There shouldn’t be 100+ people on those bosses, simple as that. Before megasever, it used to be anything from 1 to 40 on high pop servers, depending on the time of the day. And it was fun.

depends. If you play super late at night on EU, the last overflow won’t have sufficient amount of people anymore. My boyfriend managed to get a shatterer overflow with 6 people on it at 5 am and they simply couldn’t do it under the time limit, though they got close.

I have 9 level 80s out of which I enjoy 2… I tried giving a legendary to my alts to see if it improves my enjoyment. Nope. Though I still keep them for the various different functions that they serve.
The ones that I ended up playing often: elementalist, my main and necro my favorite alt.
I suppose I could get a feel for engineer and mesmer (maybe?)
The ones that I’ll remake as asura to see if it helps (asura is my favorite race): thief and warrior. Don’t know what’s about them that makes me dislike these two classes so much.

Tera sells it for in game gold.

ALSO for very little money(495mp); you get an additional, 72 slots. SEVENTY TWO

https://store.enmasse.com/tera/item/bankexp/bank-expansion

For 5$

Where as……… They want what… 200gems per slot? I don’t recall.

The only thing i don’t know about is the “personal guild bank” method. I do not know the costs of that.

per slot? 600 gems per bank tab. A bank tab is 30 slots. 200 gems per slot would be funny though XD

Also I don’t remember tera allowing you to trade in game money for their store currency, even though people that buy store items are allowed to re-sell them in game.

The AI and pathing of pets is broken. The Delays the minions’ abilities have make them useless for the most part. Bone Minions’ Putrid explosion STILL is bugged so that the blast finisher has a 3 second delay after the minion actually exploded.

then your main gripe is pets? So how then Engineer hit that list?
I never found necros minions that problematic, similarly as I like to run a build with stupid amount of golems on my asura, however rangers pets have a memory of a gold fish.

A lot of traits are either useless the way they currently are, or not synergizing. AT ALL.

give examples.

PvE Conditions are broken invalidating over half of our possible builds.

I run a power/ condition necro and my main is a power/ condition ele. The only place where you would get trouble with that is world bosses, everywhere else, even if there’s two hybrids in a dungeon party, we get along fine.

As for PvP, we still start with 0 Life Force, so we basically start without a class mechanic unlike all other professions.

With some proper building you can run 3 healthbars. Normal health (when you hit low on that, deathshroud) + health back up when out of death shroud. The necros I’ve seen in Spvp were very annoying on their healthpool.

because apparently, a First Person Camera is something thats far more important.

machinimas bring a lot of publicity. Plus it was such a requested feature that majority even modded it in, only to get banned for it. It was such a requested feature that reporters would ask about it in pretty much every interview. Nobody ever went “when will you fix necros?”, even though the condition limiter has been brought to light multiple times too.

Or they could just be cool like any other game and not restrict basic needs…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. Oh yeah.

FYi most other games don’t restrict slots. They just don’t give you the bags that fit in the slots. Idk why this is such a hard concept.

give free/ buy to play MMO examples. Most don’t sell bank tab expansions, but I wouldn’t call the space given sufficient in those MMOs either.

I’d rather they fix the classes Ranger Engi and Necro first like people have asked for for 2.5 years, cause that actually would be meaningful improvement instead of a purely cosmetical/gimmicky one.

how are they broken? Our strongest DPS in the guild is an engi, rangers and necros are very strong in Spvp if you build them right. The fact that there’s a PVE meta, doesn’t mean that the classes are useless, rather that they offer less support than warrior banners/ guardian walls and that they’re harder to learn.

I really really really really feel sorry for anyone who doesn’t have full bank + bag spaces unlocked. It must be a NIGHTMARE to play the game at all.

this is my bank. I have 8 level 80s and 1 level 59 at the moment. Never unlocked aditional space for any of my characters. Don’t have a banking guild. Yet for 9 characters 4 bank tabs seem just fine. Not planning on expanding that any time soon.

My bad, I mean exotic.

what level are said exotics? Are they useful to you? Or do you mean orange boxes? Because if you have champion boxes, I’d suggest opening them instead of hoarding. Not to mention silver doubloons can only be gotten by low levels, hence their TP price is 2G.

things like Linen and Wool is also super profitable for their level. Meaning that salvaging blues and greens is a good idea at low levels.

