If only life transfer worked on the necromancer. It’s definitely a nice addition to group support, but it’s on a pretty long cd and it’s easy to interrupt a necromancer. I’ll look forward to the other siphoning changes so I can bring back my old siphoning build.

No thanks. No more boons unless they are very well done (read: not this way).

If they decide to give us endurance, I want either endurance stealing, or “siphoning” (in the sense that their expended endurance is given to us in some portion). Not vigor.

I like this and it could probably find its way onto necromancers in the form of replacing that useless blood to power trait.

I’m currently running these on my guardian and it definitely feels like the pro’s outweigh the cons. I decided to drop judges intervention for smite condition because it feels like the speed boost allows me to stay on target easier. Removing judges intervention also feels like one of the best moves I’ve done for her.

Well this made my night. I own a fully kitted out perplexity warrior and I hope the nerf bat slams it hard so I can readjust to something less kitten y. It’s not like I shelved her either since I still use her when it feels like it’s sword thief night in wvw.

Hell, I’ve applied 9 stacks on confusion to perplexity thieves by reflecting their own headshot back at them and I got a whole load of reflects.

Currently leveling up myself a thief to use p/p with no stealth, she’s currently at level 36. I didn’t think a thief that didn’t rely on stealth was possible so I avoided the class like the plague, but some taco thief gunslinger montage changed that. I’m taking my necro of life blast spamming since this looks like a far superior version and I’ll wait till siphoning is a thing you can use.

Leaving them be is the best option. I treat warriors that use the GS the same way I treat most thieves. They’re meant to be ignored or killed in the most shameless fashion outside of duels and it would be in your best interest to do so too.

I attempted to use the GS on my warrior once and that gameplay wouldn’t be to far off from the OP’s sample.

Yeah unfortunately this build is in for a massive nerf. I also use the perplexity runes on my warrior, but I only roll with shield bash and kick since I’m expecting a ICD nerf of some sort.

The video itself was nice, but the song choice didn’t fit your fighting style well imo.

And guys, remember: EVERYONE can use this. Including classes that can already use runspeed bonuses. Now they don’t have to give up utilities for it. In other words, this isn’t going to make you faster – it’s going to make everyone else faster.

That’s true, but I doubt it will have the impact of a fast burst guardian or mesmer (more so the mesmer). The thought of being unable to juke certain mesmers into allowing me to escape is already sort of terrifying and I won’t be able to experience that till sunday since I’m on vaction.

I plan to throw it on my burst guardian because it synergizes extremely well with her quick and bursty play style while giving me the ability to chase opponents independent of judges intervention status. The loss in damage will be painful but I find she hits slightly harder than necessary anyways. Only problem is because of the boon duration, I can’t decide between smite condition for a little healing, condition removal, and damage on a reasonable CD over save yourselves.

Because it is not a acceptable avenue of a counter. No other profession needs a in game item sold at a vender to be countered. Every other profession can be countered with decent play (most of the time minus a few builds), except Thief.

That is partially true if I’m taking this the way I think the poster meant it to be taken and that would be “only stupid thieves die.”

1. If you run into a 1vs2 confrontation with two well organised thieves, of course it will be very difficult for you to prevail. This is no basis for your general statement.

2. basilik venom recharges every 35 sec, if traited that way. Two thieves could stun you once every 15 sec for 2 sec. Dazing shot only dazes for 1 sec. You can still evade incoming attacks. And even if you never hit the dodge button, they would never be able to perma-daze you, even if they were insanely skilled. Your description is exagerrated. Surely, your frustration about this smashing loss is still nagging at you.

Yes it is since my original argument is that thieves are cheesy to no end, not OP, and not cheap, just cheesy.

I thought mentioning another scenario would let people know that I wasn’t expecting to win against superior numbers employing similar strategies. If I’m willing to fight an equal or greater number of another class using a cheesy tactic, it means the individual cheese on that class is the problem.

I’m also not too sure why you are breaking down the individual skills since I said they took turns and that is more than possible with a stun using initiative. Perma-daze was never an issue and that was never my original argument. Also I fail to see how my original statement that thieves being cheesy down to their very core is exaggerated.

It’s the reason I use axe main hand in both weapon sets. Thieves and close range classes eat me alive if they’re good or if I screw up, but it’s better than putting up with auto attacks in cc range.

Thieves are simply cheesy down to their very core thanks to Anet’s horrible design decisions. I happened to run into two thieves who would take turns using basilisk venom and headshot while the other one dealt damage until I died, classy. Being stun locked to oblivion by 2-3 hammer warriors makes for a far more interesting and comical end since they have to somehow catch me first.

