yeah-yeah, bristleback is really op in terms of burst, ok, you guys are only trying to be fair, right. But for some reason I don’t remember any of you complainig about the late underperforming pre-HoT power rangers with ignorable pets. So now you deserve it, bitshes!
Well, actually, despite the fact that there’s a small cast time (1/4s with a little aftercast), this is still a stunbreak, which functions quite properly; meaning you can still use it while being CC’d.
Where did this happen?
This evidently happened in WvW. Shouldn’t even be taken in serious consideration…
I assumed that, but you never know.
Most QQ posts come in and give as little information as possible and this one was no exception.
You didn’t think there would be a player named “Tarnished Coast Silver Veteran”, did you?

True Shot. (longbow) CD increased to 6s. Increased oportunity cost. You don’t even need to stow weapon to bait dodges with a 4s CD, too rewarding of a skill.
I would agree even to 8s CD, if they reduce the cast time to at least 3/4 sec. It’s way too dodgeable/blockable/reflectable, you know.
then it should have better tell – most of the time i can’t even see it at all in all the shiny aoe crap (especially from dh traps)
dude, dragonhunter completely stops for a second and goes down on his knee, what more of a tell do you need? I mean, one of the few reasons to cease movement in the whole guild wars 2 pvp is to cast a “True Shot”
it is all fine in 1v1 situation, except pvp is about team play and it is not THAT easy to see what he does in the aoe spam… i am not even going to mention trapper rune~
you want cast time reduction which would leave target even less time to see and react to spell
If dh attack you from stealth (trapper runes) it wouldn’t make much of a difference between 3/4s or 1s cast time, right? And in team fight – if you don’t see the attacker “in the aoe spam” – you would probably get hit twice by true shot in that 8s (actually 10s) span with the current 4s cooldown. I just wanted to say that it’s only fair to reduce the cast time with the CD’s increase, which would possibly make it a wee bit more effective in 1v1 and less spammable while freecasting.

still no move speed trait and a metric ton of useless or wrongly placed ones.
Yep, I would gladly give up “Defender’s Dogma” for something like inc chill, imob, cripple duration reduction or 25% movement speed increase
I love hammer on my Guardian. I use it in my DH build which is all I play. The CC and #5 is amazing when you trap em in and lay traps.
So It could be another weapon ! which one do you think could/should be rework on guardian? =) (that’s the point of my topic)
Yeah, man, if you ask… I think 1h sword could be reworked a little ;P So the “Sword Wave” (autoattack chain 3 skill) wouldn’t be a projectile, which is really painfull in this “projectile hate” era; and also make “Zealot’s Defense” (sword skill 3) something more of the scrapper’s block skill 4 on hammer, mb not that damaging tho. It would also help if they just reduced tempest’s reflecting auras duration from 5 to, let’s say, 3 sec – that was a bit offtopic, sorry.
Oh yeah, can we also nerf 5 sec aoe reflect aura spam? I mean, when on DH, I don’t mind rotating from tempests, but it seems like they don’t mind rotating after me either.

