Game Updates: Traits

Guardian trait buffs are somewhat disappointing and too much focused on PvP.

You keep pushing guardians towards condition but by giving guardians only burning makes it impossible to build around it. Give us more access to conditions such as chill, bleed, cripple and weakness. Otherwise skills such as Amplified Wrath and especially Radiant Retaliation are never going to be used.

Communal Defenses looks promising for WvW. But only because it has some unintended side effects where aegis can be applied to an unlimited amount of players. When this is eventually fixed the cooldown will make this skill useless.

The other two traits (Force of Will and Purity of Body) feel like they were handed out to us because you took them away from us in the first place. But now we actually have to sacrifice more trait points.

SAB coming back?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Noah.4756

First, let me make clear that I really liked the previous two SAB.

But if they are going to create another one the developers need to be absolutely sure that they release it without bugs. You won’t believe how much time I wasted in Tribulation Mode. Unfortunately I do not mean it in a good way.

On some some occasions I wasted several hours only to get stuck in a loophole of deathtraps on top of checkpoints. There have been very few situations in my gaming experience where I have been that kittened off.

I don’t mind if they take another few months to complete it as long as it is properly tested (that INCLUDES the harder modes).

Fire fields?

I like them as they are. Might stacking with ‘symbols can heal’ won’t do the game any good.

It’s definitely strong. But you would have to invest deeply into Honor in order to get all the “writ traits” that buff symbols. You’ll lose a lot of DPS for that.

Triple wurm achievements : broken ?

If you didn’t get Wurmicidal Maniac then something at your side bugged out. Perrhaps you didn’t meet the threshold damage or some other bug prevented you from getting it.

I killed the triple wurm for the first time yesterday and got the Wurmicidal Maniac achievement and 1/3 of Wurmslayer. Not really looking forward to completing this event two more times though.

Fire fields?

in Guardian

Posted by: Noah.4756

Noah.4756

Fire fields would surely be great, but on the hammer chain symbol, they should simply remove the field label. There should be no field of whatever kind on an auto attack because of the massive potential to screw up.

If only we could manually turn off combo fields while still being able to use those skills. Similarly to how we can turn on/off auto-attack with ctrl-clicking the skill. I’m sure there are other classes such as the thief and mesmer who would like to disable their combo fields on useful skills as well (Black Powder and Feedback for example).

On the other hand it would also be nice if we had a trait that turns our light fields into fire fields. It would be a very welcoming add to our grandmaster Zeal/Honor traitline.

Finally got it killed today thanks to gw2community and some really good commanding. However, the megaserver we were in was still full of people who didn’t listen and almost made us fail.

Also the reward was absolutely not worth the hours and hours of time it took to finally kill it. I basically got a bunch of greens and maybe a few rares.

Noah.4756

Really? The language used in the game is American English, and not British English. Use of the UK flag would therefore be inconsistent with the actual language used.

The thing is though., the flag in this case is used as an indication for the language that the PLAYERS use in the party advertising their party in the LFG tool. It has nothing to do with the client language. Therefore the current use of the American flag only causes for confusion, especially in EU.

Another try today. I was with two very well organized guilds called ET and DV. We got two of the wurms down. Amber failed because at one point we needed just 1 more harpoon, therefore missing a whole DPS phase. Very frustrating. The silver chest was definitely not worth the 2 hours of my time.

Had another try at it today. We had enough people, three commanders. But none of the wurms even got below 50%.

There was this one guy who kept shouting we should just kill one wurm instead of all three. I asked him why because the Bronze chest is absolutely worthless. He said he just wanted to kill it and he only played for one week. Lol.

My server (Gunnars Hold EU) is only doing one poor attempt each Sunday with no result. I have to admit that I’m one of those guys that guests to Desolation to get my shot at killing the Great Wurm. I joined the guys of gw2community a few times. But even if you can get into one of the most populated servers of EU it usually doesn’t end well. I don’t see how Megaservers will bring any change to this. It might make it easier to rally forces for lower populated servers such as my own server. But Megaservers won’t take away the fact that the Wurm is too difficult for the average player who seem to lack competence to deal with the event.

I like how they added world events to guild activities. My guild members gave up long ago though. I would have to join another guild because my guild is simply too small. Alliances would be a nice addition for events such as this one.

So it has been 3 months since the release of Triple Trouble and I have yet to complete the achievement. I think I’ve attended the Great Wurm around 50 times now. Which is insane considering every attempt takes about 1 to 2 hours.

