Tequatl, 3 headed Worms are raids and being in a guild helps there.
Bigger guilds that are half, or purely WvW organize WvW raids that can be fun too.
Other than that a guild provides someone to chat to, someone to run dungeons and fractals with. I much prefer guild dungeon and fractal runs, because unlike the pug level it never gets worse or better, you know what kind of skill level you can expect from those people, you know what kind of mistakes they’ll make, so you can just relax and kitten with them
Something we paid 200g for that everyone will be running around with soon…
I just don’t understand what Anet is trying to do there.
Everyone? I got a lot of AP chests yet out of PvP skins I got very few that are worth anything. A lot just look like PVE whites. Not to mention new players won’t be able to acquire it and only very few select old ones will have gotten it trough PvP.
This… I don’t even know how to respond to you. Here goes..
Scrolling into your characters head has absolutely NOTHING in common with FPV at all. All you are doing is scrolling into your head. If you enjoy playing inside your toons head fine enjoy but don’t try tell me you are “going FPV”
Where did I say that I’m going FPV? All I’l saying is that if your character disappears when you scroll into their heads and the camera is obviously able to go that low/ high it shouldn’t be a difficult feature to implement.
Just throwing it out there, but this kind of misguided hatred is created by fear that comes from ignorance. Like Fenar mentioned, the gaming population consists of young males.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_and_video_games
Your knowledge is outdated by at least 10 years.
“Entertainment Software Association’s 2013 study found that 45% of game players are female, 2% decrease from last year’s figures.32 However, women 18 years or older represent 31% of the game-playing population, one percent higher than last year, while boys 17 years and younger represent 19% of the game-playing population.32 Women over 18 are one of the fastest growing demographics in the gaming industry33 and the percentage of females in gaming has continued to grow considering only 38% of the gaming population was female in 2006.34
Not only is the general female gaming population growing, but the spread of this population is expanding over many facets of gaming.
A 2010 study by the Entertainment Software Association had found that the percentage of women playing online had risen to 42%, up several percent since 2004. The same 2010 study showed that 46% of game purchasers were female,35 and this figure increased to 48% by 2012.30"

Very few of the players are actually young as well. You’re more likely to hit a 20-30 year old, then you are a hit a teenager. It’s simply because this is the genre that most of us grew up with.
I think that’s not necessarily true. There are ways to express your discontent without being offensive about it and using derogatory words. Not using offensive words doesn’t mean not using words at all. What everyone should learn is how to express your opinion in a way that respects other people, and that if you can’t do that you should just say… Nothing. There’s absolutely nothing to be gained by hurting others in any way. Not saying that I advocate banning words though, not at all. People should just learn to behave and need to be aware that words can hurt. A lot. Anyone who has been rejected by his or her crush knows that!
Anyway, there’s a bunch of people in that chat that I hope were reported. “No homos” is clearly offensive (whereas “stay close to my donkey” is immature at most). I’ve never seen a chat like that on my server though (Piken), it seems that you ended up in a bad place there. My sympathies.
But you see, that’s the point. If you remove the most insulting words, later any word that carries any negative meaning becomes insulting. In Japan it’s impolite to say “no”. Whatever is the question you’re supposed to always say yes. Which gets extremely confusing because actions do not match words. “Let’s go to the store” “Okay”, you see that the lady that you’re talking to will not actually go anywhere, “So are you going?” “Yes”, says the lady without ever planning to go anywhere.
If you think that “No kitten ” is insulting then I wonder what bubble do you live in. This term is used in a lot of bro codes. For example “I love you bro! No kitten ”. This time it was used in a joking way.
There is a lot of homophobia (and also misogyny and racism) floating around the online gaming community probably because of the demographic: young males. Unfortunately, certain terms and phrases have effectively become slang and are used so widely that it would be hard to ban everyone who uses them. Some comments are so obviously offensive, though, that you should probably report those people. If it’s someone you know, you could also first try politely asking them to stop.
As a female I actually think that misogyny is being called too many times without it actually being there. For example, revealing armours, discriminating women or not? In my opinion, they’re not discriminatory, because it’s just skin.
“Oh you’re a girl?… Dibz!” most likely a joke. Should only be taken as an attack if the person literally does not leave you alone.