Still playing zerker power ranger ;D Feels good…when people ignore you..
Hotjoin – Zerg or be Zerged
Unranked – I would be a liability to my team
Well, recogniizing that you “would be a liability” is like already a half way, in my opinion, it’s really good
So just go play unranked and try to be useful to your team as you can, that’s the way to get better..
why not just move Head Butt to physical skills category and call it a day?
What do you people think about making knockback skills and pulls hit downed foes like launches do? Since many classes don’t have a launch.
Well I think it wouldn’t be much of a logic from the physiological point of view in most cases.
I have to admit, I think you’re right to doubt Anet on ever removing the downed state from spvp.
Why should they remove it, dude? I think you must have a point there but still downstate is a great and unique mechanic and many people love it. And why’s that even fair to be able to take on a 1v2 in a 5v5 conquest match, where players grouped up – more or less – in accordance with their skill and experience level?
Just adding this to my list of reason to move on to Blade & Soul or Black Desert before long.
Yes, it looks like you just picked the wrong game for you. You should try that notorious Korean game that exists for more than 10 years already and that I actually still enjoy playing sometimes, where you cannot make a good fraps vid without winning a 1v3 or a 2v5 on a regular daily gang basis somewhere on a farm spot.
Btw are you experienced problem when was stomping a revenant?
I actually have this issue only when stomping a revenant, playing one myself, too.
Yeah, an immediate stability stomp sometimes fails for no reason.
Just disable down state all together, worst part of the game by far. In PvP.
Why’s that? Many people find it awesome. I actually find it one of the best parts of the game.
(edited by Miles Smiles.8951)
Thief is one of the few classes that can’t win button-mashing lol.
Well, I’d say the only class that could win by button mashing was a dd ele.
Well, actually two controllable pet skills would be much more awesome ^^
Also, it would create some ungodly combinations that would have the PvP community in tears.
Like what? Easy access to aoe swiftness for rangers? On demand knockdowns and knockbacks? Even tail swipe and poison fields? Tell me your secrets in PM pls
Why would you roll a ranger if you didn’t want pets, if they removed pets we might as well be called marksmen, or rogue.
No reason for changing the name at all, many Ranger tropes have no pets at all, some don’t even have bows.
we might have some on-target pet summoning f1-f4 skills with different effects, why not?
Why does thief initiative system suck and punish us if we miss a CnD?
I believe that almost everyone else would give up their cooldown system for your initiative
Now after the expansion, the burst and CC has increased a lot, so HP has become even more needed (since the CC prevents you to use many of your defensive cooldown). Now D/D ele does not have time to rotate its attunements properly
Why should they be able to survive hard CC? Because someone has got quite used to that?) After all, maybe even DD eles wouldn’t get on the contested point so fearlessly
- Porcine pets can now fly.
Those “Pigs on the Wings” would be really cool tho
-Pet management has been improved (players now able to control all of the pets’ active abilities) and pet AI reworked
or
-Core ranger class mechanic has been reworked: players are no longer forced to use pets, relying on an imperfect AI. Now f1-f5 abilities have been swapped to new mechanic druidic nature powers or beastmaster skills (e.g. summon flock of ravens, bee swarm, wolf pack etc.) which reguire a target to be selected.
-“Rapid Fire” (longbow 2 skill) has been swapped to a “True Shot-like” skill =)
-“Hunter’s Call” (warhorn 4) has a blind effect on the first impact. The skill mechanic has been improved, so that it can’t be fully evaded or blocked by a single dodge/aegis stuck on the first impact, making it similar to the “unrelenting assault” mechanic
-“Troll Unguent”: cast time has been reduced; now it’s 3/4 sec instead of 1 sec. The initial heal power is now doubled, while the power of every consecutive heal tick is reduced by 5%
Maw can be stun broken out of and stability prevents the barrier from holding you.
So the “Maw” works just like the hammer skill 5 (“ring of warding” or whatsit), right? And I couldnt stunbreak out of that “Maw” via “Lightning Reflexes”, that’s for sure.
Ski cask, if you Stab you can dodge out of it. And if you dodge through say when you see the DH use the skill through the animation.
You mean stabbing through Dragon’s Maw like you stab through the Entagle’s roots? It works like that??
Look, a couple of you keep saying that a DH can’t “one-shot” a high toughness target, but my ranger runs rabid and has pretty high protection uptime and yet this thing can 100-1 me before I get a chance to react. Its happened several times and I have seen it done to other players as well. If I was running something with no toughness I could understand it.
Try runnig the “Signet of Stone” and pop it up if you get caught in them evil DH traps
Every class can if they use EVERYTHING at their disposal on one target, and not a single attack is evaded/negated.
Yeah, given some time (kappa)
Haha another one caught in a trap
too bad you don’t have dodge or stability
You can’t dodge out of it, I believe. Can’t even stun-break (e.g. “Lightning Reflexes”, tho I’m not sure if it’s possible to blink out of it)
And last time: I do not want a caster/druid, or be dependent to a idiotic AI. If I wanted one, I would play a caster class. What I wanted to play was an “ARCHER” which uses a longbow. Not sword, not staff, not axe. Bloody friggin longbow. Which attacks with arrows. Not pets, not celestial astral cosmic puking of magic. Just bows. Long ones. Which are called longbows.
Lol, that reminded me of the dialogue from a Guy Ritchie movie:
Gary: Shotguns? What, like guns that fire shot?
Barry the Baptist: Oh, you must be the brains of the operation. Yes, guns that fire shot.
i forget something?
yeah, pets
Don’t understand why they removed Ogre, Lich and Pirate, why did they not remove them 3 years ago.
Probably because of the buff to pets.
Doesn’t affect PvP.
I think it does when it comes to traps and stuff like that
It doesn’t affect anything in PvP and if it does it would be a bug.
fair enough tho

