nope. only need 10. CDR is unimportant on staff as your s/d is main dps. staff is for utility.
I agree wholeheartedly here. Staff is great for throwing down marks on inc (so Greater Marks is a given), but most of your damage is going to be scepter; if it isn’t, you may want to rethink being a condition build.
No way.
It’s so obvious that they just get everyone in one room with their laptops after lunch and throw together a new patch in 15 minutes with copy/pasted code.
I really wish I had a valid argument for this, but alas…
Normally our commanders will calculate how many people your side has and how many people we have. Then for e-honor they ask the number of people we exceed your side to sit out but…people just wont listen.
We do it all for the e-honor!!
It wasn’t stark that took garri and OL, it was me. And we killed the mesmes in inner, even if you portal if you die u cant put the 2nd one up so yeah… I’m done with this topic, those that did it they knew what they were doing.
I am far from the biggest fan of DDLG, but I will tell you that they are a good group of guys who seem to do things pretty above board. This is the first time I have seen them accused of it, and it would thoroughly surprise me if they cheated with the knowledge of their leadership. Anything is possible, but I think you’re barking up the wrong tree here. Just FYI.
Tiers do not exist anymore (tears do obviously), so you will most likely be fighting different server(s). Wait and see what happens tomorrow night.
Be ready for queues on anything above T6. At least you’ll have a chance to get some PvE or crafting in before coming to wvw (if you don’t fall asleep). T6/7/8 servers have great fights and the only queues are on reset night for the most part (~10-20 mins or so on DR on reset night unless you go to EB). IOJ/NSP/GOM/HOD/DR/SF/FC would all probably be a good fit for you. ET has just been beaten into the ground so much that not many people do the wvw thing (from what I understand). Check out http://mos.millenium.org/na/ for the current matchups and results for the past week. Good luck!
It depends a lot on your build.
This topic is an interesting read about some of the offensive attributes (power, precision and critical damage). The posts from Blood Red Arachnid in this topic is also a good read. A few calculators can list how much damage mitigation each degree of Toughness gives you, as well as calculate how much healing you get with different levels of Healing Power.
Thanks, I’ll take a look at those.
Asking for opinions here. For each of these as a primary stat for a build, what’s a good number to start thinking about going with a different gem/rune/etc? Is 1800 Condition Damage enough that you can throw some in power as well, or? Is 2300 Toughness enough to throw some more into Precision? Power in a power build, toughness in a toughness build, etc…
Power
Precision
Condition Damage
Vitality
Toughness
Couldn’t you do this with sPvP and some communication between guilds?
Posts sure are slowing down… we antisocial now? What am I supposed to read at breakfast? I guess I’ll have to check out the news. :p
That might have something to do with this being last week’s thread
Don’t mind me, was 5am…
Thanks for the heads up!

