Bone Minion summon complaint

I just had a quick complaint about bone minions, I know arena net said they are tweaking certain aspects of ranger and necro pets… I was wondering if you guys could look at the bone minion raising animation? It takes about 2 seconds to cast the bone minions and then it takes about 2 seconds for the bone minions to actually start moving making them lag behind me. Just run and cast bone minions and watch the minions as they spawn out of the ground… it takes forever for them to become active…. same goes with wurm, except he does this huge squirm animation instead before locking onto a target

Once again for 3rd time in a row Pentient is completely bugged on the rebuilding fort phase. Revive Technician Otto is bugged no one can get to him. Players are abusing the hell out of it each time and it stops CS from functioning properly in other areas please fix! Im starting to think pentient is intentionally bugged by players because it buggede once for a couple days, then a reset hit and it was bugged again within minutes

Cursed Shore is completely bugged out on anvil rock, Pentient is stuck on fort building phase which is stopping all other events from happening. Anchorage pact quest is still bugged after more than 2 months, which means anvil rock hasnt had a High Wizard battle for more than 2 months. Please fix ASAP

Some ideas of mine, not really meant to be taken seriously but i hope it could give Anet some ideas…mostly dealing with minions

I wrote it kind of like patch notes…take with a grain of salt…or let me know what you think if you want,

Bone Minions are no longer a utility
Bone Minions: 10% Life force (15 second Cooldown)
Dmg: 159
Hit F2 to summon 2 Bone Minions to attack your target.

Putrid Explosion:
Explode 1 Bone Minion leaving a poison cloud behind.
Damage: 1,368
Bone Minion speed has been increased by 75%

New Utility: Deadly Swarm
Summon 4 Jagged Horrors to your side that rapidly attack your target, gain 1% life force per hit. Life force can be gained in Deathshroud. Gain protection when Jagged horros die.

Death Nova switched to Necrotic Nourishment: You gain 5% Life force when minions die.

Jagged horrors are now Minions.

Bone Fiend:
15% life force
Hit f3 to summon a bone fiend to attack your target

New Utility:
Shadows path
Teleport to the target location: 1,200 yds breaks stun

Shadow Fiend:
You may only summon shadow fiend in death shroud.
15% Life Force
Hit F3 to instantly summon a shadowfiend to attack your target. Shadow fiend spawns on your target. Shadow fiend now has a blind pulse AoE and has had its health and toughness increased.

Flesh wurm
30% Life force
Hit F4 to summon a flesh wurm to your side
Flesh wurm now has a burrowing animation and follows you out of combat or when further than 1200 yards
Burrow: Hit F3 to command your flesh wurm to burrow underground protecting it from damage.

New utility: Master’s Gate
Creates a Portal Gate at the target location with normal portal effects

Your point about not speccing for it is really weak. If you don’t build around any specific utility they lose their value. Except signets which are always bad. Minions just have a preset build if you want to use them effectively. However the same thing is true for DS builds, Condition builds, Well builds, and Staff builds. Every single style requires you to take a few key talents and then build around it. I am not sure how you can only see minions that way.


This isnt true, If you put all minions on your utilitys you must spec so you get the proper condition removal / heals and dmg that you lose if you were to choose other utilitys, you dont NEED to spec for wells to get those heals condi removal and dmg, you dont need to spec for bip to get 10 might stacks and in general this is the case for most of our utilitys except minions which require you to spec into them so they can give back what your losing from not chosing other utilitys…..idk thats just my opinion i guess

Minion builds became fairly popular in spvp for a short time a few weeks after release. They need to add bone fiend shadow fiend and Bone minions to F2 F3 F4 leave wurm as a utility and give us better utilities. Minions taking up utility slot is horrible design. Jagged horrors are terrible and only have 2 uses both of which require 30 points in either BM or DM. (Fetid Consumption and death nova). Overall the entire design is uninspiring and its a shame that 90% of NECROMANCERS dont even summon minions or the dead. They look terrible and most of the community agrees with this.

Absolutely not, adding the F buttons is ridiculous, and we have countered that point numerous times in the past giving examples as to how it can be abused and how bad that idea would be to be implemented. Please stop trying to encourage a badly thought out idea.

@Bellamy, the main issue a majority of the community has with minions is the misperception that they are pets. They are utilities designed to do damage and die. Once you change your outlook you realize how strong they can be. In fact, there are more and more players moving to minion builds as a better perception of them is learned.

Next week, bhawb is going to come out with an instructional video on minion ai. In our recent podcast with Talentless, he actually gave one of the best reasons as to why he doesn’t take minions. However most of the community is slowly coming around to the build as they put more time into trying it out.

How exactly can you abuse minions on f buttons? Is it because you gain more options? Most people agree that necros need better utilitys, so freeing some slots up how is that a bad thing? Minions are strong in spvp and possibly tpvp (which is why the build got popular early on..idk if you guys recall when they were actually popular, I’ve done 4 second blow up specs with wos, BM , golem + daggers made a video of it and got flamed for it) havent done both in a while but imo everywhere else they are garbage. There is always a better utility to use. Why cant I a necromancer not use my minions unless im built for it? Lame design .I agree that there are good builds out there with minions i just dont want to be pigeonholed into one just to use my minions on a kitten necromancer…..again lame design.

