Caedas does not support any hackers, botters, or people using glitches to take orbs/keeps/towers.

Time warp is one sexy skill I love to death.

All of it depends on your play style as a person. Some excel at ranged aoe, others do better playing mesmers and being tricky as thieves.

Why am I chilling? I already said I don’t see AN makign that change. I just exposed the flaw in your line of thinking. Don’t get mad at that, learn something from it.

A flaw in my way of thinking, yet it was a statement based of general posters in the forums. In addition to that I also suggested where to post suggestions regarding GW2 to more effectively let the developers know about them.

So no, it’s wasn’t my thinking, it was the statement which was based off how the majority of people have been posting on the forums.

As for making it a personal attack saying it was my thinking, re-read what I said.
I never specified this thread or any specific thread/post.
It was a general statement.

Though your post suggested I named 1 specific person. (By your use of “NObody here said”) As well as you missed where I had typed “I can understand valid concerns”.

So before jumping on someone, make sure you read their post, and following replies correctly. (Also your post provided nothing to learn, so if you want to suggest for me to learn from your posts, make them into a learning experience.)

The problem with WVW is Anet has done literaly nothing. No participation based scoring system. No performance fixes, zero balancing for WVW. I dont expect that to change. It requires the performance fix first and an entire new forumal for every skill in the game including how endurance works. Ask yourselves if you honestly believe that is ever going to happen based on the developement history and rate of patching?

Actually they have been working on some things for WvW. Anet has also stated that they are trying to correct things like the culling system and such.
Not to mention I’ve personally seen Dev’s in WvW testing things, checking out new patches and verifying glitches to be fixed.

Mishi, whats so hard to understand about that? NObody here said – make this game EXACTLY like this other game. If they love the other game exactly as it was more than GW2, they’d be playing that game.

But it is only logical and SMART to say ’hey these aspects of certain games" make for a more enjoyable game for gamers that are looking for x, y and z.

I would love if AN would do this but I NEVER see it happening. Trash talk and trolling cause constant reporting and problems for AN and they prob don’t want to risk losing players due to a bad experience like that. So don’t hold your breath.

You need to chill. I made the statement because a ton of people in the forums are complaining about something not being like another game. Also the reason there are so many games is due to the fact everyone has a different opinion of what they want. 1 company can not, nor will they ever make everyone happy. Anet has taken some ideas from past MMO’s and also twisted some old ones around, and brought something with many different aspects and options.

It has some new things, as well as some old.
They haven’t stopped listening, however how much extra time do you think they currently have on their hands?
I mean between constant bug reports from millions of people, thousands of people who get hacked due to poor passwords and such, game coding, testing, and so on. It’s not like things will happen 100% over 1 night, or even 4 months. As you can already tell Arena Net has been listening and has been making changes to the game since day 1.

Players just need to learn some patience, and to use the suggestion forum more often. Heck GW2 is only coming up on 2 months since release.

As for weather or not you bound your keys right, I’d suggest over riding the swim up binding, ect… to other keys, so your 1 key doesn’t work for 2 things.

@#1 not entirely sure, I have a regular mouse, not one with extra 1-0 keys on it.

Like why play GW2 and then try to change the GW2 game into a game players have played in the past. I can understand valid concerns, however so many just want GW2 changed to what they are used to, and it’s getting a bit old at this point.

As I said “most” not “all”, the skill glitches, movement, camera, enemy names, key binds, boons, and so on are either settings you changed( for key binds) or things which you should report as bugs to the developers.

Something that i came passed in WvW. Made a bugged report about it. It seems that if you hit the wall with trebuchet so that you don’t damage the stuff thats on top. And you will destroy the wall. Everything that was on top will stay there. Ive seen a balista doing this as wel. Haven’t been able to make a screen of it doh. Did make a screen of this guy.

Send it in as a ticket, you’d get a quicker response as well as let Anet know about it in a more efficient way.

1st time Ive seen someone call GW2 this. So apparently it’s a Very small group of “people”.

The people I play with call it “Downed Wars” when they really mean “let’s do some GW2 PVP”. I agree it hasn’t hit the wider audience yet, but give it time.

Well then you play with a small group, as I have not heard GW2 called that until you stated, as well as I hadn’t seen it on the forums, among a lot of other sites yet, or used in game.

As for the downed state, it’s not as bad as a lot make it. The largest issue is how some classes get clones, ways to get extra time and a chance to kill someone to come back to life, or do high damage, while other classes get useless things.

The “downed state” as a whole adds a new dynamic. Scared of someone rallying off of you, kill them. Scared of someone rezzing another player, use the dead as AOE bait. You’d be suprised at how many times you can make a pile of loot by killing people who try to rezz. In addition to that the self heal requires someone to not be hit while casting it. Also the more you rezz/rally in a small period of time, the less life force you have each time.

