Pvp (of any kind) and Pve should never get mixed. EVER.
^ that’s kind of my point.
Sigh
Stop saying it disadvantages new players. Getting to rank 14 is incredibly easy, especially compared to getting all the other materials to craft your Legendary.
And rank 14 is a month of Daily Laurels, so you don’t even have to participate if you hate it so much.
Wait, you can buy rank ups with laurels? O_O That’s kind of messed up.
This is a really bad idea.
1. It disadvantages the new players.
2. It will drive the legendary price up.
3. Forcing PVEers to WvW won’t do good for WvWers.1. No it doesn’t.
2. No it won’t.
3. The are not “forced” to get a legendary.
1. As a person that got all my gifts of battle with the WvW currency awarded for achievement points? Yes it does.
2. Less people able to make a legendary = less sellers = price rise.
3. They are not forced, but they’ll want it and they’ll spend time running around WvW ruining planned attacks.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/20q6fd/game_update_notes_march_18_2014/
Added a requirement for players to attain a rank of 14 in order to purchase the Gift of Battle.
This is a really bad idea.
1. It disadvantages the new players.
2. It will drive the legendary price up.
3. Forcing PVEers to WvW won’t do good for WvWers.
Blizzard already did this and well, people are complaining. PvP is entered by those that hate PvP, which in turn leads to grief, bad performance and complaints.
This is a bad idea as well… I can just Imagine the pain in the kitten grouping and the LFG tool would become with something like this. “LFG lvl 80 experienced Norn Zerker Warrior Couples only 10,000 AP+ speed clear”….uhhhgggg
I don’t think that bonuses should be given with these titles. Because I mean you don’t see LFGs at the moment asking for a specific title unless it’s dungeon related.
A lot of teenagers play this game. So marriage/dating is a big no-no.
e.g. 44 year old male player nicknamed “OldGuy” is dating a 15 year old female player nicknamed"MeSoHot".
See a problem?
Thing is, without marriage option they can still be dating. With marriage option they’re still not married legally and know nothing about each other in real life.
That can be applied to anything, why do the few people that want this “marriage” thing feel they deserve to have it in game when other games already offer it or are based around it?
When the topic essentially is “guys wouldn’t this be cool?” I don’t think that anyone feels like they deserve or absolutely need anything. However the pure insulting negativity in this thread is horrible.
Like for example this
I heard you can get married in the Hello Kitty game. Sounds like that might work for you.
“oh you would enjoy this feature? Go and play a game for kids! That’s where you belong!”. It would be the same as telling a person that likes to carefully pick a specific armour style for his character to go and play a dress up game. Because this is a serious MMO!
this is not a dating website, it’s a game
God forbid someone wants some simulation in their MMO.
reaching a level of “online living” where you want a marrige option in a game that doesn’t have it, is certainly unhealthy / antisocial
Is wanting to be able to emote in games anti-social too?
dont even give anet more ideas to waste time
Implying that anything that they don’t plan using is a waste of time.
How sad and alone must you be to want to get married in a game that has nothing even to do with romance? Go home.
Implying that a person is sad if they enjoy roleplaying.
This isn’t even half the horrible insulting negativity on this thread. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. It probably will never be in the game anyway, but why the need to insult the people that like it?
Dungeons generally see less play than open world content so no developer resources should be spent on them.
PvP generally sees less play than PvE so no development resources should be spent on it.
New armor sets are not playable content, are only cosmetic, have no impact on balance, etc. and so no development resources should be spent on them.
Right ?
Finally someone understands! If people don’t support it, that’s fine, but why do they have to be so condescending towards anyone that likes the idea? Why do they feel like they deserve their content more than any other people?
I don’t like useless content when there are actual important things that desperately need to be worked on. I don’t care if it takes 30 minutes to make a “marriage emote”, that’s 30 minutes that could have been better served doing almost anything else.
And yet not everyone sees such content as useless. I didn’t use the new cutscenes in the personal story, but someone still sacrificed time making them. Does that mean that they shouldn’t have because of my personal opinion?
One animation is harder than 0, and 0 is the appropriate number here.
So you don’t like content unless it caters to you only? You probably think that all those cutscenes in the personal story are useless too?
You need that much help to get married?
Human default town clothes would be acceptable with the right dye job.
