I think the Stunbreak is balanced because you really have to predict the enemys stun. Well against some classes thats easy (KD-Warrior, Necromancer’s Fear, because most of them use it in the same rotation.) but most of the time, when you want to break a stun with swap you really have to be a good player. As already said:

[…] leap require you to be inside the 600 range to activate, only has a 5 (five) second stunbreak window, and blinks you TOWARDS where the clone is […]

What I think what’s quite OP is how enemys react on Illusionary Leap. Most of them make a dodge so it’s a good skill to keep your enemy’s energy low. Without even doing a spike and need to bear a cooldown.
One halb of the energy bar needs 10 seconds to refill (without boons/sigils) so you really can keep your enemy below max energy the whole time without even doing a spike… when he notices and stops dodging… SPIKE!
That’s OP!

As the most mesmer skills you really have to know how to use it. But when you figured out… you can dominatet your enemy really hard

The mid point golem fight requires an untraited focus. I believe it is the only skill that can currently negate is spinning poison spread. The traited focus doesn’t seem to work.

Halting Strike and Wastrel's Punishment

I just thought of Halting Strike and wondered if it damages after interrupting (what would cause Wastrel’s Punishment to trigger) or if it damages while interrupting (so that you gain no 5% additional damage).

I would test it but the steady pvp weapons do not help here. Does anyone know how this works?

Why does Veil not have a negative effect?

I think veil is just good like it is atm. You can use it in many different situations.

  • PvE: Skipping mobs in dungeons, hiding npcs from enemies, avoid dmg by doo many mobs
  • PvP: You can stay 4-6 s invisible with it… thats not bad for a class like the mesmer. We’re not thieves!
  • WvW: Nearly everywhere… zergfights, roaming, playing in small groups…

Well I won’t be angry when they buff my skills but i think it’s balanced^^

I forgot to mention that I created the build for the wvw-squad in our guild. The leader told me that I have to use a staff, deal as mutch dmg as possible and that at least 2 mesmers have to go with nullfield and veil. The others may use other utilities.

I’d like to ask you (all of the mesmers out there) why noone uses Imbued Diversion. I think it’s quite OP in Zergfights.

clear enemies boons (-, possibly equal)
Left boon-strip on shatter in. Added -20% glamour recharge for null field use. Overall, my version would strip boons a little less than your original, due to reduce shredding recharge rate, and no iCelerity for faster illusion generation. But, has an extra phantasm for on demand, no travel time shatters.

I agree that the boon removal in your build is as good as in my one.
let’s think of the best case for both

  • nullfield: duration 7s, 5 targets, 1 boon/s = 35 boons with 32s cooldown 35/32 -> 1,09 boons/s
  • shatter mindwrack: 3 clones with 5 targets each =15 boons with 13,75s cd 15/13,75-> 1,09 boons/s
  • cry of frustration: 3 clones with 5 targets =15 boons with 27,25s cd 15/27,25->0,55
  • diversion: 3 clones with 1 target= 3 boons with 40,75s cd -> 0,07 boons/s
  • greatsword 3: 5 targets with 12s cd 5/12 -> 0,41 boons/s

With all skills perfectly hit your build strips 3,21 boons per second

my build:

  • nullfield 35/40 -> 0,875
  • mind wrack 15/11,5 -> 1,3
  • cry of frustration 15/23 -> 0,65
  • diversion 15/34,5 -> 0,4

3,23 boons per second with every skill perfecly hit

buff himself and his allies (+ to ++)
Added Signet of Inspiration. Points into the Inspiration line allows for group vigor on shatter trait (if not taking -20% glamour). Greatsword #5 should about match the loss from Chaos Storm, and -20% recharge on focus is wonderful for more focus pulls.

I agree with you in that point. I also want to use Signet of Inspiration and wrote it in my post:

The -20% glamour trait allows their use more often. In addition, Warden’s Feedback gives reflect on focus use, especially notable with Temporal Curtain, and more curtain and iWarden use.

deal damage with shatterskills on range (-, possibly —)
My version has reduced shredding recharge rate and lacks iCelerity, as well as the mind wrack buff traits. However, it has a better auto-attack weapon, a no travel-time phantasm for shattering, and more aoe vulnerability.

I have a Question: How can you cause more aoe vulnerability than with the combination of “Imbued Diversion” and “Dazzling”?
Also this is why I can’t use your suggestion. Damage is too important to let it out. Even if it’s only the shatterskills damage.

Know Your Skills: Signet Of Midnight

I have a pve-shatterbuild where i use signet of midnight as stunbreaker and for the invulerability so i can deal good dmg and still be able to survive(used signet of midnight because it’s an instantcast).

Before that I didn’t even think about playing with this skills active effect. As already said before it depends on your traits.

i think you could just play thoose build with dire (toughness vitality conditiondmg) but if thoose builds are viable is another question and even if i’d like to answer that one i don’t know. i never played condition without precision^^

Hey everyone.
This Build still isn’t finished yet so i’d like you to post your suggestions to improve it

I’d like to suggest a new (maybe not for everyone) way of playing the Mesmer in WvW-Fights.

The Idea was to create a mesmer that can:

  • clear enemies boons
  • buff himself and his allies
  • support with skills like veil or nullfield
  • deal damage with shatterskills on range

I don’t use full berserk because sometimes you don’t have as mutch free space as you’d need to survive.
I’m still not sure what utilitys i should use. Signet of inspritaion, mirror images, veil, blink, nullfield, feedback,… they’re all good for the build (help pls?)

