It’s going to be slightly pay 2 win at least on certain classes. You are limited on what you can do and the elite spec MIGHT be strong at the current meta/patch.
Imagine dagger for the ele would be a elite spec.
Would that be pay 2 win now?
You can’t apply that here. Expansions aren’t pay to win. They add new content to the entire game that you get access to by paying the fee. You want that content? Buy the expansion. You aren’t entitled to free stuff.
What you went completely off topic. And it still doesn’t change the fact, that you can potentially be in a disadvantage without the expansion. Which IS pay to win in some degree.
Pay to win would be if they did something like making an epic gear or whatever 10 times more powerful than anything else in game and made it available only through a transaction involving real money. That way, if you spend money to buy that epic gear you are paying to win, since no one without the same gear wouldn’t stand a chance against you, and you HAVE to spend money to get this gear.
GW2 does not do that! You pay for the game, and then you have the option to pay for things like weapon and armor skins, you cannot pay to become a god on the game.
On the expansion, you will pay to get extra content. That extra content involves changes to te classes, but we have no evidence at all that the specializations will be extremely overpowered when compared to the old classes, probably not, since they didn’t even raise the level cap.
More powerful? Probably yes.
Extremely overpowered to the point that any one running a specialization can trash anyone running an old class? Very unlikely.
Every little advantage that you get by paying with real money IS pay to win.
Pay to win doesn’t mean you always win, it simply means you win more often than you actually should because you paid money to get an advantage.
It’s going to be slightly pay 2 win at least on certain classes. You are limited on what you can do and the elite spec MIGHT be strong at the current meta/patch.
Imagine dagger for the ele would be a elite spec.
Would that be pay 2 win now?
Nope. I don’t think thats how it will work.
Every Skill is categorized into a Skill Type (even our Elite Skills).
Actually not.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_elementalist_skills#Slot_skills
Ether Renewal and Tornado both have no category and both have even some “tempest” style to it.
Having 1 or 2 armor sets in the bag is really bad. I have no space anyway. We just need an option for multiple stat combos on armor or multiple slots for armor which you can switch.
Agree, the worst part are the precursors. But hey, you are playing a classical MMO, that part didn’t change after all.
I guess we just have to wait for HoT and see what anet changed.
Well in case we get any new dungeons. Ha.
The main problem is, that it already exists, in the way of custom arenas. And yet threads pop up one after another, with people saying that it’s not okay, because dueling in designated areas is not what they want.
Duel (in MMos) is not about 1v1 it’s about fighting with others whenever you want.
You know what the problem with the already existing one is? It’s a pain in the kitten and IMPRACTICAL.
You wait for tequatl (or another boss) and you just want to rumble a bit with a friend? Well say goodbye to your organized map.
You and your guild are chilling in Lions Arch and someone wants to show a nice combo? Have fun making every member join the right server and watch these lovely loading screens.
You and your friend want to know who does naked more dmg? Well you can’t test that.
Yes.
It’s about an easy, fast and fun way to fight with your friends. And it’s not about fairness, JUST FUN.
They could simply make it somehow like that:
-Player A right clicks Player B and selects “Ready for PvP”
-Player B right clicks Player A and selects “Ready for PvP”
-Both players get a window which asks “PvP Fight: Start/Decline”
-If anyone of the two declines nothing happens
-If both accept, the fight begins in 5 seconds
-Every NPC and other players act just as always, only difference is that the two players can hurt each other
-Fight ends when one reaches down state
People who don’t want to PvP in PvE will NEVER, YES NEVER see any windows popping up.
Is it 100% fair? NO. Does it matter? NO. It’s meant for friends or guilds who just want to play and have a bit more freedom.
The worst what can happen is when people chat spam you, but as people already said, in other games this happens very rarely.
Also people can already chat spam you for random things in GW2 and does it happen? No.
If you are so SCARED of it something is wrong with you.
Imagine someone buys a car and his friends say: “NO DON’T BUY AND DRIVE A CAR YOU COULD RUN OVER OTHER PEOPLE!”
You seem like such friends.
What about the Lore tracks?
