I do love this improvement since it will free up a lot of bank space, but I have to say that I’m with those who don’t want to keep their currencies in a bundle.

Why not simply add something like the number of your Karma (or any other currency) and the number of that same currency in the wallet?

For example:

50 000 Karma / 500 000 Karma

Now when I spend Karma, I would spend my Karma on the left, and when my Karma reaches 0 I would take remaining Karma from the wallet. That way you can keep your currencies (kinda) separated, while giving you the ability to share them with alts at the same time.

How to bring players back to GW2?

I’m on high population EU sever, but I have to say that game feels bit empty, and my guess is that people are leaving for some reason.

So, are people quitting GW2 and why, and is there a way to get them back?
Also, is there a way to check number of active players in a zone / server, perhaps an API tool or something like that?

Are boss timers ruining the game?

Mentalhead.5721

I, personally, don’t use Boss timers. If a Dragon chest event happens to spawn while I am in the vicinity, I will join in, but otherwise, I just do whatever I happen to be doing in-game at the time. It’s not that accurate, to me, and I would rather have fun playing than wait around for a particular event. We all have our preferred playstyles, and that’s perfectly ok. =)

I also play that way, I just do events in the zone, and if I see that the boss has spawned, I go for the kill, but I don’t jump from one boss to another just to get the loot. First, bosses are too easy, so not a real challenge, second, I play mostly to have fun, I don’t mind getting rare once in a while, but just killing bosses to get rares is limiting to me.

That way you’re not “enjoying” the game (everyone has a different definition of enjoying the game), you’re just chasing rare loot.

I just don’t think that ANet designed GW2 so we could jump from one boss to another. They created this huge world with events, so why focus on those bosses?

Are boss timers ruining the game?

Mentalhead.5721

Let’s face it, there are players who just jump from one boss to another just to get the rare gear, therefore the zerg moves from one zone to another as soon as the boss spawns, thus leaving game world empty and abandoned.

Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with fighting bosses and rewards, but switching from one zone to another just to get few hits on the boss and rare loot isn’t that fun.

Therefore, in order to prevent boss grinding and switching from one zone to another to get the boss, maybe you should be limited to one guarantied bonus chest per day.

Any other suggestions are more than welcome.

That’s too drastic, but I think we could benefit from more PVE (non-WvW) achivements, so it could be something like 5/15. In addition, there could be more new achievements, such as discovering vistas (or visiting old ones), and getting points of interests, and visiting old ones.

Also, what happened to Combo Field achievement, I would like to see that back in the game, but only if you can use it with your own AoE skills.

ANet should add events that can be done solo or without a group or some bulletin LFG system so you can announce to all players in your region (EU or US) that you need a large group for a specific goal.

TL;DR – Multiplication device, costs 250 000 Karma or 10 Laurels, it creates up to 10 specific T6 materials.

I personally find grinding 250 of T6 materials extremely tedious for a certain weapon or recipe, so why not add a Multiplication device that costs about 250 000 Karma or 10+ Laurels?

Take this Multiplication device, along with one T6 material (or any other material used for crafting), few Philosopher stones and few Mystic coins, put it in the Mystic Forge and you’ll get up to 10 (or maybe more) T6 materials of the same type you put in the Mystic Forge with the Multiplication device.

For 250 T6 materials you would need 25 Multiplication devices in best case scenario , that’s 250 Laurels, 250 days of playing or a bit less if you’re calculating the monthly achievements as well. As for the Karma, that’s 6 250 000 Karma for 250 T6 materials.

Sure, this might seem grindy, but isn’t this a bit faster than just farming Orr for months?

This could only speed up the farming process since you can still farm or transmute materials if you wish so.

That’s my idea, I would like to have some feedback on this, and also feel free to suggest your ideas how to get materials a bit faster.

I don’t mind moa racing, except its price and rewards, since you’re mostly losing money, especially if you’re saving for mini, or earning just a bit if you win second place, so it’s a money sink in my opinion.

As for the fireworks, firing it 300 times might seem like a grind, but 300 isn’t that much, you can earn it in a day. I got it in few days without too much hassle, so I don’t see a problem.

