p2w
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, omg you guys think this is a pay to win game. ive never laughed so hard in my life. Gw2 does their cash shop right, their items in there offer absolutely NO combat advantage. It is merely items of convience and just because you dont want to buy them you cry Pay 2 win! omg not fair.
Seriously… comming from Aion a true pay to win game where you need to spend easily $200 to get your armor in fighting condition, your petty argument is halarious
Guild Wars 2 is better than Aion… Got it. Now who asked about Aion? Don’t get sidetracked, they took convenience away, then offered what we already had… In the store.
You’re right. They took away convenience…which doesn’t make the game pay to win. Which is what some people are claiming. The poster you’re quoting was talking about another game that is P2W (and there are tons of them), to negate an argument he disagreed with.
No one is saying that the game didn’t take away a convenience here, as far as I can tell. And I think it’s pretty annoying to be honest. I won’t buy an airship pass for this reason. I’d recommend others not buy one too, to show Anet that we don’t like this.
But I don’t think it’ll make any difference at all, because there are too many people who don’t see where this eventually leads.
Games population is fine. It’s certainly not dying. It’s probably not growing either. There are areas of the world on certain servers that aren’t often used, but if you’re going where the action is, there’s plenty of people.
Hell, it takes a couple of minutes to find a group for pretty much any dungeon at any hour. At least any explorable mode dungeon (the rewarding ones lol).
There are a couple of reasons to do them. A guaranteed rare means a chance at an ecto during salvage…it’s how I got enough ectos to make a legendary weapon. It’s basically free ectos, and that’s how I see it. If I get an ecto from that, and it costs me a single teleport, that’s 28 silver profit for a few minutes.
Some people don’t enjoy dungeons, so it’s how they farm. Others’ who don’t do dungeons might do the champ train.
Dungeons are probably better money than these options but they require dealing with other people. I don’t mind that, but others do.
If you think the only reason to do the events is to get exotics, think about how easy most of the events are in the first place. When it comes to risk vs reward, most meta events are still relatively easy And there are plenty of times I get multiple yellows which gives me more than an ecto.

If you care about it, join TTS as a second guild and get your achievement. Or guest to one of the servers that does it every day at reset time. It’s not impossible to do this if you want to.
I kill Tequatl with TTS several times a week.
Thank you, I’ve googled up your guild and it sounds great, but I didn’t learn from there if you are from EU or US region. I’m from EU….
Edit: I just did… so NA and oceanic…well, nevermind
There’s definitely guilds in EU that do this too. Sorry mate!
Must be a very offensive name if you’re still worried about it a week later…
there are laws protecting people getting offended on the internet, so yes, I’d say it is completely justified for him to be offended at an inappropriate name 1 week after seeing it, and that authorities should take action against it.
People get hurt over a name, lol you young people are so weak
I’d wager there are as many older people that are offended as younger people. A lot has to do with how you’re raised and what you can expect in a “public” setting. A lot of younger people have different rules for the Internet and real life. A lot of older people don’t.
Be glad you can at least get Tequatl down…. on Gandara it is almost always a failure. I still miss turret defender achiev so bye bye for the title which others got during the bugged easy mode period at the revampedTequatl launch.
And 1790 dragonite ore and karma sips are very nice loot too. I would gladly give you my exotics for that DrO.

I have a love/hate relationship with this game. There are things I really like about it, and things that really annoy me. However, since most MMOs are so mediocre, Guild Wars 2 is the best of a sorry lot. And I don’t see anything coming out soon that will change that.
Still, I’ll never stop complaining because it could always be better than it is now.
it’s true, basic gw2 edition = kitten drops
heroic and above edition = good drops
RNG is scam
For what reason? How does that even make any sense? If it’s not advertised that way, it makes no sense to do it, because it’s not an incentive to buy. Anyway, I get crap drops and I bought the collectors edition.
Unfortunately Queensdale is a starter area and those are starter bags that are dropped so if you farm the Queensdale champs then you are going to get the started bags, live with it.
What’s funny tho is that it’s ONLY Queensdale champs that drop those bags. I don’t recall ever getting one of these bags from any champ in any other starter zone.
Nah, I’ve gotten them in Wayfarer Foothills as well, and in the Charr starter area, now that I think about it.
I think the secret here is inflation. But then, I’ve enjoyed a lot of content that the OP has missed by letting inflation do the work for him.
The other way to do it is to play the game, not focus so heavily on rewards, save a few things from earlier Living Stories without selling them right away until they go up in price and have the same result without playing other games.
To be sure, there’s nothing wrong with playing other games, but this game is fine to play if you care about stuff besides rewards. And even those who play for rewards, there are several items you’d miss that are account bound you can’t buy them in that time.
