I know some clipping happens, but this one was pretty bad. Fractal shield with asura engineer.
Nothing would make me more excited than a fleshing out of more GW1 lore. Right now, there are so many places in Tyria that we can’t access – The Maguuma Wastes, the Crystal Desert, the Dominion of Winds. GW1 players have attachments to these places and want to see what has changed in 250 years. I’d love to help the ghosts of Augury Rock fight branded. I’d love to revisit the Maguuma Bloodstone or the Ring of Fire. I’d love to finally see what Janthir is like, or delve deep into the earth to get back to the Central Transfer Chamber to study the spot where Primordius awakened, or find stone dwarven sentinels.
I don’t hate Scarlet, or the Aetherblades, and I can even reconcile myself with the weird canon-bending alliances between races that should never be allied (I’m looking at you, Molten and Toxic alliances), but I want to feel like the world I’m living in is very much the same world from GW1. Why reinvent the wheel when you have a perfectly good wheel sitting right there?
What I want from the living story is not new, inconsequential new mysteries to solve in two weeks. I want to work to solve some of Guild Wars’ oldest mysteries, of which there are MANY. Wizard’s Tower, anyone?
I dream of playable Mursaat. Even without super-OP spectral agony, they were an awesome-looking race.
Mad about this, it’s the whole reason I bothered buying one.
Found this a little odd. After SAB W2 tribulation mode, I went ahead and got the torch skin only to find that it doesn’t actually give off any light.
Here’s two screenshots in the same place with the same graphics settings. The first is with a normal torch, the second is with the storm wizard torch. As you can see, the storm wizard torch does not illuminate anything around it. I have not tested, but this may be true for the super and king toad torches as well.

How about this:
Remove the dragon’s health bar. Instead, allow us to target subsections of the dragon, each with their own health bars and condition caps. When, say, 75% of them are dead, the dragon dies.
This kills two birds with one stone.
1) Condition classes are happy because there are multiple areas to target, each with their own condition stacks, so if an area is being focused hard, a condition build can just hit something else.
2) Dragon fights become more interesting than just “stand there and beat on a foot until it dies.”
Hitpoints in games have always been an attempt to simulate real wounds without all of the necessary computing that actually simulating real wounds would take. In real life, if you stab someone in the foot, it hurts them, but if you keep stabbing them in the same foot, eventually it’s not going to hurt them any more than it already has. Eventually, there isn’t anything left there to destroy. Hitpoints don’t accurately reflect that, especially with very large targets – and we accept that abnormality because hitpoints have been around for so long and no one has ever seemed to come up with anything better.
Well, guess what? This changes that. Now, you can beat on the foot for a while, but when the foot reaches damage saturation (the foot runs out of hitpoints), you have to target something else, and the dragon doesn’t die until 75% of the targets on its body are dead. So instead of three people beating on a foot, you have a warrior smacking the feet, a ranger hitting the head or the tail, and a necromancer making it spray blood from its abdomen. More interesting.
Thoughts?
I propose that stupid suggestions to implement more time-gating be limited to once per account per day.
See you guys tomorrow.
Considering this bad boy will drop ascended weapons, I think you will be lucky if you’re not stuck in the overflow once Teq. is up. Seriously. I think people will wait 30 minutes in advance inside the zone to get a guaranteed spot when the event pops.
Until people realize that the chance of getting an ascended weapon is probably about the same as the chance of getting hit with a hailstone in the middle of the Sahara.
I sincerely hope I’m wrong, but given the history with precursors, I’m skeptical.
Honestly, while it may take 2 weeks (time gated) to get the materials to craft those weapons, the rest of it’s not really time gated. You can spend that time leveling your crafting, gathering mats, doing other stuff.
And really, you don’t need an Ascended Weapon. Yes, they’re better than exotics, but the whole idea is you don’t need Ascended stuff to play GW2. We kind of all knew there was going to be a bit of time related grind to Ascended items, kind of like there was for getting the Laurel ascended equipment as well.
You don’t really need exotic either, do you? I mean, what’s stopping you from playing the game in all white gear? Or even rares? Why don’t you 1v1 some folks in WvW in all rares and let me know how that turns out. Maybe you’re good, maybe you win sometimes, but the fact is you won’t ever do as well as you would be doing with better gear. A handicap is a handicap, no matter what you call it.
This latest livestream and news/blog post pretty much confirm everything we’ve been thinking, and it’s even worse than we were thinking, in my opinion.
This is a convoluted and confusing timesink of new materials and upgraded old materials. And to top it off, it’s adding even more uses for the current T6 mats, which is going to drive up the cost of making exotic gear and stifle the build variety in that tier because because of the higher costs. If you’re going to add a new tier, it need an entirely new set of materials.
RIP 7.5 of my 8 characters. I include the half because I guess changing builds isn’t going to be realistic anymore, either.
I miss having the freedom to do content at my own pace. If I want to spend a full day working on an ascended weapon, why shouldn’t I be able to do that?
And if I get through all of the “content” and have nothing left to do, isn’t that my problem?
TWO WEEKS to craft a single ascended weapon————what in the &$#%???
Quoted because this bears repeating.
Anet has learned from their mistakes.
Exactly. In GW1, pets used to get massacred by spectral agony before they finally made a change that made pets inherit the infusions from their owners. They learned from their mistake.
Which is why pets inherited their master’s agony resistance when fractals were released, right?
crickets