Here’s some food for thought:

Once upon a time, Bioware, with their game The Old Republic, had a press conference where the devs answered questions about future content and got suggestions from their community, how did they do this? They invited the guild leader of every guild in the game to this conference and then they live streamed the entire event to the community, where the community could submit questions live and have them answered by the devs.

This, is what I guess I was trying to have come across in my initial post. This is what I would rather see Anet do instead of doling it out to a special few people.

with people having their own 1 person guilds, every single guild leader would be hundreds of thousands of people. That’s not efficient marketing.

Pushy Guild Representation - Right or Wrong?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mirta.5029

Mirta.5029

I personally don’t feel that “I want to play with my friend” is a valid reason to represent another guild, simply because you can still play with your friend, regardless of guild tag. Do people feel that they aren’t able to party with their friend and talk to them anymore because of their guild tag? If that other guild doesn’t require 100% representation then what difference does it make anyway if you are representing us and your friend is representing another guild? You’re still friends and are still playing together.

your friend has a 4 man guild. It’s inportant for them that when they’re online, there 4 people would play with them and also use the guild chat. That said person is online for 1 hour a day and their buddies get lonely without them. Hence they have another guild to be in when their buddy is not online.

I am curious, if let’s say 95% of your members don’t represent (hypothetically), how you are able to have those players’ personalities, skill, values, etc. reflect on your guild and not whatever guild they are representing at the time.

Well it tends to not to happen because a lot of people know us as a fun bunch, therefore choose to hang out with us. We’re where the fun is at and besides, for a casual guild, if someone is in super hardcore guild, I don’t care that that persons skill set reflect the skillset of the hardcore guild and not ours. We’re not here with a purpose to be the best dungeon runners, or the best WvWers. We’re here to have fun at what we do and 90% of the time we do it in guild groups.

Pushy Guild Representation - Right or Wrong?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mirta.5029

That’s what I think people don’t understand. Some guilds are in it for numbers, influence, whatever, but others, like us, are in it to create a reputation over the many years we will be playing this game.

As a guild that does not require 100% rep, with all due respect, we’re in for the exact same thing. Except that our methods are different. If we lose people because their friend insists that they play with them, we don’t lose them for forever, they still hang out with us. We’re in to create a long lasting community with a friendly casual environment and one way to do that is to make sure that our guildies don’t feel chained to us.
The same way that we don’t have log in requirements. The idea is, by being a good guild we’ll make them want to play with us and want to log in. That’s what we strive for every day. And surprisingly enough we had pretty good results so far. There are a few guildies that are in multiple guilds, however they still drop by daily, they represent, talk with us, help out, run events and stay on our teamspeak with us. The idea is to have fun, not to raise ultimatums.
And just like you we’re a multiguild community. Just a different one at that. So no. Not only 100% rep guilds are in for the long haul and the community, not just numbers.

Thanks Mirta, for your elaborate thesis on why pseudo RNG is not the problem. Did you read anything in this thread before you started posting? Because I’ve never implied any “tampering” anywhere. If you have the knowledge to explain to me why a pseudo RNG system is not problematic for the manner in which this game uses it, I’m all ears, I truly am. But if not, please stop trolling.

okay, how about, I did games design and predetermined is not how you do it? You put at least 3 layers of random on it to begin with and I made a simple example in past pages of the thread. Please give me the code to GW2 now and show me their RNG systems and why you believe it’s pre-set.

“Because PRNGs generate random numbers by using mathematical formulae or precalculated lists, using one corresponds to someone rolling a die many times and writing down the results. Whenever you ask for a die roll, you get the next on the list. Effectively, the numbers appear random, but they are really predetermined.”

simple random system would be writing down numbers from 1 to 10 000 in a random order, using a statement to go trough all of it and pull a random number, keep that one then go trough the list again. There’s various ways of putting a randomizing system on top of another one, on top of another one in games. Rarely is it predetermined.

