Yolomouse is a great addon and it isn’t considered illegal 3rd party software. You can have all sorts of cursors (enemies, far enemies, interact cursor, ecc.) as well as colors, sizes and 3 or 4 default types.

Skyhammer is a point that has to be capped, and it decaps and hits all points once capped

The reason why you don’t see healing power in many amulets is that too many classes scale excellently with HP (druid) and some others have basically no interaction with healing power (warrior, unless shouts)

Also, another tip – shouts could be reworked into giving more substantial effects on teammates rather than just boons. For example group superspeed on “Retreat!” (3-4s) or a pulsing stability area for “Stand Your Ground!”
Altruistic Healing revamp is also overdue, the metas have shifted too drastically for it to be considered worthwhile.

Boost Honor line, move Glacial Heart (+convert chill to slow) and update scepter, mace and perhaps even sword to a degree in terms of smoothness.

I think most of you are missing the entire point that this 300k ish that was spent in marketing and sponsoring this ESL effort failed in two big ways

1. it didn’t reach out to anyone outside of the tiny gw2 community interested in PvP
2. 200-300k spent to ‘retain’ an sPvP population the size of about 5-10k players (10k being an absolute max) is a ridiculous amount of money, considering this game has about 9 million accounts

I just want to remind you that WTS Boston with oRNG and Abjured (if i’m not mistaken) in April 2015 had peaked at 17-18k viewers… and the direction of the game at the time was marvelous. Real shame.

Go back to Season 1 ESL Vod’s on twitch and check out what it was like with the new specs and soldier’s, celestial, sentinel (pvt) stats. Much of ranked and unranked was similar to what you see in those fights.

We had this. It was a different tab entirely for Premades and that 1 or 2 solo players who absolutely didn’t mind the challenge at times. But this lead to incredibly high queue times for 5 man teams… to the point where they often waited 10m++ until they found a game.

So far, the current solution caters casuals and 5man teams both. Unless you have a better suggestion?

In higher tier Legendary que times are upwards of 20 minutes with ease. Usually 10-15 minutes during prime time. 3 to 4 hours late night / early morning.

I also played in top 10 SoloQ and I often ran with a team in TeamQ within the top 50 and to be quite honest with you I never minded the que times in either game mode. It wasn’t really broken per se, they just attempted to make it better but it just got worse.

Some people got lives though. 20 minutes for a match is crap.

Kind of my point. The pip system didn’t do much for players who hit Legendary, and most games after a certain threshold were entirely dominated by highest MMR players on one side and the crappier players on the other. This was how my last 150 games went in Legendary.

In F2P Amber-Legendary though it was a breeze and took me a little more than a weekend to achieve. Que times were substantially less, between 2 and 4 minutes. But the games were of laughable quality.. and I mean triple capping home kind of laughable.

Hello PvPers and Developers,

Since it is apparent that three or two way balancing will not happen, would it be difficult to introduce custom amulet stats with limitations in regards to defensive stat combinations?

For example, if a player wanted to create a Mercenary amulet, the player would have to give up condition and power damage (perhaps along the lines of +900 power and +900 condition) to achieve the +560 toughness and vitality. Otherwise, the player could use +1050 power, +1050 condi and +280 toughness and vitality.

This shouldn’t affect ferocity and precision builds such as Paladin or Demolisher’s, because while they are offensive stats, they are only secondary to power. And the same should go with healing power, though it is a more difficult subject to handle due to large scaling differences among specs. Healing Power should nonetheless be treated as a secondary defensive stat. The main offenders are, and will always be, toughness and vitality.

I didn’t do any of the math, I thought of the idea and decided to put it up as I’m sure others have in the past.

TL;DR
Custom amulets with defensive stat limitations when both power and condition damage are present.

I have a 1 hour break after lunch before I go back to work and during this time soloq’s always filled my time. But now? To go against and get absolutely demolished by organized teams? It’s not fun nor is it in any way competitive.

I would also like to be able to play in practice arenas as I wait for qpop – why the kitten was this removed? Or am I missing something?

Edit: Builds can’t be changed in practice arenas. If I am to test something and tweak it I’m supposed to leave the game?

I have approximately 3000 games (nearly 6k total played) as Meditation Guardian and I know every single variation of this particular spec. I am also very familiar with every weapon and can easily switch between them. I do realize you have filled the Guard spots but I have been looking for a team to play with – so keep me in mind! There are however a few concerns I have: my ping isnt the greatest because atm I live in south italy, obviously the time difference and the fact that I am only available from around 730pm to 1030pm on weekdays (generally free on weekends.)

I am pve geared and am familiar with WvW. Rank 20ish in soloq atm (best 7) and 260ish in teamq (did not have a constant team, best 130). I have played many top players 1v1 and beaten most of them as well.

