That’s the reality with a lot of wvw focused guilds. Fotm for ascention gear and legendary’s being achievable in only pve has cause a lot of wvw focused people to heavily reduce the amount of wvw they do. The ones that are doing wvw are the few that don’t care about those pieces of gear.

I want to see portals be usable by all servers. Don’t know how portals are ruining it for people. Most people that use to wvw with my guild but no longer do say they are just bored/burnt out or busy getting ascension gear. And the guy who says fights are won by who ever portal bombs first isnt in tier 1 I guess. There have been hard wipes because the side being bombed see’s it and responds quickly. Ring of warding + aoe works well against portals.

GS bug is making ranger less viable

Example: few days ago there was a bug in swtor making your companion not benefit from equipment bonuses after you summon him.That bug was fixed within 24 hours.Here, they cannot fix a game breaking bug and it has been a month since it appeared.Moreover, this is not first time that bug has occurred. And i am ignorant for criticizing ? Are you kidding me? Its time to put some pressure on these people, my respect for A-net is gone,

I remember whole guilds on my server quitting swtor because of the massive amount of bugs it had 2-3 months after launch. Interesting that it has become the example of quick fixes.

You’re still criticizing his build, though, when he’s criticizing the effectiveness of the Toughness stat. Even if he had 18k HP to go with that 3k armor, he’s still losing 14k of it to a single combo.

I was really criticizing his test. I thought this was clear in my +crit damage example. If someone posted data from a test golem saying +crit damage as being a bad stat and had only about 15% crit everyone would say something like “you have no crit, of course its a ‘bad stat’, get more crit”. Same here. I believe armor is the opposite to power which means a 50% increase in toughness is not going to counter a 50% increase in the enemy’s power. This is due to armor being the aggregate of toughness and base armor. 50% increase of toughness is a <50% increase in armor. This does not mean toughness is a bad stat or that everyone should go glass because “power is king”. Anyone who plays this game knows the strength of a good guardian or ele bunker. Defensive stats are strong, they just are not 1:1 counters. They require a proper setup.

To all replies – this thread is not about what I could have done or wore or traited differently. Its also not how i should/could have dodged. This is not my normal spec and was testing the toughness stat out itself. The point I’m trying t convey is that if someone maximizes toughness (2k is extreme), they should not take this much damage.

And the point of my post was that you are not testing the effectiveness of toughness by testing just toughness. Like all builds, stats and traits need to work with each other. You wouldn’t take all +crit damage if you have no source of fury, high precision or traits/utilities that give x% chance of higher crit. Have you not run into bunker specs? They run high toughness but also healing. Together the are very strong, but by themselves they are both kind of weak. If you ran without the toughness you would be complaining that you took 20k damage. As others have said including me, too much toughness not enough vital. Shaman’s is great for necro’s because they already have high hp, not so much with thief’s. Base of 18k compared to ele,thiefs and guardians 11k. Toughness is fine, thief’s are fine, your test build is not.

Toughness alone doesn’t make someone tanky. Investing so much in toughness and nothing in vital is not an effective way to maximize your effective health pool.+healing if you have good regen uptime and healing skills that scale well works wonders with toughness. See guardians and ele’s for examples. I think toughness doesn’t do a lot by its self because if it did, applied with some of the things i mentioned, some people would be impossible to kill even 1v3.

This actually makes it even more fishy. The video is just a random clip of a guy doing random stuff, but it coincidently records the conversation which “predicts” this event would happen. This clip was posted 1 day AFTER the SM exploit youtube video was posted. Why would anyone post a clip of some random TS conversation on youtube? The conversation wasn’t even funny… Was this planned?

Time travel conspiracy. A mesmer known for being amazing at hiding and waiting does exactly that and you jump to fake moon landing like theories.

The jump puzzles are a good way to get badges but get boring quick for a lot of people. You could run 5 characters through each puzzle in wvw. Best to do the EB really only if mesmer’s are offering portals, that puzzle on 5 characters is a little draining. The BL puzzles are quick and easy. I haven’t tested this but according to a guildie after level 7 characters receive about the same badges as level 80’s. Taking an estimate of 8 badges per chest, 5 characters, 4 chests per character. That could give you 160 badges in a day. Badges are account bound so you can put them in your bank and move them to any character.

He’d have to be pretty dumb not to use an alt tag. His account is theblindmonk.3027 so hopefully Anet can get on it and ban him. He built multiple flame rams in SM and then went and burned all the supplies in Anzalias building another 5 rams in useless spots shortly before Anz was attacked. I don’t want to say by whom because it might sound like an accusation and it was just as easily coincidence. Hopefully its something that goes away instead of becoming the new norm.

A few weeks ago we found someone build rams in the middle of nowhere, people assumed he was from a server we were facing. Turns out he saw one of those video’s of flame ram trains people built in beta and tried to start one. Some people are trolls, some are bored and some are just not too bright.

