So you haven’t met a single person with a two handed weapon in this game?
Reminder that the game has been out nearly two years and all we’ve gotten is a dungeon (fractals).
and the living story
and southsun cove
and various improvements such as the lfg system
and a remade TA path
and the worms raid in Bloodtide Coast
and a completely different Tequatl
and various PvP maps, including one new WvW map
I’m fortunate. All I had was wintersday skin that I wore as a full outfit anyway and the quaggan hat that’s now an armour skin, which I use often and really like. I would actually like for them to make the tops and bottoms into armour pieces, just like they did with the quaggan hat.
WvW is really hard for me to get into because
It’s a never ending zerg. It might be better for me if it was timed and lasted like 2 hours or something (that’s why I liked Edge of the mists). At the moment it kind of feels like it lacks a goal. I would prefer to play something like Alterac Walley and not Planetside 2 in a more traditional fantasy setting if you know what I mean?
sPvP… Lacks modes. It always has to do something with points, except for one map where it’s just zerg in the middle to score more kills. It’s never king of the hill, fetch the flag, etc.
Actually, the more gold there is in the game, the more expensive items become right? As for the super-rich TP traders, what can you do? The 1% exists even in real life.
60% tax on anyone that’s super rich.
I know people that have 30 000 gold and gladly manipulate it. Gold has been taken out of f the economy, but as long as 1% are there prices will continue to rise instead of falling.
it’s level 60 karma gear -_-
level 60 masquerade looks exactly like this, level 80 looks different.
1. For the upcoming few months the prices will continuously go up, due to people rushing to get their legendary.
2. After those months the prices will dip, because the supply will stay the same, but demand will fall.
Wow people keep telling me its 0. Yes I understand that but if I am only dyeing my armor why would it keep saying 0 if future charges are not going to be applied later. That is just stupid.
Ever tried to program an UI? You go with what’s more efficient and if you can get away with reusing the elements you choose to.
Why would the dye system continuously ask if I want to spend transformation charges each time I dye my armor if it doesn’t change into the system later?
Because the UI is stupid and such a lazy way of designing it was probably easier. The same holds true for free skins such as your achievement skins – it asks you are you okay with spending 0 charges.
Free—Transmutation Charges!
As part of the Black Lion support for the Wardrobe, we’re happy to provide each account with five free Transmutation Charges! Act quickly – you only have until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday April 16 to pick up your free charges!Per Arenanet. It will be chargeable soon.
And that says nothing about ever charging you money for dyeing. It’s more to compensate the PvP people that would like to wear their PvP outfits all the time.
I think that it’s a fun idea.
“does transmuting a legendary skin onto another item confer the effects as well?” yes. I gave my thief 3 fake Quips in total (my engineer is the one with the real one) and I got everything, starting from sound effects, ending with the aura with it.
“does transmuting a skin onto a legendary preserve the effects?” pretty sure that it does not. However having in mind that you’ll have the legendary skin permanently in your wardrobe, trying this experiment out will only cost you 2 charges, so you’re free to test it
Try going trough all of your characters and porting them to mists. If that doesn’t work send a support ticket.
For me mist unlock triggered when I entered my first character there, for my boyfriend nothing happened until he attempted for the fifth time on his fifth character. The unlock system is a “bit” glitchy at the moment.

For the jungle wurm
“The event to protect Gamarien as he scouts Wychmire Swamp is no longer part of the Great Jungle Wurm event chain, but it now occurs when the boss event chain is not active.”For the maw:
“Once the boss is activated, a message will appear in the meta-event UI indicating that a powerful Sons of Svanir Shaman has been spotted in the Maw. If the event chain that involves protecting Scholar Brogun as he investigates the grawl tribe is not active at this time, it will begin immediately.”“If the event to destroy the dragon totem has succeeded when the boss is not activated, Scholar Brogun will declare victory and return to Krennak’s homestead without fighting the shaman.”
It sounds like Brogan’s event is like Gamarien’s. It can activate and he does his thing independent of the Maw event.
That is quite silly and causes a lot of confusion. I remember I did the chain leading to the maw on FSP yesterday and we spawned the shaman, but there wasn’t enough of us, so because the timer is there we decided to pick up a few people and organize on Underworld. The difference was about 7 minutes (took us a bit to understand that we won’t have enough time to deal the damage), so we hopped servers, activated the event chain and by that point the shaman was just outside the window therefore it failed. If we would have known that we would have invested time still attempting it on FSP somehow. Perhaps prevent those events from triggering if the boss isn’t in the window?
glitched display of stats:
most of my characters get shown as having 1000 power, yet that’s less than what they gain from armour and rune sets. They do decent damage, however it looks as if rune, armour and sometimes weapon sets stats do not get displayed
Missing dailies:
dailies when they got merged, got squashed down. Less to choose from
Implementing boss timers, but not the megaserver at the same time:
Maw in Underworld failed, not because we ran out of time, but because the timer ended on a different server
Glitched bosses:
shadow of behemoth for example is unkillable because the portals spawn as friendly
the new UI:
Eeeeh. Eeeew!
trait changes:
leveling new alts is going to be a pain, so I won’t bother anymore.