I know had I wanted GW2 to be like all other games I’ve played before then I wouldn’t have came to GW2. I like the differences.

Keeping names unknown is a way to avoid:
Flamming
Trolling
Trash talk between players
Harassment

It also helps keep people’s ego’s down, and makes it so the “SERVER” has to work as a full community to achieve success, instead of a few people.

If you want individual fame, go hop right into structured PvP matches.

What is happening with 'Folding'?

there are 4 WvW maps for each server

folding = immaginary unless your on a very low population time of playing and you have no full servers

Um, no. Folding happens all the time. At least in the t2 matchups. Every week its the same thing, first day or so everything is really close, then one side pulls ahead slightly and the other two servers (mostly) give up and go do something else.

Then I’d say that’s the fault of the community on those 2 servers for giving up once another server has gained a slight lead. Maybe it’s a server with more casual players for WvW and less competitive.

but there are more smaller group objectives than “zerg” objectives. Lets dissect it:
Objectives that require large groups

  • Stonemist Castle
  • Keeps
  • Towers
  • Orbs

Objectives that can be done with small groups

  • Mercenary groups (Hylek, Ogres, Dredge, Quaggan)
  • Supply Camps
  • Dolyak Escorts
  • Dolyak Killing
  • Quaggan island for lightning
  • Sentries
  • Defending all of the above, including towers, keeps and stonemist

These are all WvW based objectives, I didn’t bother mentioning infestations, farming or skill points. There is plenty to do for small groups and you can also avoid zergs while doing them.

Objectives that can be done with small groups

  • Mercenary groups (Hylek, Ogres, Dredge, Quaggan)
  • Supply Camps
  • Dolyak Escorts
  • Dolyak Killing
  • Quaggan island for lightning

Thanks for the nice list, but when all boils down how effective are these compared to just zerging the main objectives?

Sometimes very essential.

Supply starving:
A decent sized group can hold off tons of enemies as long as they have incoming supply for their keeps/towers/castle. That’s why almost any tactial player/server knows to cut the supply of their enemy, make them use all of it to “repair” walls/gates, and then goes in, once the enemy has a lack of supply to build siege/replace lost siege apon the 1st wave of attacks. So YB didnt cut the supply and SOR had the advantage of constantly being able to repair/replace siege, and walls. Giving SoR an advantage.

Figure it this way, let’s use Stonemist castle as an example.

Wave 1 rushes in they get killed, but also take out 10 siege weapons that were in lord room.(While SM has 0 supply left)
The defenders wont be able to completely resupply, and chances are by that time they only ahve enough to replace 1-3 siege weapons.)
Wave 2 can then rush in and not have to worry as much about siege as the 1st wave did.

Quaagans:
You can destroy enemy siege, and altars if your server has them and the power node.

Mercenary groups of Mobs:
They can help defend or take supply camps.(or in Quaagan case, attack/defend a keep in the borderlands.)

To directly answer your question on how effective it can be.
SoR had Dreaming bay. Yak’s Bend didnt cut off all supply to the SoR keep. (Thus allowing the supply to come in.)
As YB set up trebs and so forth SoR set tons of siege, in the lord room. We also set trebs, and mortars and killed apx 15-20 of the enemy trebs. While being pinned in DB and out numbered. The fight went on for a long time, YB made a few pushes into the lord room, while wiping each time. They did kill some siege, however we were able to rebuild due to having constant supply incoming to the keep.

Every score I look at, one server is absolutely stomping the others. By ridiculous, absurd margins. Like, 4x as many points as the next closest server. Entire servers just give up on that aspect of the game because they just get rolled all the time.
Your matchmaking system is a total, complete, utter failure. Even two months after launch. Why? The foolish decision to allow all these server transfers. They completely break your model.
You should never, ever, have decided to start week long matchups while still allowing server transfers. And you should NEVER have allowed people to transfer from a less populated server to a more populated one. Anyone could have told you that would lead to relentless bandwagoning on the ‘winning’ server, and that is exactly what is happening.

While you think that WvW has had no close matches, there have been some. SBI/ET/HoD, SoR/YB/NSP, and so on. Of course not all matches will be close, however it does happen. (I only listed 6 servers who have had a close match, due to being on 2 of them through the fights.)

In addition WvWvW is a 3 way match, allowing 2 servers to work to take down 1.
I do however think Anet should implement a way for cross server communication to allow 2 smaller/weaker servers to work together more efficiently.

As for server transfer’s, they are fine, but need 1 simple tweak.
The tweak is making members of a server unable to transfer to a server they are matched against.

Victory in WvW is entirely non skill based
If you have more people you win, simple as that.

Well in some cases numbers play a factor but if set up properly, you can completely decimate another servers zerg with less people, using choke points and siege properly. Then again it takes communication between players, and somewhat comprehensive people.


