Not a bad idea, but I still think that legendary weapons should be something that cannot be obtained by anyone. Maybe if you had to buy some tokens and stuff with laurels, and combine it all in the Mystic Forge.

I agree about specs, that would be nice, since original GW had similar system.
As for skills, I’m with you, and I would like to see more weapon skills someday in the future, or at least new slot skills. I know it’s kinda hard to balance all out, but we can wait for new skills.

As for the raids, I’m not really fan of instances, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a 10 people dungeon that’s harder than the rest. On the downside, that kind of dungeon could shift players from open world to instances, similar when the Fractals first opened.

This is why command such as /list would be useful, to see how many players are in a zone / game.

However, this could easily backfire since many would be depressed by the results and the fact that they are playing by themselves in a single zone.

I don’t like it, mostly because it blinks, so I sometimes forget that there’s an AoE. If it’s going to blink, it needs to be faster. Or simply add some stripes as a texture inside the AoE enemy fields and we’re good to go.

Or give us several options to choose from, that would be sweet.

Similar system to WvW ranks in PVE

Daily works fine, but it doesn’t have any “real” progress, and it won’t focus players to specific zones.

Sure, 5 events in Shiverpeaks is nice, and it “forces” people to do events in Shiverpeaks, but many zones such as Snowden Drifts remain empty, since the easiest and the cheapest way is to do the daily in the starting zones.

On the other hand, daily doesn’t have great rewards, sure, you can buy rare or exotic gear for 3 or 2 laurels, but for me at least, that’s not it.

With this system with could get for example a “crafting token” that gives you 5-50 (the max number could be changed in order not to make it too easy) T6 materials (or any other material that’s not T6) if you combine that “crafting token”, some Philosopher stones, some Karma item for example, and one T6 material that you want. In my opinion, this is a lot better system than grinding that 250 T6 materials in a single zone over and over, since you can go to other zones and still earn them without having to kill waves of same mobs over and over again.

If somebody needs more materials or he just wants to get them faster, there’s still good old grinding.

In addition, there could be a small chance for unique weapon / armor skins, or maybe transmutation stones. Of course, a certain titles would be nice at specific level ranks.

But that’s exactly the reason why they are part of the dailies: to encourage players to try out new things, off their usual path.

Dailies made me try out costume brawl and keg brawl for the first time, along with other things.

I think it’s a good system.

Honestly, I never tried Keg Brawl ( and I’m not planning to, I just want to finish my daily as soon as possible). And don’t you need some paid items to start a Costume Brawl? Nah… I’ll think I pass, same goes for Crab Toss.

I really don’t mind having those, some players would like to try new things, and that’s fine, but as for me, I would like to get 2 or more achievements in a single zone without any PvP activities and be done with it as soon as possible. I see no harm in adding more achievements, one or two tops, while making others “optional”. I know that devs are trying to make us try those activities, but I don’t find them that enjoyable, mainly because I don’t have time to win a Crab Toss, or I just don’t want to travel to Hoelbrak when I’m doing events around the world and focusing on leveling.

Similar system to WvW ranks in PVE

in Suggestions

Mentalhead.5721

Certain zones in the game are getting deserted, so I’ve come up with a solution that might bring some progression back to PVE once you hit level 80 and also bring some people into certain zones.

Once you hit level 80 you unlock a new feature that is similar to WvW ranks, and you get new ranks by doing events in certain zones. For example, you would be required to get 1000 points to advance to next level.

Now, in order to advance, you need to complete events, but you need to complete events in specific areas or zones in order to earn more points. Of course, the zone (or area) would change on daily basis.

So on a regular day you would earn points by completing events in Lornar’s Pass, Shiverpeak Mountains.

For example, completing any event in any zone in PVE (doesn’t have to be in Shiverpeak Mountains) would give you 0.5 points.

Completing event in any zone in Shiverpeak Mountains would give you 1 point per event.

Completing events in Lornar’s Pass would give you 2 points per event.

After achieving the rank in PVE, you would get a specific random reward such as T6 materials, rare or exotic gear, ectoplasm or even laurels, or some other tokens.

This will somewhat force people to move and play in specific zones on daily basis, and it will give “some” progression after level 80.

What do you think? Any suggestions?

TL;DR

Add ranks similar to WvW that will give rewards once you get a new rank, and ranks are earned by doing events in certain zones.

There’s no need for “instant LFG”, one click and “bam” you’re in the dungeon. It should work exactly the same like the one on gw2lfg, you have the name of the dungeon, and the player name, and you right click to whisper a player (or join to the party automatically if the leader allows it).

In addition, there could be a small option in this LFG that checks if there’s any active events near you, so you could easily create LFG, without typing the name of event.

Despite how awesome does this LFG tool sound, the problem remains with meta events. Players would be able to find meta events more easily, and we’ll see more zerging and a lot of more rare items on the trading post.

Grindiest MMO ever

Mentalhead.5721

I agree that there’s certain amount of grinding. For example if I need T6 materials, I have to go to lvl 80 zone, and kill everything since those materials are kinda rare. On the other hand, a nice addition was the laurel system, so I can now buy random materials for laurels. There’s also Mystic Forge, but in order to upgrade one tier of materials to another you need 250 or 50 materials of a certain type, and that feels grindy, and don’t get me started on getting ascended gear from the Forge.