Haha! Well that’s that then! I was just curious what other people thought, and I’m actually pleasantly surprised to hear some support for the mace!

Things must have really changed around here since I last visited the forums: used to be you’d get shanked by a baker’s dozen if you even mentioned weapons other than GS/Sword, lol xD

If you havent tried a full writ build with mace and gs/hammer i highly suggest you do! No other build has given me similar results.. if you have symbol duration the clunkiness wont be as bad

Hello all

I recently moved to Italy from Florida and I just installed a Wimax internet setup.. the issue is that playing on NA servers is god awful about 90% of the time though I am able to play other games (such as BF4) properly in EU servers at a steady 70-100ms.

If I were to transfer to EU would I be able to play lag-free? Have any of you had similar issues?

I’ve done it many times but it usually works best with classes that have very quick CC such as a Thief’s Headshot or a Mesmer’s Magic Bullet. Remember, every animation has to be completed thoroughly in order for a combo to go through.

Lo and behold, we have chill on hammer crit. We also have chill on hit and chill on weapon swap. Now, since I’d these options aren’t class specific, but they are options and it’s up to people to take them.

Of course it’s possible to maximize different conditions via gear, but I’m not about to run some gimmicky build just to get some soft CC

Not the same. You can’t use your PvE/WvW gear. If I wanna test my WvW build with my buddy, I can’t. Going into SPvP isn’t the same. The numbers are different. I don’t get why people are against having dueling. Just make it so you can only duel people on your friend list.

I’m on TC; I don’t roleplay, but I don’t mind watching it. You ever see an RP duel? It’s really boring. If only they had a way to actually fight each other instead of doing the in game equivalent of LARPing.

What you’re suggesting is open-world PvP, which is a dead horse that has been beaten to a bloody pulp, so don’t insult my intelligence with nonsense about wanting to test your build with your friend. Yes, the ‘numbers are lower in PvP, but the gear is balanced in the same manner so the outcome of your ’build testing’ will be fairly reliable.

As for the RPers need open-world PvP to spice up their “boring” playstyle, you said yourself that you’re not an RPer so you don’t have any business making assertions on their behalf. I also think that most of them would be offended at your degrading claims/opinion of their preferred style of play. Surely, when they can’t to truly fight things, they go out to an appropriate location and ‘hunt down the Champion Troll that wrecked their close-friend’s villa’.

In just this same manner, if you want to do battle against other players, you can venture off to one of the SEVERAL designated PvP areas and duke it out till the cow’s come home. Trying to put a silly new spin on a very old (and largely undesired) debate is insincere, and seems even more so when you drag a group of players into the mix to ‘support your cause’ who never asked for any such thing.

Dueling =/= Open world PvP. Why are you so against it? Just don’t take part in it if you don’t want it. It should be an opt-in system that is limited to your friends. Nothing wrong with that.

Anything related to PvP outside of PvP disgusts tman, obviously, which is why he’s riding on the but-not-everyone-wants-it train. If it doesn’t affect you negatively and it can help other players yet, you’re still avidly against it, you’re just a little self-absorbed

They are separate classes, heavy armor or not, so the comparison ends there. Those comparisons are not sensible since professions are intended to be conceptually different.

I know where your coming from. While we are both keenly aware of how the speed of Guardian affects it’s ability to do damage, it appears that this fact hasn’t affected your strategy to PVPing on Guardian.

Your statement about sitting in a place and DPSing seems to indicate to me that you haven’t expanded your ability to PVP with a team and instead, are attempting to enhance a weakness which can only bring about mediocre results. You really can’t compete if that’s your approach because fundamentally, Guardian is a grouping profession and taking advantage of who and what is happening around you is imperative to success. The mobility isn’t a flaw, it’s a limitation. It’s only a flaw when players don’t recognize how this limitation SHOULD affect their application of the class in PVP. Once you get past trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, you will see how the profession fits in the PVP meta.

I had a strong team going for about 2 months and I always played DPS Guard. We sat between 150-200 in TeamQ consistently throughout the last month of that. In soloQ I consistently rank 50-100. I do know what my strengths and limitations are, which is exactly why I believe that mobility is an issue.

I was referring to you, as a PvE player, when I made the statement about DPSing in place. There’s nothing else to DPS in PvE, period.

Nearly 3,000 games as a Guardian has definitely taught me how to work around the mobility deficiency and I can pretty much 1v1 anyone. In team fights I don’t simply mash my keys and go through the best DPS rotation, which is probably what you think I do. Instead of making assumptions about my own skill level and limiting yourself based on your conceptualization of the class, perhaps you ought to consider the broader spectrum of DPS classes to see how miserably Guardian fails in the mobility and soft CC department. They are fundamental aspects to successfully delivering damage as melee, there is no arguing against that.

