and manual aim

that’s an outright lie now. While it’s true that you can’t tab target, your shots will hone in on whatever was in the middle of your screen, which means that you’re still locked onto a player, rather than aiming yourself. And what I mean by “was” – if you shot and your target moved, your arrow, or magic spell, or whatever will make a turn mid air to still land on target. Some of those are quite sharp turns too.

More then mmo all online games that are updated at any time changes. Even offline games that are updated tend to changes now. If you do not like changes you do not like life.

kind of true. Except that for offline games you can choose not to patch

Either way, it’s okay to be upset if it ruins your playstyle, however you got to understand that no matter what the change is, someone will always stay upset. Meaning that pretty much all players will have an upsetting patch at some point. However the question is how you deal with it. In my opinion, because all online games do updates and balance changes too, the best thing is to adapt and move on. Mostly because you can run away to other MMOs. But you’ll encounter upsetting patches there too.

No, it went B2P this week. Same business model as GW2, buy the game play sub free, cosmetics in a cash shop.

The way it honestly should have been since launch.

Really it was like subscribers were paying for beta, the game is now what it should have been at launch for the most part.

Still want to see spellcrafting and the PVP side of the justice system get added for it to really be complete though.

the catch is, unless you’re subbing, you won’t get any content patches. So you either sub, or pay like 10£ every time a patch comes out. Which is not true for GW2.

yup new changes suck, WvW Frontline LOL things of the past now we stand with the backline and simply just spam virtues and shouts….YAY well time to start looking for another game. Play almost my entire gaming life GW and still consider it the best right now but if I can’t play melee then forget about. Not to mention its ALL about numbers now and now quality with these changes. Necro are now the masters of the blob….thanks Dev you killed my game!!! Killed it!!!!!!

If you don’t want the game to change, I suggest not picking up an MMO. Chances are, no matter what MMO you play, one day they’re going to have a balance patch that you won’t like. All MMOs do.

More recent TES games have sold heavily on consoles, infact they make pc sales look tiny.. you cannot mod on console.

Do they count digital sales in the statistics though? Or only boxed? Because majority of PC gamers just buy digital by now.

If I want some well written story and challenge I go with ESO, if I want non-stop action, GW2 all the way.

I found the story of ESO to be worse than any of the RPGs and even worse than Guild Wars 2’s personal story. It felt a little bit like the game thought that you won’t have the ability to concentrate on the same person for more than 10 seconds so it needs to cram as much as possible into a sentence and send you off to a completely different plot point.

Even how the game starts. Some wizard dude that we completely don’t know. We need to save him. Fair enough. However when you save him he immediately sends you off to a woman in a village, that doesn’t give you a real backstory either, but rather sends you off to perform some menial tasks and then oh no! Her village is under attack! Then you save the village and they once again bounce you off to another quest hub.

They could have benefited so much from less people in the main story, but with more time to get to know them.

I do, I’ve done pretty much everything in the game and I do it whenever I feel moved to do so. My only disappointment is in the gross lack of rewards. I am still having fun but when I see that cool skin I want and cant buy because I dont make enough gold even playing 8hrs a day it annoys me.

the key is in guaranteed rather than random. Every Spvp match guarantees 10 silver, every world boss guarantees 20 silver (1 rare), every dungeon run guarantees between 1 and 4 gold (depends on what you’re running). WvW and dungeon tokens guarantee gear. Chopping down a tree guarantees logs.

Random loot is just an added bonus.

Still I would say living story > your personal story after LA invasion.

The easy solution (IMO) would be a guild recruiting chat channel, along with guild recruiting bulletin boards in all cities and outposts. Then guild recruiting ads in map chat could be treated like the spam that they are.

yes to all of this! Now that only the chat is spam marked, but we don’t get any of that (not even a recruiting channel), it feels kind okittenward for recruiting guilds :I

You did this? Well, I’m glad they changed it then. Every time I’ve seen peps advertising their guilds repeatedly like this, I’ve done the right-click report + Spam on them. Every one of them.

