So, when I first read the changes I was very excited, because I thought they changed this luck based random stuff for fractals…
Then I realised they did not… of course it is nice that you can get unlimited agony resistance now… but first you need infused ascended items… I admit I am not the most frequent fractal player, but I did a good number of level 20+ fractals and have yet so see such a mysterious shard of crystallized mist essence, which apparently are in the game… I also never got an infused ring at the end…
So while this change you are doing here is nice, I had really hoped you would also include something to not make this whole thing so kitten luck and random based.

This is correct.

Chest can be openede without CD repeatedly as long as you have keys? Or is this also only once per day?

I opened it twice yesterday, so I think it should be no problem as long as you have keys.

Like I’ve said, people are claiming it NEVER drops, but we’re only at day 1 out of at least 2 weeks. People got used to, in the past few updates, being able to quickly farm hundreds of gold in the event and then just buy anything from the event from people. You can’t do that in this LS, and its more to how it was in the beginning of the game (if my memory serves me well). So, everyone needs to just FINALLY be patient about getting mini’s or cosmetics.

It has nothing to to with being patient, it is about how it is random and making it account-bound will make it impossible for unlucky people to get it and other people will have many of this mini stuck in their bank-tab not needing them. If A-Net comes here and tells us, the chest and the keys will stay in the game, ok then fine, but I bet like every LS this will only last two weeks so making it a random account-bound drop is just a bad idea.

Yes, please change that, no idea who had this “great” idea to make it account bound. Now unlucky guys can farm all event long and never get it -.-
Btw, not sure where gold is concert here, you can buy the key only once per day and the key parts are account bound, so only option is to farm key pieces all time you have…
And guys who are lucky and get the mini more than one time can do nothing with it… such a waste.

We are taking damage away from the hammer skills that do CC, because we don’t think it is ok for skills to do both of these things. I see a lot of comparison with Greatsword damage, but the Greatsword has no interrupts and a single cripple on the Bladetrail. We left the skills that do not do hard control alone such as Fierce Blow and Hammer Shock, as we are ok with those skills hitting hard because they do not actually disable. We also left Backbreaker alone because it has a long cast time and a long cooldown. The standard hammer build is still going to be very strong after this change, but it will open up options for mace to make a comeback as the control weapon.

What about us pve hammer warriors. It is not like groups appriciate us while playing since our damage is lower than greatsword and most of the time knockdown is not needed or on bosses is useless. When lowering damage now, this will make groups even more wary of hammer warriors.

Story Mode Arah Dragons Bugged

Don´t know if this was already mentioned (looked for a topic but did not find one), but in Arah Story Mode the part with the Dragons was bugged. We did the dungeon few minutes ago and in the part were you are on the airship and shot first one dragon and then two dragons with canons, the dragons kept resetting their health. This happened 4-5 times for every dragon until we finally managed to kill them.

I know that the hammer warrior causes lots of problems in pvp and is too strong (at least the pvp guys in my guild tell me this ), but I am playing this in pve and honestly it is tons of fun, but most of the time when playing with groups they ask me why I do this since greatsword would do more damage… So seeing this, I am not happy… I know you do not want to split to many skills in pvp/pve, but perhaps you could do this here?

So what does all that mean? German, French, and Spanish players have less to complain about that American, Canadian, Brit, Irish, Aussie, and Kiwi players?

Honestly I think it just means, that everyone who can write English is using the english forum and not the native language one. I do this and all my guildmates also do this since there is much more going on in the english forum and honestly here I get more of a feeling that a dev will read my post and not only the community manager (don’t mean to be disrespectful, they are great guys).

Some of you posted about your favorite releases and least favorite. It would be really cool if you have the time to post your single favorite and least favorite and the reasons why for each. This would help a lot and I will share my learning with you etc. from the posts.

Ok, first the one I liked most (not including SAB because I love that but it is not something I count to Living world since its not in the normal world):
Bazaar of the Four Winds
The reason I loved this was that I had so much fun exploring the island, doing the jumps, figuring out the locations of the crystals and everything. I know that is not fun for everyone and some people could not really play it because of bad ping, but I loved it. The rewards were great, even if I am now at a point were I don´t want anymore backpiece items, the Aspect one was great (especially the wind – my ele is perfect with it). Also the sanctum model was cute. Alltogher it was just fun, I did not feel the need to farm something or rinse and repeat for achievements, it was just tons of fun.

