Looks like it’s not only rising in price because of gold inflation but also a change in supply. If you look at Storm (http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/29176) you can see how the supply slowly drained. Last month the supply of scepter precursors was still at 25 and within the last week it went from 12 to 1. Because of that decrease in supply the price has increased from 650g to 999g.
Thanks for your reply Pleurodesed. I have heard that GW2 relies on CPU, perhaps I could try to overclock it in the BIOS although I don’t have much experience with it. Last time I tried to change to a different overclock profile it wouldn’t even start the game anymore.
I tried your suggestion by changing the energy power consumption to high performance but unfortunately it did not change my FPS at all.
Perhaps this information from CPU-Z will provide some extra information for those that want to help me out to improve my performance.
Hello,
I require some assistance in pinpointing the problem with severe FPS drops in Arah and the Aetherblade dungeons. I looked through a few other threads and followed the instructions in the sticky thread.
I usually have a FPS of above 25 in most places. But when I enter Arah and/or Aetherblade it drops down to 10.
Here’s some more information about my computer:
- Intel Core i7 860 @ 2.80Ghz
- Ati Radeon HD 5770, 950 MHz Core, 1405 MHz Memory
- Kingston DDR3 2 Modules of 2048 MBytes, DRAM Frequency 668.7MHz, FSB:DRAM 2:10, Latencies 9-9-9-24
- P7p55D ASUSTeK Motherboard
I installed all the latest drivers as far as I know. Anyone know what’s the bottleneck that’s causing the poor performance?
If that were true, thick leather wouldn’t be practically worthless. Thick Elonian Cord is the counterpart to the silk weaving thread. It is salvaged as much as, if not more than, silk. Requires 150 total raw units to craft. And the price at the moment is 8 copper.
The price for a completed Thick Elonian Leather Square is 2 gold, vs the Damask Bolt which is 15.Demand and supply. I suggest you look into everything that uses damask bolts. You’ll quickly see why there’s such a high demand for silk compared to leather.
Keeping the market completely clean of lower level mats as well as keeping those prices at super high values is also unbelievably unfair for lower level characters wishing to craft their own gear as they level. If I were a new character and looking to craft my own light armor in this level range, I’d take one look at those prices and immediately say “no”.
You won’t be able to level crafting and your character at the same pace. You’re also neglecting the costs associated with leveling a craft. Crafting will normally lag behind. Value was given to low level materials which before sold for barely anything. In fact, low level characters actually benefit from this as they can sell these materials on the TP and then buy armor off the TP. You’ll actually make more gold this way as that armor is quite often drops from enemies that players wished to discard.
Saying “As long as there isn’t an over abundance of a commonly required item and the prices for that item which people need in order to craft their low level items as well as the best armor in the game is obtainable primarily only by those people who are already level 80 and farming for the end game armor” is a bit elitist. It’s not flawed in that it failed to remove the silly large numbers of silk/linen/etc. from the TP, it’s flawed in that it removed too much from the TP, driving prices for this one section of crafting far higher than the other crafts.
Again, look into supply and demand as well as what damask is used for.
I’m sure most people in this thread are aware of the demand and supply. The problem is that this causes a certain imbalance between crafting different types of armor. This could easily be helped by setting the requirements to craft a Spool of Silk Thread in line with the other material requirements (150 instead of 300). I also find it pretty hard to farm certain low level types of cloth such as wool and cotton. If players can’t get the materials themselves, then of course they will buy it, which leads to an increase in price. This price discrepancy is almost 30 gold now between crafting a heavy ascended chest or a light ascended chest.
When I started playing this game for the first time I was able to up my Weaponsmithing and level at the same time. But this was a long time ago. Not sure how the dices roll nowadays. If it would not be possible to craft your own gear I would personally see it as a flaw of the game as it takes away content from the player. For example, it seems pretty much impossible now to get tier 6 materials (Powerful Vial of Blood), most of it you can only buy from TP. Personally, I rather have a reliable option to get these materials myself which doesn’t involve grinding monsters with absolute crazy diminishing returns.
