So mark the date in permanent ink
The hour is later than you think
On the twentieth day she’ll start her games
And warm her hands over Kryta’s flames!
“The hour is later than you think” – I think that’s a hint that the patch will not be early in the morning.
You have your answer people.
You-know-who??
Yeah, this makes sense. This scarlet eyes, pale skin, noseless face…
Rangers definitely have some problems… Like, current release “end” content is Liadri, right? I feel like rangers are awfully bad at here, since:
- your pet is always dead – ~1/3 less DPS
- elite skills… mass root that doesn’t work on boss and rampage that needs an alive pet
- signet condition removal requires alive pet as well, healing spring doesn’t heal as much as other healing skills so with it you’ll be probably dead in the first phase.
- meleeing Liadri is almost suicide; long bow requires at least 500+ range to have nice DPS – not in the dome, yeah; shortbow benefits from flanking, which is impossible there; axe doesn’t have much DPS at all.
And yes, I killed Liadri.
Hm, when I saw words “Your world is built on fog and sand”, I thought about Tyria being somewhere in The Mists and Scarlet pointing it out, so it’s a hint to other worlds, or parallel universe, or time travel, whatever The Mists are capable of. And it suits well with the common “time” theme.
Scarlet isn’t a Nightmare Courtier. She doesn’t seem to be a dreamer either.
Sylvari might be born not only from the Pale Tree.
But, well, I probably missed something, who is “E”?
First, there are no Sky Pirates in the Gendarran Fields, I should know I’m there, there is no point in changing the map.
First, Sky Pirates of Tyria added a whole new jumping puzzle and PoI to the Gendarran Fields, if you don’t know some thing it doesn’t mean others can not do their work.
Second, even if a person changed the map, the Wiki is there to help and to serve the community, so the person has no right to change it because he/she liked it better that way, when that does not serve the community at large. The wiki is NOT a personal website where people can put what they want, they can get themselves a free blog on Wordpress.com for that.
Second, the Wiki is a bunch of people, and all of them contribute as they can, there’s no overseer. The first rule of the wiki is to be bold, and people should change things if they liked it better that way, and if the community does not agree – they will be warned and corrected. Accordingly to the Image formatting guideline, it is preferrable to take pictures without interface (including hearts, WPs, PoIs etc.), so the uploader just followed the rules. The reason behind the fact that other maps have interface is that nobody really cares about strictly following guidelines. If you disagree with the rules – you can and should start a new topic on the talk page (designate the topic by making it header, like this: Header; new topics should be created at the bottom of the page; you should sign your edits with four tildes: ~~~~). If you don’t like some specific image – you can add a request to re-upload it, by adding the following text to the page: {{image request|The reason to change the image}}.
As for the Gendarran Fields map, Dr. Ishmael will probably update it soon with the new boundaries, and he usually keeps UI on.
Apparently, Anet will not make a proper computer AI. It is too expensive for their servers to handle. It might increase lag during these events.I agree that adaptive enemies will make the game more interesting.
Can’t agree with you. They can implement different AI for epic bosses (I’m pretty sure, they already have not much in common with other mobs), leaving mobs and pets on existing one. Although, pets/minions/summoned weapons need some work too. But the point is, I don’t think that complicated AI, called once in 0.5-3 hours, will produce such high load, A.Net servers will not be able to withstand. Remember, they survived Halloween and The Lost Shores events, as well as everyday WvW.
Always wanted to post this:
IMO, epic bosses, such a Shatterer, Claw of Jormag, Behemoth etc. are too static and scripted. They don’t reflect the changes people are making. The most it’s painful to watch on dragons, where they unleash all their power into a blank space – people just move 10 meters away, and they are safe. I wish these bosses turn around to target people, cast skills on them, not just stand still facing one direction.
Mentioning skills, it would be great to add such types, like in Volcanic Fractal on the last boss, where it throws a flame on you that hurts everyone around, so large groups of people will have to dissolve temporarily. And the opposite – skills, that do the less damage, the more people are damaged (don’t think there’s an analogy in GW2, idea taken form WoW).