“Oh, go back to the kitchen” can be both a joke and an insult. A lot of the time depends on the context.
Now this is the kind of thing where you can actually yell “sexism!”:

I’m always amazed at the amount of people who think “gay means bad” is somehow not homophobic. Trying using the word “Jewish” to mean greedy or tight-fisted, and see how much support you get. (Illustrative example: ‘Stop being so Jewish, lend me some money.’) It’s exactly the same thing.
However, for the purposes of the OP, I feel like Block and Report should be sufficient.
So when hipsters go “I’m such a nerd”, or that’s so nerdy do we get insulted about a changing word meaning? Gay to begin with never meant homosexual, it meant jolly. Now it’s changing again to mean bad but at the same time losing its meaning as homosexual. Language is a hard thing to explain. You can’t go around being this sensitive though.
It doesn’t matter if someone is a little kid or pitiful in real life. It doesn’t matter that “words shouldn’t hurt you”. It doesn’t matter that “the interwebs are cruel”
The fact is, words DO hurt. And we’re only human. We have bad days. We feel pain—even when somebody doesn’t mean harm.
Maybe this is “the interwebs”, but behind the screen are real people. And real people can’t always choose whether or not they hurt.Instead of teaching people “Don’t let words hurt you”, we should teach people “Don’t say words that hurt”
There has been a campaign recently to ban the word “bossy”. You can not force people to never use bad words. I don’t even think that this should be taught, because we will end up in a very two faced community, where we’re all polite, but secretly carrying knives behind our backs.
These sorts of comments have caused many suicides though. You’re suggesting here that I should keep my opinions and comments to myself, not confront those in game being abusive/homophobic and/or racist, and just ‘live with it’ and stay silent? I’m sorry but I WILL have to agree to disagree with you there.
The thing is if they’re only using the word in a sense of “that’s gay” they’re not being abuse, homophobic or racist and you’re simply attacking them for no reason. Everyone goes trough life hearing a bunch of things and there’s probably no words that did not cause suicide in someone. Hell someone who knows that they can’t bring up a child, but knows that they will be forced to give birth probably suicided hearing “you’re pregnant” in their head. Does that mean that that phrase should be made illegal?
Do you think that all of us here had no problems in our lives and we’re somehow very different to you when it comes to feeling? We have simply just learned how to not be overly sensitive and that’s what everyone has to do at some point in their lives.
You’re right, it shouldn’t affect me, but it does, and there’s nothing that will cause me to be unaffected by it. Most of the time I know the player just means ‘bad’, ‘stupid’ or ‘wrong’, and so I try not to take offense to it, but when it comes to a point where it has now, where it’s normal to say these things, that’s when it becomes a problem. Because many lives have been lost to comments just like those in the screenshot – so it does affect me.
It’s like if everyone went round saying ’that’s so hetty’ or ‘lol don’t be a breeder’.
Words may have changed, but it doesn’t make it right, normal OR ok.
Well I am terribly sorry, because this will sound harsh, but you will have to live with it. You saying “this word personally offends me” to me sounds the same as “the colour blue worn by boys personally offends me because it used to be reserved solely for girls”, it’s a personal thing and in no way the fault of community. Are there things that personally offend me? Yes. To those close to me I tell them not to say or do certain things and they know. To the rest of society, though, why should they care? They don’t mean to offend, they’re not doing anything that is considered offensive, therefore I have no right to complain. Because everyone finds something offensive and if we went around being afraid to offend each other we would be extremely afraid to ever talk or gesture in any way shape or form.
My problem with the use of ’that’s so gay’ and comments similar to that, is that, while it may not be intended as an insult, when you hear those comments day in and day out, pretty much EVERY day, it starts to affect you. May not be today, or the next day, but eventually you get really sick of hearing it and it starts to be taken personally. Also, if those people want to use ‘gay’ instead of words like ‘stupid’, ‘bad’, or ‘wrong’, how hard is it to actually use the correct word? Is it movies/media that’s making everyone seem to think this is ok? As clearly society is used to it :-/
That’s what I mean by language change. It should not affect you because it’s simply the way it changed. And no, it wouldn’t be more difficult to use a different word, however by now it’s simply very common to use that one. The same way that if you turn the clock back a few decades, I’m sure that some people were unhappy with changing word use and would rather it was used in a different way.