After so many tries I know all about the tactics such as “deboofing”, condition parties and using the harpoon on Amber so it becomes vulnerable. You would expect the majority of players would understand the principles to become Wurmslayers by now. But it seems that every single time I return to Bloodtide Coast our forces are greeted with the exact same pitfalls.

I know this event isn’t supposed to be easy. But I can’t help to think that perhaps Arenanet overestimates the intelligence and devotion of most players. Because the image that I get from people who attend this event is that they are lazy, uninformed and unable to exercise one’s clout. It doesn’t even matter if you put three commanders there explaining step by step what to do. People just think they can zerg which usually doesn’t end well.

People don’t seem to learn from their mistakes because they can just hide in the pack. That is why I liked the Marionette event so much more because people could feel personally responsible for failing the event. I personally think Triple Trouble requires some changes. Not to make it less challenging, but to make people more aware of their mistakes.

Edit:

So today Bloodtide Coast was updated to join the Megaservers. The game put me on a server with Germans. :p Not sure how this is organized but I foresee a whole new level of problems arising.

Disappoinment about upcoming changes

in Guardian

Noah.4756

I am really disappoinment about upcoming changes to guardian…
As always we don`t have any changes for Spirit weapons, shield, sword, torch…
May be we have not bad changes for condition build but my opinion that condition build based only in one condition is meh…

So what are you thinking guys?
Are you satisfied? =)
Or you disappoinment? =(

Although I’m not really excited about the changes for Guardians either I disagree with some of the changes you want. Sword is already in a good position and is our best PvE weapon. Torch might get in a better position with the new burn grandmaster trait.

How they haven’t buffed shield yet is beyond me. It’s a shame really because I always imagined Guardian to symbolize the sword & board yet I rarely see anyone use it. Furthermore, I could care less about Spirit Weapons as I hate relying on AI. They could stay the way they are for all I care.

I see a lot of people in this thread trying to come up with examples . Those examples, such as the few people who don’t do LS, are exceptions. Every rule has exceptions.

The bottom line is that 9 out of 10 times groups who advertize with specific requirements will have a better experience than those groups who leave the advertisement open for discussion.

It’s a simple but effective filter that weeds out those players that could potentially delay or prevent the dungeon from finishing. Will it always work? Of course not. Will it increase the chance for a smooth run? From my experience, definitely.

The question is where to put the threshold. Personally I believe 5k is too excessive. However, 90% of the time I can see a huge difference between a team with an average of 3k achievement points and 1k achievement points.

I like to have a majority of experienced players in my party because it saves me from having a headache. I could put “Experienced Only” in my title but there’s always those people who are analphabetic and refuse to read. That is why I can understand why people ask for achievement points as a threshold because there is no other easy way to put the player to the test.

GW2 Devs Have In-game Powers?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Noah.4756

Noah.4756

On the live servers, special Dev abilities (like immortality or teleportation) are limited to GMs, and all dev commands are logged and reviewed to make sure no one is abusing the system. The integrity of our live servers is very important to us.

ArenaNet employees can join the ArenaNet guild, and when we’re representing it, we get the special ArenaNet tag by our name. We don’t have any special abilities, though, and we don’t necessarily represent all the time, so the tag isn’t always visible. (I often rep another guild, since it has a lot of my RL friends in it.)

I have reason to believe Anet GM’s are abusing their powers on the EU servers (especially Desolation at high population encounters such as Tequatl and Wurm). I highly recommend reviewing any players with special abilities before threads like these get out of hand.

Leaked Balance Patch Notes

in Guardian

Posted by: Noah.4756

Noah.4756

Cleansing Flame: This skill now removes a condition every second pulse for a total of 5 conditions removed. The caster is now also affected by the condition removal.

  • Good Change for Torch. I might try it out in PvP and specific condition heavy bosses such as General Volkov.

Healing Breeze: This skill has been re-scaled so that the guardian receives 50% of the heal near the start of the heal and then heals for 10% for 5 ticks to the caster and up to 5 allies in the cone.

  • Potential healing skill for dungeon stacking. I will have to test it out to see if it can compete with Shelter.

Litany of Wrath: This skill now has a cast time of 3/4 second, down from 1 second.

  • Step in the right direction. Although I still think it should be instant cast like all the other Meditation skills.

Sanctuary: This skill now has a radius of 150 units, up from 120 units. The tooltip now lists the light field associated with the skill.