In the current state of WvW, victory is entirely, 100% determined by geographic coverage.

Many servers have reached out to get 24 hour coverage. It was known in advance WvW wouldnt be a 12hour fight, but a 24 hour one. This allows for people who work different shifts and different hours throughout a day in all regions to be able to play WvW.

You emphasis the total points, which is just a marker of who has more people awake at night, as indicated above, and bears zero relationship to which server is actually ‘winning’. When people see the points are incredibly far ahead – they feel discouraged and stop coming out.
You need to not show this information at all, or else prioritize the current score over the total score. The total score simply records what has happened in the past, the current score of ppt shows what is happening right now.

It is up to a servers community to keep its moral up. I’ve been on a server which was constantly being dominated, however we kept moral up, and fought the never ending battle. In reality people need to relax, and realize “winning” is not everything however having fun is. I’ve also seen servers who while they are down and losing, they have poeple leave WvW and call others from PvE maps in to help. (In reality that can change the course of a battle, however I doubt many servers do that.)

Also, for people who are dedicated to WvW weather the scores are winning or losing, they go in and fight, as long as they have fellow players to fight along side.

So I don’t see how it’s the fault of showing the score unless you’re speaking about casual players who log in, press b, and join only if winning. In reality most server’s want people who will fight win or lose, not only if winning.


The orb bonuses are a terrible, terrible idea. You should swap the orb and outmanned bonuses, or something like that.

I do think Orb bonuses, and the outmanned buff’s should be swapped.

As for hackers, it happens in all games. Though it’s a community who can benifit, or deny the hackers which make a difference.

A good example was YB. They had someone hack the orbs, each time YB would let the server whose orb was hacked, retake the orb without any/little resistance.

I honestly would mind seeing this thread cleared out/closed.

It’s sickening me, how hostile people are being on SoR and such. (Not to mention the poor sportsmanship.)

To SoR members:
Yes people did transfer here.
For those who say “The new people suck, kitten off, leave SoR, ect…” Get over it, you are the minority, while the majority of people are welcoming newer guilds with an open heart, and working with them. Take a long look into the past of SoR and think of how Roger would take the way you are treating the newer members of SoR.

True I didn’t know him, but from what I’ve heard and read, I can honestly say he wouldn’t approve of how childish and rude some of you are being to newer SoR members.

I highly doubt he would have wanted the server to become a place where a new guild or player is trash talked about. I am willing to bet he would have welcomed the newer members or guild with an open heart an open arms.

Please don’t bring down SoR because of your hate, but be the SoR we all know. I know I’ve only been in SoR for 3-4 weeks, however when I first came, myself and my guild were welcomed, and got to know many within the community. We stayed because we liked it in SoR.
The general atmosphere has changed for the worse and now it is more of a hostile environment then it was 3-4 weeks ago. All need to think back and reflact on their actions and words, then see how it’s making people feel who haven’t been in SoR from the beginning.

In all honesty yes there are some bugs with WvW but they aren’t as “horrible” as most are making them out to be.(Other then bots/hackers.)

In all reality people need to realize for WvW Anet should remove the ability to transfer to a server which is fighting the one you are on. That honestly would be the most advantageous way to limit “server hoppers” and keep everyone from “jumping ship” in the first 2-3 days of a match. Though it would also leave transfers open, so people can slowly balance WvW server power out, like it has started to head towards. (Even if it took 3-4 weeks of WvW for the #1 server to implode and scatter a bit, it did happen, slowly but surely smaller servers are becoming stronger, and larger servers are becoming a slight bit smaller.) It will take a while, though eventually it’ll happen.

@Eisenhart: I think you probably dont know the situation I talk about. Yeah if your numbers are equall or there is not that big difference what you wrote is write. But if you are against some1 that has 2x or more numbers then you, they can easilly afford to play with you while others revive the fallen.

And that group would mow through the smaller one, reviving or not.

I’m an Ele, and I have found Arrow carts and such I can’t hit, as well as I’ve found out places to place them where no one can hit.

All it takes for any siege you place is a bit of thought.

As for cannons and Oil, I can understand those, since you as a player can’t choose the placement of those.

For siege you place, think before dropping it. Don’t come onto the forums and complain about AOE’s destroying it. They already nerfed retaliation to not work, what else needs to be done?
I mean as it i,s there are spots siege can be placed, which can not be hit, even by ballistas, and honestly if siege can be placed by defenders, it should be able to be destroyed by attackers.

I like it in both PvE and PvP.

WvW it’s nice as well. Especially while solo defending a tower, and you get hit into “downed” but can mist form away from the aoe’s in time to rezz yourself and go back to solo defending.

Also it’s fun in WvW to line the dead/dying bodies with AOE’s and watch people come in to rezz, but die in the process.