Wow, so I guess you’re saying that sometimes heteros just gonna het.
Not every single person using a changed word is necessarily a heterosexual you know
TTS is not a server based guild we are WORLD based.
My server is multi server. We decide on a server to guest on to do guild missions.
The word gay in itself is not a swear word. And a lot of the times people are not trying to insult homosexual people, but rather use it in a “that sucks” kind of way. Remember that word meanings change often and fast, 50 years before “gay” used to mean “joyful”. As in “I’m having a very gay day”. Some of the remarks can be seen as insults, but not all that you point are actually wrong. To some of them, I think, that you’re reacting too sensitively.
I read everything that’s written. The talk about lesbians among sylvari is just how people joke.
“kitten that is gay” is how the word is most commonly used right now and like I’ve said most homosexuals do not see anything wrong with it, because it’s not directed at them or even used as an insult.
The person using the harsh word "starting with “fa” in the say chat can be reported.
The person on the map chat being racist can be reported.
Commander saying “stay on my kitten ” “no kitten ” is once again joking and you’re seriously overreacting.

Kenage, if TTS is a big guild, it should be able to summon Tequatl on off peak times. Read their blog post again
I love it when the norn guards say “I was an adventurer like you once but I took an arrow to the knee” XD, It’s a reference to my favorite game Skyrim. Can’t wait for Skyrim 2 !!!
You mean Elder Scrolls VI
because I don’t think that they’ve ever will make more than one Elder scrolls game in the same place.
I really like it. Population is spread really oddly at the moment and it will most definitely help very high pop servers and low pop servers. No longer people from desolation will be kicked out into an overflow, because someone else is guesting there to get their boss kills. No longer will people guest for opened dungeons, because they’re too lazy to open. Everyone will have to work now.
will any of that even matter once the mega server comes in ?
Well 3 days ago this wasn’t announced yet
Yeah, I guess I wasn’t clear. I get that there are a form of loot tables here, but there’s a difference between what GW2 does and having a “reasonable” chance at certain items. When it makes more sense to open up the trading post and buy an item than attempt to find it via drops, it’s not a very compelling loot table. (Obviously this excludes items that can’t be found on the trading post, like ascended chests and fractal weapons.)
You probably have a more reasonable chance to get a precursor in here than anything worth anything in runescape. In MMOs a 1 in a million chance is pretty normal, the smallest chance in here is 1 in 10 000 I think.
GW2 does not focus on horizontal progression. It was supposed to but that fell by the wayside. The new feature patch will help but it still focuses on vertical progression.
It’s not really vertical if you can jump from blues to ascendeds without having to go trough all the other tiers.
There is a great vid about D3 but it applies equally to GW2 with its RMT focus, enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kwmJ_FepQs
If you dislike the game so much that you pay money to skip content, I feel sorry for you.
I miss loot tables. Maybe not to the degree that they exist in other games, but I’d like to go somewhere and have a reasonable chance of specific items dropping. Dyes were pretty much the highlight of my drops, and since they’re not going to be drops anymore…. When everything is a worldwide drop, all you have is luck. It’s not about persistence or skill anymore, and what is the fun in that?
Well
Specific champions can drop specific exotics
Specific world bosses and bosses in dungeons can drop exotics unique to them
Raid bosses (like Tequatl) can drop ascendeds unique to them
Fractals are the only place to get fractal weapons and also have an increased chance to give you ascendeds.
To be honest the loot is just fine. I get drops of yellows (often), exotics (sometimes) and level 30 fractal completion seems to have a 1/5 chance to give you an ascended. What more can you want? A rain of legendaries?
To compare that sure, in WoW raid bosses will be dropping the best in line armour, but even when you’re clearing them alone on an overleveled character you’ll always get loot for a different class than what you are.
Wow, I have never even seen an ascended weapon or armor drop for myself…lots of rings in fractals, but not a single ascended weapon or armor drop….I’ve seen others get them….just never me.
you must be lucky as heck to get enough to want to do the 4 to 1 swap.