This is the problem. It’s like Anet sat down and decided they wanted to make the most frustrating class on the face of the planet on purpose and it didn’t have to be this way. Stealth doesn’t have to be frustrating, hell in a lot of games I would take a fight with the stealth class any day over a fight with the typical quick or long range classes. I absolutely hate my regen ranger because of her brainless copy pasta build, but I still have her on stand by for those days when you swear you can hear the thieves giggling like school girls when someone strays from the zerg.

When players stop calling thieves OP or cheap, and realize they’re just extremely cheesy, you will be a lot happier losing to one/a few.

I’m testing my own variation using these runes on my own warrior and I have to say they will definitely get nerfed in some way, but that’s for another thread and another time. I’m personally running with 20 20 30 0 0 and I use sword/shield healing signet, kick, endure pain, signet of stamina, and signet of rage. I use missile deflection and spiked armor and focus on turning my opponents strength against themselves during the fight.

I don’t use as many interrupting skills because the cool down on shield bash and kick allow me to use them in 20ish second intervals. This is both because bulls rush is bait and I feel extremely vulnerable when both bulls rush and stomp are on CD. I lose out on aoe confusion so I’m learning to time the LB 5 and the sword burst aoe confusion with kick on a few opponents

Guardian since It’s the manliest use of that weapons hands down. The GS on warriors is simply for some cheesy make shift thief fight reset/lol hundred blades after a 4ish second mace stun. The last thing you should want people to think about your new legendary is how it gets smaller as you zip away into the sunrise (pun intended). Mesmer isn’t even an option since AN could replace the greatsword with the ugly stick and it would still make about as much sense.

The lack of Guardians movement abilities and range combined with their GS animations should make this a no brainer for anyone who wants to make the most of their legendary, but of course this is just my opinion.

Would be cool if they would implement a buff that recognises how many players are aroud you, and if there are 4 or less (for 5 man party) you would get some bonus stats or something. Or do it reverse way, the more players around you, the less damage you can deal. This could encourage playing in small groups attacking objectives from many sides instead of mindless hive.

I agree with this, but I think it should be a debuff in the form of some OOC movement penalty so large groups cannot respond quickly to the antics of smaller more coordinated groups.

Solution 1 has troll potential and it doesn’t address the problem with the people who are content with pressing 1 in the safety of their zerg’s numbers (A lot of people).

The best fix I see for 1, 3, and 4 is still what has been suggested over and over again imo and that is to increase/remove the aoe limit and to remove the downed state in wvw. If removing the downed state is too much, I think a debuff should be applied to anyone reviving a downed player which makes them far more susceptible to damage (conditions included) for the duration of the revival. Mitigation moves such as invulnerability are cancelled, all attacks are unblockable, and revealed is applied to stealthed allies while they revive.

This is the equivalent of downed allies being dead, but they still have a chance if they went down in a safe area or if someone has a skill to revive them.

If Anet gave me some form of pve dueling (like bl/bl2) or a giant open field to duel on, I would probably never go back to wvw until there is some incentive to move in smaller groups.

Until then I will be dueling in wvw or attempting to do smaller objectives till me and my few friends get zerg balled.

They don’t really impress me any more. I’ve gotten more or less used to people running amok with twilight, sunrise, and incinerator (especially on thieves). I used to fear them earlier in the game thinking it meant they were extremely dangerous (wvw), but I’ve learned to view them as being just slightly better than decent.

Although I’m not sure how long I can keep a label like that up since I’ve seen those legendaries running from fights longer than they’re in it (GS warriors and S/D D/D thieves)

I don’t think burning would have been such an issue if the necromancer’s had to give and take to have access to it. Having it as a weapon rather than just plopping it down in a very accessible section of a trait line would have done wonders for that imo.

I do agree OP. First thing me and my friends thought when we saw that weapon was necromancer, but then we died inside when we saw all the staff skins.

Don’t you have to go 25 into a traitline to do it? I contend that that isn’t exactly “very accessible”.

Of course, I simultaneously contend that it should have been a trait you have to choose, not one of the auto-traits.

I think fear is fine the way it is. I would give necromancers confusion in a way that won’t bleed out into other classes.

You can’t and shouldn’t base this around a rune set. The fear is clearly stated as an interrupt on the wiki, and it should indeed be counted as an interrupt, because, well it interrupts! Just because Anet suddenly made a godly rune set, does NOT mean fear shouldn’t be counted as an interrupt, it is however, up to Anet to put an ICD on the runes.
On a side note, I just read a post where a warrior explained he can put up 21 stacks of confusion on a whim. So, you think it might be best not to change fear into a pure interrupt, because there’s suddenly a rune set out there? Just wait till you start to meet these warriors.

