Prediction, Revealed”.
Please don’t make me laugh, this is overall-game-combat-knowledge. This is not a counter. Counter would be for example if mesmer goes in the stealth, if there would be skill to reveal a player in 1200 range, that would be a counter, but currently not what you’ve mentioned.Setting target on mesmer is not as easy as you say, they can stealth a lot in a single fight.
This statement is laughable.
First: Clones are nothing a good player would mistake for the real one. That’s how it is. Don’t make up silly thoughts saying “programming wise it’s possible”. It won’t make it into the game. 100% Certain.
If you cannot handle the “overall-game-combat-knowledge” this thread is only due to a l2p issue.
Again, there ARE counters for stealth. Engineers and Rangers are able to reveal a target (which is why I included the link in first place but I’m pretty sure you didn’t even click on it being sure that you know everything that link could possibly show you).
“Setting target on mesmer is not as easy as you say, they can stealth a lot in a single fight.”
YES, that is why mesmers need stealth. To counter that basic game mechanic. If mesmers always had a big red sign on them there would be NO reason for deceiving clones. Don’t you get it. A mesmer without stealth but with better clones would be a mesmer without better clones! Before the fight even starts the opponent targets the mesmer and will never have a problem finding out the real one he’s targeted anyways.
Don’t you understand that? You shouldn’t be able to target and happyly kill a mesmer!
Revealed is not a counter to stealth. It can do nothing on ppl who are in stealth. It has power on ppl who are not. This is the real problem with stealth. It lacks counter play.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Lock_On
There is a reason why there is only ONE profession with something like this trait.
No. There are reasons:
To have a mesmer mistaken by the opponent the mesmer would have to
There is a counter to stealth. Timing, Positioning, Prediction and the biggest one: Revealed
Next thing which would make it impossible for mesmers to confuse ppl with clones is the “Call Target” option in Guildwars 2. Put that big red cross over the mesmers head and you’ll never lose him. Stealth is the only tool to counter that mechanic which would kill every last bit of deception a mesmer is able to create with clones.
Hm… sooo I already got my berserker armor…. gonna build an as_sas_sin one for pve now
I don’t really know anything about engineers but I know that this skill obviously is bugged.
There are 2 versions of the skill atm and one of them (as shown in the video) throws up to 13 grenades instead of 6 creating 1 shots when used by a zerker engineer.
Hi everyone,
I’d like to present you a build I created and messed around with a little. The aim of the build is to land a good interrupt, triggering Furious Interruption, Power Block and Chaotic Interruption to initiate a quickness, might and (from Master Fencer) fury buffed “Confusing Images”.
If you hit an interrupt from Diversion or your Mantra, your target will get 8 vulnerability (increasing dmg by 12%) and take some damage. You will get 5 stacks might.
The other strong burst combo is to interrupt and use mirror blade or 17 vulnerability (+25.5%dmg) and shatter =)
Trait setup:
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgMBfAJcA9Q~
I did NOT take Duelists’ Discipline because I want the burst from the iDuelist/iZerker.
I took Furious Interruption over Shattered Concentration to be able to get a quicker spike from Confusing Images.
The skills:
Equipment:
Wow this thread.
I am definetly supporting pyro’s opinion by 100%.
Now that we got on a level with other professions (where even a newbe can actually get somebody downed) many of you are hating around. Why aren’t you just happy that we finally got on an equal level to all the other professions out there which are played by many ppl.
Don’t you think it’s unfair? You don’t want players who are not as good as you are playing the profession you like. This is extremly egoistic.
If you want to be special then try to be special by being better, not by being one of a few.
PS: I don’t understand why ppl are complaining. There are thieves in WvW who deal >15k backstabs. When the first hint of the enemy being there is dropping down to 10% hp after one single hit which also stunnes you then please do not complain about cptn obvious mirror blade attacks.
PPS: PU is a different story and need’s a nerf yes. I already said this before the patch.
PPPS: Lockdown is not interrupt. Interrupts require skillful timing and knowledge. It’s nothing the mainstreamers will be able to do effectively.
Ehrm… the 3rd minor trait in dueling isn’t confusing combatants anymore but a trait that grants 5s of fury whenever we hit a target with less than 75% hp. (some icd) does someone know all changes we didn’t know yet? Did any of the streamers go through all of these?
There are no words.
