Just on the topic of calling these methods “exploits,” I don’t feel like it’s entirely correct. For me to call something an “exploit” I’d have to feel like someone is being harmed by the activity. Given that you can’t trade the tokens you get on completion and the silver reward is pathetically low, I can’t honestly say that I feel that anyone is being hurt by it. Back to the point, I’d prefer people call it cheating or abuse of a mechanic or something like that. Just saying.
I only did DoA to grind armbraces and sell them to buy things I actually wanted. I don’t know of anyone who actually did it for fun. I certainly didn’t. The Underworld, more specifically UWsc, was for fun. It wasn’t very challenging or difficult but it was FUN and had tons of replayability. Dungeons in GW2 however feel super grindy and have no replayability in the sense that they aren’t fun so I don’t want to play them… Ever. They seem to do this in the name of “challenging content” even though a challenge is only fun the first or second time you do it.
Here’s something for Anet to think about;
Bashing your head through a wall is a challenge but it sure as hell isn’t fun.
Well, there is really nothing legendary about someone with a “legendary” weapon. Some of the worst players I’ve seen had a legendary. This makes sense considering no skill is required to get one. Here’s my estimate to get one; 90% gold grind or buy gems and sell them (gosh, it must be so hard having golds and exotics raining on you), farming plinx and shelter for a week for karma (man, that definitely takes pro skills), get a mesmer to port you up the jumping puzzle in WvW for the gift of battle (wow, that mus have been rough), get map completion for the gift of exploration (because that’s hard), 200 skill points (you mean you got 200 skill points from map completion!?)
Again, no skill is required to get a legendary. In it’s current state, I can’t possibly get a legendary because I can’t make gold fast enough to beat inflation and I’m sure as hell not going to buy gems to get one. So If you are just lucky and get rares and exotics raining upon you, it’s possible to get.
All that being said, legendary items should be skill based not pure luck and minor grind based. A legendary should be more of a symbol or skill and player ability, not just an indication of who is lucky.
So I decided to drop 30g on a ton of magic find gear and I am not getting any better items than I normally do. I usually get a bunch of crappy blues, now, with my super awesome 150% magic find, I get… More crappy blues!
Literally, there is NO improvement in loot whatsoever so, it must be bugged.
I think the party cap should be more like 25, however, it should scale difficulty based on how many are in your party so you don’t need 25 people but, you can have up to 25. Could be a neat experience to go do some high-end content with 25 people.
Just as the title says. The event chain is not working and we can’t get into Arah on the Tarnished Coast server. Maybe take out the event chains altogether for all dungeons that have them? It was a cute idea at first but it gets bugged way too often and they get old.
So, it seems to me that unless you want the karma armor from Orr, there is really no point to getting it. This statement takes into consideration that the Temple of Balthazar is never open so you can’t get Obsidian Shards. That’s always the case on my server anyway. Why not make Obsidian Shards available at all karma merchants at any uncontested temple in Orr instead of just the Temple of Balthazar? This suggested change would make Obsidian Shards available at the karma merchant at the Temple of Melandru, Grenth, etc. so you would at least have a better chance of having at least one temple open at any given time.
So what he’s saying is that you can expect more of the same from pugs. Just now you will see pugs running MF gear instead of berserkers gear. They will die just as much as before. I just hope there will still be a market to sell crappy berserkers stuff to. xD
Wow okay. So I guess the people on the forums are illiterate. I state that he was spamming his shadow walk attack which he had never done before and, for some reason, a bunch of people reply with guides on how to do Lupicus? Err… Okay?
Anyway. After this most recent patch the problems in these dungeons with bosses spamming attacks seem to have been fixed so I request that this thread be deleted.
P.S. I question the usefulness of the GW2 forums given the responses found here. Perhaps get rid of the forums to save server space or something?
You posted complaining about dying a lot on Lupicus in the dungeon forums (not the game bugs forums) if you thought it was a bug then post in the game bugs forum.
From what I can read though the shadow step is behaving normally, he always targets one person till they’re dead. So the reason why people are giving you advice is because you’re having trouble with the fight (dying) thus doing something wrong (most likely) and you just need to practice rather than instantly assuming it’s a bug because you can’t do it.
If you still think its a bug as I said you can report it via the in game bug report system or in the game bugs section and describe each occasion of this happening in more detail as you aren’t really explaining exactly what happened, in what circumstances. The dev’s would need to know this in order to fix it.

To make it clear; He was ONLY using his shadow walk attack. With me so far? He was using nothing but his shadow walk attack. NO, he didn’t use the AOE circle thing. Just… The shadow walk attack. It seemed to have a 1-2 second recharge as he used again in that time frame. Still comprehend what I’m saying? He spammed his shadow walk attack and nothing but that every 1-2 seconds.
The purpose of this thread was to see if anyone else had the same problem or if anyone knew of any changes to Lupicus to make him do that or if it was a bug. I have beaten Lupicus numerous times before and he never did that.
Again, I’m not having this type of problem in dungeons any longer.