Not to mention the gliding – and mushroom jumping – all give access to areas of the map inaccessible without them, so why would you not want them?
Because they’re only useful in a few maps that will come with HoT?
How much time and effort would you spend grinding out abilities that you could only use in Orr? And were required to get to all the points in Orr, including the end of the personal story? That’s pretty much what HoT is.
Maybe because you will probably be most of the time in the Heart of Maguuma which should have a decent amount of content? Or do you still want to play the same old maps?
WvW should be changed to Guilds v Guilds. With ‘guilds’ I mean guild alliances.
Guilds have another meaning, friends on different servers could play together and if done correctly we should see much less stomps.
What speaks against something like that?
Multiple topics already open in regards to this.
It deservers to. We should have the whole page 1 with it. Maybe anet will see it then.
why should a legendary take 100-1000 hours of playing? you are concerned the new legendaries will not be prestige?
just for information: i made 20 (all) legendaries in 5,300h – I didn’t use credit card. Right now you can do all the work for a Legendary by just farming gold all day long. Very boring and very easy.
Sorry but when did you start playing and farming?
This speculation has very little chance of being true I fear. You really need to take into the account the WEAPONS that the new classes get.
For example, If the Engineer gets a hammer, I doubt it will be called an alchemist. Might be more along the lines of ‘Demolitionist’.
Warrior is speculated to have a pistol = Duelist
Thief speculated to have rifle = Marksman
Elementalist with sword = Battlemage
Guardian with bow = ?
And what if you use the old weapons with the new spec??
It’s not only the new weapon but probably the new “Profession mechanic” that decides the name.
Guys be sure to convert gems to gold from now on!
^ Basically this ^
Also what I fear with specs is how the old weapons will be handled.
So far anet said nothing about that and I could imagine if the weapon skills stay the same that certain weapons will always be better in one of the two specs. Meaning using that weapon in the other spec is a mistake.
Or generally that one spec is better than the other.
Imagine you have a character that could swap between a necro and an ele. Why should you ever use the necro?
I hope you know what I’m meaning with that.
I just hope when World 3 is released the TM weapons actually look (deepish) red and not like a pinkish color.
Who said that W3 weapons will be red?
i dont remember exactly but i thought it was common knowledge. blue for base weapons, then a unique color for each worlds trib mode: green, yellow, red, purple, in that order. generally follows item rarity colors, except for red.
The baubles have that order:
Blue = 1 bauble
Green = 5 baubles
Yellow = 10 baubles
Red = 20 baubles
Purple = 50 baubles
Also the rupees in Zelda (Wind Waker and TT with yellow too) were like that:
Green = 1 rupee
Blue = 5 rupees
Yellow = 10 rupees
Red = 20 rupees
Purple = 50 rupees
So beside the green and blue ones surely a reference.
Complaining about grinding in an MMO is like complaining about sugar in a sugartart.
MMOs are time consumers. That’s their primary feature, and its there by necessity. People play MMOs to kill time. But, psychologically they want a reason to play, i.e. there has to be something that draws them to play. Hence, there has to be something that gives them a reason to play a lot — hence… grinds.
I was going to respond to this, but Test covered it really well above.
Just because MMOs are traditionally about setting up huge time-sinks so people can treat them as a second job doesn’t mean that have to be designed that way. Sooner or later, an inspired team is going to have the backing to make something different, and MMOs as we know it will shift.
As it is, the status quo is slowly bleeding out.
Also I would like to see some more “challenging” content. And no, one world boss and old fractals aren’t enough.
I finally got all achievements… beside Meeting the Asura…
I guess you can welcome me now!
GW2 =/= WOW
/15 Char
Oh how I would love to be a Healer in GW2. Having 6 characters all being DPS is quite lame.
You can, healers are sought for wvw.
Well I don’t like to run from point to point all the time.
GW2 =/= WOW
/15 Char
Oh how I would love to be a Healer in GW2. Having 6 characters all being DPS is quite lame.
Let’s see what this “challenging group content” is. If it has “open world” in the name it I will cry a bit.
Anything that is supposed to be “hard and open world” is either too easy or 1 random player can ruin it.
I’m still up for intanced versions of world bosses/meta events with a difficulty setting.