I’m extremely lucky, but in the wrong way. The only stat combo that I can’t use is healer and that’s all I’m getting lol. It kind of feels like getting a precursor to drop (never happened to me), with the economy still being the one that we had half a year ago and seeing that it’s an underwater precursor. Something that used to go for like 15G, when the other precursors went for 300.
i support 4 boxes into 1 boxes.
wouldn’t mind that at all. Would be so much useful than just keeping them in the bank.
My suggestion to you:
Roll a Healer.
I have like 10 alts and they rage from power, to condition, to toughness, everywhere but all rounder and healing power :/ and I really don’t think that I would enjoy playing a healer. Previously when it was rings I would just sell them for 4 silver. Could I be allowed to sell my boxes for 4 silver? :/
The RNG of this game hates me. Every time when I run fractals and do get a piece of ascended armour, it’s healer. I could have a use for any other box except for healer. Therefore here goes my suggestion:
- allow us to throw 4 ascended boxes (or gear/ weapon items) and get a random ascended box (that is prefferably not what you threw in).
- allow us to salvadge ascendeds for let’s say 1/8th of the materials required to make a piece of armour
- allow us to vendor the boxes for a gold or two
- allow us to exchange ascended armour for armour tokens. Let’s say a piece of armour gives you a token and you need 5, or 10.
finally maybe gasp allow us to sell boxes (not items, but boxes themselves. Should be a limit on how many you can sell weekly, or monthly even and a limit on how much you can buy).
Please do either of it. Please do something. Because right now there’s a bunch of boxes just lying there. I don’t care how low the exchange would be. I don’t care how little I could get out of it. Hell that 4 silver that I get from vendoring useless ascended rings is more that I can get out of useless armour and weapon.
If you are an achievement hunter, you feel obligated to play sab to get those achievements and they were much harder/more time consuming than any other living story/achievement segment ever done. I’m not against an optional sab dungeon without achievements.(it’s possible to earn sab tokens after running paths for skin rewards)
But I just don’t wanna play a 8bit game anymore when there’s possibly more, new opportunities/achievement sets to create in gw2’s own mmorpg structure. It was a good april 1 joke and it ended, and a sequel came it was ok too. But, I think it’s simply enough to have 2x sab content. They have to spend their effort to expand the main game with new features/content after this point imo.
That’s a very silly way of seeing it. Achievements are for participating in content. There’s content that I can’t or don’t want to do as well. Should I ask achievement points removed from those sides of the game?
Well this really really made me sad too. It’s been too long since the last Sab. And it will be so much longer if ever
The feature update on the 15th will hopefully be SAB World 3. There are still a few more things yet to be announced.
feature is not content. No content in feature.
Where are GvG and HA? Where are Underworld, FoW, Deep, Urgoz, DoA, and Sorrow’s Furnace?
So only GvG and HA is meaningful? What about guild keep upgrades? What about guild missions? Meaningful is subjective. If meaning was judged by what was in the previous game and is not in the sequel, world of warcraft would have no players, because in no way shape or form does it resemble Warcraft the strategy game.
Where are the new classes & skills (a handful of skills and traits are fine, but not alone after a year and a half)?
And who promised you all that? Some MMOs release with one race and a few classes and add slowly over time (look at Ragnarok Online 2 for example), others take years to add a new race (World of Warcraft released Burning Crusade after 3 years of the original release), others launch with all the available classes and races.
Culling wasn’t so much an optimization but a bug fix to enable people to see the enemy…
Actually if you remember reading posts after the anti-culling update the developers were very proud of themselves for managing to get their engine to run it well enough. Other MMOs still have culling. It took them a mammoth amount of work to remove culling and now you’re calling it a bug fix? Culling was supposed to be there.
The problem here isn’t the time it took to address those shortcomings in various areas of the game … it’s the conscious decision by ANet to focus resources on other things, in many cases on things players repeatedly said they didn’t want..
Did you read the programmer post about how they were working on the wardrobe since the wallet? As a person experienced in programming I can safely say that things take time.
There are entire categories of core features that are missing or underdeveloped. Post-80 content, lasting non-ls content, teamplay mechanics, meaningful guild activities, CPU optimization, UI customization, skills, weapons, classes, races, non-gemstore armors and so on. If you read recent glassdoor reviews by employees (both the good and the bad ones), the general sentiment is that the company is stretched too thin trying to accommodate the frantic LS pace.