If you pull the mob back far enough they just stop and stand there and you can focus fire on one at a time if this happens again. Ranged will still attack you though.
Okay… So I have completed him before but, this time I noticed he could literally spam his shadow walk – KD – kitten attack. We wiped a bunch on him this time around and just quit. Other cases of this are the spider queen in AC who is now able to spam her poison attack and mage guys able to spam the fire line thing in CoF as if these things have absolutely no recherge. I dearly hope that these are bugs and not intended. If it’s intended then you might as well call the game Dodge Wars 2.
P.S. I’m not even kidding, it’s literally one after another after another.
I only do that when I’m out gathering in my server’s own territory and some huge zurg of like 100 comes at me. They sure as hell aren’t going to get an easy reward off me. Not to mention they are called “Badges of Honor.” There is hardly anything honorable about 100v1.
I agree with the OP. To those who seem to think everyone just wants “ezmode” or to “get everything handed to you” in a few days, not exactly. Keep it in prospective. This is a kitten game, not a job. Although it might be to you because you have ezlife and nothing going on. Cheers!
I have an idea. Why don’t you get your “well organised team” and do the other dungeon paths and not farm? Seems easier than trying to force others to play the way you do…

Awesome. Guess I’m done with the game for 2-3 months. Maybe I’ll log on again by that time. It really seems like Anet is trying to appeal to “Hardcore gamers.” “Hardcore gamers” are never happy, will never be happy and it’s just a waste of time to even try. If they lose the casual gamer crowd, the game is finished and this is just an example of how I feel like I’m being pushed away.

Did they change anything with the bomb room or is it still 2 minutes, 1 shots left and right and a moronic spawn rate? If so, how OP are the other paths? I’m simply not going to deal with suicide zurging to win.
Did you ever consider that their problem was with getting 2x chests and not with jumping past the wall?
I can only seem to play for a few hours or so now without getting a headache. I want the rest of the CoF armor but they kind of screwed that up. So now I just sit outside of the dungeon for an hour hoping a group might pop up, do it once or twice and get off because I get headaches when I am really annoyed.
In beginner gear groups don’t have the damage/healing output to kill these waves as they are all silver mobs. .
They have said many times explorer dungeons are not for pug beginner groups. They are where experienced groups are supposed to go for nice cosmetics when they have good gear.
Then why would cosmetic items have stats and a sigil/rune attached to them?
I’d actually prefer if the dungeon gear was purely cosmetic with no stats or sigils or runes.

If they made the kiting room easier but put up an invisible barrier on the rocks, I’d be fine with it. It just isn’t worth it to suicide zurg the kiting room anymore and I’m just not going to waste all of my money on it. I actually don’t care about the end reward as long as I can get my armor but, I also feel that I shouldn’t have to spend 50g+ (total for the full set) in repairs to get it.
I don’t have the full set yet but, I want it because it looks nice to me. I don’t really care what it may be associated with or what others may think of it as long as I like it, It’s all that matters to me.
Jumping to get over the wall does seem to be like other jumping puzzles I have done so I don’t feel as if it really is an “exploit” but rather it was that the dungeon dev team put in an extra way to do it or something. I feel as if they wanted no way to get past the door by jumping on things, they would have just put up an invisible barrier. However I feel that the double chest thing is an exploit because I doubt that they mean for that to happen.
Nialiss, those nerfs were to builds not to the dungeons, the dungeons still wielded reward. by giving loot, ecto and gold.
This just takes reward out of the equation.
CM is very well doable without dying in its new form, trust me.
But why would I when I have no reward from it?
I’m making a reference to the difficulty now and time requirement. In gw1 after the SF/ 600 nerf almost no one did Cathedral of Flame because time invested> reward. It may not have been hard but it took forever without a 600 runner. Other things were a bit too difficult with no easier, more pugable way to do them so no one did them. Seem like a repeat but only this time the changes were to the area instead of a skill.
Why not test the new patch with PUG’s? That way you can see how impossible it is with a random group of people. That is, of course, considering you can actually make a group. All the dungeons are dead on my server.

Takes more than 5 minutes to get the first chest (after the bomb run). This isn’t a solution and it isn’t a stopgap fix to the terrible “fixes” made to farming.
I don’t think the farming thing applies to tokens.
Sounds about right. Anet should look at the after effects of the Shadow Form and 600 monk nerf in GW1. People ethier found a way around the nerf and keep speed clearing or they didn’t do it at all.
Considering How OP the dungeon is now, I came up with an idea that will hopefully get people back to CoF. Keep in mind that this would really only benefit those who actually want the tokens from the dungeon, like myself.
Why don’t we just do Magg’s path but, only do it up to the first chest and restart. Sure It would only give 5 tokens per run but when you consider that It takes about 5 minutes to get the chest, you would get 20 in 20 minutes which is about the same amount of time spent on a full run pre-patch. Not to mention that you would still get some drops along the way that you could sell. I think that is the only reasonable way to get tokens now for PUG’s.
PUG’s are my primary concern for this. All the “solutions” or people that claim they got past the dungeon all have the same story, “I went with a group of friends/ guildies and we used a VOIP and we had no problem.” Oh really?! You had no problem. Okay, cool. So what about random PUG groups? What are they supposed to do? I guess the solution is to never do a PUG dungeon ever.
Side note:
Being able to just join a random group of people and do a dungeon or something and meet new people was something that I really enjoyed about this game and now it’s gone.