So to upgrade all of the weapon sets for one of my characters, it will take me 42 weeks at “only two weeks per weapon.”
I have seven more characters and ascended armor is coming in a few months. How many years will I have to play, Anet, before I can get my characters right back to where they are right now – on the same level as everyone else?
I thought this game was supposed to be different.
The slap in the face isn’t SAB, it’s “oh, here’s a new tier of weapons that make the 100+ you already own obsolete, and btw they’re time-gated.”
Eh, we already knew they were coming. They already said ascended weapons and armor by the end of the year. Must be you didn’t read that article…
Does the fact that we knew they were coming make it any less a slap in the face?
I love that it will take me time and money to reach the same level I’m at right now…
…said no one, ever.
The slap in the face isn’t SAB, it’s “oh, here’s a new tier of weapons that make the 100+ you already own obsolete, and btw they’re time-gated.”
One of the books on the bookshelf in the SAB shops was titled “Princess Miya Is Not Moto.” Seems legit.
Sorry but ascended weaponry will be a requirement if you don’t wanna lag behind others in WvW… It’s already bad enough you can feel slightly hampered being in exotic trinkets if your enemy has ascendeds… Imagine if the gap is enlarged by weapons as well which are the biggest chunk of effectiveness when it comes to gear.
I have eight characters with multiple weapon sets. Even if I were to fork over 50 bucks for enough transmutation crystals to keep their looks (which I’m not happy about), the time-gating component means that it’s going to take an eternity just to get my characters up to par again.
What about this was supposed to be fun, exactly?
Dualwield? You are concerned about dualwield? My warrior alone has over 12 different weapons and I use all of them frequently.
12.
Just my warrior.Waht teh KITTEN!
Ascended in general is a massive kick in the genitals for anyone that enjoys build or character variety.
I got into GW2 because it promised to remove most of the treadmill associated with the generic kitten MMOs (i.e.: basically all of them). It’s slowly seeping this kitten back in, and with it my interest in this game is vanishing quickly.
I want a game, not a job. I expect to get paid for working, not the other way around.
I have eight characters with multiple weapon sets. Assuming i can replace those all with ascended ones before I die from old age, I’d need over a hundred transmutation crystals to preserve the appearances – which would get me right back to where I am now, with best-in-slot gear with the appearances i like.
I’m extremely upset over this decision.
Since this original bug that this thread was made for has been fixed, I’ve opened up a new thread for the new issues that have arisen since then. Follow that here:
The most recent patch fixed the issue with zodiac sword skins being account bound, but now there’s a problem with the trading post. You can list a zodiac sword skin for sale, but anyone interested in buying is unable to see the listing.
The following screenshots were taken in quick succession. The first shows that there are two zodiac sword skins on the trading post, listed at just over 50g. The second and third screenshots show that a search for “zodiac,” performed only seconds later, does not show the sword skins as available to buy, even though two have been listed.
Thanks to Haggy.9238 for agreeing to sell me his zodiac sword skin through a mail trade so I could test and accurately report this issue.
(edited by Nar.8327)
So they aren’t showing up in TP searches for you either?
Here are those pictures I put up again, this time I’ve uploaded them properly.
No. When I search “zodiac,” i get 15 results. When I search “zodiac sword,” the greatsword skin comes up. If yours can be attached and you’re interested in trading by mail, I sent you a PM, but if you’re uncomfortable with that, I understand and I’ll just have to wait on a fix.
(edited by Nar.8327)
Talked with Sploosh in game, apparently Zodiac sword skins cannot be mailed, either.
I’m guessing this is the same issue that people with pre-existing fused and sclerite skins are encountering, except that since there aren’t any zodiac swords on the trading post, there isn’t a currently a workaround.
Sword skin is still not sellable although it is not accountbound.
Thank you, sploosh. Can it be mailed? I’m not asking you to mail it to me, just to see if the mail window allows you to attach it.
All I want to do is buy a sword :c