So just learn to hold on to a few things that might sell for more down the line.
Three or four players can easily beat this encounter, particularly if they stack on each other and jump over the head slamming attack. Stay out of circles and rez each other when they go down.
The wurm queen has been beaten many times.
They must be really desperate for people to look at their precious gem-store if they are giving stuff away.
I got a free toothpaste sample from Colgate at my dentist. Guess Colgate must be desperate.
OP, might I pose a question? If you’ve been playing all along, and you’ve been doing those bosses for months, and suddenly something new and exciting came out, something Anet has been teasing for weeks….where would you be?
I finally got credit, what I did was stay on top of moa’s spamming my 1 skill and occasionally an AOE skill I do not think I got any killing shot on any mob. Just make sure you’re at the spawn when the event starts (40 min past hour) and stay on top of the moa’s (I stayed in the middle of the moa’s). Attack mobs quickly so they attack you and not the moa’s
I’ve done this and didn’t get the achievement.
I thought you crafted it, choose the stats and the stats determined the color, just like ascended weapons. Am I wrong?
Just wait until Wildstar
Have seen it, not impressed
Yeah, I don’t really understand the Wildstar hype either. Its a completely different game from GW2 — its just another WoW clone in a long line of clones.
Ah yes..because running around completing hearts all day is a lot more engaging.
My friend, if that’s how you’re playing this game…I’m pretty sure you’re doing it wrong. lol
Oh then please enlighten me, Make sure not to add the skill-less “zerg fest” pathetic excuse for pvp content or their pathetic excuse of a crafting system, please enlighten me, please make sure not to add the boring same events that happen in different zones that are suppose to make things more “fun” go ahead enlighten me, think about it for a bit I’ll be waiting.
Pretty hard to elighten someone on an opinion. You’re absolutely entitled to hate this game if that’s your choice. It’s not really up to me to tell you not to hate it, or convince you that it’s good. But it’s obvious to me that some people are enjoying it.
That’s what’s great about freedom. Everyone is capable of making up their own minds about whether they like a game or not. Of course, I don’t hang out in forums of games I don’t like posting about how I don’t like them in appreciate threads. Not really sure what that’s about.
The story about blowing up Ascalon in gw1 was a bit better than this to be honest.
Really? I’m not sure I remember it being better. A single cauldron the size of an easy chair shoots out enough giant crystals to destroy an entire city and the surrounding area? Breech the wall? Provided by the titan (who I thought were locked behind the door of Komalie at that point anyway).
The stuff two years later was pretty good, but the actually destruction of Ascalon compared to the destruction of LA? I’m not even sure how you’d begin to compare it.
Standing around in the Ascalon outpost didn’t make me feel like I was in the middle of a war zone.

Wildstar has some good points (including a robust player housing system), but I still think it’s going to under perform on the big stage.
No guarantee it’s March. They said there’s be a break at the end of the living story season 1, and then there’s be a feature patch. I wouldn’t expect it before April at the earliest and on one knows how long that break will be.
GW2 is way bigger than Prophecies was at release.
Interestingly people like to throw around tons of numbers
Those are called facts, it’s what people tend to use in arguments
but they don’t like to throw number of professions and number of races.
gw1 had more professions… not at release no, but gw2 is not at release, it’s been out for over a year
They also don’t like to talk about crafting.
Because it’s boring as kitten
GW1 added very few in terms of free content.
And that’s why the content added in gw1 vastly superior. Free =/= better
People just don’t understand that GW1 basically had a tiny Live Team while GW2 has a decently sized live team.
Indeed, gw2 has a lot more developers working on it. So why are we getting less?Guild Wars 2 at release has indeed more content than Guild Wars 1 at release. But in the end, gw1 got tons more content and guild wars 2 is not at release anymore.
Guild wars 2 was bigger than guild wars 1 after all it’s updates.
You are comparing GW2 to GW Prophecies right? I would hope so.
Actually Guild Wars 2 is bigger than Prophecies, Factions, and NF as far as content goes, if you just look at content. The quality of the content if vastly different, but the amount of content is objectively greater in Guild Wars 2.
Look at the number of quests in total in the three games, and add it up together. It’s under 1000 quests. Add in about 70 missions, and a five elite areas. That’s the content.
Guild Wars 2 has 1500 dynamic events, which is more than the quests in all 3 games put together. That’s not including hearts. And while I prefer the missions in Guild Wars 1 to the story quests in Guild Wars 2 over all, there are still more story quests than there were missions. Then there are not only 8 dungeons and fractals, but each dungeon has multiple paths.