Now the one I dislike most:
Blood and Madness
This felt like there was not put much effort in it. The story about Prince Thorn was nice, although a bit illogical, but perhaps I am too much of a bookah to understand why Tassi needed my minipet and did not just sent us to the labyrinth to capture some candy corn elementals.
But that was it from the good side. The return of the labyrinth was ok, but the new bosses are just annoying (Candy Corn takes ages and Lich is just really annoying) and after a few days almost now one was in it anymore and the boss doors needed to be avoided.
The Clocktower; of course I understand that you wanted to help people by changing the other players to blue lights, but this also meant transforming it to an activity meaning you can´t go in as group anymore. Last year my guildmates and I had so much fun in the tower, teasing each other about falling down etc and we waited for the tower to return this year. But now you can´t go in as group anymore and even if you manage to get into same instance by syncing the entering you just don´t really realise if your friend is with you or not, since you can´t see the characters anymore. So even if many people might like this change, I would gladly take back the old clocktower.
The instance were we fought against King Thorn, why is it not returning? Also the achievements from last year. I have them all but I still expected them to come back like it was in SAB where the old one could be done. This cut out a lot of content of halloween which could have been done again. This is something I was expecting from yearly events, that the content returns, some new is added to it and we can enjoy things. Are the different mask not enough to show for the different years of participating in halloween, why do the achievements have to be new to?
Lunatic inquisition. It is a fun game, even if I thing time is a bit long (map a bit too big), but the achievement you added turned it into a not fun game anymore. You only get a point added to the achievement if you win, so basically you need to be the last survivor (which is rare) or the ghosts need to kill everyone. So why should I try to survive, it is much easier to run to the middle, jump from the cliff and become a ghost since normally the games always end with the ghosts winning.
So last the rewards: I understand that some rewards should be hard to get, but 20slot bags and minpet for this amount of candy corn (also amount of skulls etc for weapon is a bit extrem, but I do not care so much since I don´t like the skins)? Not acceptable for me. I am a collector and achievement hunter, and up until now I always did my best to collect all rewards, minipets and achievements form living story, especially if it was a challenge (like Liadri 8 orbs). But what you did hear is just grind, I don´t have time for this and since my gold always goes into minis etc I can´t pay 140g for the needed candy corn for the prince minipet. This might not mean much to other people but for me this ruined one of my favorite events since GW1 and I am dissappointed about the decision you made regarding this.
[edit] And why are the rewards always one per account now… last year I could get item from clocktower for every character…

My thoughts on living story/world.

The idea to have updates every two weeks is great, I liked that from the start, but over the last few months I got the feeling that this is just too much for developers to handle in terms of update amount. I personally would prefer to wait a bit longer for updates and have more content. This actual story about krait tower, I blasted through it first evening a few hours and it was fun. But now I am done and all there is left is farming events, which I find boring. So seeing that GW2 is now out for more than a year and there were now news about some big update (or expansion), I thinks living story should be slowed a bit in favor for something big coming.

This brings me to my next point. Permanent content. Most of the living story we have seen so far was not permanent, which is annoying. For example just because we destroyed some Molten Alliance facilities they are now nowhere around anymore? Makes no sense to me. I really hope that this changes with the current update and that Kessex Hills will be changed permanently (of course of we destroy lots of these Kraits/Nightmare Court guys, their population will be reduced, but seeing Landscape change back would just be like nothing ever happened there. So I really hope some changes will be permanent and that we will see more permanent changes in the futere. (Btw we killed Zhaitan and cleansed Orr, can’t Orr begin to change to be a bit nicer please? )

Then there is the story of the living world. I read that you want to improve this and I really hope you find some good ways soon, to introduce more story into the game (and not hidden NPCs with some dialog that almost no one will notice). I know mails are limited in space, but could not the talking window be expended? I would not mind to read more of the story, of course having it spoken would also be nice but probably more work for you