There’s things that I like in the update, but for now all of the glitches are ruining it for me. The waypoint prices got increased, but I can’t make money, because by the time I log in there’s no more dungeons being run, so I can only do world bosses, but they’re really glitchy at the moment! Maybe I’ll wait a few weeks until everything hopefully gets fixed.
Dungeon path limiting. That’s so awful! Well I suppose no running anything besides Arah now. Because what’s the point of doing anything than the most profitable one? Before you could have done 3 runs of CoF or two runs of AC to get the same amount of money and waste the same amount of time. Now? Nope, one path of Arah. That makes me want to quit to be honest. I enjoyed doing dungeons. Oh well. Wildstar here I come! (And World of Warcraft instead of Guild Wars 2 for now)
(edited by Mirta.5029)
The new monthly system is just essentially both monthlies merged, but when they merged the daylies there’s suddenly less of them? I don’t get the logic behind it. I know though that I’m more likely not to do the daily and even not to play that day than I am to play what I don’t like. I really hope that it’s a glitch. Most other things were very glitchy after all.
well the moment the update hit mine decided to be 6/8 and I got no reward O_O
My characters lost a bunch of power after the update, so I decided that something might be up. Exchanged runes from condition damage to power and the power stat did not go up at all. Armour stats in general are adding power incorrectly.
edit: while attacking they seem to do the correct amount of damage, but the power on the equipment panel doesn’t show up properly.

To those who are arguing against compensation of any type, why? What does it matter to you?
it affects the economy.
I wish I bought the game as a box copy, rather than digital sometimes. I’d love to look at it and just be like, “ahh, guild wars 2”
every time when there’s a game that I really want and they release a collectors edition worth buying I buy it. That’s why right now I can move my head and stare at Rythlock’s statue. I still have the full big game box in the storage room as well
Wasn’t to long ago I could walk into a GameStop and the whole right wall was nothing but PC games. Now the right, left, back wall and a few carts are nothing but console games… PC games gets maybe one side of a cart way in the back.
Maybe if places like GameStop would put some focus into selling PC games they might sell some of them.
while PC has more players it also has moved to be pretty much all digital (thanks to trustworthy sites such as steam), therefore it wouldn’t make much sense for them to sell PC games, though I do miss the big boxes from early 2000s when you could find game art in your box without buying a collector’s edition.
it can be anywhere from 30 minutes from now to 5 hours and 30 minutes from now. My clock at the moment says 17:21. Patches most commonly hit for me at 18:00 or 21:00, but once or twice it was at 23:00
Blocking doesn’t work however, they have all our names in their database, they will just use a different account and spam you again. And reporting them won’t do alot either, it’s an endless race and the spammers are always one step ahead. So no it’s still not a valid option cause it’s a temporary band-aid.
that temporary band aid is the only thing you and developers can do. If it makes you feel better though the reported accounts will either be given back to their proper owners, or terminated as some are actually bought by gold sellers, therefore it makes them lose money. Just keep blocking and reporting. Plus is it really that bad? At most I get a whisper couple of times a week and a mail like once a month. It’s far worse on other MMOs.
Legend waaaapon, aimglesh mucho’s…i had one of these aswell. Blocking is not a valid option though, so stop insisting it is.
blocking and reporting is the only thing you can do. So yes, it is a valid option.
But let’s say that there are more account wide unlocks of a particular type of content as opposed to another type of content (ie: dungeons vs new zones), wouldn’t that give the devs more information on the type of content that people actually want?
I mean, like everyone else I wouldn’t want to be ripped off, but if the pricing is fair wouldn’t this make the playerbase happier?
Not really. Look at DLC games (like for example Call Of Duty), when it’s a DLC and not a full expansion less of the game population will buy it. What will happen is that a small percentage of players own the ability to enter each new dungeon. Because it’s not an expansion most people will go “Oh I like that dungeon, but not buying that one, because I don’t like this theme of it”, meaning that let’s say 6% of the population has access to a new specific dungeon. How will LFGs go for them?