  • Is this big enough to cover capture points? If so, it would be a nice change for decapping. Hopefully they also fixed the healing amount as it only heals for 1596.

Signet of Mercy: This skill now has a cast time of 2.25 seconds, down from 3.75s seconds.

  • A nice change for specific situations such as resurrecting Lords in WvW. Although I wouldn’t use it in any other situation.

Bow of Truth: The summoned bow now fires every 4.5 seconds, down from 5.2 seconds.
Command: This skill is now a ground-targeted area of effect that can be fired within 900 units of the user.

Sword of Justice: The summoned sword’s base damage has been increased by 10%.

  • I am hoping spirit weapons stay weak because AI is horrible. Anyhow, spirit weapons should receive a health buff (just like all other pet classes) as they instantly die from most type of damage. We shouldn’t be pigeonholed into a new grandmaster trait (Impervious Spirits) in order to keep them alive.

Traits

Zeal VIII—This trait now improves the effectiveness of focus skills in addition to its current functionality. Ray of Judgement bounces an additional two times. Shield of Wrath blocks an additional two attacks.

  • Good way to make Zeal more attractive although I think focus is already well-balanced. I’d rather see more changes to make shield more appealing.

Zeal XII—Writ of Debilitation: This trait replaces Kindled Zeal. This trait now causes symbols to apply 1 second of crippled to foes.

  • This is probably one of the best changes. I know many guardians have been asking for some kind of CC for a long time.

Valor VIII—Glacial Heart: This trait now has a recharge time of 20 seconds, down from 30 seconds.

  • Step in the right direction although not sure if it’s worth it compared to other traits in the same line. You can’t time the chill so it makes it a lackluster trait.

Valor IX—Honorable Shield: This trait now increases toughness by 150 when wielding a shield.

  • Shield really needs some buffs, not just in the trait line. This should be one of our best weapons. If you look at the cooldown of shield skills they don’t give enough in return.

Honor 5—Vigorous Precision: This trait now has a recharge time of 10 seconds, up from 5 seconds.

Honor 15—Selfless Daring: This trait now heals for its base amount plus 70% benefit from healing power in Structured PvP, up from 50%.

  • Really going to miss this. RIP! At least some compensation in PvP though.

Honor VIII—Empowering Might: This trait no longer has a recharge time.

  • Nice buff although the short duration on the Might kind of bothers me.

Virtues IV—Retaliatory Subconscious: This trait now has a recharge time of 15 seconds, down from 30 seconds.

  • This is still not appealing considered to what other classes get on stun.

Gossamer worth less than silk

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Noah.4756

Noah.4756

I think Gossamer should not be worth less than silk. I, personally, am fine with the silk price but gossamer should get something to increase its worth.

The reason why gossamer is cheaper than silk is that lots of people promoted silk to gossamer prior to the ascended armorcrafting patch in december because they thought Gossamer would rise higher in price.

the silk/gossamer prices are a dilemma the players brought upon themselves and i dont know why Anet should change anything.

That’s one (odd) way to explain it. A more logical explanation is that the demand for silk is much higher than gossamer because people need waaay more of silk for ascended armor crafting. Here are the numbers for a full set of ascended armor:

- Silk scrap required: 10800 (light), 7500 (heavy), 7200 (medium)
- Gossamer scrap required: 60 (light), 70 (heavy), 60 (medium)

Economic failings of Ascended crafting

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Noah.4756

Noah.4756

Given the input/output of materials and their value to players I would hypothesize that players find many outputs of crafting worthwhile for one reason or another.

An example, I pulled the approximate amount of crafting materials destroyed in the time I took to read this post and the number I received was 136,909 items. There’s a high demand and velocity of crafting materials, which I would say is good evidence that there must be something to do with those crafting materials.

Although I think ascended gear is at a good place I do like to point out that I find the demand for certain specific ascended materials lopsided. For example, bolt of damask is currently still selling for 14g50s while deldrimor steel ingot is at 3g30s. This leads to the case that heavy and medium classes have a much easier time to craft their ascended armor than light classes.

I don’t see how prices will settle down as long as supply is limited (there is no way to farm cloths) and demand is required from all armor classes.