So I’m the one that doesn’t make sense when I say that Guardians having a deficiency is normal, yet you think it’s unreasonable for them to have this deficiency because WARRIORS have … whatever? That is what I’m talking about when I say that Guardians have and haven’t got certain things and this is what makes them Guardians.

I think suggestions to land hits inline with the Guardian theme, it seems to me that the speed buffing is the least relevant. I would much rather see some thoughtful approach to making hits connect with targets; that’s much more palatable than a more powerful, general speed buff.

I would be more apt to have the passive increase duration of speed buffs (not give them) and the active be something similar to a Hammer #5. I don’t feel something along the lines of those ideas violates the concept of the profession and still provides real, useful utility.

Warriors and Guardians are the only two heavy armored classes, that’s the reason why I compared them. Outside of mobility, the main deficiency of Meditation (in PvP, though I’m sure it applies to PvE as well) is longevity since most survivability comes from active sources – and I’m fine with that. I’m not even asking for a colossal buff to speed (as you said “powerful”) but it would help the class land shots since it lacks 1. soft cc and 2. swiftness.

I take it you play much more PvE than PvP, otherwise you would definitely know where I’m coming from. Hitting A.I.’s and stacking is one thing, but when you have active players easily outrunning your hits, there is a problem. In order to make up for the fact that they have to be in range, melee classes need either CC, soft CC and mobility. Warrior has all, while Guardian has little CC (GS/Hammer) and no mobility nor soft CC.

I don’t play DPS and go through my rotation sitting in place like you do. There is a flaw with this class, and it is mobility. Also, mind your sentence wording.

The whole idea behind having more mobility is to hit enemies during battle more efficiently, and actually have a chance at chasing someone down. With that being said, how many seconds of uptime would the 25% passive speed on aegis actually be? I’d say it’d be very low. Unscathed contender is already tricky enough to use on small bursts during battle, I can’t imagine your proposed trait actually doing anything during battle.

To be honest, I’m against the idea of making Guardian faster period. While this is a nice academic discussion, I believe from a conceptual view, it’s not what the class is about. I also don’t think we should ignore the things that makes the profession unique in the game, even if those things are deficiencies. These threads simply illustrate those things that intentionally separate the professions by more than just their name.

That makes no sense. Warriors have a ton of defenses and are heavy as well, but they have access to more leaps, lunges and perma-swiftness. Conceptually I never thought of warriors as ultra mobile and in many games they aren’t; you’re bringing in subjectivity here.

Outside of s/x (which I don’t particularly enjoy) the mobility blows and picking speed/traveler runes gimps DPS enough not to make meditation worth it in a lot of cases, especially when you could use runes such as Strength, Pirate or Pack.

What is the point of a DPS class if you can’t land blows? It’s nonsense. Just to give you an example, Retribution Paladins in WoW did not have any soft CC but they had bursts of speed to help land blows and it felt great and synergetic with that particular spec.

Anet just overhauled runes and sigils, along with giving each prof 5 new grandmaster traits. If you don’t think that’s changing classes, I don’t know what.

You are fooled into thinking anything changed for Guardians, then. Aside from the new GM in Zeal (+33% burning damage), I haven’t seen a single player use one of the traits for PvP. Bunker and support guards were in a fine spot; DPS, the only spec that needed some love, did not actually get anything. In my opinion all the new grand master traits are pretty lackluster and pointless.

Plus, rune and sigil changes were long overdue.

4th master trait replaces retal duration, which is merged with retaliatory subconscious. Changed to +11% speed for each virtue on (passive or active? There’re good reasons for either). Boom, done.

I do like the idea but I don’t think you could merge +11% speed per Virtue on top of having retaliatory subconscious without it being overpowered. If anything you’d have to replace retaliatory subconscious altogether, which won’t happen.

None of this is even remotely likely.

I’ve put about 1000 hours into my DPS Guard and the only real flaw I can think of is mobility.

While it is true that Anet hasn’t done jack kitten in the past months, I do recall them buffing Necromancers by giving them #5 in DS – perhaps they will finally admit that Guards need some love in the mobility department and they will come up with something along the lines of a 4th virtue. Unfortunately, this would require a re-work of the last trait line which is something I doubt they would get into.

Guardian Builds that use Soldiers?

Yesterday I decided to put a Soldier’s amulet in my usual Zerker Symbol build and it was nothing short of amazing – this is in sPvP.

The build is 1/0/6/6/0. Pick II in the first line, I, X or VII, XII in Valor and full writs in Honor. Greatsword + Mace/Focus. Use Runes of Strength + Sigil of Strength/Battle on GS and Battle/Force on M/F. The damage is definitely there and the survivability is insane. Definitely worth trying imo!