No. I know it’s odd but it just feels like being ripped off when company sells you one map at a time. I’m against small DLCs having in mind that they normally overcharge you. Then some DLCs are expansions in digital form and I don’t mind that. In other words I’m okay with paying for expansion’s worth of content and paying as much as expansion normally is worth at retail price (compared to other MMOs expansion price), I’m not okay with paying several pounds for every single dungeon, jumping puzzle, new map, etc.
If someone hacked your account and sent off your gold, wouldn’t it make sense to send all of it?
depends how much he had. If you mail 200G or more your mail gets stuck and then your account gets investigated for gold selling.
Stacking isn’t the problem. The problem is that some people expect scripted A.I. to be as challenging and exciting as fighting another human being of equal or greater skill. At first it is. Then you figure out fight mechanics and it devolves into whatever is the most efficient way to do things. The reason to continue playing dungeons is for the loot and for the company. That is all.
Well it can be. Take a look at Overgrowth. The A.I. learns from previous encounters and adepts.
what might have happened is a security breach. If you were stopped from buying gems did they tell you why? Was there any purchases logged that you haven’t done? Are you absolutely sure that your account was logged into only from your location?
It’s either
1. A mistake on your part. In that case, I’m sorry, but it’s not their fault
2. A security breach and someone used your account to send that gold off most likely to be sold somewhere. Just in case I would suggest changing your password and adding the phone authenticator for GW2 just in case you haven’t already done so.
The mega server system will only cover some areas with the 15th patch though.
I forget what they changed their decision to regarding which servers.
all servers will be affected, it’s just that they won’t start from the starting zones, but rather from the least populated zones.
Yea I just started playing on “Northern Shiverpeaks” America and can only say that it is about as dead as I’ve seen a mmo… And I tried rift back in the day.
I mean, it’s so bad that I’m surprised when I see anyone else. Now, to be honest out of the 3 or 4 days I’ve been playing I finally saw a group of maybe 10 people standing around a dungeon I guess. And I occasionally see someone when I’m at the bank or out and about.
This lack of a player base is making it impossible to do some of the tougher events. I’m surprised that this game is so dead, yet they don’t allow you to jump servers without paying for it… That just sucks.
I read something about them changing the way the servers work? I sure hope so. I really like the game from what I’ve seen, but man what’s the point of playing a mmo if you’re the only one around 90% of the time.
Like that one guy mentioned, even though I like the game, I’m not sure I’d recommend it because it’s a “Massive —>multi<-- user online game”, without the users.
1. I’m pretty sure that you’re either on on the off peak times or exaggerating. I’ve been on one of the worst servers in EU and there was quite a lot of people in Gendarran Fields, even though we did struggle with world bosses.
2. You can just the servers completely free if you just delete all your characters. Or simply earn 100-200 gold or so (depending on where you want to jump) and turn that into gems.
3. Mega server system is getting rolled out on the 15th.
1. Try games closer to WoW. Maybe those will hit home? I found Wildstar to be very interesting and pre-purchased it, because it mixes what I love from GW2 (such as action combat, no real trinity, etc) with WoW things (20 to 40 man raids, fun battlegrounds, traditional questing system)
2. Now as for GW2, try different classes and perhaps change the server to a more populated one? If the server is in gold or silver league in WvW it’s likely to be full of people. This being a casual MMO it’s pretty much no gear grind. For your end game you can do dungeons, fractals, WvW, PvP, world bosses and then there’s living story updates that on the first season were quite frequent (every 2 weeks). At the moment we’re on a break from the Living Story. The next update is on April 15th, which will change a lot of things (mostly concerned with quality of life, some connected to leveling) and we’re promised a grand announcement on the same day (likely to do with the next living story season). But unlike WoW this is a less stressful MMO. You won’t fall behind. You turn it on, play with your friends, maybe move more towards your long term goal and then turn it off. I personally like it this way. When I have a lot of time I can play more than one game at the same time. When I have little time, this is god sent.
i use the crytek engine, it can be quite a pain at times (especially with textures >_< )
I’m on a computer games design university course and trough out all of our first year we were forced to use unity. Oh unity is painful. Collisions sometimes don’t work just because unity doesn’t feel like it. Then you find yourself traveling around all problems by using the silliest round about methods to get everything to work.
Now imagine doing a run with people who, sometimes, find difficult even stacking, right now you can carry them anyway if everyone is in the right corner… but what if we are forced to run dungeons in the proper way?
Would you spend your time wiping 3-4 times, per path, doing Alpha daily?
Would you spend your time wiping 3-4 times, per path, doing Kholer daily?