And honestly, the most marriage-appropriate animations would probably affect the “Teen” rating.
So teens can’t see kissing or hand holding? Oh yeah, I remember The Sims getting mature rating! Don’t you?
As an asura my town clothes at the moment are the wintersday dress. There’s no male equivalent when it comes to looking fancy and when it comes to dresses I wouldn’t mind more variation.
I don’t need that much help. I wouldn’t mind some help though. Had seen more titles, emotes, clothing in other games and I think that variety would do the game good. And the ability to sit on chairs. And first person. And other elements that could help out in role playing. That’s why I support this idea in the first place. In order to have a proper marriage they would have to roll out at least some animations, some new town clothing, maybe some new building locations?
1) It is already possible for your character to get married
Well help from Anet would be nice.
There are no clothing that you could use as a wedding dress/ suit
There’s no two person animations (like holding hands or kissing)
and then there’s no visible accessory/ title/ head gear/ anything that could show that you’ve done in.
Well having in mind that if you stand close to a wall you can scroll with a wheel into your character’s head, I don’t think that it’s that hard to implement. We need it.
Show my one successful game, ever, that prioritizes in-game marriage over balance or playable content. Your “everything is subjective” argument may amuse the other philosophy 101 students, but it falls apart under even the most cursory examination.
1. Who says prioritize?
2. How hard do you think a title and one animation is to implement?
Why are we even talking about adding specific rewards for rangers? Because they are undesirable? Adding rewards exclusive to rangers won’t make them more desirable, it will only make the other members of the party feel annoyed because they have someone in their party that is intentionally handicapping them to get better rewards himself. It’s the Magic Find gear all over again.
Rangers are not handicap. Yes, their pets are stupid, but they can put out an awful lot of damage.
The biggest one: It has a sub fee. Yes you can choose to sub, however they also have the CRED system. You can buy your sub with ingame money, similar to the gem->gold system of GW2. it’s about equivalent to 100g a month in current GW2 money, which works out to about 16 hours of farming a month, hardly unreasonable.
Yeah I looked into Wildstar and talked with my boyfriend about it. It’s not a bad game. The problem is when you can’t afford to pay, but at the same time can barely log in trough the previous month. In short – you’re just a bit short on time to farm your next sub fee and then you have to pay. Just because of the sub fee I’m more likely to turn to a F2P MMO (there are a few that I enjoy on my list) or to buy and try Secret World. I heard that it’s pretty average, but it’s buy to play, therefore nothing really is lost if you choose not to play it.
ESO – well most of you guys forget one thing. PvE population in GW2 will mostly move to ESO just because of greener pastures.
I’m going to assume that you weren’t in a single beta. The PVE is the most awful boring thing in ESO.
Um what? The combat here is more engaging than most other games, if anything that’s probably the best aspect of this game. Don’t even get me started on animations combat wise in other games, heck games like FF14 don’t even show your missiles (arrows, spells) flying through the air. All you see is a splash on the enemy, now that’s horrible animations right there.
The demise of ESO is its RPG brothers whose combat system is superior. No matter how different the combat system is MMO wise people wanted Elder Scrolls RPG online and Zenimax failed to deliver. Combat feels nothing like the RPG ones – it’s slow, clunky, your main attacks have soft targeting (seriously, why? Tera did just fine with no aim assist) and all extra abilities lock on. It is really not fun.
1. Half your recommended games are single player. Single player games release daily. Just drop by on steam! And in no way shape or form due to influence the MMO player base.
2. Both Wildstar and ESO are launching with a sub fee.
3. Played ESO. Did not like it. It’s bleak, empty, has soft target assist and doesn’t feel like an ES game at all. Some people will like it, but the whole GW2 population won’t just suddenly switch games.
more ways to acquire ascended gear.
gem store being less RNG based. Maybe at least for people buying with real money. Like for example if you purchase our keys you’re guaranteed to get this many weapon scraps, this many unidentified dyes or something. That way black lion keys would look less pointless on the gemstore.
Other than that I’m happy with the quality of life as it is and if that would be okay, I would like even more customization options – more haircuts, face types, colours, armour sets
Yeah, it’s clearly just me. It’s not like there are countless threads about each of these issues. Very much just me and no one else. Everything is perfect, my bad. Everything is so perfect, that trivial garbage like player marriage can become a priority. How did I ever make such a monumental mistake of thinking there were more important issues to be dealt with?