Nice work not reading. Having a guild commander would help rallying a guild. It would effect no one out side of the guild. I think it’s a great idea.

Despite the trash talk and accusations made in this thread, I think this has been an awesome matchup. SoR and SoS both have had long periods of domination. And CD has done a good job in punching it’s way back into maps time and time again. Unfortunately, from what I hear, they had a exodus of players a while back so they came into this match-up undermanned. As the week is nearing the end I just wanted to say how impressed I am with all three server’s. I hope CD find’s a bracket fitting for their population and look forward to fighting SoR tooth and nail for that first place finish. Hackers exist on all server’s and ignoring the effort and skill of individuals on other servers by claiming every achievement is due to a hack is just childish. I have a feeling SoR and SoS will be seeing each other in a match-up a week or two down the road. So cya soon SoR.

And then frankly, the non-NAs kitten it all away for candy corn.

To be fair it was NA’s that also went for candies after the patch rather then defend in WvW. After finally getting the patch done I jumped in to SoR BL only to find the outmaned buff on, garrison caped and hills under-siege. I had been out there for 6 hours that day with people from TSym, OnS, Atac and Work in a push to cap the whole map. We succeeded and upgraded the keeps. The moment the patch came out we lost everything. I can’t but feel that A-net shares some of the blame for messing things up. Since they didn’t put Halloween drops/events into WvW people were natually going to ignore WvW. For some reason this didn’t happen to SoR, what ever you guys did or say congrats on getting people to ignore candy.

If you mean PRX they transfered at the same time as the db guilds (last week). If you think that most of the server is in the one guild then you must be on eternal. The other guilds are queing for borderlands

I leveled to 80 on my ele with mostly d/d with some switching to staff if the quest or event required it. I had no problem doing the story quests at under 3-5 levels (started the 80’s at lvl 77). I used D/D because it’s the most enjoyable weapon set for me. When I got into a tough spot I used staff because of all the control the staff offers (Air 4&5, Water 4, Earth 4 & 5). D/D can be a pain if you over use your dodge. It doesn’t offer the healing scaling that other weapon sets have so its much less forgiving. But its aoe’s are awesome, especially for farming the cursed shore. You can tag everyone on a spawn ensuring a lot of loot. Try other weapon set’s, it might be that the weapon is not a fit rather then the class. If you want to stick with D/D i suggest going with Lightning flash, Mist Form and Arcane Wave switching Mist Form for cleansing fire if you are facing condi mobs.

Also, I never use lightning whip. I don’t get that close to mobs (it doesn’t seem to be actually 300 range to me). Fire auto attacks can get all 3 hits while being out of melee range. Its a small sweet spot but it exists. If you find your self locked out of attunements you are probably changing to much. Change when you should not when you can.

Who cares, transfers are just baddies looking for a ride.

Players of SoS need to understand that, whatever pride they have for their server isn’t necessarily shared by those who transferred there. They may in time be proud of the server as long as they are winning, but that is all they care about is winning, and that’s why they moved to SoS due to the heavy Oceanic presence. If SoS ever moves up in the ranks and starts to lose and players leave they will cut and run just like they did on their old server and find a new server they can win on.

People like this don’t understand why we left. We were the one’s who had server pride prior to launch. It just faded due to people on the server. We were coordinating between the guilds a week before early access. I understand you guys are mad. But you don’t know what you are talking about. We tried for week’s to get things working but it didn’t. The guilds that liked each other and did work together decided to move together. Now we hope SoS has more mature wvw players.

This question is kind of related: What does lingering elements do exactly? I read once that it lets you keep casting a channeled spell from one element if you switch to another mid cast… is that really what it does?

No, you can change mid cast even without LE. LE takes those 5 point traits and extends there time by 5 seconds. So you can have soothing mists refresh its self in a attunement besides water. Or switch out of air and have the 10% speed boost active for 5 seconds. This is assuming you have these traits.

Edit: Arcane is not an attunement so the arcane fury trait is not effected by LE. Some people think this is a bug but in reality they can’t read.

The two that I have a problem with is the earth and arcane 25’s. They should be switched, the condition tree has a power buff trait while the arcane, a general tree, has a condition trait. Also Arcane Precision should be on hit not on crit, its silly that you have to spec into air or run berserker to get anything out of the trait. Other then those two I think most of them are alright.

Flame barrier sucks but its a 5 point, what do you expect? The other 5 pointers are actually strong imo. Especially if you have LE

I would suggest switching the clerics jewel for soldiers. Your healing is already pretty high but your health isn’t much off a buffer.

Well, Mist Form is a 75s cd. 75s for a stomp should be one of the strongest stomps in the game. That being said, rez the guy being stomped. See edit of previous post.

Edit:You can also cc right when your ally goes down and rez. People usually pop the stomp util’s after the person has dropped.