It’s not like 1000 or 100 000 fireworks, although that could also be attainable but extremely grindy.

Why can’t we get those, or armor, by spending Karma, Skill Points, Laurels or Guild Commendations to get those? At least you can earn those by doing variety of activities instead of killing one type of enemy over and over, or farming one type of node.

Mentalhead.5721

I know that there are MMOs that require more grinding, but wasn’t the original idea of GW2 to reduce grinding as much as possible?

First we got those merchants in Southsun that sell stuff for Karka Shells, and a Ancient Karka Shell for 1K shells, and now, we got these wings that cost 100K candy.

Let’s look at some Mystic recipes, not including the Gifts, most of them require 250 T6 materials, and you know what that means, go to Orr, Southsun or Frostgore maybe and kill everything that moves, over and over again.

Why not use a system that will give us materials for Karma?

For example, we could have something called “Multiplicator” that creates 1-10 of certain materials in Mystic Forge, and you could buy this “Multiplicator” for 200K karma, or some laurels.

It will somewhat speed the grinding process, and instead of having to grind one type of enemies over and over, you can spend Karma to get them.

Sure, you might have to grind Karma then, but you can earn Karma anyway you like, daily, monthly, events, dungeons, and in my opinion it’s a lot better that standing in Orr or Southsun whole day and killing everything that moves.

Idea for Guild Wars 2 "Raiding"

Interesting idea, but I personally don’t like anything the resembles fractals and agony resistance, although that’s the only way so far to make a raid and add some progression without tiers of gear.

On the other hand, rewarding a guild will mean that you’ll have to enter with your guild, and if you’re a member of a small guild, or in one that isn’t interested in raiding, you won’t be able to raid. On the other hand, using Ice Dragon’s Embrace Marks on a individual player will create similar problems as Agony resistance when it comes to finding players with enough resistance.

Why are people strongly against raids?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mentalhead.5721

Mentalhead.5721

Raiding is something a group of people can do that requires coordination and structure.
I think Guild Missions is a great concept as a replacement for the typical raid.
Not only does it provide variety other than the typical killing a bad kitten boss, its much more flexible since you can do it multiple times, and with no player limit.

That said, I think the current guild missions still need tweaking to provide more challenge to guilds.

Not that I mind guild missions, but I think that instanced content is better for storytelling in general. For example, if they made Guild Missions in a instance, similar to personal story they could add all sorts of other elements such as champions and even some backstory to the bosses.

Open concept of Guild Mission isn’t bad, but it doesn’t have that build up like instanced content, for me at least. It’s just hunt down and capture that boss ASAP.

It needs meaningful endgame. Whether it be raids or dungeons with rewards that are not just aesthetically pleasing but also have better stats. The gear ladder is what keeps people playing MMOs. Im sorry but thats the only way it works.

I disagree. I feel that any dungeons/raids with content that is difficult mechanically and is not doable by the entire GW2 populace via faceroll would be great. Aesthetic rewards that come only from said dungeon/raid would be all that a lot of players require.

I agree, aesthetic rewards would be great, such as skins or even titles. I personally wouldn’t mind weapon / armor sets with unique looks and maybe some unique runes. Nothing special or too powerful, but still nice looking and powerful.

Same goes for the open world PVE.

Why are people strongly against raids?

Mentalhead.5721

People aren’t against raids. People are against WoW style raids, which is the only type of raids most people have ever been exposed to (since games like Rift copied the raid style almost exactly).

The problem isn’t the raids themselves, but what they represent, which is the gearing up to get to them.

I seriously doubt anyone would hate a raid you could jump into. People hate raids because in almost every game, you have to gear up for them, usually requiring a lot of grind to experience the content.

Guild Wars 2 players, on the whole, prefer cosmetic grind, to required gear grind.

Thanks for the clarification.

When I think of raid (haven’t played WoW or any other MMO), the first thing that comes on my mind is something like Fractals but for 5-15 people. On the other hand, doesn’t Fractals use the same “gearing up” system for level 10 and above with Agony resistance infusions?