There’s threads wanting that, there’s threads wanting marriage, there’s threads thinking that this, this, or this part of the game doesn’t need an update, there are people enjoying the game, there are people thinking that the game is broken. Point is – everyone has their own opinions and it does not necessarily match yours. Your opinion is very negative when it comes to the game. My opinion is probably overly positive. Which side has more supporters and what parts of the game actually need addressing? Only Anet has the numbers.
A stale endgame.
Horrific balance.
Broken WvW matchups.
Dead servers.
Poorly written temporary content.…and you want them to waste time on IN-GAME MARRIAGE?! Wow…
All of the points above are subjective. For you the game is in a horrible state and then some of us are enjoying parts of it that you think are broken.
All the things you mentioned work well with how the game was made. They are all things the game was designed to be. Getting married is not.
So the game was designed to have SAB in it?
8+million active accounts and 10yrs+ says it’s not so terrible.
Wow PvP is not all about gear – that’s generally the stereo-typical response of those who found it too difficult or complex to handle.. Also the match making system there is years ahead of what we have in TPvP.
Not about the gear eh? Enter a battleground without PvP gear, or only with the battleground gear and try going against someone in arena armour. You won’t stand a chance. It’s all about pvp power.
It affects me in the sense that devs will be wasting their time adding a married option to the game when they could be doing something actually related to GW.
Always depends on what you would call a waste of time. Are new armour skins a waste of time? They’re not content. Is SAB a waste of time? It’s not tied to the main story line. Was making Fotm a waste of time? We had enough dungeons. Was the new WvW map a waste of time? Not everyone likes WvW. Are living story titles a waste of time? WE can do without earning a title…
How about go do that in a different game.
and why exactly? How does a title of “wife of” or “husband of” even affect you? Roleplaying is common in all MMOs you know.
This topic comes up a lot – yes it is allowed, I use it all the time
I cannot express enough how much I dislike this idea. As spells image says – this is not a dating site. How sad and alone must you be to want to get married in a game that has nothing even to do with romance? Go home.
how about we like roleplaying with a person dear to us?
I came in here to show my support. Really can’t wait for the next SAB.
I’m going to pitch my opinion in if nobody minds:
Things that I dislike
1. Not enough variety. When there’s only around 10 fractals, it really gets boring fast. You can still roll the one that you want and you’ll rarely roll the one that you haven’t played in a while. In my opinion the fractals would have been better off if they were shorter (dredge, underground, etc are quite long), but there was significantly more of them. For starters rolling from 30 would already increase fractals appeal to me. Rolling from 50 would be ideal. Rolling from 100 would be extraordinary (so I don’t expect it ever reaching that far).
2. Ascended gating and how its dealt with. If I want to be able to progress trough fractals, I want to only do fractals to do so. Been doing 30 for a while, not a single time did I ever see a weapon or an armour drop. PReferably fractals would simply be better without such emphasis on the agony mechanic (I mean higher up mobs finally start hitting so hard that there’ strategy involved, but to get there you need to spend a lot of gold or grind a lot to get enough gear to have enough AR), but if we’re stuck with how it is, could we have a bigger chance of an ascended piece dropping to us so we could increase our AR? Or maybe we could collect a ticket a run and when we reach 50 tickets we could buy an ascended piece? Granted that’s very grindy, but really it wouldn’t be any more grindy than trying to get RNG to roll in your favour while fractaling right now.
3. The rolling a fractal mechanic could improve. The new fractals added – some of them I’ve still never rolled. I rolled Thaumanova once, the Aetherblade boss fight once. Most often I roll 3 old ones and the Molten boss fight. There’s almost no variety ever when I roll a fractal. And when you’re on your second or third you are not going to tell your teammates to leave the fractal so you could try to re-roll so maybe you could play one that you don’t get as often.
4. Repairing in fractals is awkward. I would really like one repair station at the start of each fractal. Sure, you won’t return there in the middle of the fractal, but hell it would be a wonderful improvement! Right now what ends up happening is slightly awkward – you need to log out, to be kicked out to Vigil’s keep, then repair, then go back in again and spawn dead.