You haven’t read all of the site, partly because you’re not french. You looked at one section and made a conclusion when the sum total of all the trials expressed on the website is in the tens of thousands.

you’re getting insulted over a chance. Look at that guy. He tried with 7 times more rares than you and still didn’t get it. Why are you looking at averages? Averages still mean that there’s a considerable amount of people on the unlucky spectrum.

90% chance is nothing to sneeze at…

I never try such things like this. I’ts kind of the same as buying 10 000 lottery tickets and being upset over not winning the pot. Favour or not, it’s still only 0.2% a try and you can still never get it, even if you try 100 000 times. It’s not a guarantee. There’s no switch that suddenly clicks with “this account was trying for a while now”. It’s just chance. Quite silly to be angry over chance.

http://www.gw2shop.net/topic-2310-theorycrafting-precurseurs-et-forge-mystique

throwing a coin, your chances are 50% heads, 50% tails, however you could easily get heads 20 times in a row before you see tails.

Every attempt your chance does not increase. It still stays 0.2% or 0.1%. Nobody accumulates chance (you could say that the likely hood of getting tails increases if you had heads 20 times in a row, but raw chance still stays 50%, meaning that continued string of unluck is still possible) . Meaning that even if the chance was 90% you can still have bad luck. In short – the same what everyone else said. Learn how chances work.

Mini Mystical Dragon NA release?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mirta.5029

Why, and how do you assume Chinese VIP will stop playing/paying when they know NA get the mini dragon too? They probably, and very likely would keep paying.
We NA players don’t quit when we know the mini dragon is exclusive to China, so why do you assume Chinese will quit because we NA get the mini dragon too?
Is this “fairness” really that important?

And now you’re saying us NA people don’t pay sub, so we’re the “inferior players” because we probably pay less and don’t get the right to enjoy certain things. How hypocritical of you. (Also, like I said, you don’t have proof that we NA people actually spend less.)

I’m not saying that anyone will stop playing. However not only are they paying a sub for it, they don’t get any of the items from Season 1 Living Story and majority of our basic haircuts. So quit acting entitled. You want the mini? Get the Chinese version and pay a sub. Want to keep your living story stuff and your basic haircuts? Stick with the NA/EU version. Why should you get it all? Who made you (or NA for that matter) the king of the world?

Mini Mystical Dragon NA release?

Yeah, only they don’t. Considering how NCSoft’s quaterly report mentioned how much of a failure the China release was, even after ArenaNet spent all that time and energy to adapt the game to the Chinese market (or try to adapt, at least), it’s clear that ArenaNet doesn’t really know where the money is.

perhaps they shouldn’t have tried to rip the players off then eh?

So just because a few people is paying more, the rest of the NA has to sacrifice?

not a few people. The whole of China’s player base is getting straight up ripped off. Their game version is more restricted, more grindy, has less items (for example only 9 haircuts when customizing a character, no living story season 1 at all) and you have to pay more (for example for identifying dyes).

You have a lot more than Chinese players get. Now stop acting entitled. If there’s a reward for keeping your sub on for an amount of months, then they have the full right to make it exclusive.

Also Anet knows where the money is. If it was more profitable to stick to NA, then China and EU wouldn’t even have had the game.

VIP is a sub. You’re paying around 1300 gems a month for it and there’s rewards for keeping it going for certain amount of weeks/ months. Do you want that system here too? Do you want to pay 30 gems per identifying an unidentified dye? Do you want basic features removed from the game? Because that’s what China is getting. If you ask me they deserve more than just a mini.

Creating a high quality MMO costs a lot of money. Creating something like EQ1 wouldn’t be possible now. Take WildStar for example. It was advertised as a hardcore, old school raid MMO. Not only did 40 man raids lack players and was cut, the devs found that 60% of the player base played solo and the endgame offered nothing for them.

I was actually in Wildstar. It did alright but ultimately their failure was in not giving anything to PvPers. World PvP offered no rewards, people have exploited their way up the rankings early and their rank was taken away, but not their gear, meaning that now people faced a really bad gear difference in matches. They fired their PvP lead and the game had none for around 5 months. Every time an update would come some simple form of gameplay would break for weeks (for example not being able to switch skills without an UI restart) and on top of that the game is pay to play. Meaning, less updates, coupled with a monthly price, coupled with bugs has sent people away.