Want to advertise your guild in-game? Do so in PUG dungeons, in groups you’re in during WvW and sPvP, in groups at world events. Actually talk with other gamers. Do not do a generic copy&paste advertisement that is as invasive to chat as it is annoying to view.

I got my best guildies like that. New people wanting a guild and some friends do not go “I should hop on the forums” (especially when the recruitment forum is a mess now), or "I should hop into a party! They normally read the map and go “I could join that, yeah!”
Recruiting trough dungeons is the worst idea I’ve seen suggested lol. And if you want to cut down on map spam, why not put in an LFG tool in game for guilds? Like in WoW there’s a specific tab with all the guilds advertising themselves. And you can apply trough there.

Oh noes! Don’t make the Eng have a cooldown! The horror! Won’t someone think of the children?

All I’m stating is that turret engineers are very immobile. Remove their turrets and they won’t have any utility for quite a while. There’s nothing wrong with that cooldown, however that gives a disadvantage to that build.

well each turret takes up an utility spot. Once you have it down, picking it up triggers a cooldown so they’re very much immobile. If a player kills your turrets that triggers a cooldown too. Not to mention by placing turrets you lose F1 to F4 abilities as those just become ways to overcharge and explode your turrets, which once again leaves you with no utility slots.

any chance of sale on Season 2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Mirta.5029

Expensive? It costs $17.50 for all LW-S2 chapters. There is tons of story and content related to it (plus the skin unlocks too). That is not much at all and factoring in that it came with DT and SW, it’s well worth it to pay it forward to A.Net in support of their game. Still cheaper than something like WoW’s subscription ($15 each month or no game at all), or eating out at a fast food place twice.

I do understand that. But still I assume that the expansion will be something between 30£ to 50£, so if other people got story for free for logging in, couldn’t we get at least some of it for purchasing the expansion? 200 gems a story also kind of made sense when it’s just a few chapters that you’re missing. All together, unless some discount is provided does seem a bit much to me still, sorry :/

not about to quit no matter the discount is there or not lol, it’s just that I would love to collect the whole story and well… A discount would make me do it right away

Perhaps if you pre-purchase the expansion get a certain amount of chapters for free? Or some sort of deal where if you buy in bulk, you’ll get a discount? Or something? Because I’m missing 5 episodes and 1000 gems seems a bit expensive with expension around the courner

The badges part is absolutely nothing. All you have to do for that is EotM and you can get the badges you need vastly faster than standard WvW. As for the complaints about PvEers, WvWers generally complain about the “taking up space on the map and not exactly contributing,” part. By that I mean that they’re in WvW spamming mapchat with demands of “take ____ I need the vista” and showing no consideration for what’s going on in the map or even willing to be in voice coms to work with the server. Not because they are trying for map completion, but just that those particular kinds of map completers aren’t seeking to contribute or look at things reasonably.

exactly. Hense why it’s better this way. You don’t see PvPers invading Spvp because they need that point of interest in the enemy base.

[Suggestion] Putting a CAP on Currencies

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mirta.5029

Mirta.5029

Why? You want to have thousands of dungeon tokens and millions of karma just staying there being useless? You want to hoard your currencies for no reason at all, and the developers never ever release anything new for those?

karma = gold,
dungeon tokens = gold,
fractal relics = pink items, 20 slot boxes and obsidian shards.

So far I’m at 200 000 karma and I wouldn’t want a cap on it. I’m planning on buying all the karma skins. Then completing the 100 000 drinks achievement with karma. Then going back to karma to gold conversion.

I tend to reach up to 1000 dungeon tokens before I spend them. I want to once again collect all the skins. That’s over 5000 tokens. Then it pays to try for a legendary with tokens. That would be anywhere between 800 to 1600 a try. Or you can convert them to potions. Or you can buy yellows. Or you can salvage exotics for ectos. Or you can gear up your alts.