Post 80 content? Have as much as any other MMO
teamplay and meaningful guild activities? That’s there
The game is always being optimized, hence we’re able to not have culling anymore
UI customization is not something every MMO allows. In fact most don’t.
weapons, classes, races, etc are just fine. We have those. We have non gemstore armours too.
As i said, mmo is not a genre
No, but MMORPG is.
Just because your peers are garbage doesn’t mean you also have to be garbage.
That’s the same as saying “if your peers did not manage to make a car that goes 700 miles an hour, it doesn’t mean that you should have realistic expectations! I want my 700 mile an hour card, kitten!”
also, all your examples? all recent games – and again i have to repeat games these days are released “unfinished” except for a few.
Same for old games. There are still games from the 90s that can not be finished due to a bug in one or another level. Game design is a really difficult thing.
I really doubt that we’re getting it. IT would be announced if we were. I am waiting for SAB to come back too though.
If dueling is added to the game it should be added as an aspect of PvP, NOT PvE! The PvE environment was set up to be inherently cooperative. Even without that being the case, a dueling system will be heavily abused. And I’m sorry, but simply adding an option to auto-refuse duel requests isn’t enough. It won’t stop the endless flow of “DUEL ME!” message spam, and the block list is only so long.
because you’re getting that now with all the people doing costume duels right? It’s pretty much in the game, just in a slightly different form.
I just want sab back.
I get what you are saying, but that is the drawback of low pop servers. Guesting is easy and will get you what you want if your server fails. You should just be thankful there is a solution.
My problem is that the server is not even marked as low pop (we’re the last at WvW, our events fail, but we’re apparently very high, even though we’re doing worse than the only medium server in Europe). The funny thing is that the problem wasn’t as bad until free transfers opened. Their mistake was opening the last bronze tiers and silver tiers for free transfers. Of course people did not want to stay in 27th place! They jumped right into 13th by switching their server to Gandara!
In fairness to him, people do the arah event all the time and everyone can guest any time, so it shouldn’t be hard to get these traits. It’s not like LS events where if you don’t get there the first week and the zerg is gone, you won’t be able to do the events.
In UW quite often if you want to have something done, you’ll have to do it yourself. Quite often now I end up doing Melandru with 2 other people. Shatterer and Jormag sometimes now fails. And I don’t think that guesting should be a way to correct the problem.
Not really a barrier. Still acquirable by money but just expensive enough that people will actually want to do content for them. Never said PvE or PvP notice I said content. There can be a PvP unlock and PvE unlock for each book. My point is just it was a form of progression in GW1 that kept people busy for years it may be something that can provide the same level of interest here as well if done right.
tl:dr 3 ways to unlock ,cash should be the hardest to encourage playing the game (PvP/PvE)
The barrier of price shouldn’t be high. Either that or you should be able to do all the trait unlocks solo. As it is right now some of them are for example “do the Arah unlock event”, well for about 2 weeks all servers will be doing everything. Smaller servers will fail. After a certain period of time drop off will happen (because older players won’t need to unlock those traits again anymore) and people (especially in low pop servers) will be stuck traitless.
Still wouldn’t stop harassment from griefers.
I really don’t want to have to “auto decline” AND “block” just so I can continue on the way I already am. Open world dueling really does seem to run contrary to the entire open world cooperation on top of that.
You know how you can choose to completely ignore player music instruments in the options menu? The same would probably be done there. You wouldn’t need to auto decline or block anything.
Plus it could always be done like fighting with costumes on. Players would have to toggle specific items to duel.
Unlike the previous times there’s no indication that they’ll do SAB again this April 1st. Even though I was really hoping fur it
If it happens though I’ll be super happy!
That’s a few reasons why this shouldn’t be added before any of that stuff. I know some people will want this feature, I get that, but the other stuff I mentioned will be used by a FAR greater percentage of the player base.
Do you have the numbers somewhere? Because when I last checked both WvW and Spvp players actually are quite upset that their parts of the game get updated far less.
Though I wouldn’t mind a new dungeon as well.
Please don’t waste the time on this devs. I know some people want this, but there are so many things in the game that actually need fixing/attention long before something else is added that, I believe, a small percentage of people want. We already have pvp areas that are great for fighting each other.
