Same here. I downloaded the big patch but since the small bug fixes haven’t been able to open the client to initiate download. At first I wondered if this was a Mac client issue but perhaps not.

The ranger wS entirely right. What we were doing wasn’t playing the dungeon, it was taking advantage of an exploit. So yeah, even though people on this forum will hate me, I’d line Anet to close those exploits down. Make the AI smart enough not to let is trap it into a corner and stack our AoE onto it. It’s just cheating.

Since you allege that stacking is “cheating,” please explain in a sentence or two exactly what game rule or code of conduct it breaks. I am sure many others are eager for your clarification.

I think you’re just trying to defend yourself here for the sake of self defense. Don’t feel bad bro, I’ve done it too. We all have.

Now it may not break the terms and agreements we clicked I agree to, however this is a Roleplaying game.

Have you you ever played an RPG tabletop style? With a dungeon master and stuff?

Now imagine you are in that game and your strategy is, I’m going to take my pewter figure and place it outside the gaming mat. That way I my character can throw objects at the monsters and the monsters who are stuck in the game world can’t reach my pewter figure because it is placed conveniently off the gaming mat.

Now, in the first edition dungeons and dragons ruleset, there’s no rule that says you got to put your little figure in the same table as the monsters and other players. But it doesn’t stop it from being cheating regardless. In a tabletop game the dungeon master would just say, stop being a cheeseball and take your figure and put it back I to the ganeboard.

Stacking is just the same. Players find the specific spot that the AI can’t seem to get a good aim lock on, then we stand there invulnerable while the boss gets killed by our spells.

I am not trying to “defend myself” against anything. I simply asked you to explain exactly how stacking in GW 2 (not some irrelevant table top RPG analogy you made up) is “cheating” or an “exploit.” And the answer is, you won’t and can’t. Great work. You failed to defend your most basic charge.

There is no skill stuff die that fast you dont need to dodge at all if all are using meta builds and you have aegis and blind up anyways,if you do it in low damage party it can get hard as you need to dodge and stuff and big hits will 1-2hit you just like they do with zerg gear.

Of course, this is just the personal opinion of a player that is somewhat frustrated that need to previously know these “hack runs” in order to join any dungeon activity outside of a guild environment.

Please explain exactly what is hacked about speed runs. Cite specifics. I will wait.

Also, are you able to start your own non-speedrun group?

We don’t know how the new content is gonna be. Maybe they make something that you can’t complete with old dungeons’s meta. Like in spvp the meta for conquest will not the be same for Stronghold.

Do you actually want this? Current content can be completed in any gear.

4. Butt toughness and boss damage, this is to encourage tanky builds ans punish pure DPS, this way it is takes more skill to be pure DPs.

What seemed misleading to me was listing changes to might in one section and alluding to specific item alterations in that same section but saving the sigil of battle adjustments for a few sections later. This disconnect implied, at least to me, that other items would be affected as well. Perhaps not though, and battle sigils will be the only specific items changed. The layout just seems counter-intuitive and ambiguous.

just make 100 new dungeons paths the guys complaining about the no new dungeon content will complain how hard it is and go back to do cof p1 and p2 and ac p1 and p3.

So much rage about no new stuff when most ppl raging haven’t fully enjoyed everything the game as to offer it’s just insane. I play since beta weekend 1 with no breaks and you know why? if i get bored doing something i just move on and do something different… if i actually don’t feel like doing anything i just roam and help ppl around offer myself to “initiation” party’s for fractals or dungeons it’s fun and i feel helpful, the rewards may be crap (obviously i don’t do the most gold/hour) but i get to meet new friendly and fun ppl while having fun enjoying the game isn’t that the game objective?

So the devs not working on anything new on the dungeons matter… big deal they are working on something… they don’t get payed to sit all day… so soon or later i will enjoy what they working on right now.

Suggesting that someone should not suggest improvements to one game mode simply because others exist is irrelevant and widely misses the point. Also, those who participate in this dungeon forum, by and large, are not PHIW casuals discouraged by “tough” content. Just the opposite.

Rune of Strength: The 4-piece bonus has had its might duration reduced from 10 seconds to 5 seconds for both the Major and Superior versions. The 6-piece bonus has had its damage bonus reduced from 7% to 5% while under the effect of might.