Honestly, this is the only thing that I see as grinding, it would be a lot of better if you could buy those rare materials using karma or skillpoints. Sure, you would have to “grind” for them, but at least you can choose how you’re going to earn your skill points and karma, and almost whatever you do gives you karma and skillpoints, so I don’t see the problem.

Problem with the current meta event system and rewards is that zerg moves from one zone to another to get rare items. It sounds bit drastic, but maybe we should be limited to only one “bonus chest” with rare item per 24h. It doesn’t matter how many meta events you do, you’ll get just one guaranteed rare item for any meta event, instead of one guaranteed rare item from each meta event.

My guess is that bunch of people left the game, I know since I had a small guild with 80 people, and nowadays I’m the only person that logs on almost on daily basis.

Where did all the people go? What drove them away, did they quit or is it just me?

In my humble opinion, there’s a lot of difference in grinding karma, skillpoints, or laurels in any way you like, and eventually you’re going to get it just if you keep playing, instead of killing one type of enemy over and over in same zone for days.

As for the legendary, it kinda should be available only to truly devoted, but again, I would prefer any other system that doesn’t require grinding t6 materials.

I recently got my Sclerite Karka Shell, so I decided to try to upgrade it to ascended, but it takes a lot of grinding, which isn’t really fun. I don’t mind having to work for my gear, but grinding 250 T6 materials, 50 ectoplasms and such isn’t really fun.

So why don’t we use Karma, Skill points and Laurels in order to buy components? I would rather pay 50 Skill Points and 1 000 000 Karma to upgrade my back armor, or do anything with the Forge instead of grinding in the single zone to get upgrades.

This way, people aren’t forced to grind and kill one type of enemies over and over (sure, you can spend 5G or so to get materials from the TP, but that’s not the point). Instead, you can earn karma by doing events, doing your daily, earn skillpoints by doing that as well as laurels, so why not use them in the Forge? In my opinion, it’s a lot better than grinding one type of enemy in Orr or in Southsun until you get 250 T6 mats and 50 ectos. What do you think?

Plz put orr back to the way it was.

Orr needs a major overhaul, I was at Straits of Devastation last night, it’s really abandoned and depressing when you have to do these events by yourself. And yes, I was on a high population server.

It needs to be more “user friendly”, and it needs to require less teamwork (since really there is no people and team). Don’t get me wrong, it’s cool when we players have to fight and make changes in the world, or else we’ll get swarmed by Risen, but if there’s no players, it’s just depressing.

I have to make a small comparison to WoW, I was just looking akittens maps the other day and I was feeling like “wow, there are so many maps, so much variety”. And I know that maps in Guild Wars 2 are a lot bigger, but we could use more variety, or more maps.

However, the main problem with more maps is that we need more players, or else we’re going to have more half-dead maps like Harathi Hinterlands, Straits of Devastation and Southsun before the update.

It’s extremely depressing if you’re doing chain events in Straits of Devastation all by yourself, and I wouldn’t like to experience that again in any other zone. Perhaps a LFG tool could fix this, so players from other servers can come and “guest” on your server and help you out with an event.

How to make events more creative?

in Suggestions

Mentalhead.5721

For me, the most interesting part of the game were heart quests, and since I’m lvl 80, I can’t really do them anymore, and after a while events get a bit boring, so here you can write your ideas how to make them creative.

For example, we could have events that require us to defend certain point by using siege weapons, or some experimental weapons with special skills. We could have events that allow us to remotely control golems for testing purposes, or we could just have plain and boring events that require us to hack a console, repair something, take crate of supplies and bring it to the wall, and do the repairs ourselves, or simply motivate the workers, instead of just protecting them every single time. We could have a minigame of some sort while repairing, similar to Simon says, or something that requires to press the certain button at certain time. It sounds a lot better than pressing “F” and waiting for our character to interact with something.

It would add some diversity to the current events that require you to find something, or kill enemies.

In addition, we could have multiple ways to finish the events, just like with heart quests, so if you don’t want to test experimental weapons, you can just enter data to the console, or find some crystals that are needed for testing. Possibilities are endless.

Feel free to make your suggestions.

I’m really happy that we’re getting constant updates (twice a month so far), so the game never gets stale and boring. I haven’t finished secret of Southsun, and new patch has been announced. Amazing job, thank you for you devotion, and keeping the game fresh with constant patches.

I’m just wondering will this continue in the future (content updates twice a month) or will everything go back to its regular (one update per month) schedule? Personally, I enjoy constant updates (I know it takes a lot of hard work and development, and it’s not always easy to deliver), or in this case, two updates per month, because it really keeps us on our toes and it keeps the game fresh, and makes us coming back for more.

So the patch is finally here, so how are you feeling about Southsun?

To be honest, Southsun still feels same to me, sure I might be in overflow, but for me it still kinda lacks events and creativity. My predictions is that Southsun is going to become a rugged rock that it was before the patch, especially if we don’t see any permanent changes.

I just spent two hours in Southsun, and it feels a bit depressive to me, it feels like a “little Orr”, rugged, gloomy, filled with mostly OP karkas. Don’t get me wrong, I love those veterans, I love their roll that can easily knock you down, but there are too many of them, and just running from one point of another and evading all the time isn’t that fun.

Anyhow, what do you think about Southsun and do you think it has a bright future or it will turn into a lifeless rock once again?