Next time on GW2 forums:

“Remove WvW because I don’t play it”

To be honest, legendary already has a WvW part (badges) and a lot of WvWers themselves were complaining about PVEers doing map completion, because they would be taking up space on the map and not exactly contributing, making the side with more PVEers have a disadvantage.

I’ve decided to head for making the full set of luminescent armour, but I need to imbue beetles remains from Dry Top for it. Now here’s the problem. I wasn’t able to get past Prospect Valley and I can’t find any way of how I am supposed to proceed.

If to follow wiki it says:

“gather insect parts from nearby beetles is a level 80 event that occurs in the Challenger Cliffs”

getting to Challenger Cliffs: “Start from Vine Bridge Waypoint in Uplands Oasis and take the vine bridge leading southwest”

Getting to Uplands Oasis: “Start from Restoration Refuge Waypoint in Treadrock Uplands and head north then west through the canyon until you reach the oasis.”

Getting to Treadrock Uplands: “Start from Prosperity Waypoint in Prospect Valley and travel through Scarlet’s house on the west side of town. Scarlet’s Secret Room will lead players here upon completion.”

if I wiki Scarlet’s Secret Room it comes up with this: "The first thing you want to do is click on play episode in your story journal and read your newly-received mail. Then head over to the Town of Prosperity and enter Scarlet’s Secret Room.

Talk to Marjory, Kasmeer, then Taimi. Go through the hole in the bookcase. Explore the tunnel inspecting each item with a green star Storyline (interface).png. Then talk with Taimi again."

does that mean that I have to have a specific story chapter bought to be able to pass trough? I’m completely lost here. Can someone at least post a piccy of which house I’m looking for?

Newbie Here: Questions and Comments

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mirta.5029

Mirta.5029

1. “As a level 9 Ele I have no hearts to go to that are my level with the next one I can see being level 13” I believe you unlock your first chapter of personal story at level 10. To reach that level, have you collected all the waypoints? New player Experience was changed, so you can’t exactly see points of interest or vistas yet, however those give exp too. Also have you revealed all the land close to where you were leveling? All you really need is 1 more level to continue gaining exp at a good rate, so if you have indeed revealed the majority of the map and collected waypoints, then try to catch some events. No use grinding boars

2. “Are we supposed to do crafting later in the game or did I again miss something?” in your main city you should find merchants that sell salvage kits. Buy the cheapest one and salvage the gear that you can’t/ are not planning to use. That should most definitely help with gaining materials. Also exploring your main city would also grant you exp

3. “How much of those choices affect my actual in game skills and how much affects the storyline and backstory?” everything is just story related. The only thing that influences your skills is the race that you’ve picked (different races have different racial abilities) and your class.

4. “Should I save that starting gear or is it a waste of time to color it?” every time when you equip a new item the dyes reset. If you reequip the old item, the dyes once again reset. It’s not that annoying on a level 80 because you barely change your gear. Not ideal solution, but if you want to look like a rockstar while still leveling it would be an idea to spend a little bit of real cash and pick up a costume. You can find those in your hero panel → costumes. They’re also account bound, so it’s kind of an investment for all of your possible characters. IF you bought a costume you could just tick to use that as your appearance, recolour it and your appearance then wouldn’t change with each new piece of gear that you pick up. Otherwise you will either have to pick up with re-dyeing yourself, or waiting till level 80 to look awesome

WildStar is a very descent mmo and after Drop 4 population has dramatically increased and new players join every day. Patches are (at last) towards the right direction and Carbine seems to hear their playerbase. Btw since yesterday there is a 10 day trial for new and old players.

2 out of 4 servers have less concurrent players than 30 at any given time, last quarter they made a minus income, Jabbit only looks like Hazak did in Autumn, more than half the devs were fired, no queue pops while leveling, barely any dungeon and pvp queue pops when level 50 and the most required fixes were not implemented until the game started to seriously roll downhill.