Building Engineer After Feature Patch

Recently I started to enjoy my engineer in PvP playing with kits (30/10/0/20/10). So I have decided to invest in this character to juggle with kits in PvE. Eventually I’d like to do all content (dungeons, WvW and other open world content). At the moment it seems like berserker is still the way to go for PvE. However, with the upcoming nerf to critical damage and also my interest in WvW I am wondering what would be the smartest thing for me to do:

Should I still make ascended gear with berserker stats and get separate exotic gear for WvW? Or perhaps invest in gear with rabid or even celestial stats since the difference with berserker will be smaller?

I read through some guides made by Phineas Poe and Wolfineer. It seems like they have different builds for every type of gameplay. I rather not want to spend my time on getting two different ascended gear sets but on the other hand I don’t want to be a “jack of all trades, master of none.” Does anyone have some good advice?

anything going to be done about linen?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Noah.4756

Noah.4756

An RPG is meant to by played as an exploration/adventure game, not a spreadsheet of optimal builds, fast leveling, speed runs and even “best farms”.

Says who?

Except MMO players in general have been conditioned to play only one way with Flavor of the Month builds and choosing content solely on ROI calculations to minimize time while maximizing reward because in reality they don’t want to play the whole game anymore because all the good stuff is at max level/zones right?

That’s not true. I believe the players who want to farm linen for ascended armor no longer enjoy the tedious heart farming, zone-completing ride because they have been there and done that before. They want to reach level 80 as fast as possible because the game is as good as dead below level 80. You can go into Timberline Falls and play for 20 minutes without ever meeting someone. That’s the exact opposite of what a Massive Multiplayer Online RPG is supposed to offer.

It’s like reading a who done it and you jump to the end as soon as the crime is discovered. It’s like the episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation when Data and Geordi were playing Holmes and Watson on the holodeck. Data kept solving the adventure 30 seconds after it starts instead of going through it. The notion that there is a quantitative “best way” to play drives me nuts.

I agree that people should not skip all the content, as long as it’s fun and desirable of course. I have seen players who’s sole purpose is to get a Legendary, but once they got the Legendary they were done with the game. I think that’s wrong because in the end this game should not be about items but about challenges. On the other hand, nobody likes to watch the same Star Trek episode over and over again. Therefore you can’t blame people for optimizing just to get done with certain content they have seen before.

This thread isn’t about earning enough to buy linen at it’s current value, it’s about why it got there and how to fix it.

The problem is there is no reliable way to farm linen (or even silk, cotton and wool). You can’t expect players who are level 80 to enjoy farming lower level monsters with an abysmal drop rate, especially when the alternatives are better. What we need is a good alternative for farming cloths. I think this would solve a lot of the problems regarding this topic.

When stacking on a door, for example, guardians take AA of their hammer (since light is on third AA chain – so strike/bash/wait).

Unfortunately they fixed this some time ago and it is no longer possible to break the AA chain that easily.

The coordination needed to get the most of fields appeal to me… Just throwing everything without caring simply because some people just spam their competencies without paying attention to fields, and saying “it’s all right, i setted my priorities at water/fire/etc.” is not, from my point of view, strategic playing.

I agree that coordination and strategic playing should be important aspects of gameplay. However, looking at the way how combo fields currently function I see a conflict between skills that are used as combo fields and skills that are used as utilities (protection, blinds, etc) and damage. Most of the time it is simply not possible to coordinate combo’s because they behave ambiguously.

If one can’t see current fields, try playing with graphic options – I know on highest settings, they are harder to see for me, while changing a few settings make them easier to see without diminishing quality much.

I play on low settings and even then it is pretty hard to spot the combo field. I agree that at the start of the battle you can tell which combo field has been put down first, so you know what to blast. But as the battle progresses combo fields start to overlay each other and they become inseparable.

A major problem I’ve noticed in overflows is that there are many afk people trying to get into the main servers. Last time I’ve had at least 10 people standing on top of the nearby waypoint. Personally, I think it’s a bit selfish of them.

I really wish anet would fix this by scaling events such as Tequatl, Wurm and Marionette. Same way how world events scale where enemies get more HP and grow in numbers with more players around. This way people also don’t feel obliged to guest to higher populated servers, releasing some of the pressure for them as well.

[PvE] Guardian - Altruistic Healing change

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Noah.4756

Noah.4756

I don’t get the “Alternatives to provide the party with heals” thing. AH doesn’t heal the party.

I wasn’t referring to AH with alternatives, generally speaking guardians don’t support their team with their healing abilities because they are a weak alternative compared to aegis, protection, blinds and other defensive support utilities.