The event is stuck at the “The pact are preparing to establish a forward base.” phase….

Anchorage has been contested for 2 1/2 weeks now Grenth is almost impossible to do when a large amount of people are present due to the run from meddlers…we havent seen high wizard king in 2 weeks either…….Mass in game bug reports were filed but no results???! Don’t you guys monitor this type of stuff?

Yes but i guess the way i see it and the way i use it in pvp is if your running away from something but still have a target in front of you you can gain much distance from your original target and control the one you teleported to with a fear or immob.

Im mainly talking about pvp cuz general mob ai is rediculously easy to escape. Your numbers are wrong for each of those abilitys they are much stronger than you think. My lich crits for 3.6k – 4kconstantly. Dark Path is your death shroud ability that lets you teleport to a target

Tell me of one ability that necros have that can do burst damage and not steady damage
Does a necro have a single teleport, burst of speed ability? No. hey have a signet for 25% increased speed and a condition removal that the can use once. Unfortunately when you’re stunned or crippled, remove the condition, but are still close to the enemies that did it they do it again, so no, necros don’t have an escape ability.

Fears, Dark Path, Spectral Walk, My meta must be way ahead of anything your doing because i can escape pretty much anything with just these 3 options and i dont even use staff. 3 forms of chill staff DS and focus. I run around with foot in the grave so i have no problem with stuns or knock backs for the most part. Necros burst isnt in the form of just 1 ability, ghastly claws, life siphon and life transfer used together is tons of damage, maybe not comparable to true burst classes but the damage is there….add in bone minions and its some serious damage. Lich form can do crazy burst as well. Did i mention dark path? O and Dark pact is your friend.

The only thing wrong about necromancer are the minions, they are very much uninspired. I can build my necro to heal, i can build my necro to bunker, i can build my necro to buff my allies, I can build my necro to burst, I can build my necro to deal condi damage (although to many people do), I can build my necro to deal massive aoe damage. Go ahead buff necro I enjoy playing broken classes

IMO this game needs arenas, it needs something that will bring back the pvpers it once had….many that left dont dislike the class system and how it functions in pvp but dislike the game modes we were givien, also Arenas are much easier and entertaining to watch on stream

Hmm if it werent for the 97% win rate in tpvp when it was alive id say maybe im just bad but thats not the case, calling me bad in a group based content is rediculous. Not everyone has time to perfectly coordinate 20+ pugs, but i do and maybe i need to get better at coordinating balth but im deffinately not bad. I constantly coordinated melandru grenth and arah steps before it was nerfed, dwayna is a cake walk….but balth is slightly overtuned. Look for me Spirits Within on Anvil Rock i guarantee if you have been farming orr recently you have seen me gathering people

Yup of course thats the objective, dailys are a perfect way to get people to actually do the open world content. The majority of players need incentive to act or they just say it isnt worth it. Which is why there are so many no endgame content threads in a game that is pure content. Maybe reward players who complete lvl 80 dailys a blc key or a chance at legendary mats etc .

Lvl 80 Daily:
Champion hunt – Create a daily with either specific champions / bosses to kill or a large amount of random champions.

Meta completion: Complete 5/5 10/10 etc full meta events

Arah opening: Fight and kill arah meta event boss

Orr temple openings: Open all temples – server wide completion even for those who didnt participate

Dungeons: Complete all paths of any exp dungeon
Fractals: Complete 1/1

These are just a couple ideas i feel could end alot of complaints about not having stuff to do at. We really could use lvl 80 specific dailys.

The escort quests take long enough, and although you only need one of the reinforcements to start the escort towards the temple, the temple escort is hard enough to give up after 1 try. The amount of people needed to complete the actual fight is insane ive had around 20+ and still fail and its hard enough to gather people. I dont mind gathering people as i feel no one else makes an effort to do so but atleast make the fight a bit easier.

Also this build is meant to show how to maintain survivability without having to rely on Life Siphon which does not scale correctly. I actually find my power/Roamer to last longer and recover faster than my support wells builds. There is just no Rambo in Team so it’s impractical in tourny.

The trade here is Crit Chance and Damage for Healing and Vitality. But this build leaves you sitting on 21k health so Vitality is not essential. And with the additional toughness healing can be handled with Consume Conditions and/or escaping combat.

It’s highly active and extremely potent roamer. Short cooldowns (other than plague), and lots of weapon swapping for channeled skills.

also: Staff 4 can crit for 4k+ and transfer conditions AoE, So I wouldn’t really say Staff is hard to down people with. You just need to use the combo finisher and some synergy.

Your build confuses me a bit it has signet power with no signet…mistake? I promise you, if you may give it a try Valkyries will yield better survivability…..all it takes is coordinated stuns and burst to take you down with zerkers…its not a necro amulet. I don’t deny your success with this build……but im going to be completely honest I dont think there is much competition right now in Gw2 at least in NA…. pvp seems as dead as can be.

