I feel like Mag dropped the ball a little this week in terms of leadership not simply with victories, but with losses. We’re usually better at both, especially encouraging people after a lost fight, but this week there just doesn’t seem to be any follow up with either a victory or loss. Part of that is definitely on the population, as there are people and guilds who have provided leadership and tools to coordinate but neither is heavily capitalized on. I do however see a slowly growing core of guilds and individuals and I’ve seen some people from being new players to w3 to becoming solid group members so that’s still promising.

I’m sorry but its hard for me to stomach some of the things that are being said here and in team chat. We have alot of commanders out of commission this week due to personal issues. I was the sole commander in Maguuma Borderlands over Saturday and Sunday. I had 4 hours sleep over the weekend and we held our garrison for over 36 hours against an onslaught from PTX and ULTD. Those guys are seriously big and seriously good and they eventually took it.

It fell in the end because I was burnt out and getting a serious bout of tunnel vision. Theres nobody in North American timezone to hand the baton to. You do anything for 16 hours straight and you get tunnel vision. The strategic decisions leading up to the fall of the garrison were my fault and I do not blame any of the players who trusted me to do the right thing. I still have alot left to learn.

Despite this, over the weekend, Mag BL has been mostly blue. It has been consistently the only borderland with any blue dots for more than 2 hours. It is the only borderland that has hit a queue since the reset. I’ll keep doing this as long as I can but the only thing I ask is that you do not trash talk any of the commanders in public. Not Tzarasi, not Rocode, not Jerkjerk or Oprey or any of the other guys who put in the time to get us this far. That is the only thing I ask.

Often time when I wonder where all the Maguuma ppl went in the borderlands, I find that a bunch are in EB. It’s a whole crew of people that don’t use Mumble.

We’re putting on a bad show of it at Maguuma this match. I feel bad for the people who are new to WvW, or to this server. This is far below par for us. We’re struggling big time with numbers and strategies. I guess it’s bound to happen during a big event. A lot of us are just playing alts to get something out of this. Unless we get people playing again, we’ll probably finish third, and that’s not something we’re used to.

Lose big this week while farming gold/event and stocking up. Win big next week in a lower tier and make good karma/gold. Win/win.

Plus this week is bad for WvW because some people like myself have taken time off to do the Halloween stuff.

That site is intensely interesting to me. The very top match-up is relatively close, the bottom two are relatively close, 2 and 3 are insane blowouts, while 4, 5, and 6 are strong wins. Data like that intrigues me. I wish I could sit in on ANet’s analysis of what’s going on.

What you see in the middle is population imbalance. With the free server transfers, things are in flux in the middle. The top and the bottom well, it’s all feast or all famine so they’re balanced.

The trait empowered illusions boosts illusion damage by 15%. This seems to suggest that clones damage can be increased. However when using clones from greatsword I’m only seen 1’s and 0’s. Do clones from other weapon types do more damage or is the clone damage boost related to the damage they do with mind wrack?

That strategy in the video is a popular stategy for SOS. They do that all the time during nightcapping session.

We had bunch of hacking good fight. Hope the hack our next matchup with be as eventful. The hack with it, I just hope there’s less nightcapping at least so we can have a hack of a chance to move up in the hacking standing.

DH is just catching up on sleep so they can night cap the next matchup.

If GW2 was like EvE, there would be no determined buff near entry gates. Certain classes would be able to get permastealth and portal camp people coming out. We would then be able to send tell saying how much of a noob they were and to come back again.

If I was to play GW2 like Eve, I would ask donations for commander and then server switch once I got the funds.

Earlier this moring DH was getting hard to find on most maps.

Yeah, it’s been really odd, I haven’t seen nearly as many people in WvW recently. Maguuma also led during most of the night IIRC. At least we can finally put these “Darkhaven just does PvD at night (player versus door)” comments to rest.

This isn’t anything strange. There is a core group of WvW players on Maguuma that just likes to WvW regardless of the score. It’s actually kinda fun to beat people up in WvW even if your success doesn’t always reflect in the matchup score due to nightcapping. Nightcapping is a legitimate strategy just like portal bombing so no complaint here. Myself, I have come to term with nightcapping and no longer care if we lose to it and it doesn’t ruin my WvW experience.

Yeah, I was only pointing out that the claims that Darkhaven goes unopposed at night are simply untrue. In fact, NSP at one point lead during the night. I agree night capping is a perfectly valid tactic, so is morning capping when one server is all at work or asleep. That’s why I applaud Maguuma and NSP for not giving in, and taking it to us and beating us at our own game at a time when you’re weakest. It’s impressive, and it reflects well on both of your servers.