Battle presence is perfectly fine in Honor. That’s the traitline with Healig Power and where most guardian healing tools are.
Moving it to a traitline that reduces recharge on virtues and grants boon duration, when passive VoR doesn’t grant any boon and you’re not going to activate it, doesn’t make any sense to me.

You’re making a good point here. Although the increase in health towards Battle Presence when investing in Healing Power is negligible. Personally, I would like them to rework the trait and put it in Virtues. It would give guardians a motive to invest 30 points in Virtues, most guardians stop at 25 just to pick up AR and extra damage.

I don’t see why nobody would take WoM over WoP.
Damage wise WoP is clearly better, that’s for sure, but support wise there are many chances for WoM to outperform WoP:

  • With enough Boon Duration you easily get permaprot from hammer without WoP. If you are more interested on providing sustain than on dealing damage (or sustaining yourself through AH), WoM is better choice.
  • For mace, WoP and WoM both provide similar party wide healing outputs.
WoP benefits more from boon duration, while WoM has the benefit of not being a boon (so you can cover the regeneration lost with different sources).
WoM also means a lesser symbol uptime, which is bad for damage, but really good if your party want to reliably blast different combo fields.

IMHO a Mace/Hammer pure support guardian would work quite better picking WoM over WoP.

Support roles, especially guardians healing capabilities, are in a pretty bad position in PvE. You’re making it sound like every guardian out there is running Cleric healing builds. As far as I know they are the abomination of our class. These traits only shine when you go full support and unfortunately aren’t significant enough to include them in damage type builds. As of now it is better to invest in traits like 15 in Radiance, 15 in honor or 20 in Virtues.

[PvE] Guardian - Altruistic Healing change

in Profession Balance

Posted by: Noah.4756

Noah.4756

I think AH is already in a good position and should not be changed as it is a very strong trait that should not get too powerful. However, I agree with the lack of alternatives to provide the party with heals. That’s mainly because the other traits that are supposed to heal the party are currently not at the right place.

Battle Presence should not be in the Honor trait tree but in the Virtues tree because it affects Virtue of Resolve.

Writ of the Merciful is a master trait but it should actually be moved up to Grandmaster trait and should heal a lot more than Battle Presence because it requires the placement of a symbol. Also nobody in their right mind would pick Writ of the Merciful over Writ of Persistence and it doesn’t make sense to put them both as Master traits.

Noah.4756

I like most recent fields having priority for a few reasons:

<snip>

Sure there’s some negatives. Unskilled or uncoordinated players can end up interfering with the play of groups trying to put together that coordination. The light fields in WvW overwriting might stacking fire fields is a great example of that. But that’s something that already exists in other ways with the rally mechanic (high end roamers hate having randoms following them as they allow their enemies to rally).

The problem I see is that planning combo fields is not fully utilized because the aspects surrounding combo fields are two-fold. Combo fields also serve their purpose as normal skills (damage, boon, condition) and therefore solely planning for combo fields is a conflicting task. Although blasting only the most recent field would solve some problems with buffing, it would still create problems during battles where random combo fields will appear right after you dropped your own.

Zerging with Hammer

The major think I’m unsure of is the Rune … any suggestions about which rune I should use? [Melandru is too expensive and Soldier is a nice option, but I seems like a waste when I only have 1 shout

Yesterday they announced that runes are going to change in the near future. So until that time you might be better off with something cheap and easy to get. Soldier runes would indeed not be very useful if you are planning on using only one shout.

I do recommend those 20 points in Virtues though, even if you hate using them. Conditions are heavy in WvW zergs and Absolute Resolution is the best condition cleanser we have. Especially if you don’t use shouts and soldier runes.

For those players who are advocating self priority, don’t forget it won’t solve issues with prioritizing between combo fields put down by two other people. Let’s say you have a ‘Fire Field Blasting Elementalist’ and a ‘Hammer Guardian’ in your party. The hammer will spam symbol of protection, overwriting the elementalist’s fire field. If you’re the third member in the party you still won’t be able to blast the fire field with this implementation.

That is why I think disabling combo fields by ‘delete-clicking’ on the skills would be a better solution (or perhaps a combination of both ideas).

Nerf to perma Vigor

Ha.

Or perhaps they’ll nerf Shelter to make Litany more desirable. That’d be fun.

I actually would not be surprised.

Why do they always nerf good things to make bad things seem better -.- is it really that hard to just buff the bad things?