Should be a great matchup this week, good luck!
Yes please, new maps with different architecture that are already in game. Every borderland should be different too, even though it would create some complains (e.g. “easy-mode play when you have best spawn”).
Wouldn’t it make sense for the home server to have an advantage for their own maps though? Not the whole map, just maybe garri or the top half of towers/camps…
As the title says WvWvW is meant for all level players
I am actually surprised, as this is the first time I am seeing this post, and I truly thought there would be more complaints about this shortly after launch. As a whole, I think the GW2 players we have are a bit more mature than those encountered in other games in years past.
I agree, anyone should be able to play in WvW. Especially up-levels from other servers, as they are targeted first on inc and if I get downed.
Also, use AE abilities when fighting multiple foes… the more people you tag (do damage to), the more xp/karma/loot you will get.
Meh, I’d be satisfied with 3 different borderlands at this point. Unless they can find a way to make money off of WvW like they do with all their PvE events, I don’t think we’ll see many changes in WvW. Obviously their focus is going to be their revenue stream.
If the group you are attacking has ae retaliation, then you will go down very fast. The way to counter retaliation is to stop attacking, or if it’s a continuous stream like you’re saying, evade through the damage and hope you kill at least one. With retaliation ebing as visible as it is, you should be able to avoid it easy.
1) Following the commander is a good place to start. Ask every once in a while if anyone has a spot in group (in /say) and try to get in with a guild. Once in a guild, start asking questions about what you don’t understand.
2) Using waypoints will get you there faster, but otherwise you just have to run. Some classes have access to speed (short duration mostly) through abilities or run speed signets.
3) Karma trains are great for xp, it’s basically just a group that goes around flipping objectives for the xp and karma bonus. If you see one advertised in chat, go follow them. Use food as it gives you a +10%xp bonus. If you’re looking for something cheap, try searching the trading post for “buttermilk biscuits”. (for other foods, look here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Food )
Many guilds will have bonus xp up on the weekends, xp banners if there’s a gathering, guild events, willingness to teach, etc. Look for open recruitment posts in Lions Arch when you;re there and give them a try. If you don;t like their style, politely bow out and try another.
Good luck!
That’s kind of an odd reason for not having it.
IMO, there shouldn’t be boosted stats because an isolated fight between two groups of players shouldn’t be effected by one of the sides having an unfair advantage due to stat boosts just because they are outmanned in the zone.
Oozo is on point here; what is happening in zerg v zerg shouldn’t affect the 1v1’s and 5v5’s going on around the map. Not all the action happens at SM/Bay/Hills.
Some people prefer zerging, some people prefer leading large groups, mass numbers against numbers; but mostly zergs provide safety. Safety in numbers. If you don’t play every day, only log on to unwind after work, etc., what is there for you to do BUT zerg? Do you expect the person that only logs on once/twice a week to run 5-man or solo? It’s a refuge of relative safety where you can play and still have fun and not worry if you forget to heal before that bleed tics, or go to deep behind enemy lines, or whatever. If that’s what they want to do, LET THEM!
Yes, there are some amazing theives. I have a guildie who regularly takes down 3-4 at a time (in a group of 5-10)by himself. He’s great at getting in, hitting them, and getting out safely, only to go back and finish the rest off. Last night we ran into a 4x d/p thief and 1 mesmer group that was friggin hard to take down; got 3 of us down the first time, 2 the second (I died both times-Ranger). Fun fights.
That being said, most thieves are either glass cannon, heartseeker spamming, predictable types, or barely hit but can always run and get away types. While the glass cannons hurt if you’re busy fighting someone else, 1v1 they are usually pretty lackluster and end up running away. It’s rare that a thief can kill more than one of us at a time before having to hightail away. Most are bad, some are decent, few are good. I think the most important part is target selection, honestly. Some people know which people to target, and end up doing better.
I run with 5-10 most nights, and I think we all use foods appropriate to our specs, which means 10 people probably use 6-7 different foods.
That being said, for zergs, the Fire Salsa would probably be the best.
+100% downed health
+20% damage while downed
For those of you who might know me i like to have some fun in tkitten JP. chase some people down till they decide to duel when im bored. cause a little havoc here and there with some guildies. but when someone finally challenges tto a duel i always accept. now these guys are a bunch of [insert expletive] and im calling you out. i tried partying with you to ask for a duel but got nothing. {JEDI], [GDUA]
Maybe dueling isn’t their thing. WvW is about fighting and not knowing whats coming at you from around the corner. You could probably set up some duels in sPvP, or wait for Thursday night and go to fight club. Coming to the boards and “calling someone out” over not wanting duels is pretty lame, imo. Let them play how they want.
Personally, I tend towards the RED IS DEAD side of the fence.

Albeit not in-game, a quick alt tab can give you this.
Ques are, and remain, the best means to restrict/control wvw population. The problem is that the threshold is too high. Lower the threshold, and when people get tired of waiting to get into a battleground, they will move servers, as long as that means is available. They ruined this when they stopped free transfers.
1) Lower the thresholds (to 1/2~2/3 of what they are now)
2) Allow free transfers for 2-3 weeks
3) Watch the servers equalize
It makes me feel old to think that when DAoC came out, several of the commanders on my server were toddlers, and that I was playing UO before they were even born.
Sad, isn’t it? At least they aren’t playing FPS’s!
Iscerus from Mid/Kay checking in. I’m on Blackgate.
That name sounds very familiar; good luck!
First they need to fix commanders as they are now.
Great fights at GoM’s SE tower tonight, thanks for coming out you guys!
You really need to find the guy tripping over the cords and fire his kitten .
Taking NA servers down during NA prime time is…. bullkitten.
I did love the whole 30 seconds notice we got, though. Thanks Anet.
If you’re looking for things as specific as signet/skill rotations
, you’re going to be disappointed. Unless you’re playing against a group that just stands still on one spot auto-attacking, you need builds and players who are flexible and can adapt to different and unexpected situations. Trying to stick rigidly to a plan devised hours or days in advance will get you killed.
This.
Once you kill a mob, however difficult, you always know how to kill it from then on. A player, however, learns from mistakes and can counter you, making the fights more challenging and fun than PvE can ever be. You also have to keep looking around to see what else is coming; players don’t have aggro ranges. Rigidity is for PvE, as the same thing works every time; having to be flexible and think on your feet is what makes WvW fun.
They key is knowing the strengths and weaknesses of the group you are running with and knowing how best to apply yourself to help your group. Specific rotations only work against mindless zergs who fail to use their cc properly. Use that against a good group with half your numbers, and you will be wiped.

