World XP in PVE after level 80?

This is a good idea OP- I don’t care for Magic find at all and my characters are all allergic to it but I would love it if we could earn cool cosmetics stuff like dyes, skins and even recipes.

That’s what endgame should be all about. Since we can’t earn tiers of new gear to show off to others, why not titles and weapon / armor skins? I’m glad you like it

It’s not a solid or great idea, but it’s some form of progression. Thanks for your feedback.

True Progression - Skill Variants

@Mentalhead
Another Weapon Skill slot would be nice, but I’d rather have yet another idea I presented – more weapon skills per weapon/profession, and the ability to customize weapon slots like we do utility/elite slots.

I’ve presented this idea in my Expansion Concepts thread (check my signature).

As for me, I would like to see more weapon skills and more slot skills, but the main problem is balance. I would like if we could unlock them with skillpoints or simply by using a weapon, so that high level players wouldn’t have advantage over low level players in WvW.

Event tickets for exotic gear?

in Suggestions

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

tl;dr Completing events in various areas (Kryta, Ascalon, Orr) gives you event tickets that you exchange to get exotic gear from vendors or T6 (or maybe even lower tier) materials.

I recently found out that Ancient Karka Shell costs whopping 1000 shells, and while I think that there’s nothing wrong with having to work for your gear, I have to wonder why are we forced to grind enemies for it? Seriously, I have hard time grinding 250 Karka for shells, and I don’t even plan to grind 1000 Karka Veterans.

So, here’s an idea. Why wouldn’t we get an item that goes straight to our bank called “event ticket”? You could earn various tickets such as Ascalon Ticket, Orr Ticket, Krytan Ticket, and trade those for exotic gear. It would be a lot better than having to grind 1000 enemies in a single zone, since you can go through other zones and still earn enough Tickets to buy the best gear in game without being forced to grind.

Karma system works nice, but this could be a somewhat decent alternative, and a great improvement over Karka grinding.

In addition to gear, you could also use tickets in the Forge to get some T6 materials. In my opinion, it’s a lot better than grinding one type of enemy over and over.

Any thoughts?

Group Events in Southsun feel tedious a bit

in Last Stand at Southsun

Mentalhead.5721

It’s not the laziness that I mind, but the lack of other events to do. Let’s face it, people want to kill Queen Karka, so they keep running back and forth as soon as one of the camps gets contested, and after a while it gets repetitive. You can even predict which camp will fall next if you just look at the pattern.

I agree that there’s a sense of urgency, but after people leave the Southsun, we’ll be stuck on the east part of the island, since we can’t get enough people to do the group event in the middle point that blocks the path.

I had high hopes for Southsun, and it was great when there were riots, and animals attacking camps, there was diversity and I enjoyed it, despite those farmable instigators, but now, it’s just four events (camps) over and over.

They have managed to make Southsun dull and boring like it was before the patch, with an addition of new world boss.

or remove magic find at all and make it vailable only in this way, permanent and even large scale like 1-2% mf every level gained on top of wht is alrady provided (skill point).
we can comfortably say that this would hurt noone, and would mitigate the immense pool of unluckyness of those complaining about it while making you more likely to drop somthing more than vendor, the more you play the game.
this would provide a secondary progression, an increase of rare drops, an increase of precursors drop, a win win for everybody.
good idea op.

Hm…that’s not a bad idea, but gaining magic find at lvl 80 feels kinda late, wouldn’t you say?

They once said they’re not doing this because people simply don’t care about notifications. The temporary ban is the first warning.

I don’t know, but If I got an email warning, or mail in game saying that next time if someone reports me for swearing I’ll get banned for 72h I would seriously take that warning, but that’s just me I guess.

Mentalhead.5721

It seems to me that all the events in Southsun are related to Karka queen, and if you tend to be alone in this zone, you won’t be able to do any events or travel since the middle point gets taken over by Karka so often.

All these camps keep getting attacked over and over, and it feels like the zerg is moving and freeing one camp after another, and eventually this will get boring to players.

After people have left the Southsun, single group of 3 or 4 players won’t be able to do a thing on their own, and Southsun will start to look more like Straits of Devastation with contested waypoints and no players.

Why can’t we have some old events back that could be done on our own, or something similar that doesn’t require us to run with a zerg back and forth just so we could get Karka queen? Or better yet, make those Karka less aggressive, since there’s not a minute that one of the camps remains unattacked.

We need more events in Southsun, and we had those diversity before June 5th update, although those instigators were kinda repetitive.

I think it’s silly if somebody reports you for swearing, unless you’re acting like an idiot or insulting other players, and even then you should be notified by the system that this is your first offense, and if you repeat it you’ll get banned temporarily.

I wouldn’t like to see people throwing f-bombs in the main channel all the time, but if you feel offended, there’s a filter. I haven’t seen much swearing on the main channel, only in few parties after we got wiped in a dungeon, so, I don’t see the problem.

We already have sigils that give us +X% against certain enemies, and eventually someone could easily max out the damage output by investing points, thus making game a bit easier. Sure, it might feel like your character is progressing by becoming stronger but I’m just not for permanent damage boost.

As for me, I wouldn’t mind seeing +15% damage against Grawl (as you progress) or any other enemy, as long as it’s temporary. In addition, you could also invest points in order to make those bonuses last longer.

Or in order not to make the game too easy, each point can give 0.25% against certain types of enemies in order not to give you too big advantage.

Hero XP, that sounds a lot better than World XP, that’s a great suggestion, thanks.

As for the abilities, those small advantages would be great, if they are temporary for example 10 in game hours or so.