As for me, I wouldn’t mind seeing raids as long as you don’t earn tiers of new gear from it, but some unique skins, titles, T6 materials, or even unique armor or gear sets as a random drop ( such as Ogden’s armor for example) would be a nice reward.

Why are people strongly against raids?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’m just curious. In my opinion, world bosses should work as raids, but let’s face it, if you can kill it easily under five minutes, and it doesn’t offer any challenge like bosses in Fractals for example, then it’s not really such a “raid boss”.

On the other hand, raid bosses could have some really story and great buildup as you fight through his champions and minions.

So why are people against raids?
They don’t want GW2 to turn into another WoW clone?

Last Stand at Southsun: Feedback/Opinion

Mentalhead.5721

I have to say I kinda liked Canach mechanics, using his weapons against him, but it was too short. Null was better IMO, since it got gradually harder with turrets and sparks.

As for the Southsun, it was fun, ton of events, but those instigators got a bit boring after a while. After June 5th patch everything went downhill in my opinion, now there are group events everywhere and you can’t do anything on your own, and player Zerg keeps running back and forth freeing camps so that Queen Karka can spawn. It gets repetitive after a while, and as soon as players leave Southsun it will become ghost town just like before the patch.

Add more (some that don’t require a group) events, make those camps less easy to fall. West side of the map is low on events, except the Karka eggs thing, so why not add more events there? In general, more events, more diversity could make this zone better again.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind if you added settlers once again, I know it breaks the continuity of the story, but running between four camps and doing the same four group events over and over gets boring after a while.

Oh, and 1000 Karka shells for Ancient Karka, and all trade shells for exotic system is just a pure grind in my opinion, and it should for differently.

World XP in PVE after level 80?

Mentalhead.5721

I just want to point out that this idea doesn’t include any new currencies, it’s just a same progress bar like World XP, that gives you a bonus chest when you fill it up.

Regarding the progression, it’s achieved by gaining World XP levels and unlocking titles. In addition, there could be skins or even pieces of unique gear sets that can drop when hitting a “level”.

Personally, I wouldn’t like to see +150% Magic Find and +150% Gold Find or something like that as a permanent boon, because it gives a slight advantage (more money, better chance for rares and such).

I understand that people would like some sort of reward, and feel of progression, and temporary (12h boons) sound like a solution that wouldn’t give too much of advantage since it lasts for few hours.

Feel free to suggest your ideas for progression and rewards.

World XP in PVE after level 80?

Mentalhead.5721

Gaining levels after level 80 just earns skillpoints as far as I know, and those skillpoints just sit down and collect dust, unless you’re using them for Philosopher stones or something like that.

This a new system that won’t hurt anyone, it might bring back players into specific zones, (Orr for example) if they want to get Hero XP, or World XP as I called it at first, faster.

There is some sort of progression with new titles at specific levels, and chance for unique skins, or gear.

And with temporary buffs such as magic find, xp, gold and karma boost that last for few ingame hours this system should give some sort of progression after level 80.

As I said, it’s not a solid idea, but it gives some sort of progression after hitting max level.

There would be no new currencies, although I have similar thread that mentions event tickets that work on a similar way, you can check it here: Event Tickets

Event tickets for exotic gear?

in Suggestions

Mentalhead.5721

I know that you can easily get Exotics in Orr for Karma, and that’s a great non-grinding way, for me at least, and ascended gear for laurels is also great, although it takes some time, but the main reason for making this thread are those merchants in Southsun that sell exotic gear for 2g and 70 shells per piece.

I’ve been grinding so long for my 250 Karka shells, and it’s getting really tedious after a while, so I’m just throwing some alternative ways besides Karma to buy exotic gear. Let’s face it, Southsun is more friendly and accessible than Orr, but still the Karka grinding process takes out the fun out of it.

I really don’t mind that it takes time and effort to get your gear, but killing one type of enemy over and over, just isn’t fun, so this “event ticket” system could give us at least some diversity to earn exotic gear? Don’t want to grind Karka in Soutsun, do events in Queensdale or anywhere you like.

Play the game at your own pace, anyway you like and still earn your gear without grinding.