Also, skill casts can be made more… readable. On the temple events, you often don’t see the target because of the illumination players produce. Maybe reduce effects in size? It hurts very much on Dwayna, with that starfall that downs you if not dodged.
Connected a bit with previous, a culling. In WvW now it works great, but in PvE I don’t see even half of the people surrounding me. It’s not that important, but more of a wish.
And the last one, participants scaling. I guess, all event that give bonus chests, should be able to scale up to like 75-80% of the map capacity (before you go to overflow). Very often there’re overflows in Queensdale and Frostgorge Sound, because of the bosses. Also, low-level bosses fall down too quickly, if they spawn at around the same time, it’s merely possible to kill several because they die in a matter of seconds. These bosses give rare loot, they shouldn’t be able to be killed at least a minute.
And I wanted to thank you for bosses Ulgoth Modniir, Golem Mark II, Claw of Jormag, Priest of Grenth – fights, where you can’t just put char on autoattack and afk, hoping you wan’t get killed. Even with current state, I fell a potential great in such tactics-full encounters.
Hi Nighthawk – There’s a few other things I would recommend trying such as repairing the client, running Msconfig, disabling any security software you have enabled, and ensuring your drivers are up to date.
If all else fails please submit a technical support ticket so that we can better assist you one on one
Can’t tell what exactly you meant with “running Msconfig”, but I disabled all unnecessary autoruns and services, now BLTC works properly (repairing client and disabling Microsoft Security Essentials didn’t make effect). My best suspect is Firebird Server… Well, the issue was solved anyway.
@Ashley, deleting gw2cache didn’t help, as well as deleting Local.dat and updating root certs (nothing happens when I launch that program). Unfortunately.
I guess, reinstalling Windows will help? Though system is pretty stable now and I wouldn’t want to make it now…
I have a bit similar problem, my BLTC doesn’t work, unless I launch GW2 in XP SP3 compatibility mode (I have Win7 x64). By “doesn’t work” I mean, the pages are blank, no content. Compatibility mode.. yes, it works, but IMO it’s kinda dirty hack, than the solution, also it requires to confirm UAC warning each time I launch GW2, which is a bit annoying.
A bit of necroposting…
For consistent DPS with shortbow stats priority are: Power > Condition damage > Condition duration > Precision > Critical damage.
Condition dmg is only a tiny bit “worse”, than power, and if you stay behind the target and apply bleed with every shot, it’s even better. Condition duration is also pretty important, but it has “soft caps” – 33%, 67%, 100% etc – all this values increase bleeding duration by 1 second and thus explosively increase DPS.
If you want, I can post appropriate formulas, but there’s a lot of math.
I’ve got a video for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky8Y6SYJlMs
Reported as “Botting”.
About spirits: IMO, they should be changed (at least in PvE), so that they don’t take damage from AoE spells, like hunter’s pets in WoW. That should be fair – if the mob targets them directly, it’s your fault for not having enough aggro, but you can’t move spirits from each and every AoE (even if they are traited to follow you), you can’t switch them as quickly as pets and you can’t heal them other then with AoE healing. This should be enough to improve there survivability, but not to make them effective.
It doesn’t give achievement…
OK, anyone found Coddler’s Cove?
I got recipe for Major Rune of the Night. Hm-m. Maybe someone will find smth worthy.
If you want this skins you can always buy them from the BLC. They are expensive? Of course, considering how rare they are. But you could get them guaranteed if you were a bit smarter and didn’t spend all money on the lottery.
About point that they are not like legendaries cause they can be done only during Halloween event: think of it like of the limited edition of some… stock. It makes them even more expensive. Why I know that they are so expensive? Because you desire them, they are pricey to you.
Guys, this are unique skins. Do you understand it? There will be no other time to get them the next whole year. It’s like legendary weapons, there has to be few of them, otherwise they will be just ordinary thing that everyone has. Their cost is defined by how much of them are available, you wouldn’t want to get that skin if everybody around will wear it, even if it looks cool. Imagine if everyone will run with chainsaws, that would be horrible!
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

I guess, games you mentioned doesn’t have half-non-target system, siege weapons, lots of mobs and NPC and that quality of tons of visual effects?