Edit 2: Oversight: quickness rez. Rangers have this covered.

My response is, of course there is an advantage, they brought those utilities to the fight. As everyone as noted, there are counters to every stomp in this game. If you are not using them expect them to stealth stomp you. The more I play tournaments I see that this game is certainly a lot more balanced then other mmo’s i’ve played. I play ele s/f and bring stomp utility for my team. Mesmers are the only class I can’t get a stomp first try on if they blink last second. Assuming they don’t counter my stomps.

Edit:
You can revive people before they get stomped if you have two people rezing, start the rez before they start stomping or use rez utilities like infusion of life or toss elixir r. Or a warrior running 15 tactics I think + mercy can rez faster then a stomp.

It doesn’t matter if it’s stealth, invulnerability, stability, whatever… That’s not balance. There is a CLEAR advantage for one player in that situation. If you can explain to me how that’s balanced, I’d be more than happy to hear.

You have the wrong idea of balance. Its not about every one having counters to something but that counters exist. This is why team comps and builds are so important. You choose what utilities and counters you bring to a fight. If you didn’t bring a counter to stealth stomps and the enemy team has stealth stomps then it’s your comp being countered not imbalance. With all this complaining about thiefs I don’t know why more people don’t reroll a hammer-shout warrior.

Evasive Arcana also helps with giving aoe frost armor (ice field – water 4), swiftness (lightning – air 5) or might (fire – fire 2 or 4). Get it! I ran with sigil of energy I believe. The one that gave 50% endurance on swap. Battle is nice if you want some might so you can hit a little harder. My runes changes depending on what I wanted to do. Dwayna is a good 6/6, earth if you want to be more tanky + give longer protection. You can also go 3 sets of 2 for boon durations.

Moa’s not really that strong. Sure 10s is a little long but it’s not over the top, I think it should be 8s. Where Moa is annoying/borderline op is countering other classes elite. Necro’s, guardians and others who use transform elites know this well.

For people who think time warp is not good should try out other classes elites. Gladly trade my elemental or my supply crate for time warp. Not that they are not good but time warp is a whole other tier of elite.

You need to have no target selected + auto target off. Then you will travel in the direction your character is facing. Sounds like you just forgot to deselect your target.

1. Fix the fire line. Terrible Grandmaster traits.
2. Arcane shield should be a stun breaker
3. Downstate interrupt or mist form on #2
4. Ether Renewal reduced to 3 second channel but healing amount increased (total & /tick)
5. Cd reductions on cantrips AoE should not be 90s, mesmer blink is 30s lightning flash is 45s
6. Fix bugs

I think conjures need to be reworked to something like the engie’s kits. You cast it and it turns your utility skill into a kit that you can swap in and out of. But each time you use a spell you lose a charge (like it is now). You could drop them by using the swap weapon key, or the button on the left side of the skills. Once this happens the utility skill turns to a “destroy conjure” button which will cause the conjure, whether on the ground or in a friendlies hand to be destroyed causing the skill to start its cd.

Well if you’re looking for feedback you should link the actual build rather then say its on a website. Sure stacks a good number of vulnerabilities. It’s also hard to judge how well it works when you are attacking npc’s. Have any spvp footage?

Saying dodge as the counter for everything. Its too often the response people give on these forms. It’s not helpful for people who are actually interested in learning how to counter these specs. They will only get frustrated when they think that only a good dodge can save them. If you cut out those first two paragraphs I would have quoted you and just said “^this”.

Despite being right about how easy it is to destroy a 100b warrior. I really hate all the focus on dodging. It just doesn’t do justice to the game. You can blind so the charge misses, you can chill so his charge takes so long that you can strafe out of the way. There are defensive skills to be utilized like protection or invuls, stun breakers can be used, or teleports. You can gain distortion if you’re a mesmer without a dodge left. What more can be said.

Well your post isn’t about asking how you can counter these things you just call everything op. Well, you said you play a mesmer so ill assume its your main.

1. Blink,staff 2 or get more toughness + vitality
2.Blink ,staff 2 or get more toughness + vitality
3. Hs doesnt do much damage above 50% health. Blind and heal before going below 50% and he’ll be out of initiative. Easy kill from there. Or get more toughness + vitality
4. Daze the heal, if they get stability then hope you have null field or arcane thievery to remove/steal the stability then daze. If not, counter his elite with MOA!
5. Its op. I agree.

The first two are strong but don’t do much to defensive builds. They are one trick anti-glass build. HS and the Guardian tome have been nerfed, if you are still complaining it is a l2p issue. Mesmer portal repair is stupid and is really the only thing on your list I think needs to be addressed.

Retaliation stacks in duration not in intensity so you can’t have 10 stacks. On single hit abilities retaliation is fine but its when you have multi hit attacks like grenade barrage, pistol whip or hundred blades the damage gets quite high.