So last the rewards and achievements. I agree with some others here that the achievements should be more story or fun related and not “kill x mobs” “do y events”. I mean for example the krait obelisk shard achievement could have been so cool instead of boring if the obelisk hat offered real informations to us (which could have also helped to give us players more story). And for fun achievement I mean things like you did for the twilight arbor path with scarlet. Trying to get not shocked in the platform room, or running around in the end doing some extra objectives.
For rewards I must say, I hope you will change away from giving kitten many backpiece skins. Sure in the begining there were almost no backpiece skins, but now I have so many in my bank (since I am a collector), that I don’t know what to do with them anymore, most of my characters have two backpieces with them, which I am changing just to use part of all these skins. I would propose to give other skins (I don’t know how much time it would take to do some armor part skins or weapon skins compared to backpiece) or of course I am always fine with minipets, or some more fun items like the balloon etc.
And lastly, I know you want to keep economy balanced, but please don’t bring this into living story, like you did with halloween. Perhaps I am wrong with thinking the prince minipet requires so much candy corn because you want to get a huge amount of it out of the market. Regardless why this was done, this totally ruined halloween for me, since I don’t have the time to farm this much candy corn (and it is grinding, which you told us GW2 should not be about) and since I always spent mony on minipets and different amors for characters I am always broke, so buying candy corn for this is not an option. So please reconsider doing something like this in the future.

The Glow looks fantastic. Just because your previous dye combination isnt PERFECT anymore doesnt mean you cant find one that will be again. Stop ’yer moaning and start mixing dyes.

In my opinion the dye color change is not the problem or even glow. The problem is, that this change resulted in a loss of detail and texture of most armor parts, and that is what annoys me. Changed colors I don’t care, I can just try one of the other thousands around, but I can’t do anything about the plain texture the leaves have now.

First, thanks that you are still working on existing armors.
But to be honest I hate the change, I loved my Sylvari Medium T3 armor before (and since I am always broke it took me some time to get it ), but now the colours are just a mess and my carefull testing with all the colour combinations through the auction house were all for nothing. So while I appreciate that you are doing work some players wanted, I hate it and want my old colours back.

I know that the bug where NPCs were missing their helmet was fixed a while ago, but it seems that Zojjas has gone missing again, at least in Caudecus Manor (did not check the other dungeons). Just did the dungeon 10mins ago.

I really hate how this made me dislike Halloween. Over the last years regardless if it was GW1 or GW2 Halloween was always my favorite event. This year when I heard we could get a minipet and bags for candy corn I was very excited… and then came the real update and I saw the prices… Sure this things should not be totally cheap, but this is just too much.
I mean just for the minipet I would have to farm three stacks candy corn every day of the event. And to be honest, yes I play everyday, but for this I just don’t have the time. Sure I could tell my guild I will be not doing anything with them until event finishes and just farm all time I have, but where would be the fun in that…
Really frustrated at the moment, because this made me dissapointed in my most favorite event (and yes for me it is a big deal with the mini, because I love collecting them)

My problem is, the change makes kind of sense considering all those annoying charrs and norns last year, but it also makes me sad, because my guild and I had a lot of fun doing it together. It’s like too sides of a coin, can’t decide what is better.

    Most bosses need events to be completed (best example would be KarkaQueen). Hard to realize a synchronization.
  • KillDuration
    Boss usually have a spawn restriction after it’s been killed. With most bosses having a timer now, it’d work fine, but those without don’t have to be killed on several servers. Like if noone would kill the Dredge Champion on server a, it’d prevent spawning on any other server (after it’s been killed once).

You are right, I did not thing of that, so there would need to be really a lot of work invested into a solution, but I still hope that the devs at A-Net will find a solution.

Synchronize World Bosses

Ever since champions got good loot and more so after adding ascended materials dropping from world bosses it got very annoying to have a chance at defeating the world bosses.
For example Shadow Behemoth in Queensdale. Almost every evening or weekend when you go to Queensdale you get into an overflow, since there are many people farming champions. So if you want to have a chance at slaying the Behemoth you need to stay in Queensdale a long time to finally get to main server. Same applies for Claw of Jhormag, or temple events in Cursed Shores. I don’t mind people farming champions, if they have fun, they should do it, but it creates problems for people who want to do/farm world bosses. Even bosses like Shatterer (where is no champing farm I know of) regularly create an overflow, leaving over 50 people shut out of the event.
So to get rid of this problem and still keep both types of farmes happy, please synchronize the world boss events for all servers, like it is done with Teqatl. Then everyone on the overflow could just do the event there.

I don’t think that A-Net forgot the GW1 fans. Everyone has different opinios about the game.
I am quite happy with GW2 most of the time. It is a different game than GW1 and that is fine. Of course there are sometimes things I am “missing” or are nostalgic about (like some armor designs). And of course sometimes there are updates which I don’t agree with (like this boring and tenacious crafting to 500), but this is not because it was different in GW1, I don’t agree because it is not fun for me. After the first few weeks, when I really accepted that this is a new game and not some shiny polished GW1 I got quite satisfied playing GW2, so no A-Net did not forget me as GW1 player.