Things that I like
I have to give you guys a praise for adding a guaranteed gold at the end of a fractal. I still enter fractals in hope that the RNG gods will be nice to me, but now I know that I’ll at least carry out a gold.
neutral things
I have a love hate relationship with the dredge. In one hand it’s the only fractal that will be very profitable, due to how much trash there is (in comparison to for example swamp where your only loot is going to be the boss chest), but God is it too long! Every single mechanic in it ends up annoying the groups running it and it feel like it goes on for forever! To compare I wish that it was closer to the Shaman one in length and I wish that the shaman one was closer to the dredge when it comes to trash mobs dropping consistent loot that’s not gray.

No other classes have their LFGs filled? I’m guessing you are playing on NA, right? Because yes, in EU there’s plenty of elitist LFGs with “We want X and Y only”, but if the dungeon is popular I’ve never experienced the LFG not filling up when you make one yourself.
Popular dungeons: CoF, CoE, SE, AC
Dungeons that are quite unpopular but I never seen “we need X” on them: TA, CM
Dungeons that are not run as often as they’re sold and I can justify needing X: Arah.
My two favorite characters that I mostly run are a necro and an elementalist and I had no problems getting into dungeons. If there’s no LFG that would want me, I make one myself
enjoyed the beta of a certain upcoming game, eh? Sure, why not, seems like a fun thing to do.
Which game would that be?
I would be very interested in seeing this concept in game. I remember marriage being possible in Perfect World and I always considered it very sweet.
There’s also a voluntary sub fee and to identify dyes costs gems. Oh and you have to be level 45 to enter any kind of PvP. And dungeon exp has been reduced severely, crafting exp removed completely.
“1 in 4 children in America grow up without learning how to read.” If it is 1 in every 4, that would equate to 25%. Is it bound to be 100% accurate, prob not, but that’s still a heck of a lot. Considering the improvements, it should be no where near that high.
I followed your links and then I went on to check the links in their references. The one talking about 25% only had a reference where it was being talked about New York city.
And have to have warning labels not to use blow dryers in the shower. Kind of relative aint it? We may simply need to agree to disagree here.
If something is not stated. No matter how obvious it may be someone can have a lawsuit against you. Hence the labels. You should not need to label that nuts contain nuts, but not labeling it is a sure fire way for someone to get rich off you. Blame capitalism.
As for getting along better and less discrimination, I’d say that’s rather debatable….
Really? So ability to vote to women, ability to have no income gap between blacks and whites, all of that nice stuff is debatable?
Some players, most actually, vary between very little or completely non-competitive. If you ask them why they play you will get two responses: ‘Because it’s fun’, or ‘Because it’s cool’, which basically mean the same thing. You will never get the response ‘Because I’m good at it.’ or ‘Because it’s challenging.’.
Well that’s me. Not a single of my characters are berserker because I simply couldn’t survive. I tune in to play new content, not to grind.
Being fun or cool is a combination of all the aesthetics (real and imagined) which happen as a result of the players interactions with the game. The gameplay is driven by the player. In other words the player has an aesthetic experience as the result of his gameplay decisions. The animations drive these aesthetic experiences, the sounds drive these experiences, the responses of the NPCs, Mobs, and environment drive these experiences. And yes, additionally, the varying mechanics of the gameplay drive the experience. The experience is the whole of the parts.
never has my experience been enhanced by aesthetics in a game. I don’t care much for graphics and I don’t see how a prettier dodge animation would make it better. It would just add to the mountain of particle effects that are making it hard to see.
A) No, those new animations would not add anything to the gameplay, but they would add a great deal to the experience, to ‘fun’ and ‘coolness’.
I would object. I would say that an overly animated experience with particle effects detracts from what you’re doing and makes it harder to see what you should be focusing on.

My mesemer, Tik Tak Tot
She is sooo cute
and
Your Sylvari is exceptional…nice work.
thank you ^^
A) Dodge should both visually and mechanically vary between professions and builds.
What’s the point if extra animations will add nothing to the game?
B) It should work with, rather than negating, the stat system
What do you mean?
C) Bosses and mobs mechanics which require the use of dodge should require more than just timing, and have more tactile affects upon successful use. If what the player is required to learn is interesting to him or her, he or she will learn it. If all they are required to memorize is different timing for each attack, they will never learn.
What else should it require if not only timing? Direction?