I know some of the NA server’s have 24hr translators for the oceanic’s/others who play from EU.

Also, you should drop the rude comments. Some people can’t 1v1 pvp well, yet can know more about locations to place things in WvW. Everyone has their knack in a game. Takes all kinds to make a server have fun and be successful.

It’s funny all say SoR winning is due to population imbalance, yet friday YB was winning and I’m willing to bet they had full queue’s as well. (Or if they didn’t still they had the people, and SoR number’s didn’t change.)

The thing I think that happened is YB got very demoralized when they went form having an apx 30k point lead + 3 orbs, to having a apx 30k deficit+ 0 orbs in apx 24hours.

For all servers:

GoM/YB
There are bot in the lake, free easy kills/badges/loot on YB BL.

GoM/SoR
Check the skritt, in YB BL, however beware, there’s a specific guild from YB who has 1-2members who are not afk and will watch the 10-20 player bot train. (Still easy kills, ect…)

Just a happy fun FYI. On and the YB bot train on their BL at skrit resets back up about every 10minutes or so.

It would really be best for all to kill these bot trains until they stop logging and eating up WvW spots, or until Anet bans them. (Yes many have reported them.)

I don’t think it’s free transfers between all servers whic is breaking WvW.

I DO think it’s people leaving the server they are on for the winning server they are matched against.

Combat Rezzing Needs to Change

Rezzing someone in a downed state is actually more benificial to a small group of fighting people then a zerg.

If 2 zergs go at it there are to many AOE’s for someone to rezz another before the are killed and taken out of a downed state.

If it’s a small skirmish, then either side prodived they have people who know how to play their classes, would be able to rezz their people.

I’ve done this before, I am a glass cannon Ele, so 1-3hits and Im dead.
In a large zerg fight, no one can rezz me, and I cant rezz anyone due to all the aoe’s going off.
While in smaller fights I can rezz someone, or even have my tanky friend rezz me, while the players avoid “finishing me” and hit him instead.

I’m done reading this thread for a bit.

Too many people being so negative and making all players/guilds who have joined SoR in the past 3 weeks or so seem like they are worth less, and the only people who matter are ones who were here from the start.

Thanks to some of my fellow SoR members for making me feel this way.

@YB and GoM, I hope you guys get your moral back, seems like SoR is having issues from the inside out. You two might be able to use it to your advantage somehow.

To be honest it’s not so much numbers. There are certain times of day when none have the outman buff on them.

Yak’s you know this.
However yesterday morning, while your full force was smashing into Bay keep you missed our 5 man team rolling over the southern part of your borderland ninja taking towers.

Yall had blown over 12-20+ trebuchets on trying to take walls down over and over on Inner bay keep, however once you ran in, you ran into a mass of siege, and aoe’s and wiped.

Granted the fight was fun, you kept us on our toe’s, however your focus on that one keep allowed us to go from that keep only on your map, to owning the entire southern part of the map.

GoM even gave us a run for money last night in their borderlands, when they zerg rushed into garrison, and the northern towers. Though they did not keep the run going, or place a lot of siege.

If YB and GoM don’t give up they could actually both make a comeback. However I can bet your servers have low moral.
YB is probably worse off on moral then GoM because you went form a 24k lead and 3 orbs, to no orb, and 20k loss in a matter of 24-30 hours.

I was expecting a lot more from this match and I have hope that maybe it’ll turn around a bit.

There is so many fair weather guilds on SoR since we started kicking butt that the people who were here from the beginning can’t get in the matches.

The free transfers are ruining the game.

We don’t need or want you.

Sue. I have to concur with that. Sitting in a 30 minute que sucks. I’d at least appreciate a que timer. Like show me that I am # 9135648731564 in the que….

30 minute Queue’s aren’t that bad.
Also if all who were transferred here were to leave because you don’t “want” us, You would be losing some larger organized WvW focused guilds.

Honestly it all boils down to be careful what you wish for.

Honestly, YB came into the fight rushing in and taking all they could and getting a nice lead.
SoR to say the least had a ton of people asleep on Thursday night. (A lot of us stayed up extra hours last match to gain more points for our server.)

SoR hit it hard last night and into this morning, to close the gap and show YB that we wont go down without a fight.

The only server I feel for right now is Gate of Madness, which I don’t know how they made it into this match, haven’t show us their true potential. Maybe tomorrow both SoR and YB will have all maps covered in green and GoM will close the 25K+ point gap for themselves.

You never know, and it’s too early in the match for any side to call themselves the winners of the match.

Some of them are very Versed as well as their guilds with Sun Tzu.

To be honest the fact YB attacked, while Knowing SoR was going after the orb which a Hacker on YB flew off with, is still kinda low. :x

Though still lord room garrison was a good fight, even if the advantage YB took was kinda a low one.