Or as Vayne said, a small buffs to magic find, gold, karma boost or such, or chance to get more materials from certain types of enemies for certain period of time would be enough and it wouldn’t make PVE any easier that it is.

tl;dr: World XP in PVE that is earned by completing events in certain zones / areas (once you hit lvl 80), but you could also earn points (a bit less though) by doing events in any other zone.
Target zone or area would change on daily basis, and this system should bring back some players to other almost abandoned zones.

World XP in WvW adds some form of progression, and I think that we should have similar system in PVE as well.

This system would activate once you hit level 80, and it would work similar to World XP in WvW, but you’ll earn points by completing events in certain zones, and those zones will change on daily basis.

For example your daily World XP task would be to complete events in Kryta / Southsun Cove, for example.

By doing events in Southsun, you would gain more World XP points, but if you don’t want to stand entire day in Southsun, you could also earn points by doing events anywhere in the Kryta or any other zone.

For example:

One event in Southsun: 2 points.
One events in Kryta: 1 point.
One event outside of Kryta: 0.75 points.

I think this would be a good idea since it would “force” players to do events in certain zones that have been abandoned for some time. Of course, if you don’t want to do events in Southsun or Kryta, you can still do events anywhere in the world and still progress.

As for reward, we could get titles at specific levels, some rares or exotics, T6 materials, transmutation stones, some weapon or armor skins.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Combat speed is the problem here, it slows you way too much, and it takes a lot to off time to get out of combat mode. It would be okay if combat slows you 25, 15% and you get your speed back as soon as you kill the opponent, or a two seconds later if you’re not fighting other enemies.

Teleport only when you have to, and you’ll save some money. If you want to get to the group event on the other side of the map but you’re in a hurry, use waypoints, in other cases, there’s no need, except if you want to travel to a distant zone.

As for the respect, I kinda agree with you. It’s kinda lame that you have to run back to the NPC and change it. Instead, why not have reset traits like in PvP? Simple and easy. Sure, paying for respect is also a downer, but this game needs money sinks, so it’s okay I guess.

Don’t get me wrong, I like that we can get exotics in this zone, but grinding Karka to get it just isn’t the way to do it.

It would be if the armor was worth buying. Too bad it’s not.

I don’t know, I’m still against grinding one type of enemy to get one type of materials to exchange for armor. Feels bit limiting and grindy to me.

Karka Shells are easy to get. The problem is the 2 gold.

I don’t know, grinding Karka in one zone feels a bit tedious for me. As for the gold, it could be hard to get, but you can get it anyway you like, doing dungeons, WvW, events, anyway you like whereas you have to stay in single zone and kill one type of enemy for Karka Shells.

I agree with you mojowalker, dungeon armor looks unique, and its good if you want to show off, it gives you some sort of accomplishment after doing the dungeon over and over.

As for the “regular” looking armor, there should be other, more common ways of getting it.

Personally, I think that game is getting a bit out of hand with the currency (I don’t mind it, but it might be hard for new players to get the hang of it), but some other “depositable” item would be a lot better alternative in my opinion.

For example, this item could be earned by doing events in Kryta, so you can earn your regular looking gear anyway you want, without being forced to grind Karka in Southsun.

I agree with you, since it takes 12 gold and 420 Karka Veterans to get full exotic set. They should have used some other solution instead of gold + shells.

Valid point, but why not add multiple options? For me grinding events for tokens or some other item isn’t that bad (since I’m going to be doing events while I’m there) instead of focusing on one type of opponent.

I had no problem with Orr, it felt rewarding especially after freeing the temple. I do dailies almost every day anywhere in the game work, I get karma from events wherever I go, so for me at least, it feels less limiting.

If somebody wants to kill 420 Veteran Karka for full exotic armor, that their choice, but I would rather complete 300 events in Kryta and give my skill points and Karma (that I get on daily basis) for full exotic armor.

Mentalhead.5721

It’s great that we can now get exotic gear in Southsun from merchant, but why does getting exotic gear have to include grinding?

It takes 70 shells and 2 gold to get one piece of exotic gear, so only way to get those is by grinding Karka. I got my exotics in Orr, used Karma, worked my daily and monthly to accumulate it, I just enjoyed the game at my own pace, and I got exotics easily, after a nice showdown with a temple boss. Nice, simple and easy, just by playing and enjoying the game.

Instead of grinding Karka for shells, why not use some other items, that you obtain by doing events in Southsun? It’s a lot better to obtain those by doing events at your own pace, and you’ll do them one way or another, instead of forcing you to grind Karka for shells.

Killing one type of enemy and grinding materials for our gear isn’t that fun, at least for me. What about you?

I agree, I would like to see unique skills for enemies as you progress, but regular dungeons could use a bit of unique skills as well instead of more power and hp for mobs. Still, this mode could add at least some sort of progression once you hit lvl 80.

Hm…haven’t really thought about that…
Maybe there should be a dungeon level next to your character in the party or something like that.

Or maybe it should work exactly the same as Fractals, the person entering the dungeon sets the level, if your level is same or lower, you earn next level.

However I’m not the fan of agony since it requires some time to get it, but maybe it’s necessary for progression. Constant damage over time seems like a “cheap shot” for me at least.

Additional Weapon Skills

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

I wouldn’t mind having tiers of weapon skills that are unlocked by getting a specific level, but the problem is balance. More skills mean it will be harder for devs to balance the classes. For example those new skills mustn’t be direct upgrade over the previous skill tier since low level players will have some disadvantage in WvW.

They are already at some disadvantage with their gear and lack of slot skills, and this could make them even weaker in WvW.

One way to fix this is to make the new tier of weapon skills unlockable by using skill points with constant price of 1 skill point per skill, or maybe even 1 skill point for entire tier of skills.