I don’t think that they can pull a revival off.

No, but digital deluxe upgrade should still be on sale for 500 gems. So you could buy that for some goodies instead, assuming that you’re playing on regular edition. If you already have deluxe edition, then the only goodies that you would benefit from is the armour set. Which in itself is 500 gems. So you could just buy the armour set instead

What is your favorit party composition?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Mirta.5029

Mirta.5029

really depends on the dungeon. I think my guild found that every class serves some sort of purpose.

For example TA – Aetherblade path, if your party will be going down a lot (especially on clockheart when he throws a spinning gear on you, or throws you into the middle), having search and rescue + spirits as a secondary revive is VERY useful.

In Arah Lupi with walls > Lupi without walls (so mesmers and guardians)

majority of places, like CM and TA for example, mass invisibility is useful as helper in skipping. So thieves and engineers.

Either way, every dungeon can be cleared on any composition. But if everyone has multiple characters to choose from and try out different compositions, it’s most definitely more fun to strategise that way

Eh. 4 scrubby zerkers with a decent Ele will be able to clear most stuff before lack of skill causes issues, so I’d honestly rather have that.

lack of skill causes issues even in cof. That’s why you see zerker parties having leavers and joiners ALL THE TIME on all phases.

Skilled zerkers > all else. However that’s not that kind of skill level that 95% of the population can pull off. And in that case everyone else > no skill zerkers, as I can take a run being 5-10 minutes longer, but I won’t stand for having to solo each encounter.

there’s another way. If someone queues with you, it pulls you into the lobby. And then you can just live there until you have 80 tomes of knowledge.

[suggestion] make personal instance useful!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mirta.5029

Mirta.5029

Personal instance has so much wasted potential! It could have anything from a fully customizable house to trinkets that a lot of people would like, but wouldn’t want to see in the open world. So let me start this suggestion thread:

let us buy a dueling arena. Before you slaughter me for saying this, give me time to explain. Keeping an arena in Spvp is quite expensive as you have to pay for it daily. Why not add a permanent boxing ring like box into the gem store for lets say 2000 gems? Sure, not everyone will like it, as it’s not open world dueling, however nobody would be harassing players over it either, because following someone and telling them constantly to come all the way back to their house would be a hassle.

perfect place to introduce new hobbies! like gardening for example. Remember when World of Warcraft in Pandaria introduced gardening? Remember when runescape did it? It was always a communal tiny plot in a middle of a city. Why not to place it somewhere personal?

let us build! not all over the place of course. Just dedicate a small plot, give us tools and let us create. Perhaps a small empty house in the human area? Or just a plot outside the lab in the asura area? Everyone likes the ability to be creative!

let us customize. If building is too difficult to make, or not on the agenda, why not allow us to at least decorate the instance by changing its colours, or adding items like posters over it?

All and any personal instance ideas would be welcome here. Of course, we probably won’t see this, but maybe, just maybe it will serve as a topic that developers could pick up ideas from.

high AP but don't know game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

very interested what triggered the rant.

Had this pretty new warrior today that obviously felt a bit too good about himself because he knows CoF. CoF P2, time to get Magg to his rock across the lava.

He stated “don’t go here, unless you will solo!”, so we all turned around and waypointed. 10 seconds later the same warrior waypoints and goes “wtf is wrong with you?”. As I pointed out, we thought that you wanted to solo. “I was going to, but you all went”. My point then was "it’s easier to ask “anyone wants to solo?” or “I will solo” next time than to be in this mess lol", he responded with “omg shut up noob”.

so without an accurate situation we don’t even know if someone didn’t actually know the dungeon, or whether someone just didn’t play the way someone else wanted them to play. At the same time, perhaps the player was following an outdated strategy? I came back 2 months ago, before that was absent for a year and dungeon strategies have indeed changed.

either way, AP is no way to measure how a person will perform in a dungeon. And not knowing mechanics is easy to fix, bad attitude though isn’t.
