Friday Ebay zerg was pretty epic. Lots of complaint in chat how Maguuma couldn’t match Ebay zerg in size even though there was a queue.

I have a feeling WvW is going to lose alot of PvE folks next matchup. The event patch looks pretty interesting and fun.

I’m not sure how Maguuma has dealt with Darkhaven’s oceanic strength before.

We didn’t. We lost both times. The second time by a very small margin but still. I spent nearly all of last week doing 7:00pm GMT to 2:00am GMT shifts in Maguuma Borderlands and did over 30 hours on the weekend. We closed the gap to 1000 points at one stage, but for them I guess it still felt like a game. At times for us it felt more like work.

Thats lower pop/coverage vs higher pop/coverage. I guess I went the extra mile because I knew they were beatable. We didn’t do that against SoS 2.0 because hahaha oh my god…

SOS 2.0 late night was just a slow moving 100 person zerg that pops out trebs like nobody’s business. Tactic for anything they do is pop out trebs if there’s resistance.

Don’t worry ebay, we’ll be fighting again in 2 weeks when we get destroyed in tier 4 and you win in tier 6. Its the natural order or things at this point.

If we end up putting up a good fight in tier 4, we might end up being just the punching bag for low end tier 3’s that drop down.

From the looks of it DH is pretty demoralized and their main guilds are in conflict with each other. They may not be as strong as when we matched up with them last week. We were pretty close to them and came as close as 5k in points toward the end. Will have to see what Crystal Desert does since I’ve never fought against them before.

I think alot of ppl would’ve given up in the opener if Garrison would’ve fallen in Maguuma Borderlands. However, everyone stuck around the “alamo” and put up an incredible defense that saved Garrison. Much of it was thanks to FINE’s coordination and portal bombing. From that great defense we were able to push out and re-assert control.

Ebay on the other hand couldn’t save their Garrison and they lost lots of people as a result.

Maguuma is pretty far in the lead now but I think we should tone down the ribbing from this matchup. I’m sure Ebay is learning a lot from this matchup and one day we may be in their shoes.

There is a much higher thieve ratio from Ebay then any other servers. Especially the ones that likes to stay in stealth forever. Even in large zerg fights I see them use shadow refuge a lot.

Winning is a double edged sword my friend. Last time Maguuma won, we shot up to 4th tier and just fought zergs after zergs with night cappers. Now that we’re back to 5th tier things are a bit more even now.

With Ebay’s current night population, you don’t want to hit 4th tier because it’s pretty bad if Maguuma can night cap you.

Moral of the story? Just chill out and don’t be so mean. Just enjoy the WvW fights.

Winning is about making opponents whine on the forum. Tears never tasted so sweet…:D

Also, last time we won was against Ebay so I guess this is good timing for the second win.

The folks from FINE loves to portal bomb and I love to take part in those portal bombs. They are well versed in WvW tactics so looks like we got some quality folks coming over.

I don’t think Maguuma got any EU/Oceanic people transfering over so it’s still a weak spot.

I’m sure KISS + friends will help Ebay get a better presence. The current score seems to reflect that.

Also we’re now accustomed to Ebay’s “5 superior siege ram keep take before anyone shows up strategy.” Please come up with a better strategy that works against a defended keep.

I’m in shock that Maguuma is nightcapping another server. I was expecting this week to be rough from how well Ebay was doing Friday night.

Boy I ask an innocent question about transfers and the trolls come out to play. I can see a lot of potential in this thread. Fun in the battlefield and on the forum. Can’t ask for more.

It’s video of Maguuma coming to the DH’s citadel to shake their hands on a well fought match. Unfortunately the legendary defenders didn’t want any of that.

40DH + 4 golems did actually show up last night lol. DH can be pretty predictable some times.

It’ll be interesting to see how DH does against FA. Your zerg isn’t as big as FA and don’t have as much nighttime coverage but we’ll see I guess.

Maguuma stopped being tier 4 when nightcapping servers with huge transfer influx was making their way up. Now that most of them are in tier 3 or higher, Maguuma will be tier 4 again soon enough once all of the servers that lost population due to transfer gets knocked down to tier 6+.

Barring any major server transfers looks like Maguuma, FA, DH, and Ebay will be hanging out in the 4th and 5th tier. I don’t see any of these servers cracking the 3rd tier. 3rd tier and up have servers with huge zerg and nightcapping crews.

If I get a little bit over excited in chat it is only because I am trying to convey very important messages to every one who has enough sense to listen to reason.

Lastnight around 1100 PST, EH or SH not sure, was being hit by only maybe 10 people. They setup catapults and went through the walls twice on two attempts. Now I am sorry if i came off some what offensive with how I convey messages to every one but in all honesty, this nonchalant behavior by every one is how things get taken when we could defend. I stayed in the map a little late to see how a BL skeleton crew does things, and what I notices was.

One person said one thing in chat about that keep, I asked for the situation, it was given, I told every one to go to said keep, to take supply with them. No one brought supply, the one person who was there died and res’d out. No one was there when I got there, I statrted working on the enemy then ppl finnally showed up, we pushed them out twice. No one repaired anything but me.

As I was giving the situation on the other towers and keeps (upgrading/seige) some heckler in chat said something in the form of me keeping my thoughts to myself. Which angered so much… I’ve been deployed twice in 12 years of service and need to see two psychotherapy doctors to deal with some things in my life, I would appreciate if people would take what I say (to benefit the match) and use it. Because no one else was saying anything, no one else was trying to organize anything or get any one to repair or guard anything. One Commander showed up after I had to get people to help save that keep. I bet no one repaired anything, I bet no one guarded anything, I bet both keeps were lost because PUG’s will be PUG’s and DH still needs to learn you cant always defend things rolling in the map with a big zerg.