Maybe drop it to 50s, or fix the bosses. This might drive off the dedicated dungeoneers , but it might become a bit more low-level friendly as a result.

zerk meta solution

Having a penalty to zerker gear as armor(not trinkets) such as doing a % of the damage back to yourself(armor ignoring) similar to Agony, would allow the possible formation of anyone else wanting to assist in keeping those berzerkers alive or another form of damage.

I love forum posts that begin from the premise that non-berserker gear is insufficient, faulty, and suboptimal. Then the solution they pose is to punish those who wear berserker gear. Ah, the stupidity. If other gear sets are bed, why not come up with ways to improve them? Why degrade berserker sets? What a well-reasoned plan.

I just noticed the issue this morning. The bonus to crit chance vanishes (and doesn’t return) after you’ve been downed/killed. Hopefully it gets patched soon. Seems like it would be an easy fix.

I know this isn’t about the mac client (and that all discussion of the mac client is banished to the mac beta support forum even if it isn’t about a support issue) but Anet’s lack of communication is also readily apparent with respect to the mac beta too. The mac client has been slowly degrading ever since the fall. The last few major patches have made the game progressively more unplayable. First it made the game a slideshow and now we can’t play the game for more than a few seconds (literally) before the game crashes. Between patches the game becomes playable for about a week but then another big patch comes and completely destroys the client again.

The support staff have said a few things and attempted to reassure the mac user base but honestly, no one reads the mac client support forum (probably why everything is banished there). There are mac users in map chat who have no idea why their client is crashing. We need Anet to tell us the truth about the mac beta client. The Chinese beta problems warranted a press release explaining the issues the Chinese had with their beta, why can’t the mac beta users have dialog with the devs too? We’ve been in beta for over a year with no communication, no indication of what they’re working on or what they’d like us to test (the answer is likely test the purchase gem button since that is the only feature they fix quickly). Seriously, Anet. You can justify staying relatively silent for a lot of things. But a year of silence for an entire platform you advertised as holding personal relevance for some of your staff (how you have people who own macs) makes no sense.

Give us an update on the state of the mac client.

I completely agree. The lack of urgency in repairing the now unplayable Mac beta is troubling. But what is even more disturbing is that a patch that crashes the client for almost all Mac users was even released. Surely basic testing would have caught this.

Would this patch have rolled out if PC players crashed every few minutes? Obviously not.

I’ve picked up some great tips on guard builds from this forum. Between Obal’s posts and recommendations for dungeon setups many others have made, I’ve gotten a strong sense of what a strong DPS PvE build could/should look like.

I’d love some feedback on it. At this point, I like the damage output but get a tad frustrated by its fragility. I run dungeons with my guild, but few guild members use zerker gear alongside me. So my dungeon runs sometimes have the feel of PUG arrangements (lots in PVT, me as the lone glass cannon, mostly successful but some rough times). Basically I’m wondering if I should stick with this build knowing that I rarely work with an optimal team or other zerkers. Does anyone have suggestions on how to improve the build given my typical play conditions? Many thanks in advance!

A simple question: will the problems Mac users (especially those who run Mavericks) have accessing the gem store be fixed with next Tuesday’s patch?

Personally, I am very uncomfortable tinkering with game files to manually resolve this issue.

2012 Retina Macbook Pro Overheating

The Mac Beta runs pretty well on my 2012 retina MacPro. However, the machine seriously starts to overheat almost immediately. Even keys become hot to the touch. Do other rMBPro users experience this problem? Can anyone offer advice or (even better) a solution?

Sadly I am worried that playing GW2 will fry this supposedly quality laptop.

I relocated 5 points from Honor, dropping Elusive Power, to Radiance. Using Perfect Inscriptions (alongside the three signets) in a 10/30/10/20 gives me consistently high crit and DPS. At this point, I like the adjustment.

Regarding condition removal, I’ve been using Inscribed Removal during dungeon runs. Activating a signet also drops a condition, and their recharge rate is already pretty fast. The build mostly fits what I’m after, but I’m still open to suggestions. Thanks to those who weighed in.

I’m looking for a little feedback on this build I’ve been using for the past few days. It’s a 10/25/10/25/x setup meant for PvE and dungeons (I rarely wander into WvW or PvP). I use GS/Staff, and have grown pretty fond of that weapon set.

My intent was to configure a fairly high DPS build (for Guard, at least) that still retained decent Vitality and some Toughness. In short, I want good damage output without being completely brittle. The link to the build includes the GS’s updated ascended stats.

Any feedback on the traits, skills, etc. would be most welcome. Thanks!
