For me it’s kinda silly that you have to use carrot and stick to lead the players from one zone to another, and yes, I’m talking about chest rewards. I’m getting a bit tired from jumping from one meta event to another just to get some rare loot.

It would be better if you’re limited to only one bonus chest per 24h on a character, but there should be a small chance of getting bonus chest from a random events. That way people would stop farming bosses and hopefully they would focus on events.

I enjoy doing events, and I don’t care that much about the loot, although I’m happy if I get yellow item as a random drop from a mob.

As a new player with a lvl 12 warrior – Not seeing anyone or any chat is depressing. But the thing I HATE is there is content I will never get to do because there isn’t even 2 people to help me. I played when the game first came out and got a toon to 25 and loved every second because there was a ton of people around. But RL dragged me away. I will keep playing but only because of the environment. GW 2 has the best world environment of any mmo and prob any video game I have played. Just a shame there is alot of it I will never be able to do because no one is around to help.

Same here, it’s so quiet sometimes, it gets kinda sad. If you’re lucky, someone might inform you if there’s an event going around. Maybe a global channel could fix this, but I fear that addition of global channel would just increase world bosses spam, and LFG spam

For me, heart quests were a blast, and some of them were rather creative and nice change of pace from killing enemies and waiting for bars to drop to zero. So, here’s an idea, why not make events more like heart quests?

For example, we could have events that allow us to disguise and sabotage something instead of just blindly charging into battle, or events that require us to use other (unique) items, or even simple events that which we need to motivate the workers or event help them out to rebuild something (instead of just defending them from waves of enemies). For me, it’s a bit better than just running and killing or collecting in every single event. Add some diversity ANet, not every event needs to be about killing/defending/gathering, be creative, go wild.

As for the event pool, it’s obvious that if you spend enough time in a zone, you’re going to get tired from all those events that repeat themselves. So why not add an “event pool” that will contain 5-10+ different events (it doesn’t have to be anything epic). After certain amount of time (10-20 minutes) one of the events would be randomly picked from the “event pool” and added to the zone. After the event has been completed, the timer starts again. This could add at least some diversity and randomness to the current event system, and it doesn’t hurt to have more events in the game world.

Mid level zones are less populated, which is to be expected, but this A-Net’s fault to a degree. They should have been focusing on new content within these zones, but instead they release southsun cove, which makes no sense. Why focus on a living story & a new zone, when they could’ve been adding new dynamic events or meta-events to existing ones.

I somewhat agree with you, but I have to point out that Southsun is one of the worst zones since November, so I’m really hoping for a huge overhaul. I just hope we’ll see some content for the mid zones in the future.

I’ve levelled a few characters through there and I’ve never seen anyone do Gargantula (including myself). Never even tried it. There usually are a few people working on the big event chain through the camps though. And there is a big daily chest at the end of that.

Might just be your time zone.

And I agree there should be one or two more Asura gates around. The one to Fields of Ruin is nice to have.

I’d say that’s because Gargantula was bugged since launch, and as far as I know it still is. I tried it a couple of months ago, the dumb spider reset constantly just like it did when I first tried him not long after launch. You literally couldn’t kill it. I swore to never waste my time on it again.

I never had problems with Gargantula, it resets 2 or 3 times, and I always thought it was its own unique thing. To be honest, that’s the thing I like most about it, the fact that it has those “reset phases”.

Few days ago I visited Harathi Hinterlands, and it was kinda empty, I barely found one person to help me out with Gargantula event, so I have to wonder, are certain zones dying out?

I haven’t visited Harathi Hinterlands in a while, so I decided to go there to get my daily, and I was shocked to see it was empty, so I have to ask myself, where is everybody?

Are there any other “dead” zones in the game, and do you have any suggestions how to repopulate these zones again?

My opinion is that most zones that are secluded (not connected with 2 or more other zones), or located on far corner on the map end up being ignored by players. My guess is that people just don’t want to waste silver on waypoints, so maybe we should have some Asura gates that teleport us to those distant zones for free, like the gate in Fields of Ruin. In addition, more different events might bring back some spark to the zones (and I don’t mean Living Story events).

I know that ranger is designed to use ranged weapons, but sometimes it’s not that bad to have a bit of melee, so my question is:

Are there any plans to change the auto-attack on the 1H sword (yes I’m talking about the jumping kick that interrupts the movement and makes your character jump onto target)?

I think the fire ele is really close to where he needs to be. He just needs better scaling for larger groups and some melle deterant. He’s also has an event chain leading up to his spawn which has to be activated by a player, which I think is a much better idea then just starting the event on a timer.
Have a look at this video here, It’s how he USED to be before anet worked on him (and in BETA it was even worse!):

I agree with this video. Personal story is boring once you meet Trahearne, with little to no branching. It would be awesome if different Orders had some unique missions or maybe different role in taking down Zhaitan.