This change is good in my opinion. Duelling is about crits and evades, not conditions. Fury is also something shatter mesmer and interrupt mes can make use of.
However, the MtD change is bad bad bad for condi mesmer.Duelist’s Discipline, Sharper Images and Mistrust say hello.
With a 50% critchance the average bleed by one traited iDuelist is 9.33
4 stacks by critical hits using Sharper Images
8*0.33*2= 5.33 using Duelist’s Discipline.
Not Bad imo.
With Phantasmal Fury the average is lower.
8*0.7=5.6
With Confusing Combatants beming removed that’s sadly our only good condition applycation in dueling :/ Mind that it’s only bleeding.
And they leave in some stuff like Rending Shatter, a trait that will never be close to competing with Confounding Suggestions.
One of the bad traits we mesmers hat before the patch. Devs saying it’s a “decent” one… I cannot understand this.
How about we get the Fury trait in that slot and Confusing Combatants back?!
Ehrm… the 3rd minor trait in dueling isn’t confusing combatants anymore but a trait that grants 5s of fury whenever we hit a target with less than 75% hp. (some icd) does someone know all changes we didn’t know yet? Did any of the streamers go through all of these?
Imagine Chronomancer’s Shield with Mental Defense. 2 Phantasms on Block + another block for 10s and a potential of 3 phantasms which can be shattered twice if traited with Chronophantasma.
if they gonna nerf mtd they should decrease the duration not the stacks. so from 6 seconds to 4 seconds (33% nerf and not 50%)
Would take kitten . That would result in having it not buffed or nerfed. We’d just have to hit with our IP.
MtD nerf? I’d like to request that Panic Strike and Executioner get into the same tier.
No real complaint here I just randomly picked a strong thing since our strong thing got/gets nerfed.^^
If mimic works with elite :
Chronomancer > F5 > Moa > Mimic > Moa > F5 > Moa > Mimic > Moa :pOp as hell!
Wrong. Mimic resets cd of the NEXT Skill used. Moa Mimic Moa wouldn’t work…
“This skill now causes the next utility slot skill you use within 10 seconds to recharge in 1 second. Increased recharge to 90 seconds.”
I don’t know if the programming is possible but I’d love it to reset the charges to 2/3(if traited)
Both traits work “on daze” which means they are both triggered in the moment you try to daze a target.
Daze→Stun & Vulnerability
I’d take Harmonious Mantras… and MoPain.^^
also wouldn’t go with the gs trait. it’s not needed to stack might yourself. what else are PS warriors for?
@ Pyro: He refered to the trait.
@ quBit: The mirror will still apply when you press the button. You will gain an additional 2seconds after the first reflect if it’s traited.
I think one could actually build a mesmer tank with that trait. based on intelligent shattering and some illusions. http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgMC3AP8BOQ~
With a sentinel/solider gear this build could work. (no cleric cuz hp doesn’t really scale good on mesmer^^ We’d be having blinds, tons of boons, conditionremoval and heal from shattering. With the defender not occupying a utility slot it could be even better.
utilities would be mirror, blink, mirror images, optional, time warp
I think i’d actually replace dueling with chrono in hot.
http://dulfy.net/gw2traits#build=AgMGWAP8BOQ~
For PvE (Dungeons) the best would be to explain them how the meta works.
Explaining reflects, runing them through all the instances at least once to get them know the game.
Damage>Defense & Support=/= Less Dmg
In Guild Wars 2 the PvE content is easily done if you know the enemy. Bosses have attacks which should be dodged and attacks you could also just ignore or heal against. It is not required to go for tanky equipment. Mostly it’s best to go all out for offensive stats. If you want to support your group you can use skills that either prevent the damage enemies deal or enhance the damage your allies deal.
Examples are “blinds” which cause the enemy to miss his next attack and might which buffs your allies’ power and condition damage.
Another way to support are reflects. There are a lot of bosses that use projectiles to deal massive damage. With skills like “Feedback” you can reflect these projectiles back to their source preventing them from hitting your allies and dealing that massive damage to your enemy. (not every projectile is reflectable though) (detailed information should be given // isn’t there a thread about when and where to reflect?)
That won’t be happening… unless they’ve been sipping THAT kind of Kool-Aid over at the ANet office.
All people would do it run back and forth over it to stack up a bunch of swiftness, and then run around with it. This was how it was like in the betas, and that’s why they made it work the way it does now.