The only way Guild Wars 1 was really superior, and it was superior, was in PvP. Guild Wars 1 was a PvPer’s paradise. Guild Wars 2 not so much.
But in PvE content alone….there really is no comparison, no matter which game you liked best.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved games like Factions, but you know, you could beat it in a day.
I agree with your second and third comments but I strongly disagree with your first.
Who’s to say a living word with specific technology can’t include waypoints? They’re part of the game. Waypoints don’t break my immersion any more than walking through a zone gate does.
They’re also completely optional. Removing waypoints would punish people who want to play the game differently from you. Your other suggestions would not.
This game need an expansion 3-6 months ago….the game is coming to and end….as soon you will have some competition that will pretty much kill this game except for the hardcore folks who will stick around.
By competition you mean games that will have a subscription fee?
Which games are going to “kill” GW2?No game really ever kills another, they do that to themselves.
Having said that, if EQN lives up to even a fraction of it’s potential, other mmos competing against it will have a hard time.
Nah. If it lives up to a fraction of its potential, no matter how good it is, people will be disappointed, and feel disenfranchised and leave.
Isn’t that what happened to this game?
As long as it is better than it’s competitors, living up to just a fraction of it’s potential (particularly when it comes from a historically renowed franchise) is more than enough.
You could argue that even if it lives up to just a fraction of it’s potential, it will still blow most other games out of the water, including this one. For all the hype this game had, the potential was/is just nowhere near that of EQN.
Again, for all that, games kill themselves in the long run. You don’t get a silver bullet delivered by another mmo (or at least that is not usually the case) and ultimately, EQN might turn out to be crud.
I’m definitely not sure I agree with this. I don’t think EQN has more potential than this game. I think the game has equal potential. That is to say, everything has great potential on paper.
But that game, when it comes out, will be a new game. New games are often notoriously buggy. Guild Wars 2, by then, will have probably another year to fix things up, come out with new things… and you know…it’s still free to play and people who’ve invested time and energy in an MMO aren’t necessarily interested in starting over elsewhere.
I’ve seen pretty much everything there is to see about EQN, and on paper it looks really good. But it doesn’t look better on paper than Guild Wars 2 did at the same point in development.
Anyway, I still bought into the EQ Landmark alpha to play around. But I’m fully aware that when a game is a year out, anything I think about it is probably wrong. lol
I get where you’re coming from mate. I find that he who lives by the zerg, dies by the zerg.
In WvW for example, I run havoc groups, small groups of people who take objectives and distract people from what the zerg is doing, it’s a blast.
In Lion’s Arch, I concentrate on non-zerg things. For example, you can go into LA now, and instead of going with the zerg, go into the back areas, kill stuff with a small group, rescue people and lead them out. This helps the side and most people aren’t doing it.
You can also (and I plan to do this) take a character that hasn’t completed LA, and try to get zone completion in the time limit.
Just because a zerg is present doesn’t mean you need to follow it around.

I just love the title of this thread. Europe is disappointed. I assume you’re talking about all of Europe and speaking for everyone in Europe.
Entire game releases get delayed all the time. The patch never gave a time. They ran into a snag. Anyone who wouldn’t come back to the game over this wouldn’t have stayed anyway (and probably wouldn’t be doing the community any favors if they did).
Selling “runs” was done in Guild Wars 1 all the time. I don’t think Anet would be in principle against it for that reason.
Obviously if someone is kicking people to have a spot to sell, that should be a bannable offense.
The reason why the perosonal story is all over the place is because Anet is trying to offer different content to different groups of people.
There are people who play this game who have never done a dungeon. There are people who never set foot inside PvP. There are people who find the open world and dynamic events boring and repetitive. There are people who love challenging content. There are people who hate challenging content.
So Anet tries to provide stuff for everyone. In the Queen’s Pavilion event for example, there was something for farmers (the pavilion), something for those who like challenges (the Gauntlet), something for people who like open world zerging (The Scarlet invasions), something for people who like easier open world events (the Balloon events). That’s why the living story seems all over the place.
As for Scarlet’s goal? Well we know she’s insane…possibly driven so by an Asuran experiment. Does every insane character need an easy to follow goal?
I was under the impression from what I read on the website that her goal was to destroy everything just to see what would grow in its place. It might not be a goal that a sane person would understand, but you know, she’s not playing with a full deck.
Anyway, I think the general narrative of the game could be strengthened a lot…I particularly think that all the stories on the website should be something included somehow in game.
But then, most people probably skip the stories anyway or don’t care about them.
I don’t know if Guild Wars 2 is a “great” game…but I can say without a doubt that compared to other MMOs, it’s great for me. That is, this game is more fun than any other MMO I’ve set foot in, by a long shot.