Are you running a guardian? Because I found out that carrying pugs is hard because they stack. Take the spider in AC or Alpha. Your party is full of either low AP god knows what traits warriors, or full of squishies, or full of low levels (well in Ac’s case anyway) and they go “stack”. Then they immediately wipe. They go “stack” again. Wipe. Then they start raging “this worked in all the other groups I’ve been in!”. Then (if you’re the opener this is a lucky situation) they leave and you can pull in an experienced player and actually clear content. I think that if people insist using the stacking with nubs in their team they should teach them exactly why stacking works. Tell warriors how to maximize damage and how to dodge at the right times when there’s nobody to lessen the damage dealt to them. Teach guardians how to cast blocks on their party.
1. Constant trials? The trials are only like once every few months and to be honest they’re not constant enough. I can’t just tell my friends to flat out buy the game, because I don’t know whether they would like it or not, but the trials are so rare that I even miss the chance to inform them sometimes.
2. What server you’ll choose will make the game look like night and day. On Underworld (EU) the population is very poor and WvW is non existent. I recently transfered to Far Shiverpeaks with my guild. WvW has queues. Queues! And Gendarran Fields (the map that is currently hosting the main city) has an overflow on it.
You see the game is 2 years into its life cycle and through out those years the population has flocked to the more popular servers. Leaving some very empty, others very full. It happens in every MMO.
Well Cryengine is free to use (they will charge you a percentage if you earn less than 2 million a year with the game that you make, if you make more than that you also have to pay a flat out fee, which is all good) and a lot of MMOs just release on that.
Having in mind that Anet is working with an old GW1 engine, just greatly improved I would rather Assassin’s Creed engine was set to public, because it has wonderful parkouring mechanics. Though unfortunately they won’t do that.
True, I could do this. But newbies don’t stay newbies forever, and they will learn that stacking means getting through dungeons faster and more efficiently. So you see, the problem will always persist. I’m for the hope that the mechanics will change for boss encounters to avoid this.
Suggestion – boss damage unblockable and X10 if all players are in the same 0.5 square meters. Or even better – player collision, means that standing on the exact same tile is impossible.
Did you notice how one of the alpha’s aoe’s that he spawns is ice in the middle and others are rock in the middle? (Rock in the middle is actually safe to stand in, you don’t even need to dodge). I remember when stacking was fresh I used to tell the stackers to send the person with ice away (until someone goes down the same person always gets ice), but I would get the answer of “just dodge, okay?”. Alpha has some very interesting mechanics. I wish that more people would see them really.
I like the 2g my fractal 50 runs make me, I also love receiving uninfused condition rings, Thank you anet!
would you rather rings didn’t drop at all? Someone can use those rings (I’m running a condition based necro -_-) and every time when you’re dealing with RNG loot you’re not guaranteed something useful to you. The same way that even if you solo raids in WoW the gear that will drop is likely to be the wrong class for you to wear it.
I would rather you could buy ascendeds with a ticket system (pristine relics) too, I don’t like RNG, however a lot of players were complaining that no loot drops that make them feel like a special butterfly in a dungeon take away the excitement at the same time as Anet was trying to make crafting extra important and because of that we have this RNG mess in the first place.
well besides the pristine relic which dosent matter much if i already got all the rings. The frags i could care less for they already drop at a high rate. The only thing you are guaranteed to get is 1 gold. Which is less then most dungeons and it takes longer to do a fractal so even the 1 gold is sad.
What i mean is how many high level fractals do i have to do before finely getting a fractal wep or a chest? Past 30 or so fractals i didn’t even get a ring. When i do get a ring it just takes inv slots. Anet has done nothing to make excessive rings useful.
Well that’s RNG. It’s not like you’re not getting anything useful, you’re just not getting anything useful to you.
What do you mean you get nothing? Do you literally get 0 drops trough the fractal? Do you not get a daily chest with your gold? What exactly are you not getting?
Never do it with sigils for profit. Every time when I earn a hundred gold or so, I feel the need to throw like 20G on sigils, because I’ve had some luck with that previously. Normally all you get are account bound 3 silver worth sigils and all you get back is like 20 silver. Then you feel sad.
3. Armor clipping on anything not a human (female but that is up for debate)
The only race with real bad armour clipping is charr. Every other race sees very little of it. I main an asura, my second favorite is my sylvari and I’m not experiencing any clipping problems.
4. Skills freaking out or the skill just cancels itself out altogether (go on a Warrior and hit Rush and Blade Trail at the same time)
Skills are not supposed to do themselves in a row. If you press two things at once the game assumes that you want to cancel the first one.
6. I still see people randomly DCing in Dungeons.
And you know that it’s not their Internet experiencing a hickup how?
This game is a shadow of its former self when it comes down to PvP/WvW combat. It seems from what I see all about luck and numbers vs actual skill like in GW1.