Of course, it would be nice if it would remember if you has already crossed it, and thus only give you one stack of swiftness per line, but I don’t think they’re setup to do that properly in their code.
Signet of inspiration got the buff though, so now there is a dedicated movespeed option for mesmers. It’s a brave new world.
This argument against the stacking doesn’t count. There are traits that have ICD per target. Why can’t there be a skill with ICD per target?
Edit: Oh someone already said this :x

I’ll get a lot of hate for that now:
I don’t think you all are getting what arenanet does. To me it sounds like this: “Buy HoT and get a copy of Guild Wars 2 for free.”
The Expansion would have costed 50$ anyways but they’re giving new players the base game for free in addition to the expansion.
The only thing I understand being angry about is that one cannot split the two. If you buy the expansion now you cannot add it to your account and open another account for free.
Obviously they shouldn’t have made the offer of giving away the base game for free
For me there are a couple of changing builds.
My shatterbuild will no longer spec into illusions.
I will now change it into using the chaos line with these traits~
For these trait’s I will now no longer use a sword and a torch but go doubleranged. With the new stafftrait in that line I just have to go for that and try it out. I’m also going to try using mirror instead of ether feast. I’m courious what kind of plays this new heal with 33% reflect uptime gives us.
The skills I run will most likely be Mirror, Decoy, Blink, MoDistraction, Mass Invisibility
With a single charge of the mantra you can now stun, stack 8 stacks of vulnerability, gain 5 might and immobilize. The fact that this all doesn’t deal dmg (no Power Block) means that you’ll still be able to spike from stealth with mirrorblade dodge shatter.
Also it’s likely for stunned enemies not to dodge/cast anything which would trigger the 30% dmg boost from Mental Anguish
Potential Spike:
Daze: 5 stacks vulnerability + stun (you don’t want this)
If interrupted: 8 stacks vulnerability + 5 stacks might + 2s immobilize + stun
Mirror Blade: 9 stacks vulnerability + 6 stacks might
all in all the preperations for MW result in 17 stacks vulnerability (25.5%) +11 stacks might + stun for 30% shatterdmg
You would chose Phantasmal Fury over Desperate Decoy? I don’t care.
When the Chronomancer comes out we’ll get access to wells and Continuum Split with these tools and the new Mimic skill we could actually spike insanely strong:
Happy bagging in WvW =)
Does anyone think that quadrawell could be a thing in PvE? 4 Wells of Calamity would deal some heavy load of damage, wouldn’t they?
Would they be not taken because of being an etherfield or can you really imagine this to happen?
Thought’s pls I’ve been out of PvE for some time.
~Me Games Ma
I’d now take it over Veil for any PU build using Decoy, Blink and Mimic.
I see a real cool thing incoming there… (when HoT ships)
F5→Mimic→Well of Calamity→Well of Calamity→F5→Mimic→Well of Calamity→Well of Calamity→/dance
Hm… we got Mass Manipulation and Signet of Moaity fine with me
People can only reflect a projectile that is fresh and has never been reflected.
No. Like frifoxy said, it can be reflected twice. I tested it with a guardian today using Wall of Reflection and Mirror (Temporal Curtain didn’t work. I guess because it’s too small).
I fired a scepter AA which was reflected by Wall of Reflection. I hit Mirror just before it hit me and it was reflected again and went through the Wall of Refletion.
I wonder if these projectiles get a “not reflectable” skill fact on them after being reflected twice, or (like all the projectiles anet did not want to be reflected an “unblockable” sign. Going to sleep now and test it tomorrow.
It won’t. Projectiles can be reflected only ONCE.
Sorry I was wrong there… never actually happened to me and last time I tried it with the Focus Wall which was just high enough :/
Tested again. It’s like frifoxy sais.

Running a lot interrupt atm: 26600-WvW or 44600-PvP
My problems in PvP are Celestial Engineers.
In wvw I can fight almost everything quite good (doesn’t mean I win everything). There is no specific build I’d run away from all the time.
The thing which worries me most atm (both gamemodes) are pew pew rangers who use rampage as one. I have trouble with their stability (even with the build using shattered concentration). The application of their stability is strong enough that I cannot get rid of it long enough. I mostly try to los these guys until rampage as one is gone. After that they’re almost free kill.