So yes, keep up the good work. Can’t wait to see the Tower of Terror.
Some risen move slow and some move faster. There are different types moving at different speeds. Part of survival is knowing which is which.
If you’re asking the question honestly, it’s a cross-genre game. It has magic, which is fantasy. Adding technology doesn’t make it science fiction. Some would call it science fantasy..but many games/books and such have been going cross genre. It’s been happening for a long time.
Badgering posters about how they FEEL about the game only serves to reinforce those original feelings…it does NOT change them. Just a casual read of the previous several pages highlights this…..most of the “to-and-froing” was only personal opinion…..NO ONE’s opinion is right or wrong….it is a product of their experiences and values…..these cannot be overcome by howling them down…..winning a “debate” on these forums does not change opinions.
These forums are for players to express their likes and dislikes in the game and posters should be allowed to freely express those feelings. This is almost the ONLY way ANet can get real feedback…….if they and/or the cheersquad keep trying to suppress contrary opinions they might as well close the forums to public posting.
But what if the majority of players are satisfied, and only a small percentage of very vocal people are represented here? Will that give Anet the information they need to move the game forward? Are the cheerleading squad, as you put it, really representing a minority?
I don’t know myself. I just think it’s odd that you talk about people being able to freely express an opinion, but you’re somehow trying to devalue the opinion of people who freely express an opinion that happens not to be the opinion of people who don’t like something.
I think everyone should be able to express their opinions, even people who like the game as it is.
You can also get full claim tickets, not just scraps, from black lion chests.
People are angry for a reason.
People hate temporary content for a reason.
People hate ascended gear for a reason.
People hate class imbalance for a reason.
People hate server imbalance for a reason.
People hate constant buggy content for a reason.
People hate watching you making the same mistakes over and over for a reason. Why don’t you understand that?
You make it sound like no one at all likes the changes. People don’t hate these things, some people do, at least in regards to temporary content and ascended gear. Some things you call mistakes, other people quite like. The balance stuff, well yeah, that needs a whole lot of work…but if you keep using the world people as if everyone things the same, you completely lose any kind of credibility.
I just don’t get this always stay positive philosophy anet has. For example if someone punches you in the face you don’t just go " oh please don’t do that again have a nice day" you tell the off or run. In reality every decision you make is going to have positive and negative consequences. Ignoring the problems is only going to fuel the fire.
Terrible analogy…just terrible.
If someone offers me pancakes and I don’t like pancakes, that’s not a slap in the face. In fact, that’s not even illegal. Anet didn’t assault anyone. Anet made content that some people liked, and some people didn’t like. Saying that it’s a slap in the face is a figure of speech and trying to use it as an analogy for anything else is just wrong.
Where the hell is Vayne when you need him?!
vayne i think anet should hire you
I don’t think Anet would ever hire that guy. Why would they?
But your “logic” isn’t being used to solve what seems to be a significant problem. Mine is.
And what problem is that? Berserkers killing faster than other stat types? You don’t say. Not sure if serious.
Any stat type that is so dominant that it’s the only stat type anyone wants limits build variety and is a problem. If everyone is pretty much forced to take one stat type because it’s so much better, it’s a problem.
Those who live by the BIS gear, die by the BIS gear.
I can do everything I want without BIS gear, so I’m quite happy with the game.
The very things you want in your game, OP, are the very things that will make me leave the game.
I think you are better off playing games made for players like you. This game is made for players like me.
I think there should be at least one of those floating around somehow.
Yes and no . Complaining for complaint sake is pointless and achieves nothing . Constructive criticism is another story . Unfortunately constructive criticism is the exception not the rule on this forum
While I see your point, I’d argue that blindly praising the game for the sake of praising it is equally worthless, and achieves an equal amount of nothing. It provides absolutely no constructive feedback to let ANet know what, specifically, they are doing right.
Non-constructive praise isn’t any more worthwhile than non-constructive criticism.
I actually disagree with this. Non-constructive criticism (being a hater) divides the community and created a lot of tension. If a person says this game is amazing and leaves it at that, people may disagree, but nobody is going to be angry/offended. If someone says this game is horrible and leaves it at that, quite the opposite, everyone who disagrees will be deeply offended and feel sorry for the poor Devs. This is even worse when you consider the fact that non-constructive criticism simply breeds a negative atmosphere, it’s actually damaging. On the other hand, non-constructive praise breeds a very positive atmosphere, and can be very helpful to the community (even if it’s useless for development).
I think blind fanaticism on either side can be offensive. If someone is a hater it kitten es off people who like the game. If someone is a white knight, it kitten es off people who feel they have legitimate grievances about the game.
Both sides are equally dismissive.