Also, lack of LFG is a bother, since sometimes it’s hard to find party for story dungeons, and I don’t even want to mention party for group events.

I also have to say that world bosses are too easy. I just did Fire Elemental and about 20 of us killed it with no problem. I just had to stand in one place and use my ranged attack, there’s really no challenge. If there are tons of people going after a world boss, give that boss a bit more toughness, some knockbacks, AoE attacks, summon minions (champion[s]). Make those bosses really challenging and make them scale to the number of players.

Custom Arenas April 30th

Mentalhead.5721

Here’s an idea, why not make them free for a “one term use”. For example, if I’m the “host” (I created the custom arena), the arena works as long as I’m in the game. This could be perfect for quick 2vs2 or 1vs1 matches, just a casual PvP players. I’m not really a PvP player, but sometimes I just want to have a quick duel with my friends, once in a while, and I think it’s kinda silly that you have to pay in order to set up a custom arena for a one time thing.

If you want your arena to last longer (be available even if the host has left the game), for week, a month or so, then feel free to use tokens and gems. This will be good for PvP-focused guilds.

If the number of Custom Arenas is the problem, you could always put a certain limit and a waiting queue for players that want to make a free arena, while the ones who have gems will be able to create arenas instantly. It might be a bit unfair to the people who don’t want to spend gems, since they have to wait, but it’s better than paying real money or gold, if you want to play just 3 PvP matches with your friends.

In the next update we’re going to help refugees move from LA to Southsun Cove, and we have to agree that Southsun Cove isn’t a hospitable place, so I really hope, and I can’t emphasize this enough, that ANet will expand the Southsun Cove with more landmass, since the zone is so tiny, and events and convert it into a good zone that players actually visit.

Since the Lost Shores I haven’t visited Southsun Cove once, I really don’t see the point to run around in a tiny zone doing same 7 events all over again, so I really hope that we’ll get more landmass, and tons of new events in the next update.

Basically your achievement would look like Krytan kills (Get 25 kills in Kyrta / Get 15 kills in Bloodtide Coast [or any other specific zone]).

Southsun Cove and refugees

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

Consortium already has plans to build homes for the refugees in the Southsun Cove, and while think that’s a great idea, I think that this zone should be expanded.

Currently, Southsun Cove is a hostile zone in a way, it’s accessible only via boat, so I really hope that developers will make it more friendly. What I mean by that is expanding the zone by adding more landmass, because, let’s face it, the island is tiny compared to other zones. There’s so much space in that zone, so we might get another island, or several islands.

Already, there is a path leading to Southsun Cove from Sparkfly Fen, so I really hope that more landmass and more events will be added in the future, because refugees need homes, and we, players need more landmass and space.

I would like to see Cantha in GW2, but it doesn’t have to be inspired by Asian countries.
For example, Kryta was inspired by Greece in the original GW, but over the past 250 years the culture has changed, and I really see no problem with that.

Cantha would be a great addition to the GW2, but with 250 years between the games, and with Elder Dragons on the loose, it could be that their culture has changed (or was destroyed and rebuilt) and it looks more “universal” now.

Your thoughts on new daily achievements?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

So, new achievements are here, some new ones were added, and now we have the ability to choose which achievements we want to do on daily basis.

Personally, I don’t like them because some of the achievements were removed such as Daily Kills, Daily Veteran Slayer, Daily Dodger, Daily Events or Daily Crafter. These are the things that you do in the game every day, you kill NPCs, do events, dodge, sometimes you even kill a veteran or a champion, so why are those not included anymore?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the ability to choose what you want to do for you daily, I love that there’s more diversity (and more will hopefully be added in the future), but I wish we could get some of those achievements back.

That’s just my opinion, what about you, where do you stand with new achievements?

As a lvl 80 with maxed out crafting and exotic gear I don’t see what I can do on lvl 80, so I made an alt. However, the question remains, what then? Personally, I don’t want to get 100% on entire map, so I was thinking about focusing on WvW or PvP, but I’m mostly a PvE kind of guy, and not a dungeon crawler. So I have to say that I feel bit bored.

Currently I’m trying to get my monthly and laurels for T6 materials, because I’m tired of grinding Orr and Frostgorge Sound, but after 20 days of doing this, it starts to feel like a chore. Maybe I’ll focus on PvP or WvW for a while, but still, I would like more progression in PvE.