At least my pet won’t die when I trigger DH traps with it
Ranger useful, please nerf!
doesn’t have much to do with ranger tho, tis all about druid, don’t confuse things, bro
Good job, dude, but still what is that dps difference between owl, white and black ravens about? If any, it should be in favour of ravens due to the slightly lower CD on F2 ability, I think. May be 10x tests aren’t really enough…
And I’m about to look for another game to play now or just having a break, cause basically I play archers in every MMO and I like that kind of agile light-armoured ranger bowman game style and design (like many other players and fantasy junkies do, I wager); but now it feels completely ruined and unviable from my point of view, and Dragonhunter sadly isn’t an option here. So yeah, I, for one, think I can understand what you’re feeling, if understanding was the purpose of your topic
ranger should stay selfish and useless in teamplay terms, I believe ;D
We are rangers man. You know…
yep, that’s a heavy burden, a cross we bear…
People are sheep. That’s why. Most people are too afraid to think for themselves and just assume that because someone who they think is more skilled than them said blank it MUST be true… people use these things without fully understanding why. They just assume it’s the best thing to do because it never occurs to them that they can think for themselves… you rarely get that kind of pat on the back.
Curious how the ideas of your post remind me so much of Pink Floyd’s “Animals”. If you really were, at some point of your life, inspired by the above said album, do you prefer to be a dog rather than a sheep?xD
So I guess I’m not the only corn fed idiot not buying the expansion until they make the core ranger a bit viable?
Look at this build. It’s miles better than Herald and Ventari.
wow, what kind of person would like that game style?
I always found the bird swooping animation to make them hit less? Was that changed? I use the lynx right now. Good crits and bleeds.
F2’s are also so kitten unreliable… spam them 6 times to get them to work. the low cooldown on the hawk sounds good in theory but it rarely lands in my experience.
They don’t even need to hit to apply the blind/weakeness/taunt though, plus its so spammable, if it misses the actual attack, its up again 5s later.
They actually do need to hit to apply weakness, I believe.
-Oct. 14: stuck with an ele and enemy team necro on Khylo
-Same day 10min later: jeez, that necro is weird, gives me the creeps. he’s drawing some circles or pentagrams and stuff on the ground.
-15min later: those boyz driving me crazy; bloody elementalist won’t stop muttering strange things ‘bout some melandru or whatsit
-20min later: feel hungry, me pet looks so…juicy
-30min later: with the help of ele’s ring of fire or whatever we made a bonfire and coocked my wolf. feels tasty. necro won’t eat, says he prefers dead crows, psychoyou’re humour is the only thing that keeps me from weeping right now :’)
don’t lose you heart and gird your loins, good sir!

Is it just me or the trait is still quite buggy? I mean it doesn’t always implement when the fighting ends but you’re still in combat, you swap your pets, they go on cooldown but you don’t cast “Call of the Wild” (the trait icon remains, so it’s still available). Whereas if you swap weapons shortly after that the on-swap weapon sigils will still proc. Any thoughts?
Delete vamp, problem solved, it’s noskill casualmode.
Like bursting people down (esp from stealth) or being bursted without a chance to retreat takes much skill
Here is a better argument, learn how not to get bursted. Get on a thief, learn how to properly escape certain death.
Right, on a teef… But if I choose to play something else, then in order to learn how to avoid the burst I should still “get on a teef”?

they’re fixed. so why don’t you keep your likings to yourself? (no offence)
Why didn’t you say nothing about Lineage2 (NCSoft game). There’s also reveal by AoE damage or by dots like bleed etc (if you apply them before enemy enter stealth)
I suggest for you to see the video interview about the Druid, where its specifically stated that your “pro” meta no longer holds true moving forwards, and ANet is quite intentionally showcasing the Druid to that effect. Keep using that for older content, but for “high pressure” content it will no longer be the “most efficient”-you will probably complete things faster/more efficiently with a mix of gear stats on your team, even if the majority of the ten players runs “zerk” or other DPS oriented, squishy, non-healing/defensive stats set.
That’s all fine, but why ranger!?)) That’s not even much of a lore) Why didn’t they make any other class a pure healer? As if core rangers were completely fine and meta for a long time pre-expansion.