Are you really suggesting to have the same timing for all bosses? Timing the dodge is really not hard. Picking up timing of every each boss is really not hard either. In fact I’m yet to see a game where all bosses are timed in the exact same way.
I never stated that dodging can’t be fun, I stated that it isn’t in this game, and this game alone. Dodging doesn’t need to be removed it needs to be revamped so players feel compelled to use it because it is enjoyable rather than forced to use it to stay competitive.
1. How do you make dodging enjoyable?
2. What’s difficult or unfun about the dodging as it is?
It’s a very easy mechanic. You press the button, your character dodges in the direction that they’re facing. The only problem I have is when there’s a lot of people (like the Knights fights) there’s going to be skill lag, so you have to press dodge slightly prematurely. But after the first time of timing it right you know how to time it later.
I was avoiding the wiki, since anyone can edit.
http://www.dosomething.org/tipsandtools/11-facts-about-literacy-america
http://www.proliteracy.org/
http://www.literacypartners.org/literacy-in-americaJust a few I’ve browsed.
Followed the nice line of articles quoting other articles.
http://www.literacypartners.org/literacy-in-america 25% of New Yorkers are illiterate. Not Americans.
http://www.scilearn.com/blog/low-literacy-united-states.php according to this most of the problem comes from immigrants coming from less well off countries. Having in mind that it wouldn’t be unusual to find an African in a tribe that only would score an IQ test of 40 that’s not surprising.
http://www.proliteracy.org/the-crisis/the-us-crisis 30 million read worse than a third grader, but they still read. Even though this would be considered illiteracy, 30 million out of 200 is not 25%.
Just because someone has formal education doesn’t make them intelligent. Just because they don’t doesn’t make them stupid. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating for less formal education by any means; however, there have been many a successful businessman that dropped out and went their own way. Conversely, there are plenty of high school and college graduates that couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag if you held their hand….
Having less education doesn’t make the nation smarter. You’re looking at a time where it was considered healthy to purge yourself by swallowing lead and are calling those people smarter than the 21st century.
The colorism was in and of itself its own issue. It’s still its own issue. However, looking beyond that yes, society was extremely different. Again, discounting the colorism issue, yes people had more respect for each other, were polite to one another, etc. Hell, we had more of this 15 years ago even, but as time progresses we lose more and more of it. Children are no longer taught to respect their adults, hell adults don’t even respect other adults anymore. We can completely forget about any type of responsibility or sportsmanship anymore it seems. Perhaps people are still just turning their cheek, ignoring it and waiting for it to ‘go away,’ but issues rarely solve themselves. It can be seen in our online interactions, in our every day real life interactions.
Yet we get a long better, live longer, know so much more, discriminate less and have a better law system.
I think that you’re looking an an age that you haven’t even lived in trough rose tinted glasses.
Again, you’re referencing the few, not the many. Only a small percentage of people actual posses the intellect to achieve the necessary technology you’re looking at here. Sure, the world is speeding up. We have powerful computers at our finger tips, yet 25% of American children grow up without learning to read. Seems contradictory doesn’kitten
1. Same was in Victorian Era. More people are educated right now then they were back then. Education is becoming more and more important as time goes by. Only very small percentage of people were anywhere near intelligent.
2. Countries by their literacy rate:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_literacy_rate
I have no idea where you took that 25% from.
3. http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090201021247AAistKW
you’re calling people smart, event though most of them did not even have more than the basic understanding of science.
I was thinking virtues along the lines of – patience, tolerance, honesty, kindness, respect, forgiveness, and compassion. Yes, there are still a lot of people that possess these qualities, but in the last 10-15 years not so much.
Common sense… not so common anymore. I mean really, warning labels exist because someone (probably a lot of someones) did exactly what the label says not to do.
I take a look at society, and the way people act and treat each other now vs 10, 15, even 20 years ago (mind you, I’m only 30) and it’s appalling. Its disheartening. It makes me want to walk up to some people, cuff them upside the head, and ask them if their mother raised them in a barn.
You you think that in a world where it was okay to discriminate against black people and women there was more kindness, forgiveness, respect and tolerance?
I don’t think it’s okay; you may either go and play a single-player game then, or rather start smoking or drinking alcohol as these hobbies are just as relaxing and challenging.