Hobo-Tron is hands down the best character in this game. I would pay 20 bucks for a mini one with a little hobo sack.
Help i just noticed my bank has been Robbed ! ! ! Scarlet stole my watchknight it seems to turn it into one of her vile creations. Please arrest her and return my property.
When I first noticed, I thought this might have actually been what happened.
..,Which I guess I could report, also. Minor bug – taking a screenshot in game with the print screen key hides any mouse-over windows.
Pictures of the issue, in case they help.
EDIT: Had to take new ones with fraps because GW2’s screenshot function hides the item information window.
(edited by Nar.8327)
I can confirm as well.
This all smells like a thinly-veiled ploy to sell transmutation stones.
I’d be happy if they just fixed the bug that was causing the sword skin to be the only one that’s account bound. Figures that the only one I’d have any interest in buying is bugged.
I also had this problem, then I tried to do the events without using any waypoints. I instantly got the achievement after 5 portals. I think it’s possible that waypointing resets the portal count.
I didn’t WP either. Plus, even if WPing DID reset the counter, it doesn’t make sense for me to still have 0/5 (or 0/1, not sure which) on the achievement panel. I should AT LEAST have 1 if WPing resets the counter.
There is no “at least one” with this achievement. It is all or nothing. You either closed 5 portals in 15 minutes or you didn’t or you did but there is a bug but there is no partial completion.
Edit: and go make sure you are actually looking at the right achievement …
I got into the main map with 44/45 minutes (so no aetherblade or molten alliance). I closed five portals, and I KNOW I did because I got the 5/5 portals closed daily (this was right after reset, so these portals weren’t carrying on from a previous instance). On top of this, after my 5/5 portals closed daily checked off, I still had 32 minutes on the timer, meaning it only took me 12 minutes to close all 5.
So even if there isn’t partial completion, which I’ll admit could be possible, from the scenario above I SHOULD have gotten it. I’m not too terribly worried about it, it’s only 5AP, but it is a bug that has happened to me on 3/3 invasions, where 2 of them I was specifically trying to get the swift closer achievement.
A similar thing happened to me, so I just kept going and got it on the seventh portal. Obviously bugged, but something to try in the meantime.
I got it, but I didn’t get it until my seventh portal.
Please delete. Got the achievement now.
Still think there’s a bug in that if you get downed it counts as defeat though.
Yeah, it says “complete Scarlet’s Playhouse without dying,” but being downed counts. Either the achievement text or the actual achievement needs to be changed for consistency.
Title says all. The Zodiac Sword Skin is account bound, while every other zodiac weapon skin can be traded.
Gonna go ahead and throw my lot in here, as well.
My guess is that adrenaline and initiative share a variable, which is only relevant in situations with projectile reflect. I’d be curious – if a warrior reflects unload, does it drain his adrenaline? Probably not substantially, since adrenaline uses higher numerical values than initiative, but it would be interesting to see.

Both superior sigils say that they increase condition duration by 6%.
Is this intended? Condition duration sure doesn’t sound like something that a sigil of “bursting” would be enhancing. Is this supposed to be critical damage instead?
Swords: 2x Dragon’s Jade Lacerators, 2x Zenith Blades, 2x Crystalline Blades, 2x Super Swords, 2x Peacemaker Swords, Jormag’s Breath and Fiery Dragon Sword (I like swords)
Pistols: Dragon’s Jade Flintlock, Guild Pistol
Torches: The Fate of Menzies, Zenith
Scepters: Peacemaker, Emberglow, Princess Wand (thinking about adding Abyssal to the collection)
Foci: Anomaly, Courage, Bell Focus
Staff: Peacemaker, Zenith
Greatsword: Peacemaker, Fellblade
Trident: Peacemaker
Spear: Kamohoali’i Kotaki
I have a separate bank tab just for my mesmer’s extra stuff.

