pretty much all “meta” dungeoniers normally want at least 1 warrior and 1 guardian in their group for about pretty much anything. On ascalonian catacombs people tend to demand elementalists as they can spawn ice bow. If you’re not going to be following the meta but rather just having some casual fun, go with what you believe will be fun to play for you. All the dungeons can be completed with any class combination

Hotw, I agree, not peoples favorite, but I tend to run CoE full daily. Mostly because if you do it the stacking way it’s braindead easy and quite fast, compared to dungeons like CM (unless you climb walls) and AC. Nothing faster out there than CoF P1 and P2 though.

Talking about having problems LFGing, ever tried getting the Aetherblade path on TA and successfully completing it?

I don’t mean that “slightly” reducing the effectiveness of stealth would break Thieves. I meant that removing it from the game kitten many of these mentally unstable people seem to want would most certainly break Thieves.

don’t insult people on the forums, please.

Pure invisibility is hard to balance and it really shows. As a thief some people see you non stop, because they were still channeling skills when you went stealthed and for other people it’s completely not fair because they have no way to catch you, block you, avoid you or unstealth you.

Out of all the games that even adopted the stealth mechanic, WoW did it best – if rogues are close enough to you, they’re see trough but visible.

But overall I would like to see the mechanic gone from gaming. It simply does not bode well with player versus player and it’s too hard to balance fairly. Heck even single player RPGs (Elder Scrolls) shied away from it, because it could make majority of the content moot and easy to pretty much cheat.

The game is as it is. They won’t change mechanics to do with the class and won’t realistically rebalance it well. But if they instead took mechanic out and replaced it with something else, PvP might be better off.

Also bare in mind that this is not the only mechanic in game that I take issue to and that I’m well aware that the game won’t get drastic changes. So I express my opinion here in a purely theorethical way. However I would like not to be called mentally unstable for it.

What does your post have to do with his or did you accidentally quote him by mistake?

well he implies that people will want more than one of the same type of legendary, I merely point out that people that do feel the need for that, instead of transmuting, will be in the minority, meaning that while his post encourages the stability of the precursor market, I point out that the amount of consumers will still fall considerably, meaning that it won’t be as stable.

But they are coming out with additional precursors which I would imagine be paired with additional legendaries for each weapon type.

which you will also be able to get trough collections. It’s not one precursor per weapon type, but one unique precursor per account.

Mirta.5029

But remember you can only get one precursor of each weapon type per account via collections. If you want another Greatsword, back to RNG drops and the MF.

majority use legendaries for their looks, not their stats, meaning that your average player will either juggle one weapon trough alts or will transmute the skin onto something not as legendary.

A very small percentage of people actually feel the need to have legendaries so that they could switch stats on the go and I don’t know how often these people actually alt.

So yes, it’s one per account per precursor, but that should more than satisfy the majority of the population

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mirta.5029

Guild size doesnt really matter imo.

If anything the actual guild size is how much people have logged in within the last 3 days.

Somebody logging in once a weak doesnt really contribute anything to a guild unless the guild has some sort of primetime when all log in.

that depends. We have such events as Teamspeak Fridays. People who join in once a week, twice a month, once a month even still contribute to the chatter, to the feel good attitude and to the overall happiness of the guild.

A game is not a prison. It shouldn’t be something you have to do. It has to be a place that you want to come back to and for that to happen guilds should really not care how often you do that. After all we all have lives

Poll: What is the size of your guild?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mirta.5029

Mirta.5029

that’s a funny way to measure sizes you know.

We have came back to Guild Wars 2 a month ago and currently according to this poll we would fall into the very large category (just over 50 people), with anywhere between 8 to 20 active every day (so our activity would be medium), even though we’re extremely casual and did not impose any activity rules.

I would really consider anything below 50 to be really small, 50 to 100 small, 100 to 200 as medium and 200+ large.

And then activity should be measured in % really kitten out of 5 people active is better than 5 out of 250 people active.

Everyone and their mom is a Warrior

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mirta.5029

  • Warriors have been nerfed multiple times already, but who among the pugs reads the patch notes?
  • Having more than 1 warrior in a party is actually suboptimal – but hey, go tell it to the pugs! I remember doing paths with 4 warriors and doing the same stuff with war-guard-ele-engi-ranger or something like that – the latter being far better when organised: engi for vulnerability and blasts, ele for might, ranger for frost spirit and spotter, guard for active defence, war for banners – everyone contributes, skills synergise and traits do not get overwritten.
  • It is hard to be a bad warrior. It is very easy to be a bad ragner or an engi. For pugs who follow the path of least resistance, it means war/guard/ele is the way to go.