I’m going to state two things here:
1. A lot of the times it’s single player games that are made to appeal to the hardcore audience. See Dark Souls or millions of rogue alikes out there if you need an example. You’ll rarely see a hard MMO out there. And most of the times they won’t exactly stick with the western audience (See Wizardry online. European and American servers are closing, even though the game is doing really well with the Asian audience)
2. If someone wants to relax you should not be suggesting them to harm themselves. You can relax playing a game or watching a movie far better than killing yourself with alcohol and cigarettes.
ac
There’s nothing elitist about that. What’s elitist is demanding that everyone who isn’t as good as you or doesn’t know as much as you stay off of the LFG tool.As I’ve said before pugs are pugs. Why don’t the “elitist” join a guild and run with them? There are speed running guilds out there, just don’t ask them for help with a jumping puzzle.
Even in the original post there’s no hint of anyone telling the OP to stay off the LFG. The OP is simply mad about the amount of LFGs asking for a certain amount of AP or a certain level. I personally (just like many people here), don’t see anything wrong with it, because the OP is free to start his own LFG. This topic for the most part is just a friendly discussion.
The statement was simply that, a statement. There have been several studies into the matter. Does it mean that there aren’t still smart people? Not at all. However, Einstein and his ilk were rarities, not the rule. Today, really smart people are still rarities, and seem to becoming more so due to the general nature of society (general loss or lack of common sense, loss of basic virtues, etc). It was not intended as an insult to those that are smart, nor was it ‘glorifying’ anything. It was simply a statement regarding the general population.
Well you are always free to post links to those said studies, because that’s not what I’m seeing
people are reaching incredible heights. We are talking about warp technology, about colonizing planets, about artificial body parts that you can control as if it’s part of your body. The world is speeding up.
I would also question the loss of basic virtues. It depends what virtues every single person considers relevant does it not? For example in my great-grandmother’s single pregnant women would suicide. Simply because they would be ridiculed and thrown out of their village anyway. I don’t consider single mothers to be a bad thing. I grew up in a separated family and in my opinion single parents can give enough to a child to grow them up to be a normal adult. The same way that I don’t consider living as a couple without marriage to be bad. For some people though marriage is holy. They would doom other said people.
If I was to list all the things that I like and dislike we would probably disagree somewhere. I believe that age doesn’t mean that you have more credibility than a young person, in my opinion both should be judged on their words and actions and not age, I have never seen nationalism or being proud of your country, sex, skin colour as a good thing, even though some people would insist that a mixed society is going to doom us all… There are as many views as there are people. But these views say nothing of our intelligence. We can be such opposites that we would hate each other. However we both can be one of the smartest people in the world.
It has been shown that the human IQ has slowly been lowering since the Victorian age.
No. Just no. Bad statement. Insults a whole bunch of physicists, engineers, researchers, etc. Also glorifies the poor class in Victorian Era that weren’t even allowed education.
Would it really be bad if a message popped up that clearly said “Condition reflected” every single time you used a condition on one of the Knights?
I can’t really think of a good reason why not.
You can’t change the stupid. You tell people that conditions are reflected, they tell you “well sorry, some of my skills have conditions!” and continue using them. No matter how obnoxious you’ll make the warning those people that don’t get it right now, will not get it then either.
I agree, it’s the most infuriating thing in game for me.
A clear perfect example is Temple of Grenth.
Here’s what noobs do:
-Rush toward Grenth and DPS him
-Get immediately downed either from:
a.) Wraith aoes
b.) Grenth Shadow Storm (drop aoe)
c.) Ice Storm
-Heal aimlessly while another wave of icicles finishes him off
-And often, stand next to Jones which spawns icicles, eventually killing himHere’s what pros do:
-kill the wraiths first
-Grab the debuff
-Rush toward Grenth and DPS him, also making sure to tag all mobs in vicinity in case of needing to rally
-Kite/LOS him near the altar and far in the back to prevent luring even more Shadows
-Dodge all Shadow Strikes and Ice Storms
-If downed (which you eventually will once you reach 25 stacks), tag the Ice Elementals since they are easy to kill and kill themselves when they reach the target player
At one point I was this noob too. Quite late into my playing experience as well, because I just never felt like doing Grenth. And to be honest unless someone is explaining on the map chat (which likely they’re not going to) the only way to learn is to try it yourself. 5 minutes of fail and you know the mechanics. Nothing wrong with that.