Arguably GW1 was about the player not the build, and now it seems the exact opposite for GW2. And with all of these things being broken or defective, it makes it near impossible to have a fight with someone without having the thought that maybe you won because his stuff bugged out, or you lost because you saw yer key skill not work or too even have casual fun with your character and finding out you spent 100+g on armor skins and they are clipping because you aren’t a human and the preview doesn’t give you an accurate demo for non human races.
GW2 is actually more about player skill. All you would do previously is collect all the right skills, stand there and cast. Here you have to know when to dodge, when to heal, when to use evasive abilities, etc.
step 1: get a commander
step 2: join a squad.
Your guildies should now be green dots
Improved them. Added more maps, added instabilities, etc.
There’s not much you can do if parts of the game don’t interest you.
- I’m sitting on 10K achievement points because I actually enjoyed the living story, but if it’s not for you, it’s not for you
- got involved in my world’s WvW quite a lot. My world is simply sinking, so I dropped the PVE even though I’m normally a PVE only person, but if you don’t find it interesting then you don’t.
Did you try climbing fractals? I enjoy doing that. Especially having in mind that a lot of old living story dungeons became fractals.
After April 15th, would you be interested in revisiting areas of the game to unlock the extra 40 traits that every single class will get? Because that’s something to do.
Other than that wait for Living Story season 2 and see if it adds anything permanent that you enjoy. In other words take a break from the game. This is a casual MMO, it’s made to make sure that people don’t have to play every single day.
(edited by Mirta.5029)
Look at the server list. If you are guesting a lot you notice that quite some server went from “very high” to “high” there recently
Rather if what you’re seeing is that previously bronze servers fell in numbers, what happened was a massive migration to silver.Because migration is spread across a few servers, instead of being concentrated into one, it’s quite possible that none of the servers that got an influx of people went to full, but that those where people ran away from went down to medium, though I don’t think that the server list reflects reality really well. For example Underworld simply died. It’s very much a medium server that we’re desperately trying to revive, but it’s still listed as very high, even though we lost all of our major guilds in the last mass running.
Besides the stupid migration out of bronze servers due to WvW, the game at the moment is on a slower patch. What I mean by that is that the current living story has ended and that we’re waiting for the April 15th update. Afterwards there’s going to be another slow patch before Living Story season 2. So expect to see a lot of people (especially with megaservers) on April 15th and a few weeks after it, because people will be rushing to do all the content to unlock all the traits. Later expect another drop out until we get new content. In my opinion the fluctuation is normal. Look at the drop out that World of Warcraft used to have between expansions (by now it’s actually seriously dying, but before people used to just fluctuate), we’re seeing the exact same thing, except on smaller intervals (GW2 content comes in smaller chunks, but more often, meaning that when living story was up I would see the game alive for about 4 days, slowed down for the next 10), which I like, because we never seen this game as dead for 6, 8 months while the new expansion would be in production.
TLDR, it’s a combination of a break in between living story seasons and server migration. Nothing to worry about.
Go pistol/pistol and full power toughness vitality. There you go. Survivability has gotten a lot easier.
Want to know what feels worse than a thief survivability wise?
elementalists, mesmers (seriously though, mesmer has one speed up if you go sword sword and one condi removal. You can walk around crippled for days. And their downed 2 is god kitten awful).
Want to know what feels worse damage wise?
Try being any other engi except the squishiest kind and deal any damage
Try being a power necro and deal any damage, or a condi necro and get your ticks on anything, because if you’re in a zerg and there’s warriors putting bleeds left and right it’s impossible.
Really though before complaining about your class try all the others. Warrior is the to go meta. don’t compare yourself to a warrior. Except for guardians, everything else is worse than a warrior and harder to play.
Also don’t complain about survival when you spec squishy.
1 Ranger – kitten that pet heal is powerful. I’ve seen a ranger heal himself up and finish running in the Thaumanova reactor cooling rod room.
2 Elementalist, love the ability to move anywhere!
3 Guardian, love that AoE heal, can put more than one person back on their feet
4 Necromancer – with 4 you heal, with 1 you still heal while doing damage and your 3 makes the damage of 1 so much more!
5 Thief – invisibility is fun!
6 Warrior – vengeance is alright, until you accidentally hit it while in a dungeon and can’t kill anything. Then you just wrote yourself a death sentence
7 mesmer, that teleport, not only does it put you in a random place but it’s activation is awkward too. You press it to get out of danger, someone starts reviving you and look! Your cast time has finally finished and only now do you go into that lava pit!
8 engineer – simply doesn’t have any great utility while downed.