So yes, while there is a certain imbalance in PvE (because the game is balanced around PvP, because E-SPORTS!), the problem is mostly in the ignorance and not balance.

heal warriors and invulnerability/stability warriors together with rangers are the problem of Spvp.

true action base combat

Mirta.5029

Wildstar doesn’t have action combat or it isn’t that much better than guild wars 2.

Unless they changed it, Wildstar combat is inferior to guild wars 2 automatically virtue of the way “white damage” works aka unavoidable damage. That doesn’t make it an action game, it simply makes it a slightly improve WOW combat system.

Well it’s all based on telegraphs and white damage plays no part in PvP. It’s a PVE only mechanic to enforce tanks.

Tab-targeting is optional is GW2. You can turn off the settings in options. It doesn’t matter if you have tab-targeting on either, because if they move, your hit will miss. In a true tab-target game, the skill will never miss, even if the player moves out of the way.

Even in WoW the character has to be in your field of vision for you not to miss. Same in Guild Wars 2. If you’re using an ice bow, skills 1,2,3,5 all work no matter where the character is as long as it’s in your field of vision. The same as in any tab targetting game.

And whether you switch it off or not doesn’t matter, because it’s in the game mechanics, meaning that your ride the lighting will still go towards the wrong way, because 2 minutes ago you were fighting a warrior on your left and not in front of you.

Most ppl in WS feel like they need A.D.D. to play it and Tera everyone plays as the “oddjob” races unless they want to get hit. It works but only just and tends to be very rooting when you do want to attk.

why would you need A.D.D. to play Wildstar? You know who your target is without the game telling you and the combat is very fair. They only shot themselves in the foot adding gear grind to the combat though.

The thing about true action base combat is that every goes “oddjob” so your a lot harder to hit. Ppl tend to use that trick in GW2 to a point but that only for seeing not landing hits.

That and the crazy high lag that you will have to allow for look at games like DS / DS2 online the lag for hit boxes is crazy now images that with 100+ ppl fighting at the same time it just dose not work out.

true action combat seems to work completely fine in Wildstar and Tera. It’s just that it’s not the style of combat that’s used in GW2. Nothing more, nothing less.

I dunno man, my Guardian can use all of his skills for the most part without a target selected and still damage whatever is around him. I think it’s honestly a mix of what you’re talking about. Some weapons work like you are describing, some require targets. To me, that’s a happy middle ground.

and that’s why I said GW2 feels like action combat had a baby with tab targetting. It’s not full on action combat. It’s still better than full on tab targetting. I really don’t mind it. I’m just stating that it isn’t full on action combat.

true action base combat

Mirta.5029

Sure you don’t confuse GW2 with WoW here ?

yes, I’m sure. You know how you have to have a character selected to do such damage as majority of signets, a lot of the 1 skills on weapons, etc? That’s tab targetting. And even worse even when the enemy health bar goes away, they’re not deselected, that’s why when you use movement skills you sometimes move backwards towards the last enemy you had selected. happens even after dying and respawning in Spvp. Which annoys me to no end. Because in open world PVE to avoid that I target random critters and use my abilities when I got to go fast. I can’t do that in Spvp.

So yes, it still has tab targetting. Unlike Wildstar and Tera in which you don’t need to see the enemies healthbar at the top to inflict damage as all the skills simply execute in front of you (except for targetted aoes) and anyone in it gets hurt. The only things that work that way in GW2 ARE the aoes.

GW2 is action combat. It has way more mobility than Tera ever will. Tera locks you in place until the animation is finished, which isn’t very mobile at all. Some skills in GW2 lock us in place, but they are very few and can be cancelled by moving. Not only that, but we get true dodging in GW2, unlike in Tera, where “dodging” is very limited.

The only reason people think Tera’s combat is better is because of the crosshair. Other than that, it’s more static in it’s combat.

GW2 has 1. Tab targetting 2. No real dodging (only evading) 3. Is build ON the old GW1 engine, meaning that for example if a warrior is executing spinning blades and you think that you’re just out of the way, your hit box might not be and you will still sit down after he executes his attack and he’s miles away from you.

In other words GW2 looks like it has action combat, but really unless all you’re playing is AoE builds the game feels like action combat had a baby with tab based combat.

That tab targetting part is also why your movement skills don’t always execute forwards, which is super annoying. Oh you want to ride the lighting the way that you face? Oh I’m sorry, you fought someone 3 minutes ago, so let’s go into his direction instead.

By the words you posted he literally just said they’re going to be introducing new legendaries and precursors for those legendaries. He says no where in that quote about previously available precursors being available through collections.