Isn’t that what they are doing now to Litany of Wrath and Healing Breeze? Buffing the bad things…

[Merged] Twitch stream presentation feedback

I honestly thought that there was some sort of gas leak that was causing them to act so giggly. On the flip side, where in the constitution does it say that they have to act professional on a twitch live stream?

nowhere. But if you’re turning off your viewers, that’s not good.

Consider the Warframe Livestream, they often times take a much more relaxed approach, hell they even have a beer or two, and take the time to play during the discussion.

I don’t really know what to call it, but there was certainly something unsettling about the presentation, something that definitely made me cringe

The strange part, it wasn’t even the thing about them mentioning diversity when their presentation suggest otherwise. I just felt uneasy, also slightly upset that Karl wouldn’t read my ping pong jabs.

Not sure who’s more immature here; you making fun of how someone looks or their style of presentation.

Thoughts on the upcoming balance patch...

Pretty meh IMO … Improving to heals to make them balanced with heals we use. Change to VP which won’t affect build decisions.

So you’re saying guardians with full DPS builds will still be able to ‘face-tank’ every encounter even without permanent vigor? Also note that enemies take longer to kill as well due to the nerf to critical damage.

You could try this:

In my experience during WvW zerging you probably will use Staff more often, although you’ll be switching to Hammer every now and then for Ring of Warding and Mighty Blow. Stand Your Ground is probably one of the best utilities a guardian has for WvW but if you really hate shouts that much you could possibly use Hallowed Ground instead.

Say good bye to the DPS Meta

Vigorous Precision nerf was to be expected. Is it still worth it with a 10 second cooldown? Might be a meta shift coming up.

The buff to Litany of Wrath is a nice improvement. Although ideally I would like to see it instant cast like all the other meditations. But perhaps that would make it too strong.

About time Healing Breeze gets buffed. Might be okay when stacking in dungeons.

This is a good solution, but some suggestions for the cons, can’t we use a similar technique for traits since the tooltips are visible. The second one can be solved by showing a little visual (like the name of the type of field) of active combo fields, I suggest that this is optional.

Yes, I agree with both points. I am not sure how hard it is for developers to let us interact with traits though. Because it is not something that has been done before. Therefore it might be the hardest part to disabling combo fields on click.

Furthermore, I think every idea in this topic would benefit from better visuals of combo fields. In my opinion the player should receive information regarding fields prior to finishing a field, not after. For example, what I would like to see is the name of the combo field I can hit floating on my screen. This would allow party members to actively react to combo fields instead of trying to figure out what mess is on the ground. At the moment you only see the combo floating after successfully finishing a field.

Opinions on AH?

the green numbers add a little variety…

I usually play with friends casually, doing dungeons, not really trying to do any perfect times and 3 minute dung runs, just having fun, but there are time where i pug so this is for those times.
(i’m not that good of a player so i was having trouble staying alive and keeping my health above 90% for enough time, but now its seems a lot easier)

If you like green numbers and you play casually you might want to consider taking those 10 points away from Valor (and remove AH) and put them in Honor and get either Writ of Merciful (if you use hammer) or Battle Presence. This way you still get green numbers flying around and you’ll be a lot more helpful to your friends in dungeons.

What I’m asking basically is this:
If in a pug group you encountered someone with this build, would you feel like he’s not contributing to the party, or that its dragging the group down?

I’m not asking if you would prefer a dps meta build or this, I’m just asking if you think that this kind of thing is ok too.

AH is a crutch trait for PvE. If you feel insecure and are inexperienced with beating certain content it is fine to use AH and more defensive gear. But eventually you should consider dropping any type of defense and replace them with what is needed in order to get the most out of your party. Here’s a weird analogy to think about; at one point you should feel safe to play outside without holding your mom’s hand.

Another solution I think would work in conjunction with many other ideas here is to allow us to disable combo fields by Delete-clicking on skills. Similarly to disabling auto-attack on skills by Ctrl-clicking I think this solution could solve a lot of issues.

Pros:

  • It’s easy to implement in the current system
  • Allows us to use skills without overwriting other useful combo fields
  • Players can choose when to use combo fields and when not to use them, allowing them to coordinate with the party on tactics
  • Simple solution which is not too hard to understand for casual players
  • Works with other ideas to fix combo fields

Cons:

  • Hard to implement for traits that give combo fields
  • Other players won’t know for sure which fields on the ground are disabled and which work.