GW2 is smaller in PvP. KITTEN 6.5 maps, I’m ready to poke on my keyboard killing Chieftain over and over again. Seriously, I could live without Dry Top or SW, but not having same maps from release! At least they could do Maguuma Wastes themed PvP map.
One problem I see is how each map HAS to have some special side objective. I mean isn’t a different terrain and some other art not enough?
I’m not saying I want the same map in 10 different colors but new maps don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time.
[…]
A ToK dosn’t give you a static EXP number. It gives you a LEVEL . As it says “Double-click to gain one character level. […]”
Well of course it gives you EXP however it doesn’t say “Double-click to gain experience.”.
To train a mastery line you need ‘experience’ NOT a ‘character level’.No. It gives you the exp required to get to the next level (or skill point) at your current level. This means that your current exp gets added to that, and so you’ll often end up with a surplus that counts towards the next level/skill point.
Writs of experience do exactly the same, but 5% of the exp to the next level instead 100%.
But they do NOT give levels. They give exp.
Now, why does it say that it gives you a level, because if they give you 100% of the exp required to get to the next level, you WILL get to the next level.
As I said it SAYS it gives you a level and since you will no longer be able to get any new levels (skill points) in HoT you probably won’t be able to use a ToK. (Anet will make it that way)
Also if ToKs do end up working on the mastery system how much % of a mastery line should a ToK give you then? 100%? That would probably make leveling high tier mastery lines way too fast and people would ONLY use ToKs to level high tier mastery lines and that’s probably not what Anet wants.
I never got to play SAB, maybe I would like to, but the way people act is embarrassing, so I kinda like the idea of them getting trolled.
The problem is there is no reason for Anet not to add SAB as permanent content. World 1 and 2 are there. They are fun and I would love to play it with my friends.
I think this topic is toxic without constructive suggestions. Most are complaining what is bad but never give ideas what could be good. Topics like this hurt the potential morale into everyone walking on ice.
Id say close this post.
Toxic?
He is stating clear problems and I think thats more than enough. It is (or was) Anets job to fix these things.
We should get the option to show the chest part or not, would be cool to run around shirtless
And if they add it do it for females too.
I think what some of you don’t realize is the mastery points you’ll get retroactively are only for old tyria not maguma so you’ll only be able to rush stuff like the old precursor track and fractles track, you’ll still start HOT with 0 MPs for the new area so tomes aren’t gonna make the new stuff easy mode.
That’s possible, but that’s not the information we have at this time. Currently it sounds like MPs are generic in earning them and they are applied to a Mastery track in the right region to make them specific.
Mastery points https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery#Mastery_points
“Mastery points are spent on selective Master tracks; they are earned from completing various goals within the game, but they may only be spent at level eighty. There are two sets of tracks; one for The Heart of Maguuma new regions from Heart of Thorns expansion, and a different set of Mastery tracks for all PvE zones currently available in the game today.”Here it says that MPs are earned by doing content and they say that there are two sets of tracks but they don’t say that the MPs earned in one region can’t be spent in another.
If you have a quote saying that MPs are only good for the region they are earned in, I would like to see it.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/reimagining-progression-the-mastery-system/
“Each Mastery track is tied to a region of Tyria—they must be unlocked with Mastery points gained in that region and can only be trained in that region.” That’s a direct quote from ANET’s blog post.
That’s good to know. It doesn’t alleviate all my concerns about ToK and the new content being easier by using tomes to train Masteries instead of playing the game but it’s nice to know people won’t be able to max out the Maguuma ones, just the Tyrian ones I guess.
I think I found a quote that confirms that ToK won’t be able to “level” masteries.
“Higher tiers in Mastery tracks require progressively more Mastery points and more experience to fully train.” -> “and more experience to fully train”A ToK dosn’t give you a static EXP number. It gives you a LEVEL . As it says “Double-click to gain one character level. […]”
Well of course it gives you EXP however it doesn’t say “Double-click to gain experience.”.
To train a mastery line you need ‘experience’ NOT a ‘character level’.That’s an interesting thought. It’s sort of nitpicking as the only way to level is by gaining exp, but it’s possibly correct and certainly worth thinking about.