It’s an orange harp with a weird greenish-gold trim, a blue feather, and pink and yellow music notes. I love the model, but it doesn’t even match itself. Obviously a new effect would be nice, but with this color scheme, it’s kind of an eyesore.
What about black and silver? Or… well, literally anything other than what it is right now.
So this broke world completion, dive master, and guild treks… and fixed what, exactly? Was there some pressing reason why a few players being able to get down to the lake under Rata Sum so desperately needed to be dealt with?
Most of us understand that new content sometimes introduces bugs and that bugs require time to fix, but it’s frustrating for the playerbase to see issues stemming from a change that seemingly did nothing to improve the game at all. If there was an apparent reason this change was pushed through, a lot of people would be less upset about it.
If you need this PoI for map completion, there’s an Asuran story quest that takes you into that area. If you’re on an NA server, drop me a line in game (I’m on SBI) and I can get you in there.
Unfortunately, you can’t get the waypoint this way (it’s missing from this instance), and this won’t help with guild treks. Guess we’re going to have to wait for that fix.

Having any type of rewards from HoM means you actually worked hard for it. So in turn, you are indeed deserving of extra points. Gw2 is connected to GW1 in terms of lore. Makes perfect sense for your current character to enjoy some love from the past.
I agree that the the GW1 HoM hard work should be rewarded, but never never in a numerical way! Doing this, Anet is in fact setting a handicap for the players that never played GW1.
Love is a funny word. If they are paying 500 AP to you for the “Love”, what makes you ppl? “Loyalty” should be all about pride! Showing how you played GW1 hard = cosmetics!
So by awarding achievement points for living story content, by your definition, Anet would be “setting a handicap” for players just now getting into the game? Well, duh!
The people who jump on the bandwagon early are ALWAYS going to be better off than the latecomers. That’s not a “handicap,” it’s common sense. How quickly you all forget that without the GW1 players making GW1 so successful, there wouldn’t be a GW2.
And if you’re really that upset about 500 achievement points, Anet isn’t locking you out of them. Everyone with those 500 points ponied up and spent money supporting this franchise – if you want the same reward, why shouldn’t you be held to the same standard? Oh, and have fun with that. You’ll learn quickly, if you try, that 50/50 HoM points is a grind quite unlike anything GW2 will ever throw at you.
For the record, I have 35/50, and I put thousands of hours into GW1. I’m not “mad” about those that got 50/50 because I know just how much work and dedication that took. If you want to be competitive, that’s the price you pay.

Crazy Idea:
What if the level cap was raised, but 80 remained the highest gear requirement?
This wouldn’t have the annoying side effect of invalidating all of your hard earned exotics/ascended pieces, but would allow progression possibly in to new tiers of traits or other such core character advancement systems. In addition, new areas could, like they’ve done with some of the update content, add new stat configurations for more options in terms of horizontal progression.
I’d be fine with this. Right now, my biggest complaint about raising the level cap would be that it invalidates level 80 gear in a thinly veiled ploy to force everyone to buy more transmutation stones, but this would alleviate that concern.
My favorite one that I’ve seen so far has been “Mikhail Gorbacharr.”
Although before the WvW culling fix, there was a thief named Cull Me Maybe. I laughed pretty hard at that one.
So I have a Razer Blackwidow, it comes with 5 macro keys on the side. This means i can record songs once, and just use that button to play them in the future. Is this against the rules? My guildies have been warning me, and I don’t want to get in trouble. Does anyone know if this is allowed? I love the idea of having a Lord of the Rings button…especially since I paid 10 dollars for this virtual horn. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me the official stance on this.
I was wondering the same thing, so I went ahead and sent in a ticket. Here’s what I got:
“According to the Guild Wars 2 Rules of Conduct, you may not use any third-party program (such as a “bot”) in order to automate gameplay functions, including playing, chatting, interacting, or gathering gold or items within Guild Wars 2. You may not assist, relay, or store gold or items for other players who are using these processes.
In this case the third-party program will help “function” or “interact” with the game. We recommend not to do it, because the failure to comply with these rules of conduct may result in the termination of your Guild Wars 2 game account according to the Guild Wars 2 User Agreement."
The short version: No, it’s not allowed.
Still think there’s a bug in that if you get downed it counts as defeat though.