I personally dislike staff and find im skilled enough not to use it and still do well in tpvp.
You say u need to be able to kill which I find is actually much harder to finish people off when using a staff. I find that using both mh dag and axe is ideal for such roamers because the damage output with all 3 channels LS GC LT is unmatched. Staff imo is better on a support bunker build. Im presenting a self healing damage build that does sufficient damage and more than enough survivability. All other leeching builds ive seen are super squishberzerker amulet nonsence, valkyries offers a much better alternative

Just got done testing this build, and i have to say its the most fun I’ve had on necro in a long time. The amount of healing you get is incredible you can escape almost any situation with stability and spectral walk. The signet is pretty good and should be used as a precursor to consume conditions as the traits allow it to give you might thus increasing your healing. Knowing how to control your opponent is key with this build.

Very fun to run around spvp with enjoy!

30/15/25 – I used soldiers amulet in the beginning but figured out valkyries has more dmg out put at least 2k more on top crits because of the added 20% crit bonus as well as similar survivability due to the increase healing. Using blood is power thanks to your +healing with power will allow you to heal even more.

Here’s the link, I would appreciate those who end up using it to potentially support me by “following” my stream.

This spec made to win team fights fast.
This spec synergizes best with immobilize support
This spec beats any class 1v1 on a point, but can lose to many in a skirmish 1v1

I stress positioning as the primary factor to success. Be unseen, and nothing will survive more than 15 seconds.

This is the first time i’ve ever given out the rune set I use. Please respect that. We all know its unrealistic to think every build be viable. Please stop overreacting to other classes being more or less well rounded with more viable builds than necro. I promise you this spec outclasses every team fight dps build in the game. Most the top teams are using it now or a high cc dps teams i.e ranger, d/d ele.

If there is one thing to take from this thread its this…….I’ve used this build months back while experimenting with countless other builds, it is the most powerfull condi spec necros have. Although i used blood is power and epidemic as well as corruption traits and didnt use thief runes (amazing addition). I’ve recently lost interest and playing since all my friends quit but its nice to see necros are doing well

Bugged or not the option exists, the entire class is bugged maybe playing necromancer is a pointless exercise

Because it doesnt work with what im trying to do with the build, I’m trying to make an active DS play style that supports your team, condition removal + heal every 5 sec > 3sec stability every 10 imo (again only playstyle choice). Ever have that massive stack of bleed on you with no condi removal? Or unwilling to blow a cooldown to remove it? I have and going into DS fixes this problem, Get rooted? Go into DS although bleeds are prioritized if you get rooted without condi’s on you then this works wonders. Half our skills remove conditions? Look at the build…..I run well of blood which has 20% chance to remove condition on projectile, well of power and putrid mark is what i have to remove condition….what do i do when these are on CD? I can run off hand dagger but i prefer focus for this build. Lived without stability in every other build i can live without it with this one. As for the PvE build 5 sec DS allows for a quick and easy way to remove conditions that plague signet is giving you.

Don’t forget that I run Melandru which is -25% condi and stun duration.

Hi all,

Still seeing alot of negativity regarding the Necromancer class. I know the class has multiple bugs but until they get fixed we have to deal with them. Regardless I still believe Necromancer is one of the strongest most versatile class in the game. I always have a blast when playing Necro. Even if I have to dodge dip duck dive and dodge in PvE to accomplish what I just did by hitting 2 buttons on my guardian. There was a quote by Jon Peters that had alot of backlash from the community that stated:

John P. -
“No we arent ignoring Necro, but once people start mastering DS, I’m afraid of how strong Necro will be. Give it some time for the average player to learn these things.”

So I decided to make a build that focused on active DS gameplay and came up with the following:

PvE Active Death Shroud Healing / Condition Removal

  • This build requires you to pop in and out of Death Shroud every 5 seconds for a condition removal and 600+ heal to allies. It features Plague signet to actively remove conditions from allies as well as signet of undeath to provide you with sufficient life force / ranged reviving capability. Unfortunately I miss out on the 20% well cool down reduction so it takes a bit for well of power and blood to be ready for use but this is replaced by the heal / condition removal every 5 seconds. You also get the Life Transfer heals allies as well as reduced cooldown for every DS ability.

  • Pretty much the same as PvE except 10 more points in death magic instead of spite and well of darkness instead of plague signet as well as different traits for Soul Reaping.
    It requires good coordination and knowledge of cool downs, players need to know when to dodge, actively remove conditions, they need to know how to decide if going in and out of DS for cond. removal and healing is best for the situation. They need to know positioning and how to synergize abilitys to get the most out of them.

Ex: Well of blood heals for 600+ each tick lasting for 10 seconds in those 10 seconds you can enter/leave DS twice adding an extra 1200+ health to allies.

Not a 1v1 build.

And then you get stomped the moment Lich is on cooldown. I thought Anet designed elites to be tide turners, not build centerpieces this time round.

Actually if you use lich when you have full LF to do your burst then end it around 25-30%, heal up and jump into DS it can be quite devistating