I believe its damage is not mitigated by armor so I don’t see how only people running “paper” specs could be worried about its strength.

Its not hard to get retal to hit for mid 200’s (base i think is low 200’s) and still have a very tanky spec. Lets say you hit with a grenade barrage, 6*230 = 1380. Those are low. Try that with higher power and say pistol whip which is 9 or 10 hits if i remember correctly.

Meanwhile Elem’s are running through 20 skills to try to kill something, and Necros are still hitting all their buttons trying to find something that makes an impact outside of Corrupt boon and Epidemic…

Actually on my ele im just putting up magnetic wave and watching these rangers kill themselves. On my engi i just but confusion on them and they do more damage to themselves then they do to me Keep spamming that auto attack!

That build is from the beta, according to the description. Back then ele’s burst was higher. It is doubtful they will reverse those changes. The signet of earth is there to set up an easy dragon’s tooth, which hit harder in beta. If they were to redo the fire trait tree I think the ele could become a decent pure dps class again but right now it’s better to invest in more defensive traits/stats. S/d is still strong in 1v1’s if you go 20 into water, decent heals and cleanses. Won’t save you in a group fight but works well in 1v1’s. I suggest 20 into arcane as well for elemental attunement (buffs on attunement) and arcane mastery (cd reduction on arcane skills). Then pick up one or two arcane skills. If you go 30 into air you get good +crit damage which make your arcane skills hit pretty strong. Knights and Valkyrie’s amulets both work well for a 1v1 set up imo. I prefer Valk’s because of the +healing and toughness which makes more use of your heals. Unlike thiefs and warriors, ele’s can’t go full damage and do well anymore but that doesn’t mean they are bad 1v1’s.

I don’t know why people like d/d so much. Never posed a challenge when I was s/d or now with s/f. My guildies who play other classes don’t hold high opinions of them either. Maybe its just the awesome animations that people love.

Mist form is 75s, obsidian flesh is 40s in my build and works exactly the same as mist form but last one second longer. As for blinds I guess you missed the instant cast part. It was in regard to stomping. You can cast those during a stomp, as in during the hammer throw or guardian bubble push back cast animation and cause those attacks to miss. As for the fields, they pulse blindness each second, so its more like the next 3 attacks will miss. I still think quickness stomps are better then stability stomps, although not always. And thats on a 20s cd.

If you are having problems with enemy’s resing, bring more poison. It increases the revive time. Allowing your team to dump damage on the body and the reser. If a team insists on going all in for revives, just prepare to dumb aoe’s on bodies when they are about to go down. If they go for revives you should punish them greatly. Just remember to bring poison!

How about rangers and the quickness on pet swap. How about thiefs with stealth or smoke fields. Engies with smoke bomb or elixir s. Ele’s with mist form, armor of earth, instant cast blinds , obsidian flesh or rock solid trait. This is only a few ways to get stomps or revives. I’m sure you could go through every profession and find utility in skills,traits and utility skills for stomps or revives. Stand your ground is strong but stability isn’t essential to get stomps.

Sorry but… you get downed by a noob glass cannon thief mashing heartseeker and are confused.

Let’s see, you’re wearing light armor, went +healing main ammy (no defense, but instead superior regen), and you’re against someone who went max damage – who you still managed to down despite having inferior power, armor, and health.

Again, where is the problem? You look pretty glass to me, though you’re missing the cannon. He has instant damage and you do not. Seems pretty equal to me.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. The shaman amulet is the highest toughness amulet. With a base health of 18k toughness is quite a good stat to invest in on a necro for defence. The problem was 2v1 and taking every hit that was sent his/her way.

Deepblue: I forgot about the regen on blood mark. Havn’t played my necro much :/ Regen does scale very well with +healing.

Also why are you using a shaman’s amulet? I was under the impression that necro’s don’t have anything that scales well with + healing.

Its the danger of running base toughness. The build he is running is all about getting that backstab crit while using the 150% damage signet. You are using grenades so next time you see him stealth throw down blind grenades. If that backstab misses, its a easy win from there on.

Um, you were being attacked by a thief and a mesmer. Imagined burden (5.3k), bleeding from the illusionary unload(4.7k), and the illusionary unload (4.3k) did damage too. Then a thief hit you 8 times for an average of 2.4k a hit. If anything this shows people how weak hs is when your facing someone with toughness.

Those illusions both got two attacks off btw. The beserker attack is a whirl that will get about four hits in one charge and the duelist is 8 shots in a burst. Its hard to tell how much of that bleeding is from the duelists and beserker procing the sharper image trait but im sure its the majority. HS theifs rarely apply bleeds. Look at the kill chat, the mesmer got you. 2v1 and you complain about thiefs?

I know some people do this on forest but this is the first time i’ve heard about it on legacy.