I own said warrior and I’ve watched an elementalist melt with 21 stacks of confusion on him, so it’s due for a nerf. Although even in a nerfed state, having confusion tacked on top of something necromancers are already good at will impact the game in such a terrible way. It doesn’t help that this being an all class rune will affect AN’s ability to balance it properly.

I hear you guys and I agree somewhat, but if I had to choose between fear being an interrupt with this rune existing or fear being an interrupt without this rune existing, I would choose the latter. But as I’ve stated, we already crossed that bridge and I have little faith in AN’s ability to balance this rune with all the classes in mind. It just feels like some of you want a new OP toy to try out, but I will never hope for fear to be an interrupt for as long as this rune exists.

Yeah, you are right. Best not ruin a perfectly good rune that can be used to considerable affect on necros (who have some of the longest cast times on skills) by making it useful for said necros.

Don’t want to step on the toes of the “core” classes like guardians and mesmers.

I should have made it clear. I don’t mind necromancer’s getting confusion, but with necromancer’s conditions being as powerful as they are, it has to be controlled imo. Hell AN could make two seperate runes, one for the other classes and one for necromancers, they both start off with the same stats and I wouldn’t have any problem.

Last thing I want to see is the flood gates being opened on some new OP build. I don’t pick favourites but since my main is a necro, I will comment.

Thanks, but no thanks. It was a nice trick to overcome fall damage and the occasional large boss hit, but I would much rather this be left as-is and let them focus on making DS more useful (skills changing based on weapon), fixing lifesteal, improving trait synergy, etc. In the grand scheme of things this is something better left un-abusable and simply focus on other obvious areas of improvement.

Agreed, if I have to pick between my DS aegis or Anet actually addressing issues with this class, I’ll put up with with thieves backstabbing me out of DS.

How did you guys get the recipe? I’m having trouble figuring out how to get my hands on these runes for my warrior.

You go to the Crown Pavilion and talk to one of the NPC’s there I forgot which one but they are all merchants (they will have stars over their heads) it will be the 4th option I think when you talk to them says “let me see my rewards” then you purchase the recipe with sprockets and gold. They will probably run you about 15ish gold to make them. The discipline is Tailoring.

Much appreciated and yeah I’ve done the math just couldn’t find the recipes.

Did the other classes even notice our bm nerf? Dogs dmg cut in half, pet swap quickness replaced with “your pet gets quickness on down” Can anyone srsly think of a worse trait then this?

Parasitic bond, Siphoned Power, and Reanimator, but then again, the necromancer is plagued (no pun intended) with terrible traits. If you mean on ranger then no, I think all the other traits are ok.

If this is Arena Net’s idea of getting people to play their game (releasing time intensive content in a limited time event), they really have another thing coming when their players either ignore their content altogether or quit the game. My friends don’t even bother with Arena Nets events anymore and I’m the only one attempting to finish achievements while enjoying the new content and old (wvw etc.) at the same time.

The minigame is indeed fun but for those of us who also enjoy completing achievements, all the fun stops right there.

This is exactly how I feel. I barely feel like I get a breather to do wvw and by the time I finish this bunch of content, the next bunch is going down my throat. My friends have completely given up on the new content because it’s happening far too fast for them and they just do wvw now while I frantically try to collect achievements and take in the sights before it’s gone for good. I wish Anet tied new content and areas to maybe a 1 or 2 month schedule (with more oomph!) while constant bug fixes and balancing was every two weeks.

It’s nice that Anet is commited to delivering a stable stream of content (it really is) but we are all only human.

I’ve turned my warrior into a condition warrior with rampagers armor and weapons and rabid accesories with rampager jewels. I’m using the rune of the mad king and I must say she does a lot of work. She’s no necromancer, but I can actually be focused it’s a nice feeling.

I do have to agree that necromancer’s torment is anemic in comparison, but they have access to it on every build they have with an entirely different set of conditions they can add to it

Why is "blobbing" so looked down upon?

…because 80% of forum users are bored thieves, posting in between yak kills, and they’re mad, because they can’t one shot people safely while they are all blobbed up.

My thief have no problem killing people in a blob. The fact that the blob is so unorganized usually end with the downed player left behind. People are so obsessed in staying with the commander for speed buffs that they will just leave anyone behind if they die, and this make a thiefs job very easy.

This is a major reason why I refrain from hopping in a zerg or blob. I’ve picked up allies and had the same allies ignore me when I go down because of this blob mentality. This has only taught me to leave my allies to die but I would sooner avoid zerging before I would ignore allies that I am more than capable of saving.

There really is no individual thought in the blob and the game heavily punishes those who attempt to have one.