^
Please don’t listen to this man. All of us have subjective opinions. I personally love dueling and I find it a much needed feature. And no, custom arenas do not work unless you’re able to waste lots of cash monthly to keep it open.
It is of course not for me to decide where the time should be put, but I find statements such as “don’t waste your time” to be insulting, because the person is using this just because he/she personally dislikes that particular feature.
Simplest answer I can give is that it just isn’t as high a priority as other things we have been working on.
Why do you feel custom arenas do not work for those that want to duel?
because you either need to pay monthly to be able to keep your arena and duel, or have a guild that specifically is okay to stop doing what they’re doing so you could duel. It also doesn’t allow you to try your PVE gear against your friends – you can only try PvP builds.
I’m not renting a product, rather, I’m paying for a service. The same exact service everyone else pays for which means everyone has access to everything the game offers. I like not having to pay real money for basics like bank and bag slots. If I like mini pets I can go out and get them. Same with a certain look. Same with mounts. All of this without bring funneled into a cash shop. Alts don’t cost me money either.
Let’s see:
1. You’re renting the game. You already bought it, you bought the expansion for it, that should be enough of paying. I rather have the opportunity to pay for something optionally (like a new musical instrument on the gem store), than to be forced to pay that price and get nothing else, except for the right to play the game which I already bought for another 30 days.
2. Mounts are on the store. The same way that some skins in Guild Wars 2 are on the store. One difference – there’s no in-game currency to store currency exchange in games like Warcraft. Same with pets.
3. A lot of services are for sale. Race change, faction change, server change (is even charged per character this one) and of course you can buy a max level if you wish to pay 50 Euros.
4. Well alts don’t cost in here either. You can have 5 characters. If you want more, you can pay, while Warcraft hard-capped the amount of alts you can have and you can not exceed the cap.
Very, very few people are going to sub to 5 MMOs at the same time. I was at one time subbed to both WoW and EVE Online and still didn’t like splitting my time even though they are very different games.
That’s exactly my point. If you’re already subscribed to one, you’re unlikely to try out a different one, meaning that the sub market is somewhere where it is so much harder to compete. At the moment I enjoy playing and follow news about 4 MMOs:
World of Warcraft (the only one with a sub)
Guild Wars 2
Tera
Startrek Online.
Because it’s impossible to never grow tired of a product I tend to play one for a bit and then rotate.
for all those reason ill likely go to a downgraded quality MMO as you call it and play it so to do something ’’NEW’’ Scarlet was in no way something as great or interesting as in an expension and i didnt actualy bother to spend time doing her storyline. Since april doesnt seems to bring anything interesting ill be just leaving for a while and play something new until GW2 itself has something new as well. Its not a question of game quality its just that like everyone i like doing something ’’new’’.
I actually think that that is the point of GW2. You can leave it for a while, because it’s casual and you don’t have to pay a sub fee and then come back once something interesting has been done.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if a trivial $15 monthly fee is breaking your bank, then you need to shift your priorities away from gaming.
Well why rent a product instead of just buying it? No matter how low or high the sub fee is, it will add up. For example you can’t rent 5 games without it getting really expensive. You can own 5 games though. I am “renting” world of warcraft from time to time. I’m extremely unlikely to rent something else when I’m already paying for that.

Well you should probably state whether you’re EU or NA
Basically, save them for Fractals, where you may not be able to easily get to a repair NPC.
Not as easy as in other dungeons but you can still step out and repair if it really becomes necessary so there isn’t a need to save them for fractals.
Unless you opened the fractal or have long loading times. I still prefer using them in fractals than stepping out though.
not true i like to wait healer ill play healer ill tank you do not talk for all of us
then why are you in a no trinity game?
It’s not like they’ll remove the vendor. I image everything in the hero panel will cost transmute stones, but you’ll be able to go to that vendor and take the skins out for free again.
it’s nearly not possible. if it was 100, it could be ok.
It is possible. Read the dulfy’s guide of slayer achievements. People are in a giant farming guild. They upscale one specific event so that 5 would spawn then kill 4 and fail it. The event respawns around every 5 minutes. If you do it until you reach 50 a day it will take you 20 days. You could do 25 a day or so for 40 days. Or 12 a day for 80 days. Time consuming and grindy, but doable.
That being said I think that it should either reward far more points or there should be more giants in the world.