One thing that I do hear from former and current Wildstar players is that dungeons and raids was the one thing the game did get right. Those parts of it were amazing! However unlike here, you spend money in raids and dungeons (because they’re very hard and repairs are incredibly costly), how do you make money? The same single player dailies day in and out. And it’s not like GW2 dailies where you participate in various content. No. You’re funneled into the same zones. For days. Doing the exact same tasks.

So I don’t think that catering is what they got wrong. And I do wish them to dig themselves out of the whole that they’re in, because the combat system, the world that is there, dungeons and raids are amazing. However all the other parts are very lacking and refusal to listen to their players for a long time essentially killed it.

Though I did tell people that it would be nice if they told us if they’re leaving for longer than a month and it would also be nice if they would rep at least 60% of the time.

It’s not that 100% guilds don’t function, believe me, they can be just as good as no rep rules guild and vice versa. However different people have different needs. I have some people in my guild that are in a tiny friends guild but get lonely when their friends are not online.

do you gather? Do you salvage blues and greens or do you vendor them? What do you do with the materials that you gained? Do you do dungeons? What do you do for money?
I have never needed to spend RL money on this game. It depends on how you play. Remember that gold value is low, because there’s pretty much no vertical progression, meaning that the only thing it will be used for will be cosmetics.
And yes, it is an excuse. Unless you think that you don’t need to pay the developers monthly or keep the servers running. You can make and run a charity MMO yourself if you want though.

Mirta.5029

Ok, sure. But how 10 gold an hour? Does that actually add to 10 gold? I might have to send my brother out harvesting…

it does. Super boring way, but it does work. Peppers are 25 silver alone if you find them, if you lick a map clean it’s around 5 gold per map. Just finding rich nodes and porting alts is the fastest way, but if you have a speed build (perma swiiftness or +20% speed abilities) you can clear maps quite fast. Friendly tip, on maps like Blazeridge Stepes purple areas usually have nothing, so you run up, clean the top of the map and run down by zigzagging a bit.

If you want less boring ways, then just remember that everything makes money. Spvping makes money though it never used to, dungeons can provide a good average income, especially knowing that you can buy exotics with tokens, salvage and sell globs of ectos. Oh and flippers of the stable markets probably make more money than me. Stable markets include items where supply and demand is huge and where you can only see profit if you buy thousands out. There are such items in cloth and cooking ingredients. Not my thing though, so I don’t flip.

Anything RNG based (for example loot in Silverwastes) has a greater income potential, but unlike gathering, it’s not guaranteed.

How do you make 10 gold an hour? You said earlier you did it mining platinum. Are you using the actual pay-to-win item, the sprocket mining tool?

pay to win? What? 1000 gems is aprox 150 gold or so. You would not go trough enough picks in your lifetime to justify getting that one. It’s a poor investment if you ask me.

Platinum, iron, mature herbs for a chance of peppers and appropriate trees. Fastest fi you have many alts, locate the rich nodes and just do it that way. Maps reset every 30 minutes to an hour and there’s plenty of maps to rotate trough.

I’m mostly using the wintersday free tools boxes (got over 200 just stacked up), however even if I was using orrichalcum picks, it’s still profit.

Bag/bank space should cost gold, not gems

What is a problem is simple quality of life improvements that newer players, unless they’re willing to break out a credit card, will never be able to realistically achieve in game.

now I’m able to make 10G an hour. When the game was new that was impossible money. Money is so much easier to make now and there’s more of it circulating, meaning that more people spend more money on purchases that were worthless at the start (for example silk and linen).

So no, you’re realistically able to achieve these improvements in game.

Talking about tanky. My boyfriend made some characters of his into a pure tank. You can’t hold aggro, however if your team all fall like leaves you can get team up while standing in an aoe or getting hit by a boss. So you still have your own uses in hard content

In any way a reliable way to distract the bosses in dungeons for a few seconds would be welcome. For most you can use crowd control though (going trough 5 defiant stacks isn’t hard), but some are not crowd controllable.