No doubt the DL will win. I would be very surprised, if they wouldn’t.
I hope DR will be increase soon , because i feel bad that i wast a lot of time and gold to make a full set of magic find it’s like playing with 0% MF while my gear give 204% MF -.-’ .
FIX it Anet !
Same here… And what is much more frustrating, I’ve bought a Magic Find Booster and it works only for about 15 minutes even though it has a duration of an hour – because of the DR. Today was farming armored scales for a half of an hour, got 13 in total, 7 of them in first 7 minutes and in the last 10 minutes – only 2 (sic!).
Hey guys, I’m gathering information about siege weapons and upgrades and how much damage do they do to different targets. I’ve already gathered a few, but now I need your help. Here’s a “table”, the first column is weap and it’s skill, the following are damage to the: gates, walls, infantry, siege weapons. If it doesn’t damage, there’s “-”, if I don’t know the damage – “?”, if I’m not sure or damage varies – “~”.
Weapon | Gates | Walls | Infantry | Sieges
Ram-1 | 8019 | – | ? | ?
Ram-2 | – | – | ? | -
Arrow Cart-1 | – | – | ~700 | ~450
Arrow Cart-2,3 | – | – | ~450 | ~225
Ballista-1,2 | 535 | 535 | ~7k | ~7k
Catapult-1 | ~3900 | ~7k | ~6k | ?
Trebuchet-1 | ~8800 | ~8800 | ? | ?
Alpha Golem-1 | ~2200×2 | – | ~2200×2 | ~600×2
Alpha Golem-2 | ~2200×4 | – | ~2200×4 | ~600×4
Cannon-1 | – | – | ~6k | ~3k
Mortar-1 | ~300 | ~300 | ~4k | ?
Reinforced gates reduces incoming damage by 1/3, reinforced walls – I assume, by 1/3 too. Fortified – no info. Gates themselves reduces damage from infantry in 5 times.
Upgraded flame ram does 1.5 times more damage, 12k instead of 8k, but no info about other sieges.
If I am mistaken or you do know more, please write here, I’ll update the table with new info. The whole thing is to help improving tactics of sieges.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

Could we see the option like in the other games, the maximum distance that servers starts to report that there’s a player? I know, there’re many people that play WvW on high or ultra settings comfortably, and I’m sure they’ll accept to lose some of the visual effects in order to increase viewing distance. I mean, we need a more precise instrument to choose, do we want to play on high spec and see fewer enemies, or on low-medium and see further.

Remember that you can keep a Brown Bear on passive near you during PvP. Use F2 when you need a condition removal. Additionally, if you keep him on passive he’ll always be close enough to transfer the condition(s) via Signet of Renewal. Although, don’t forget SoR also transfers condition(s) from allies to your pet.
Keeping your pet out of combat really sucks, that’s a huge chunk of our DPS, not to mention pet skills.
This issue already got dev notice in this thread. Check it!
Yeah, didn’t notice o_O
First. Now Signet of Renewal is the only viable skill to remove conditions, since bear pet is for tanking and rather bad in PvP. Even if it’s passive effect is OK (and I doubt, looking how easily thieves or guardians cleans ‘em), it’s very hard to make active effect pay for it. The one that is actually cleaning condition is the pet, and if I’m not close enough to my pet (how silly it sounds!), I’ll just waste the CD. Considering that pets don’t tend to stay with ranger in combat, it’s very frustrating, I have to call back pet or even switch to another to use signet, and it takes some time, that is priceless in combat. I suggest to rework signet’s active effect so it always removes conditions, independent of the range between pet and ranger.
Second. Again, pet skills. Today I was fighting some risen in the Orr, and noticed that i had to tap F2 four or five times to make it work. Yes, that was a single time like that, in about 85-90% pet uses skill with a single tap and other 15-10% with a double – that’s great, really, remembering how broken it was. But still, I’m not sure that the skill will hit the foe. It has to be usable on the move, otherwise it’s gonna be wasted on almost every fast-running target. It is so disappointing that in the game, where everybody can use each of their skills running, ranger’s profession feature becomes it’s disadvantage.