The answer is obvious, isn’t it? Drop the que threshold by half. People will get frustrated by long que times on high pop servers and transfer to servers with less of a que. This will also allow the low tier servers to compete more evenly against the higher tier servers, as it cuts the number of people per map.
(were all quite polite and stuff, we actually don’t even have any major trolls anymore the last one went to ehmry)
Care to explain the 30-40 people from [BP] (3/4 of which had their commander tags on) who guested to HoD’s Lions Arch last night and trolled us/spammed map chat for a half hour?
Lol, classy.
Happens at camps and towers all the time. Sometimes waiting 10 mins or so will allow it to reset, but sometimes that doesn’t even work. Hopefully nobody can claim and Anet may actually fix it.
Yes BP has 3x your numbers, but besides that fact, we have learned a lot from ehmry and our pugs are skilled. I understand its hard to tell when we steamroll you with double your numbers.
I have found quite the opposite; your pugs perform just as well as any zerg server, even when you have the numbers. Survived countless fights with necro/ele 2v2, 3v6(plus your guards), 2v3, 2v5; kept 25 stacks for longer than I have running as a duo/trio against greater numbers in a long time. And I’m not very good at all. Was surprised not to see any guild duos/trios/5 men out and about this morning, but had a fun run anyways.

And who said WvW matchups have to be balanced in the first place?
They have to be pretty closely balanced or you lose people.
I can only guess they are afraid of queues.
They should (should have in the beginning) use the queues to adjust population more evenly across the servers. T1 should ALWAYS have a que, T2 a little less, etc., until the populations are more even. The problem is they’ve changed the process to move servers. If they made it free again, you’d have too many people asking for money back, and rightfully so. Of course, I left JQ on Day 2 to go to DR, so I may be biased.
As far as skill lag goes, go to a less populated server. T7 only really sees skill lag in SM on reset night. Well, until w started playing t4 servers…
PvE is probably your best bet until you see the other servers taking stuff back. But when you go to retake it, just go with one group; most people will changes bl’s once they get wiped a time or two by a larger group. Try to find the even fights until your zerg comes back and ruins the bl.
All servers, but specifically Kay server and KIP cluster, which GW2 server(s) are you guys on? Son is looking to maybe buy his own account, was wondering where he might find some like-minded players.
GoM is a great server to run up against in WvW. They just plain need more numbers to win matches, they’ve got the skill.
Agreed (15chars).
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA…. I guess DR hasnt just gone through a 4 month fall from tier 4 to tier 7 where every week we were night capped and outnumbered all but a few hours a day… I believe HOD has a similar experience.
We fell from t4 to t6; we faceplanted to t7 when a few of the larger guilds decided to quit for a week to throw the game. I don’t think HoD has the quitters that we have. All their quitters were nice enough to leave the server; ours are still here.
So whats the wager on when BP will be all alone on the maps.
After the map staying red for a while, BP will start losing people to boredom and HoD/DR will be there to reclaim for a bit until people see the red disappearing. It will never go to zero; we should all remember this from the few weeks we were completely dominating… that’s the only reason I ever got any fractals done. WvW til bored, do some (ewww) PvE, go back out when there’s someone to fight, rinse and repeat.

Meh, some of you people take this game too seriously. DR is winning because every time I get on, I’m having a blast. Credit goes to the IoJ and FC that take/provide loot bags.
Hello! I’d like to announce that I will be hosting a Fight Club on Thursday afternoon, hopefully 8 PM EST depending on any update/patches interferences. A notice will be posted if there are any changes, otherwise; the rules, information, and description of Fight Club will be posted earlier on the day of Thursday!
I remember last match-up with IoJ that we had great numbers of participants and enjoyed it very much, and I wish the best of attendance towards Ferguson’s Crossing, as I heard many people were excited to attend from the FC Server!
Hope to see everyone there!
I will be there with an updated and improved build. Better be ready
I don’t think the game is ready for an improved Joey! Servers will crash, quaggans will start eating their young, and Thieves will lose their ability to get away from fights. Don’t do it!
How many licks to the center of a Tootsie pop? 1… 2… 3… CRUNCH!
We may never know.
Great fights tonight in NSP and DRB, every time I turned around we were in another 3-way. Good stuff.
6-10 hours of wvw a day/night for some. It’s a random drop; the only way to increase your chances is to kill more people.
Two things:
1) Why such little warning, AGAIN?
2) Why is it so difficult to find what patch is going in, if we are already kicked out of WvW? At the very least, you already know what is going in, why not post the Update notes so we have something to do while waiting for you to bring WvW up again?
I think it’s cute how all of the elitists want to push their playstyle onto others. If you don’t like zergs, bring more.
First of all, zerging isn’t a “problem” that needs to be “fixed”. Among other things, it’s a place for the people who don’t play every day to be able to play and be comfortable. It’s also the only way to root a zerg out of a tower or keep. They’re here to stay.
Small man groups already have an advantage over zergs: superior communication, teamwork, everything but… numbers. Many small man groups pride themselves on “zergbusting”; it can be done. If you want to really counter a zerg, you’re left with two choices: avoid the zerg, or join the zerg.