Want to take a guess at how dead the boss will be by the time you get 3 duelists up and fully ticking?
Very dead.
The answer to your problems is “Chronomancer”… without slow or quickness I’d be 4s for the summoning of all three. (maintaining them is a different story)
F5→Duelist→SoEther→Duelist→F5→Duelist (SoE is ready if one of them dies)
That and the confusion…
Hey all, what would you think of MoF not only improving shatter skills but also make the IP-element of our F1-F3 a blast combo finisher?
It would mean that we’d have 3 more blasts on demand if traited for Master of Fragmentation.
Only the shatter around you! Not your clones’ shatter!
Could you see it balanced? Would it be to strong for a single trait? Would you even take it? How would you make use of it? Wasting shatters for blasting?
~10 stacks of bleeding, ~10 stacks of burning, ~10 stacks of confusion and ~10 stacks of vulnerability (+10% more condi damage).
All these just just 3 clones and AA.
BOOM.
Nono. No 10 stacks of burning for you.
That burning lasts only 1 second. even if all your clones AND you would apply only burning from the RNG it’d stack up to 8 stacks.
Bleeding and confusion should be even higher though.
I’m ready for the QQ. Bring it on!
Depends on the mesmer. I’d say that there are 2 or 3 types of condition mesmers.
First which I believe are the strongest: Maim the disillusioned shatter. These mesmers will focus on massive clone production to shatter them for torment and confusion. It’s likely for these mesmers to play scepter torch + staff. They will depending on their skill they can spike you with insane high torment stacks (up to 17 isn’t that hard). When you see them shatter, dodge in the direction where the illusions come from. It’s the best way to avoid as many shatters as possible with a single dodge. Another important thing is to avoid the scepter block skill. Whe the mesmer blocks with the scepter he’ll cast a skill which hits you with 5 stacks of torment. You can avoid it by dodging right after the mesmer blocked your attack. Another thing you can do is deny shatters by cleaving down the illusions before the mesmer shatters them (don’t focus your play on that though).
The second way of playing condi mesmers is a passive playstyle which focuses on illusions to inflict the conditions (on crit). These mesmers will try to summon illusions like staffclones or duelists which hit more often and have a higher chance to crit. You can simply kill their damage sources. Be aware! Some of them also have clonedeath traits, these inflict conditions on aoe around a killed clone.
Last class are these who focus on clonedeaths. They will trynto have their illusions be killed to get you down. They’re getting removed so don’t worry
~Me Games Ma
PS: sry for bad typus, i’m on my phone
Also before some smart alec turns round and says the meta will change for PvE, I don’t see anything the will change it except for open world and that’s already a “play how you like” type of place given how brain dead easy it is.
“the meta will change”
No seriously. From what we know atm you’ll be able to keep up alacrity if you shatter Mindwrack with 3 illusions and cry of frustration with 3 illusions always as soon as it’s off cooldown. That means that you’ll get overall 33% cooldownreduction in our beloved stackmeta. And btw. don’t your illusions die anyways?
Shatter them <3
33% cooldownreduction means that you’ll get to shatter mindwrack every ~7s and cry of frustration every ~15s — with mental torment? I think that’s really cool.
I think there won’t be specific shatterbuilds anymore since every build is going to use them in the future. Right now there are 2 kind of builds. Builds that use shatters and builds that do not use shatters.
With the traitchanges it seems like arenanet wants every mesmer regardless of what they are playing to use the profession mechanic. But does that destroy other build types? No!
There is place for every kind of build. Not only the traitchanges but also the traits that become baseline encourage our build diversity.
With IP becoming baseline they open up every door for us. Now one of the strongest traits is going to be baseline. The trait which made a shatterbuild a shatterbuild. With the changes there will not only be one shatterbuild but many of them.
There will be builds like “support mesmer” who shatters for condition removal and buffs.
There will be “interrupt mesmers” who will also use shatters to increase damageoutput and their interrupts.
There will be “dmg/dps mesmers” who will try to shatter with Mental Torment being triggered most of the time.
Think of it as a thief thinks of steal. I haven’t seen any thief build not using their F1 skill. Think of shatters like that. It’ll be a thing every mesmer is going to use.
Btw OP. 30% phantasm dmg is still a thing! 15% going to be baseline and 15% are still in domination. Before making such a claim pls inform.