Currently both the writs and the ToK are a % of the experience bar with a writ being 5% and a tome 100%. They did say the experience bar will be replaced with a Mastery bar and exp gained will be used to train (increase) the Mastery bar towards the next time you can use a MP. Since the tomes don’t have a set amount of exp then maybe they won’t advance the Mastery bar the way they do an experience bar.
Also, they said they will remove the skill points for level ups after 80. I guess it’s because well… you can’t “level up” anymore after reaching 80.
You probably won’t be able to use a ToK anymore with level 80.
I think what some of you don’t realize is the mastery points you’ll get retroactively are only for old tyria not maguma so you’ll only be able to rush stuff like the old precursor track and fractles track, you’ll still start HOT with 0 MPs for the new area so tomes aren’t gonna make the new stuff easy mode.

downed state isnt about beserker, its about teamwork clutch play, Rallying is actually a very good mechanic in pve.
You are filled with too much hate, your entire theory, is based around a hate for zerkers, when every single player gets downed.
Its odd though you want to remove one of the biggest means of support, because you want the game to have more support.
skilled zerkers can also avoid going down anyhow, so really you wouldnt be changing anything, but crippling the average players greatly.Not really. It’s not about rallying up mates it’s about killing weak enemies to get up.
I noticed that this mechanic is a bit weird when playing alone in PvE and fighting multiple enemies.
For example:
When you drop low and you fight a champ and a weak NPC you make sure you DON’T finish the weak NPC. So when you get downed you can finish the weak NPC and get up again to continue fighting the champ.Or another example:
When you drop low and fight an enemy that applies bleeding to you. It’s better if you get downed first and then finish the enemy than killing the enemy and then get downed.In such situation I somehow feel like this is a very, very weird mechanic which even might reward bad plays.
Maybe they could change it that when there are multiple enemies only killing the highest rank rezzes you (Champ > Elite > Vet > Normal) and getting downed right after killing someone with no other enemies arround should also rez you.
But that would make things too complicated I think.
if people have enough planning strategy and sustain to keep weak enemies around, team up on the weak enemy that you know your friend has tagged, and kill it before any of the enemies can kill said enemy, then i would describe that as playing with coordination.
Sure it can happen randomly, but its not reliable randomly, and thus not something that people can depend on.
It would be just as easy to blind the enemies and not go down to begin with, or have some one blast a water field, or dodge.
And i really dont see the situations pop up often, where people are dying to enemies that they can easily kill in downstate. Most deaths occur from dangerous enemies/situations where there arent many disposable enemies, or there are so many that they can kill you in downed state pretty fast. In those cases, its either everyone reviving you, or targeting and burning the enemy that you tagged, hoping to beat the clock, or both at once. Which is coordination, soo.
Well I was talking about soloing in open world stuff. But that can also occur in dungeons I guess.

I’m pretty sure they will make it impossible to gain exp by that. They confirmed that they will remove the skill points from level ups after 80 so I guess they simple make it impossible to use the tomes on level 80s.
Of course devs know how much appreciated a new world would be. They’re even working on it at the moment (see that_shaman’s datamining post), so I’m pretty sure we’ll have it back somewhen this month, maybe on the 14th or 28th.
I guess they plan to surprise us with it, so you won’t see an official announcement before.
Or it’s already in the game and they’ll randomly activate it. They do communicate with him so he doesn’t reveal everything that is datamined.
I also datmined and found no other objects. Just a weird rainbow unicorn but that doesn’t look very SAB.

And well a lot of HoT stuff like new PvP gamemode models and WvW models.
anet pls
15char anet pls
Started it more then 15 times and never saw the mote. ANET PLS.
Same problem. Could be their servers getting destroyed or it could be the patch. Not sure witch. Maybe even both.
I hope you know your PING has rarely something to do with your FPS.
However I have a decent 30 ping and my FPS dropped from around 70 to 30 and it simply feels laggy as kitten.
I also lost a lot of FPS, but turning the hud off still give me a lower option and changing colision sensitivity changes nothing.
I would like the trinity tbh. Playing each class feels to similiar….
