This story makes no sense at all. The audience thing isn’t even the worst part.
That they would be willing to give the most powerful artifacts to a dragon in a weakened state to heal it so it can crush them all just makes no sense at all. Esp as the debate if Queen Jennah is more important than destroying a dragon is already finished since the books. It is not but for Logan.
There is no need to basically do that thing all over again just to have 4+ other characters to be out of character and happily giving a mortal enemy the keys to Tyria only to win because of a half thought through lucky break which separates the minions from its master, which also already happened with the Sylvari, just that it makes even less sense.
However… I believe we should be able to have a conversation about this without the moderator team being required to lock the thread. Don’t you agree? Especially when, as several forum members have pointed out, this is one NPC with a few lines of dialogue who it not part of the story or of an event. You may interact with her, or not, as you choose. Just as you may join this thread, or not. But if you do…
If you feel negatively towards the presence of this NPC, this optional, easily-avoided, easily-ignored NPC, please avoid her in the game and please consider not posting in this thread unless you can do so with respectful and constructive comments.
Thanks.
I like that you reopened the thread, but it’s sad to see that such an NPC has to be some unimportant background character.
I’m not saying you (as in ANet) have to add a trans NPC as a major character, you already did a lot with adding Marjory/Kas (and other homosexual couples) and Taimi. But at the same time the last paragraph is still telling of the state of transgender people in them still having even more problems of being accepted.
As a trans person myself a huge yay and thank you to ArenaNet!
I have a char slot “left over” from keyfarming. Maybe I’ll buy another one at some point again to continue, though I think I’ll first save some gold for the gems for the deluxe upgrade when it arrives (yay for paying 5gold 40silver for the vanilla deluxe back in the day). Also I currently own 25 slots.

Good thing pointing that out about a month after I sold my ring collection
Reminds me of the Prophecies tut change 2 weeks after I got my Legendary Defender of Ascalon
People broke down the math month’s ago on reddit, it always floated around 8%
I remember something similiar to this too when i started looking at ascended armor.
That is because 5% more stats doesn’t equate to 5% more efficient.
It’s all relative to base stats, as x * 1.05 is different than x * 1.05 + y. It would only equate to that if the formula would be (x + y) * 1.05, which it’s not.Not all base stats apply equally from 0 to infinity.
Example. Take off all your armor and check how much precision you have and how much crit % you have.
Note how that baseline 900+ precision gets your crit chance up to about 4%.
I know, I do not assume it to be 0, I assume it to be a normalized 1 (aka 100%) thus one can say x attribute increase doubles the result aka 2, which is what percentage is. You just tripped into the fallacy of using absolute values while it’s about relative values. Which most users here do.
So you are saying that Weapon Power (that is one of weapon statistics) that now equals 5% more than exotic, as other stats. Won’t be increased to 10% to match with other statistics… Interesting.
Also Your example is one of the extreams, as Base stat is significantly higher than stats provided by equipment (it works like you only wore +pow on weapon, if you start doing math with other equipment equipment than you will see diffrence).
I did not see anything about weapon power or armor being increased, only the attributes itself, please feel free to quote it to prove me wrong. The fallacy is that absolute attribute values are higher, but the resulting relative difference in the stats, and resulting values are still about the same as before.
Though as said before, it’s not easy to deduct what they exactly mean by giving each rarity a ~30% boost. Depending on what exactly they do this could make white weapons a lot crappier than they are already and boost ascended a lot in any case.
Direct damage formula supposed to be (by wiki):
(Weapon strenght * Total Power * skill Modifier)/Total armorIf I am correct then asc increase weapon strenght and Equipement Power by 10%.
When we compare this to exo it will leave.
1,1 * (1,1 * Equipment Power + Base Stat Power + Buffs Power + Runes Power) / (Equipment Power + Base Stat Power + Buffs Power + Runes Power)It mean dmg increase is at least 10% (regardless of stat set), and a bit more depending how much Equipment Power one have compared to Base Stats, and temproraly buffs.
If you don’t have any power on equipment it is 10% more direct damage.
If you don’t have any buffs and have 1k Equipment power (equals Base power), without power on runes, then you get 15,5% more direct damage.
I’ve given a real example just a few posts above. Your formula is flawed as it’s actually weapon strength * power * skill modifier / armor. You’re adding the stats to the weapon strength, which is not the case, and the difference isn’t as kittenhown in the numbers above.