Perhaps I am the only one, but even after all this time I still can’t get used to the now fixed minimap in PvP. Could we please have the option to rotate it back? I admit I am not the only PvP playertype but I liked to play it a few times a week just for fun, but now I almost only play once or twice a month, since it is really annoying to run into wrong direction because I got confused again by the minimap. I want to kill people and capture points, not spent time concentrating on the map to figure out the right directions, since it is not like a compass anymore.

Please stop the trenchcoat mafia. We could really use some cool designs tight-fitting for medium armor users. Also some more pants for light armors would be nice, as well es some heavy for females without these “skirt over pants” design.
I would love to mention some examples from GW1 but I know I would only get “This is GW2 not 1” responses so I will refrain from it
(And yes I know it takes time, I waited until Elona to get my Ele some cool pants in GW1)

To be honest, I have not yet beaten Tequatl but right at the moment I am thinking that I will do this ’till I have my achievements and then never come back. Why?

If you want to go to your home server most of the time you spent much time in overflows where nothing works and Tequatl gets to 95%. All this waiting in Sparkly just for a chance to get on home server is time you can`t play.
This waiting leads to a lot op people being afk when a fight starts, so Tequatl is scaled higher for people who are not participating, making it very hard if not impossible sometimes to complete the event.
So people who see no chance to do the event on their server go guesting, which is annoying for people on the guest world since their trouble getting onto their homeworld worsens. I can understand both sides and it is a stupid situation for all.
If you are able to be on an organized Tequatl Event, you still run into trouble because of people blocking the turrets who have no idea what to do, and if this happens to one or two turrets the event is failed… and even if they are told to leave the turrets and do something else, they often just refuse, or don`t event realise that they are a problem… problem here is how easy it is to abuse the game mechanic here and fail the event for hundreds of people. Or being a bit more positive someone who is not a “pro” yet at turrets can easily fail the event for everyone even if he does not mean to.
So even if you manage to get rid of all these obstacles and get Tequatl through different phases the loot is a problem. Half of the people I talk to get no reward box after the event (me too often), despite doing turret defense / Tequatl damage / getting event reward for battery or megalaser defence. So what the hell should we do to get the boxes for 75% / 50% etc?
Sure I can`t say anything about the loot of the last reward chest, but what I am hearing from friends or just talking on the overflows is, that the chance for something good is minimal.

Coming to an end, I am sad to say this but honestly I agree with the people the OP is talking about. Why the hell should I spent hours trying to normally get some bad reward, after I got my achievements. I prefer going to play the game. The idea for a Tequatl revamp was good the implementation not so.

I really don’t know what to do to get rewards (and yes I know we need to participate in each phase to get boxes)…
Some fights I was attacking Tequatl → no reward
Some fights I was defending turrets → no reward
Some fights I was using the turrets → no reward
I was always participating in the defence events of batteries / megalaser and getting event reward for that.

I was always just standing directly on the tree top and jumped from there (the jump where you press forward first and directly after it jump, meaning a tiny bit of running not the one were you jump first and press forward after, this is too short). Worked fine almost everytime

I have no idea if it is working (would need to be tested), but could you backtrack over the clouds from the shop next to the room where motos finger is? Because then it would be possible to get another key. Or was the shopkeeper there not selling one?

I did this two hours ago and I was also thinking it was bugged. Finally after 30mins and after jumping in a circle on the three clouds (first you land on normally respawns shortly before third vanishes) for 5mins and continously playing the song it finally opened.
Strange thing is, I did this twice before (last week) and there it opened after one or two tries.

This only means you must not be in motos Room when the timer at the end of the zone runs out, in between you can visit moto as much as you want.

I did these achievements 2 days ago and it was working fine. So if it is bugged it seems to be some random bug.

What is annoying is the bugged chechpoint with the spikes where you loose sometimes another health while respawning (depending on lagg). And the cloud checkpoint after is not working. Sure tribulation mode means dying, but these bugs are not fun.

I think what he meant was that figuring out the traps to go to the next save point was sometimes to easy. Tribulation mode difficulty is not about dying (this is expected and part of it, if you read the comments about the design philosophy), the difficulty is about the traps and figuring out the way you need to take.

Could we please have the game remember what you want to see in the login screen? the new achievement addition is nice, but I don’t care about the achievements, I want to see my medals, I like them. I know this is just a minor thing, but every time I switch character it bugs me

btw just because I am curious, do you get this buff that is mentioned in the dev post, I never noticed it?