Well it’s a pretty broad generalization when you make the last two day represent the whole matchup. The days that mattered were the first few days and DH nightcapped really well and that’s how you guys bounced way out in the lead.

Guild Wars 2 is carry over from Guild Wars 1. Think there was more “Guilds” war in part 1. Part 2 is an evolution of it into Server Wars.

We should turn this into a drinking game. When someone whines about Maguuma tactics or DH night capping, we all chug a beer. Soon nobody will be around to post.

High bracket just means you field more players most of the time and/or have better night coverage. I’d like Maguuma to stay around where we are among the low to medium pop servers so that I can WvW anytime without queues.

I don’t get this thread. DH is winning the matchup and they’re complaining about not being able to beat 30 guys at a supply camp.

I’ve never seen any commander icon that says to attack this and that. It was just a beacon from all I can tell. I’ve never even seen commander use the special chat.

Siege them to death, Stack AoE on them, have one Mesmer invis portal into them then havea a guardian with a shield come in and knock them all away from turret. Better yet do all three at the same time!

It’s weird yep, so go complain to Anet not the Goons/SFD/Maguuma people. Get them to ensure that you can always faceroll everything when you have superior numbers.

Something I find odd about this picture. A stack of 20+ DH against 5 Maguuman. kitten have we gotten to be so powerful that it requires them to stack against 5?

I remember that “Darkhaven’s superior tactics of hiding in bushes” fight. I was the guy on the mortar while all of you ran past me to the lord room. I just mortared you guys repeatedly because we were outnumbered. Only reason we lost that tower was that your main zerg (led by that shirtless norn warrior dude) showed up in time.

One thing I’ve noticed on all servers, once you start “losing”, your queues go away. It’s the fair weather WvWers that annoy me. DH is no different.

If they weren’t on your server, you’ll be laughing pretty hard. Come on Alpha Siege, right in front of the door with a bunch of defenders already on the wall.

If you try to do PvE during WvW primetime ie weekend, then yea it’s hard to find groups. Try doing PvE Tuesday-Thursday and hang out in Lion’s Arch where a lot of people go to search for people.

I think a good solution would be to finally put paid transfers in the game. But give free transfers off the high pop high tier servers to lower tier lower pop servers.

It would cut down on entire guilds band wagoning to already high pop servers and encourage people to go the low pop ones.

Bulk transfer of guilds from high pop to other servers is what’s causing the mismatch. The ranking system doesn’t account for this and ruins WvW fun. Server transfer should just stop so that the ranking system actually means something.

What I find odd on Maguuma is that Friday night, all 3 borderlands were full and had queues. We ended up with all 3 orbs and dominated. Come Saturday we could only queue up one borderland at most. Where’d everyone go?

For a number of days there were advice given to leave DB alone. But seems like after DB started making trouble in Maguuma borderlands and taking keeps, all bets were off.

SFD doesn’t get a lot of recognition but kudos to them for coming up with creative tactics. None of which I will outline in this post but boy are they effective.

Plus I heard they all have sparkling teeth.

The hilarity of naked people dive bombing is worth the laugh.

I use this feature all the time. My eye now can pick up where the cursor is at all times even in chaotic WvW battle. What I do is just wiggle the mouse if I lose sight and then it’s just mouse placement then click.

Necros are good condition build class. We have pretty long duration bleeds and slows.

Not to be mean but I hope the bandwagoners on SOS don’t come to Maguuma. I like being able to get into WvW without a long extended wait.

I don’t know how SoS can put up with the queue time now. It must suck waiting hours to get in.

Hope you can drop a tier and fight with people in similar situation…:D

How about we all pick just one borderland to fight in. That way SoS can’t gain the advantage of superior numbers. Rest of us can enjoy WvW while SoS has to queue for days.

Find a battle ground with your tower/keep. Usually someone around defending them unless you play during off hours.

Ramelot was SFD having a bit of fun, which at the end of the day is the reason why we play games. We are far enough behind in points that I’m surprised there are people begrudging them that. Its not like we can take second place let alone win with a 90,000 point deficit, 1 day to go and coverage as limited as we have. We are if anything gracious in defeat. Its surprising and disappointing to see some of you so derisory in all but certain victory.

Seriously, I can’t believe how mad some of you are at the bit of silly fun Ramelot was. I was busy last night, but I saw some screenshots and wish I had been able to make it. If Maguuma were trailing by only a small margin, it might be another story, but we’re coming up on the last day of the match and it’s pretty much impossible to pull back into second, even if we held all 695 potential points constantly.

Instead of fighting this losing battle to the very end, a bunch of Maguuma players got together and decided to do something fun and funny instead—and if you think that was a serious strategic movement, you might want to check your sense of humor.

It’s just the FA trolls who were unhappy their gold/karma per hour went down.