As a person with high AP:
- a lot of the times I’m in a helping mood. I know which dungeons are easy where I can drag people trough no matter their level or AP. There’s a lot of people like me, hence not every lfg requires AP. Try creating LFG yourself as well. If you titled it “new players run” even I bet you would get plenty of people wanting to join you
- sometimes you’re really just very tired. You have 10 or 15 minutes to play and all you want is a smooth run. AP does not guarantee a smooth run, but it increases your chances of one. I still remember getting stuck on CoF P1 last boss with 3 people bellow 1K AP that could not do damage, because all of them were wearing berserker, but couldn’t dodge, so they just wiped themselves immediately again and again and again despite my efforts to help them. I told them that if they can’t handle being squishy that even though it’s not the meta they should go with armour that has some toughness or vitality. I was told that I don’t know what I’m talking about. One of them rage quit, a warrior with 7K AP joined and we two manned the boss just fine. The key there was to stop trying to help them. When I have memories like that of course if I want a fast run I’ll ask for experienced people.
So don’t take it personally. There’s nothing wrong with you or your girlfriend. It’s just that we’re all working people and sometimes we simply don’t have time. However like I said, don’t be afraid to create an LFG yourself.
The only character that I ever use food on is my condi sylvari. She’s not my main, but she’s the only one high up the fractals.
Besides fractals and perhaps arah there’s no content where you would absolutely need a damage buff. I bet that the only reason we even need a damage buff for the knights is because people have not figured out the perfect counter for them (and probably will not, because it’s temporary). What am I talking about? Look at Tequatl. I remember when Tequatl came out everybody demanded buff food and undead potions. Hell you could make quite a profit running Arah once, using the tickets to buy potions and selling them. They ended up being like 4 silver each. And those days we would barely make it even with buffs. And team speak. And perfect organization. Now? Drop into a server that’s used to it and you’ll see plenty of unbuffed people with pretty much nobody on teamspeak, hacking it away and killing it with 6 minutes or so to spare.
In fact I would claim that a lot of times both food and potions are completely useless. They are not required anywhere so you mights as well not bother getting them.

They need to scale all of these fights down (including Tequatl and the worms) to be doable by groups as small as 30 (yet still be challenging)
Worm and Tequatl I don’t worry about as much. When my server gets organized again we’ll be able to do it once a week. My main problem with Knights being as they are is that they’re temporary. There’s no real time to organize a server to do it once a week.
[Event] Frustrations with Knight fights.

Thank you for reporting this, we realize that is is difficult to get full maps during non peak hours or that it is hard to get a full overflow to coordinate for these fights, we are currently working on easing the difficulty of the Assault Knight fights to better allow servers to participate in the Hologram Fight.
Would that mean that you’ll descale it slightly?
I would say that 90 people is what Underworld gets normally but the last time it was only 70 or so during peak. 50 on red, 10 on green and 10 on blue.
GW2community has barely any members.
sick and tired of not downing the knights? Of never doing Tequatl? Or not managing to do the 3 Worms?
I’m trying to be a part of the solution. I created an EU guild called “Open World Event Organization”. My purpose is to collect enough active people, to select a server and to do the events that need a lot of people often. Knights daily, world bosses at least weekly. Whisper me in game if you want to join.
I have been having the issue of seeing entire guilds moving to Seafarer Rest for wvw, and saying our community is dead, I see far too many nice people being limited in their game experience because due to shortage except at 1 peak hour, LS is impossible, forget running any dungeon that gets contested without guesting, and wurm+teq tittles are unnatainable until a guild decides to rally with 2-3 others guilds to do it.
Yet I’m considering staying in UW due to the amazing community I have over there, and for actualy meeting players I’ve played with before constantly.
I’d most certainly love to embrace a few more player with actual ambitions torwards the content of the game.
And yes, we’re terrible at wvw, I can only appeal to the possibility to teach an entire server how to do it, while we’re at the lowest tier and having “very high” population.
We certainly do not lack the will to do it.
Exactly how I see it. There’s lots of good people here and that’s why I’m not leaving, even though pretty much my entire guild moved to FSP. What we lack though is people and organization.