How to save a dying guild?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mirta.5029

If it was my guild, I would not make it 100% rep because there are a lot of guilds around that specialize in specific things, e.g. Teq Terror Squad, Dry Top Master Race, etc. A lot of people, myself included, have our main guild and are also members of guilds like this that do a specific thing for a relatively short time. There are also personal guilds for extra bank room.

100% rep would wipe out people in guilds like the above despite them not taking much time.

same, I actually have members that are also in their friends guilds that have like 5 people in total. Their friend wants to be in their own guild, but they feel lonely when their friends are not around. This allows them to rep their friends guild and play that 1 or 2 hours that they’re online with them, but also join you when their friends are offline

if you want to make a rep rule, 60% or 80% is perfectly fine, but 100% is a bit much.

Mirta.5029

hitting 20 actively logging in members is not that bad actually. It’s what a lot of the guilds want. Not to mention in a game as popular as this, it’s not that hard to find new recruits.

I’m in what has been transformed into a multiguild community. I used to lead a guild on Luminai, on Wildstar. Since around November the server was battling death. What I mean by that is there was only 30 people online on the whole server. Now life there was a struggle. I just didn’t have the heart to continue after the Christmas halidays and gave my officers a green light to move. Elfarran took over while I started a guild on Guild Wars 2. And because of that we recovered a lot of players that we once knew but that moved on to other MMOs.

Some tips:

- don’t be afraid to take leaps of faith. I have awarded officer to people that I knew for merely days and invited another dude we only used to play boardgames with to lead our WoW part. Sometimes how nice are the people that you meet will surprise you. While we know about all the sad things that happen, remember that nothing happens until you bring yourself to trust some people.

- your guild will require your full undivided attention. That means spending hours simply recruiting, reaching out to multiples of your members trough the internet, logging in daily to help your new guildies.

- be optimistic. It’s hard to reach anything if you will focus on the negatives. Be positive, chat a lot, invite other guildies of yours to do stuff and be positive with you and they will want to continue to log on.

If they are Account bound and takes 50-60hrs game play to get, thats enough time to farm dungeons for a pre so prices will still stay the same.

in that amount of time I would earn 100G tops. Will be surprised if a collection is THAT fast to do in a new expansion, but if it would be the case it would be 7 times faster than me saving up for a pre now.

Also Account Bound doesn’t exactly matter if you’re making it for yourself. Which is what a lot of buyers of pre market are doing.

there were people bragging on the forums that they have hoarded 2000 precursors. These are the people that will panic and try to undercut. And this is exactly what we’re seeing.

And no, prices were not actually realistic for an average user. For example, a year ago, after all the loot overhauls I made Quip. My full money investment must have been 500 gold. My precursor was around 350. This time I’m heading for Meteorologicus. The price before the price drop was 700 gold. Around 500 would be what I would consider manageable. Around 400 is what I would have considered normal. My income is 10 gold a day.

That said, Weth does have a very valid point that it is best to have a single “go-to” resource that everyone knows about and keeps up to date. It’s absolutely fine to have your own guide if you want to produce one in your own style, but we’d appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to see if you have anything to add/correct from the gw2dungeons.net guide. It really has become “the” resource for GW2 instanced PvE

It’s up to Weth whether he feels a desire to maintain it, but it might be worthwhile to add some links to other guides, assuming it wouldn’t be too much trouble. Something similar to the builds tab, where it has a set of links to other sources of information.

how about if you need pictures in there and mine illustrate some points feel free to either borrow those and just say that they’ve been donated by the guild An Unknown, or link to those guides? Or link to the video guides? I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with Weth’s guide.

And I disagree with how gendered gw2 is. I think all outfits/armor should be unisexed. Human, charr, slyvari, norn. If someone wants to wear a dress, they should be allowed to even if they’re male or female, charr or human. Part of this game is playing how you want to play. It was in one of the first videos anet put out for guild wars 2. If I want to play a cross dressing norn I should be allowed that option BUT as they seem to either gender everything (in the case of the humonids) or gender NOTHING (in the case of charr and asura though they prodomantly get the male skin of the humonid outfits moved over) they can’t even do that right.

There are times I want my human to be in a fancy tux but since the outfit on females is a dress I don’t get that option and that in itself frustrates me. I hate the fact that the noble outfit on an asuran female IS a tux and not a cute dress (I raged for MONTHS at that, I was looking forward to a cute dress). I dislike the fact that the Lich outfit has nipple clips on asuran females. What art director allowed that? Having a low cut hanging shirt was WORSE then nipple clips on a female asuran how?

but does it fit with the lore?

Also for Asuran dresses, the Wintersday dress is actually a dress.