With the change of having a base stat at level 80 to be 1000 instead of 926 all it does is basically getting more in line with what it does at the moment, while all whites to exotic if not changed will be diminished in what the final result is but difference between exotic and ascended stays roughly the same. (As 1000 is the base value an increse of x is less worth as x/1000 is smaller than x/926)
A little damage calculation (simplified damage formula by leaving out skill coefficient and just using a berserker greatsword and no other equipment for both, also no crit):
Ascended
Strength: 1045-1155
Power: 188
Power new: 197
Exotic
Strength: 995-1100
Power: 179
Damage
Exo min: 995 * 1105 / 926 = 1187.3380129589632829373650107991
Exo max: 1100 * 1105 / 926 = 1312.6349892008639308855291576674
Asc min: 1045 * 1114 / 926 = 1257.1598272138228941684665226782
Asc max: 1155 * 1114 / 926 = 1389.4924406047516198704103671706
Exo min new: 995 * 1179 / 1000 = 1173.105
Exo max new: 1100 * 1179 / 1000 = 1296.9
Asc min new: 1045 * 1197 / 1000 = 1250.865
Asc max new: 1155 * 1197 / 1000 = 1382.535
As one can see the difference in the resulting values are again roughly the same (and would diminish even more with full equipment). It’s not quite correct as all equipment gets +30% attributes (the notes didn’t say if it’s 30% of the base, white, value or the rarities value, thus I left it out, though it’s probably based on white stats), but this also only diminishes the difference as the higher you go the more you need for having the same % difference.

People are missing here that the default stats are going to be higher too. To keep the scale other stats have to be scaled too.
I guess this wouldn’t be an issue with as much people if they kept the base game for 10 bucks and made the upgrade 50. I do complain because at least so far it doesn’t seem whole campaigny like it was previously, but I got it and kinda hope HoTs is actually bigger than it seems right now (so far we only really saw 1 map which was only half explorable, so there’s room for that).
That’s really a shame, I actually got 2 boxes in one mail after the last beta event.
You mean the game which had expansions that were, in their own rights, fully fleshed out and playable games in and of themselves that only expanded the universe they were in AND gave free character slot upgrades to existing owners so they could hit the ground running with the new classes introduced in their games with RACH expansion? THAT guild wars 1?
These were “campaigns” the only real expansion, Eye of the North, came for about half the price of a new campaigns and you were able to get it without having it bundled with one of the campaigns, though you had the option.
Even ingame when purchasing the addon it states “includes Guild Wars 2 core game”… that’s a bit meh. I feel like “I’m in the core game right now, why am I forced to get a second?”
There is no upgrade only it seems.

If he/she’s got access to MSDN he/she can probably already download and install it. MSDN users get new stuff usually a few weeks before the actual release.
Super Pistol… gifted it to a friend (it was ~9g back then) who doesn’t even play anymore QQ
World 1 Zone 3 for me. It’s just awesome, too bad it’s not accessible right now.
And here I thought this thread would be about shoes with wings.
(whatever several means here^^).
Either regular several, or SAB several.
It’s only 3 weeks until the price goes up to 5 tickets, which is huge. Also the next set will be released at that point.
I also second this motion!
The RNG is with you, young Luckwalker.
Samwell — low-skill warrior who’s leveled up by crafting
He actually read Tomes of Knowledge.
Tbh don’t really get it, they basically just removed an alpha overlay. The icons themselves were always square. Maybe someone overwrote stuff by accident and they don’t want to change it back until the new UI releases?
KeePass and similar programs are, when running, as unsafe as having a text file lying around with all your passwords.
1. you dont save passwords in clear text
2. You use the timeout feature of keepass to ask for the master password again. 30-45seconds in between application access is more then enough to copy/paste your usernames and passwords. This is hardly a security issue.
If someone has access to your hdd it’s not hard to access memory, or keypresses.
Tbh if you have to worry about encoding stuff on your hdd it’s already too late.