New daily system is just too tedious sometimes. For example, Daily Healer was a bother as well as Daily Dodger. I hope that ANet will give us 10 different achievements every day, and that we have to complete 5/10 in order to get the daily achievement reward, so if we don’t want to rez people or dodge, craft or something else, there would enough alternative ways to get these achievements.

high-level nodes in low level areas

in Crafting

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

I agree with nodes that are appropriate for your level, but consider this. So far, there are two or three zones where you can find Orichalcum nodes, so roughly that about 7 ore you can get before the nodes reset at the moment.

If Orichalcum was available in every zone, eventually you would end up with a lot of more than 7 on daily basis.

Here’s my suggestion, if you’re going to able to get Orichalcum ore from any location in the game, devs should add max number of Orichalcum nodes equal to the current number of nods that you can mine in the current state.

I’m more interested in getting T6 crafting materials in all zones, Orichalcum and Ancient wood aren’t really a problem.

Dead Content

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

I agree with OP, I’m tired from grinding Orr and Frostgorge Sound for materials for past 3 months. Every day it’s the same, and I think since nodes and loot are instanced to your character, you should be able to farm these materials from any zone. As lvl 80, I’m limited to two zones in the game if I want to craft some gear, and that’s really not fun.

Only problem with this is that if you want to get low-level materials or items for some reason, for example, you have one crafting skill at 400 and other at 200, so you need both kind of materials.

This could be solved by choosing what kind of loot you need from Hero panel (for your level, equal to the level of your crafting skill, or equal to the current zone).

Gathering materials at max lvl

in Suggestions

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

Good point. As a lvl 80 I have no need for low level equipment or materials, unless I want to send them to my alt character, or craft some low level gear. It could work as a current drop system, you get gear that is appropriate for your level and gear that is equal to the zone in which you’re currently in.

Same thing could go for materials, if you want a higher rate of high level materials you can go to the appropriate zone, while in the low level zone you’ll get materials equal both to your crafting level and the level of the current zone.

A finer solution would be to toggle what level of items (materials) you need in the Options menu, or in Crafting section in Hero panel.

Gathering materials at max lvl

in Suggestions

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

So, I’m lvl 80 with 400 in leatherworking and huntsman, and for me at least, it seems very limiting having to collect these materials only in lvl 80 zones. Currently, I’m limited to two zones in the game, and I’m spending most of my time in those zones, because I’m forced to grind materials in them, so here’s my suggestion how to make gathering “less restrictive”.

Your loot is instanced as well as node around the world, right? Since that’s true, why can’t all enemies drop materials for your current crafting level? I really want to leave Orr and Frostgorge Sound and just run around the world, doing random events while gathering materials for my crafting level. As I said, nodes and loot are instanced, so if you’re going to grind them, why be restricted to just two zones in the game?

Players as mercenaries?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

If you didn’t have a party in GW1, you could always hire a mercenary, so why not bring back this mechanic, but allow players to become mercenaries.

I have a lvl 80, and when I’m grinding in lvl 60 zone for materials, it gets kinda lonely, and my guess is that other low-lvl or mid-lvl players are feeling the same, so why not add a system (that is similar to LFG system), that allows you to search for a group, for events, dungeons, farming parties and such, and if you join a group your performance such as dealt damage, healing and such could give you extra karma, silver and xp if you sign up as a mercenary.

I for once would be glad to help anyone in my current farming zone, and with a good reward, it might motivate hi-lvl players to come down to low-lvl or mid-lvl zones and play with others. Also, they could get a small buff, limited only to mercenaries that would give them a small chance to get best crafting materials from drops, despite the level of the enemy, or maybe a bit higher chance to get better gear while working as mercenaries.

I’m lvl 80 on my main, and it’s kinda boring to run dungeons, and do nothing at the moment, so why not add Bounties along with LFG tool?

For example, you’re in a starting zone, and you need to kill Shadow Behemoth, but you have only 3 people fighting it. Why not post a bounty on that event, and if people accept your “invite” they could come along and give you a hand earning a bit more XP, karma and silver. That way, lvl 80 or higher will be alerted about meta events, and they could come and help other players, thus brining more people to the low-level zones. You’ll be motivated to help others for a bit extra xp, karma or silver, perhaps a slight chance of rare loot or crafting materials, and low level players won’t have to play on their own in low populated zones.

Anyway, what’s your opinion?

Its easy to change skills in GW2, but what about skill/trait builds? It’s really a bother to run back to a trainer to unlearn your traits, so why not make the reset button available from the Hero panel?

I know, it’s more realistic to run back to a trainer and talk to him, but it’s tedious. I want to make my skill/trait builds and switch between them from Hero panel easily (with a fee if trains have been changed).

Also, why not make “presets” for dyes. For example, if I like a certain color scheme, why can’t I save it and switch back to it quickly with a single click? It would be useful.

In addition, Eyedropper tool, to identify the color and take its sample would be useful as well.