Wait a minute! I’m a PUG and must say something’s. I’m in a small guild with friends I’ve been gaming with for years (mostly FPS but a handful of us like MMO playing once in awhile) but I’m the only one who prefers PVP over PVE (if I’m gonna PVE ill finish Diablo3) Back on subject. I try to stick with helping a commander. Half the time we get slaughtered because they stretch us too deep into enemy territory wi too few troops, or,they hit a point then peel,off and not announce they are changing places and several of us don’t notice until we get slammed. I tried defending in Eternal yesterday and the small group couldn’t hold off the mag Zerg who kept pushing into our lowland then. I’m only a 40 (played from 15-40 in wv3 only) b I tried to help the team but feeling like cannon fodder all the time does get old especially when it doesn’t seem like the commanders are leading and are doing the very thing you claim the dumb Pugs do. 100g and I can get the blue arrow too, but it doesn’t mean I’m a good tactician.

you and your friends are too low level, and not geared enough to make a difference.

i’m in the same situation as you, i run with 3-4 other people in wvw, we try to avoid the zerg as much as possible and seek out small fights and ninja camps/towers, often winning out numbered 2:1, depending on how bad the enemies are. but we’re max geared and good at pvp.

if you go into wvw under geared and level, expect to act as nothing but meat shields and cannon fodder.

Pretty much this. I find my level 60 die way too quick in WvW compared to my level 80 in exotics. I only log in my low level to run supplies or something that doesn’t involve too much combat.

I don’t think Maguuma needs to win this matchup. The projected next matchup should be competitive and more badges to be had if we stayed second in this matchup.

This would help the zerg as well. They can split into 5 teams and sneak attack everything.

I turned on the Darkhaven Commander Icon for the first time tonight and had a blast. It was a great feeling taking camps, and towers with men following me on the field. I’m a Guild member of RE and we are doing our damndest to take points away from Meguuma by taking the fight to their Borderlands hard as we can. I loved when we took AB and I figured with our numbers we could take Garrison as well. Hell no we couldn’t we got to Garrison and got cannoned hard, then went to Dawn’s Eyrie and got pummelled by overwhelming numbers. I wondered hm where did my zerg go that just took AB? It’s difficult as a Commander when the number of forces you have suddenly dwindles and you are outnumbered by the enemy. Maguuma came on strong and took AB back. Then they took Redbriar, and began to treb and catapult our Redwater Tower. The battle at Redwater was epic and somehow we held them for a long time from taking our Tower and Supplycamp. They took the tower and set up at Stargrove and started using 3 trebs to take AH down. While they were trebbing us we took back our tower with a treb of our own. Maguuma took down our wall but never got in. We killed 5 of their trebs tonight and they killed 2 of our golems so good trade. Great fun, See you on the Battlefields, Exelsior!

Towards the end of the night neither of our teams had enough people to do any kind of major push. We knew you guys couldn’t really hold onto east and west keep. We also didn’t have enough people to break through the hole but we gave it a try.

There is only one rule in fight club:

red is dead

He must have done this hundred of times. I’ve seen ppl do the halloween jumping puzzle with the character screen blocking the view.

Engineers are super for running supplies.

I actually saw 3 way fight this matchup. Thank god.

For the last 2-3 matchup it has been us against the zerg + the other guy who doesn’t want to come out and play.

Guys necros are scary because they got fear spells…..

I don’t mind falling a tier to fight lower populated servers. I was getting tired staying up late trying to “win” in WvWvW. There’s not much to gain for going up tiers as a medium pop server except a lot of sleepless nights.

Seems like this problem is a bigger one for the winning side with lots of territory to have siege up on. Losing servers being stomped by 3x their number, their siege/upgrades are lost repeatedly, every time the zerg forms up to attack them. Seems like it works out.

I would say the opposite. The larger server usually don’t care about siege and can just stomp due to sheer numbers. The smaller servers have to invest in siege to multiply their numbers and thus have to do a bit more refreshing.

How about adjusting the orb mechanic where if a team controls 2 of the 3 orbs, a lucrative dungeon portal is open for the team that controls it. This will attract the PvE crowd to jump into WvW and it will also force the winning team to decide whether to field numbers to defend the orbs or farm the lucrative dungeon before it closes off.

This mechanic is like Darkness Falls in DAOC and I think it did wonders for motivating PvE and PvP people to partake in RvR.

No way Maguuma would stack 20 against 10. You’ll have to bring out screenshots. No way 10 can kill a stack unless you guys are running siege. Something else must be going on or culling is preventing you from seeing your own players.

It’s hard to lead in WvW on smaller servers. Mainly due to spying. There’s no way around spying and it’s vastly disadvantageous to the smaller group that’s tryign to outmaneuver the larger zerg.

Some times you’re having a bad a day where everything you’re doing to outmaneuver the zerg is being countered and you can’t figure out why. Some times you’re just being snooped on and no magical tactics will overcome that short of stacking and pissing them off every chance you get.

Maguuma relies heavily on the stack because it’s the few things we can do when outnumbered. This game doesn’t have a viable zerg busting skill seen in DAOC. Having huge number=wins in this game. I find that it’s hard to kill anyone when outnumbered mainly because whoever you’re trying to kill can just roll behind their wall of players and heal right up without ever utilizing a heal skill.

To really kill someone in battle, you have to burst them down before they can get away and then to also push the line back so they don’t get rez. Impossible to do if you don’t have the numbers. Thus the stacking of players allowed the few to survive and makes the game enjoyable for us smaller servers.