Did you click on the sell button on the left?
Does your stuff you want to sell reside inside invisible bags? If so they aren’t shown to a vendor.
If you think that’s shocking, how about the dagger
If you think that’s shocking how about the Super Warhorn?

I am all for the cheater munching Quaggans!
It’s a split between DR and Rata Sum mostly. DR usually has more RPers.
You should have the slot already (last one on the left, did the screens some hours ago).
Wouldn’t that be ‘last one on the right’ ?
kitten my left/right dyslexia

If you’ve connected with GW2 it’s always the same as the GW2 pw.
Tbh here I was hoping for SAB to be reactivated with some lore background to bridge the drought.
Iirc if you set a GW2 password it also overrides the GW1 password, but the GW1 can only be I think 16 or 18 characters long. If your password is longer than that trim it to this number of characters for the input field.
(At least if they didn’t fix this issue in the meantime)
Be glad that you don’t play WoW where transferring a single character costs 20 bucks.
I would recommend doing /cheer @
For wide-scale destruction, MOAB and various thermobarics would get the job done without resorting to anything leaving nuclear fallout. Specialized chemical and biological weapons, defoliants; it’s game over pretty quickly. As to how the area looks after…
This is all assuming that the magics of these creatures can’t counter most of it.
Both types you mention only work over the ground. Esp thermobarics use the surrounding oxygen, and MOAB (Massive Ordnance Air Blast) needs to be detonated before touching the ground for efficiency (which is why the spiritual precursor for it which has the same concept got the nickname Daisy Cutter).
Guess we really need the Commando class to find out
But I’d say something like Vinewrath is probably a lot easier but I can’t really see them easily killing an underground structure that extends over kilometers. (Does Mordi even have a centralized nerve system?)
Town clothes were awesome.
Some of them even look a lot more fitting to fight in than a few outfits and other skins.
There are chests upon event completion, that’s actually where I got mine. But yes any enemy, chest, and event in DT and SW has a chance to drop it too.
Btw fastest event completion is to get a caravan from Red Rock to Amber Sandfall. You usually get also gold completion in both defense events on the way and repair events. Also caravan event mobs drop a lot of t6 mats.

My 7th try at flushing random rares down the mystic toilet awarded me Dusk (Sep 23, 2013, ~11pm). Was nice but it was also about the only real valuable drop for me. But that’s randomness. What is not random is diminishing returns as described in my last post and Odyssey’s.
(edited by MegumiAzusa.2918)
As GW1 had a confirmed anti-farm code (reduced (value) of drops in an area you farm with a character etc http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Anti-farm_code ) I would guess GW2 has something equal.
I experienced it when doing random stuff for about half a year, then returning to world boss runs for weeks. The first week I got about 1 exo per world boss (not counting the daily bonus chest), and later it went back to “if I’m lucky I get a rare”.
OP: That’s the most awesome Norn alive.
been catching up with GW1 recently and it shows how little variety there could have been :p (I could be wrong though I’m only halfway through prophecies)
True, Varesh was the first female that really had any real impact. Maybe the Fortune Teller, though it’s a demon and thus probably gender neutral.
Spatial Surge is not a projectile, thus without a target bone to connect it simply doesn’t work.
Point being, if you’re on a flat surface, your projectiles should fire straight. You shouldn’t have to throw your camera into the floor to fire an arrow straight.
This is a awful way to have to use a skill.
Reminds me of the good old days of CS where most still were aiming on the ground because they are accustomed to it from UT/Quake using a rocket launcher and just wanting the splash.