You deal damage. There you have it. That’s all.
I played a bit support in WoW:WoD and it was really fresh. Really sad that GW2 doesn’t even allow you to play as a healer…
I mean anet doesn’t have to force the trinity but at least make it possible.
He started sPvP and it seems he really likes it.
When is the next sale coming? 800 gems seem a bit much.
Proposal Overview
How you get to your Guild Hall. (In case it’s a instanced map)
Goal of Proposal
Finding a reasonable way to get to your Guild Hall with services without making the main cities and Royal Terrace Pass/Captain’s Airship Pass useless/obsolete.
Proposal Functionality
One thing that people already discussed was whether there should be services (like a bank, trade post, merchant, repairs etc.) or not and a button in the guild UI that teleports you to your Guild Hall.
Some said that nobody would use the cities anymore and the Royal Terrace Pass/Captain’s Airship Pass would be just bad since you can simply teleport to your Guild Hall from anyway for free.
I was thinking, what if there is a portal in Lions Arch or in every main city that leads you to your Guild Hall for free and using the guild UI costs some silver (Maybe 5-10 silver).
Taking the free route will take more time making the other options faster and taking the pay route will cost a bit more making the other options cheaper.
Going to your Guild Hall should be about meeting your guild not making your life easier in the main point anyway.
Associated Risks
Some might dislike the cost to teleport. (Maybe add the possiblity to lower the cost by upgrading it in the guild?)
Since they are really slow on adding new content, I really would like to see a comeback of the S1 stuff.
They could add them kinda like fractals. The letter you got about fractals says: “Fractals of the Mists! Re-live the greatest and most exciting moments from Tyria’s past as you test your strength, speed, and skill against some of the most formidable opponents from the annals of history.”
Doesn’t S1 fit there too?
They could add the bosses next to the fractals as “open maps”. Maybe a new portal near the fractal portal that sends you to a lobby with multiple portals leading to the (boss) regions of S1 (Twisted Marionette/Escape and Battle for Lions Arch). The events/bosses could start/spawn like the world bosses on a time each day.
Of course the loot shouldn’t be the same as in S1. It should just add more variety to the (hard) world bosses we have right now. Please Anet.
Either I’m just unlucky or you are lucky.
Did many sandstorms and never got that much money.
I started a fractal at about 2:15 AM (15 minutes after reset).
After killing Jade Maw there came the question if we are ready to leave without getting the daily reward chest.
Also my fractal level hasn’t increased too.
I believe that Arenanet has done fairly well for itself this year so far.
Various events
GW2 is realeased in China
Four seasons..or winds (or something) festival with Chinese version of Fear Not This Night
Season 1 of living world was this year I think….or part of it at least
Stuff before season 2 begins
Season 2 begins
50% off the purchase of the game, the only real moment that you absolutely have to spend money to be able to play the game
September pack thingy
WvW Fall tournament
Halloween event
Season 2 continues
Probably other stuff in store for us during 2014 (maybe another pack?)
Christmas event
etc
What that list is so stupid.
The only things that were ‘NEW content’ for us were:
End of Season 1
April Feature Pack
Start of Season 2
September Feature Pack
China? They could release the game in any part of the world, it doesn’t change anything for us.
“Festival of the four winds” was just “Bazaar of the four winds” with some changes.
Who cares about 50% off? We already have the game.
Also the WvW tournaments changes nothing of the content = No new content.
The only hope for us is that we see something before Halloween (SAB, SAB, SAB!) or some new stuff for Halloween.
Is it possible to remove them again?
I have done all instances and achievements and it still shows me it in the hud and ond the map.
It’s good that way.
Go away with your level 1 chars.
Ventari’s descendant? Maybe he will hop down to collect royalty fees for all the Ventari’s Inscription receipe sold by Dry Top’s merchants, in next episode?
Yeah. I’m pretty sure they are good and will fight on our side.
Also is it just coincidence or why do both have mostly the same outift? (Or is it a common outfit for centaurs)
@Evon Skyfyre: Yeah I also got up there. (It’s actually really easy).
Since you can’t get even higher from there I think A-Net made that on purpose.