Your role is to support your allies and deal damage from behind.
Well support doesn’t only mean to grant boons or heal, it also includes removing boons from your enemy to make him deal less dmg or not having stability.
I think every WvW-player knows how important boons like stability are. you can just remove it with 3 of your shatters or nullfield.

advantages with this build:

  • more boonremoval then with just using nullfield(more often and not static)
  • quite good dps from behind
  • good teamsupport with signet of inspiration(bountiful interruption)
  • chance to daze very many enemys at once (used the right time this might cause the victory for your world) +5 stacks vulnerability per daze
  • many clones to shatter (scepter)
  • still not bad with singletarged dmg (scepter)
  • even when you do not shatter and your clones die you support through weakness/vulnerability (chaos 5)
  • staff is always nice in teamplay

please write constructive criticism and post your suggestions for improving the build

most time i use Sword&Fokus / Staff but lately i try to run “different” builds that do dmg and also support my group (most time with bountiful interruption) for this i take a gs instead of a staff. i’m still testing how i can combine support and damage to the max.

today i ran with sword&sword / gs or staff with a spec for triplecast mantra and bountiful interruption

I think “inactive” means dazed/stunned/knocked down/etc.

Did you try dazing your friend?

I can think of 2 possible behaviors: either it gives 5% more damage on dazed than the 5% less damage on players casting (zeroing out the bonus/malus) or it gives 5% more damage than the normal damage, leaving us with the mistery of the reduced damage on players casting a skill

I just created a build that allows me to jump into the enemyzerg and shatter with all I’ve got^^

also works fine in zerg v zerg ^^ massdmg through confusion and you’re invulnerable the whole time

Works for tagging, but the damage with a power build is much better (spike kills people)

My goal isn’t to kill them. in a big zerg there are too many people to rezz everyone who goes into downstate instandly

my goal is to draw their attention – conditions create more nice damage numbers on their screen ( the higher the better) -> when i got their attention i can play with them. my record was to stay invulnerable in the enemy zerg for 16 seconds and then jump out invisible.

they all attacked me and stopped on their way to the tower they wanted to defend

Mainhand Pistol with old “friends” from GW1

1.) Autoattack :

  • a skill that does dmg and bounces back (only) to the mesmer/clone granting swiftness
  • Range: 900
  • Activation: 1/2s
  • 20% for projectile combo finisher
  • 1s swiftness

2. Wastrel’s Demise:

  • a skill that deals heavy aoe damage and does even more when the enemy is NOT using a skill
  • Range: 900
  • +10% dmg when enemy is not using a skill
  • Cooldown 12s
  • Activation 1s

3.) Calculated Risk: (My favorite)

  • a skill that does medium dmg and grants might to your enemy but also causes cripple, weakness and blind. also creates a clone on hit that uses autoattack
  • Range 900
  • Cooldown 20s
  • Activation (press and hold) 0.25-1.25s (5 steps 0.25 | 0.5 | 0.75 | 1 | 1.25)
  • 1-5 stacks might for 15s for your enemy
  • 2-10s weakness
  • 1-5s cripple
  • 1-5s blind

Here are a few other skills i’ve thought of:

x1.) Aneurysm:

  • a skill that does more dmg when the enemy has low energy
  • Cooldown 15s
  • Activation: 0.75s
  • Range 900
  • +5% dmg when the target has 50-99% energy
  • +10% dmg when the target has 0-50% energy

x2) Overload:

  • a skill that deals heavy dmg and dazes the enemy. if the enemy is channeling a skill you stun instead of dazing

x3) Shrinking Armor:

  • 8 stacks of vulnerability for 10s

x4) Illusionary Meteor:

  • the mesmer shoots a bullet in the sky (charge skill) after the ccharge it’ll take 3s to cause an effect
  • a skill that does really heavy dmg and controll your enemy
    *Activation 1.5-4.5 seconds (1.5|2.5|3.5|4.5)
  • Range 1200 (1500 with trait)
  • Cooldown 40s
  • Charge 1: deal dmg through a bullet that falls from the sky
  • Charge 2: deal more dmg (the bullet is a boulder now) + knockdown 2s
  • Charge 3: deal more dmg (bullet is a canonball now) aoe dmg+knockdown 1.5s

I just came up with a really strange idea.

I just created a build that allows me to jump into the enemyzerg and shatter with all I’ve got^^

i only use VI in illusions for being sure that even if something goes wrong i can still invu at least 1s

edit: trait VI illusions
here’s the build

now how to play this crappy looking trollbuild:

  1. use prestige and run into the enemyzerg
  2. use torch 5 and sword 3(2 times) and shatter F2 // now they know your’re there
  3. use sword 2 to dodge all attacks and get a better view for the situation (the whole zerg should focus you now (well they did focus me)
  4. create 2 clones with mirror images and shatter F4 (3s invu)
  5. take out your staff and create a phantasm (3), dodge and shatter F1
  6. activate signet of illusions and instandly shatter F1 + F2
  7. jump put of the zerg with phase retreat and shatter F4 + use mass invis
  8. run. you just trolled a whole zerg all alone!

also works fine in zerg v zerg ^^ massdmg through confusion and you’re invulnerable the whole time

i tested in sPvP with a friend (ele no armor/traits) what “inactive” is

  • i used a sigil of bloodlust to have the same power with trait and without
  • i used the weaps that always do same dmg (sorry don’t know the english name)
  • i didn’t count crits

results:

without trait:
enemy standing afk: 101 dmg
enemy running around: 101 dmg
enemy casting a spell: 101 dmg

with trait:
enemy standing afk: 101 dmg
enemy running around: 101dmg
enemy casting a spell: 96 dmg

a thing i just figured out is that the trait “Wastrel’s Punishment” decreases the damage on foes which are using a skill by 5%

to inactive foes dmg isn’t changed

just for thoose who want to skill more than 25 points in domination