Also stacking needs to go. Make NPC’s smarter. Mark T-B34RC3 works as intended, great fight, copy/paste to other bosses.
Seriously?
Yes. Seriously. Enjoying it more than 90% of the other bosses. But if you feel like you have a different opinion on this fight feel free to share it instead of mocking me.
FGS needs to be nerfed. No more skill 4 against the wall. I can’t believe Arenanet dares to troll us with fake fixes for Fiery Greatsword. It makes them look very unprofessional.

Being able to hide my display name would be beneficial for frequent forum visitors. I have reason to believe that certain groups of people abuse this information for goals that cannot be discussed on this forum.
This is definitely bugged. I tried to keep an eye on when the achievement icon disappeared from my buff list. This is my observation so far:
After retreating the first three soldiers the achievement disappeared. I traced down the next soldier to see where they are running to. At the point where the soldiers exit I saw that (at least) one of the first three soldiers that retreated had died.
So something must be going wrong in the process when the soldier retreats to the escort point.

Every time I post on the Guild Wars 2 forum I get so many messages in-game by gold sellers. Would it perhaps be a good idea to add an option to hide the account name for the public? I think this would drastically reduce the amount of spam we get.
You are absolutely right OP. But so many topics have been made about the imbalance surrounding silk. The developers have to be aware of the issue by now but refuse to acknowledge it.
This doesn’t surprise me at all. We had to wait more than a year before even having a LFG Tool. Anything related to party management is lacking pretty bad in this game.
I have reported a similar case through a support ticket. The GM ignored my request to take action against the vote-kickers. The GM also said that the developers constantly improve the game. Which basically means there aren’t any plans to improve dungeon hosting or vote-kick abusing.
TLDR: Vote-kick abuse will be part of this game for a long time.
The annoying low framerate and the instant dead upon failure makes me rage hard. I enjoy harder content but successfully jumping to the diving goggles seems to be more luck than skill for me.
So what gives? Why is the demand for cloth so much stronger than the demand for leather when they’re uses and obtainability are reasonably similar?
John Smith changed the recipe for silk from 2 scraps to 3 scraps.
I remember why the silk cloth recipe was changed from 2 to 3. Because there was a time where silk scraps were overabundant. Much like how useless Bloodstone Dust is now.
But now the market for silk scraps is turning into a buyer’s market and prices are much higher than other similar materials. One way to fix price discrepancy would be to return to the old recipe of 2 silk scraps for 1 silk cloth. For example, this could reduce the big price gap between crafting ascended light armor and the other armor types.
It has to do with the fact that cloth is used in all ascended armor recipes. Which is a pretty big design flaw because it makes crafting ascended armor for light classes much more expensive. For example, the ascended chest piece for light class is 27 gold more expensive to craft than the chest piece for a heavy class.
First of all, good job on reverting the change to reflects you did on the Triple Wurm. But it seems the developers forgot to change the same issue for Malrona in Twilight Arbor (Up) as well.
It all started when the developers decided that the Spider Queen in Ascalonian Catacombs needed to be stronger. I like the idea behind it because I know the intention was to make people stop stacking in the corner. Stacking is something that takes the fun out of the game and I applaud any action taken to stop this. Unfortunately, people still stack in the corner. They just let him shoot the poison before they pull the Spider Queen.
I feel like the developers made a bad choice to sacrifice reflects in order to stop stacking. We all know the problems here are Warriors and Elementalists with FGS in combination with bad AI.
Besides, the real bug with Malrona is the poison she spits which causes the players to do 50% additional damage.
So basically you want to join the most popular world all the time? Just stay on the world your on and try to beat the boss.
In most cases people are trying to join a friend or specific community so it’s not necessarily a popularity contest.
I think the reality is “most” people are joining friend or community because it is the popular “higher success rate” map.
Obviously there are those that purely just do it because they want to play with friend, but majority are there just because of say “gold map pavilion”.
Of course, but joining a popular map should not be seen as something negative. Leadership and organization is not something that’s always readily available. This explains why taxi’s are often used because there are too many players out there who just follow the zerg without any real thought behind it. Without guidance it’s just a recipe for disaster.
Either way a queue system benefits not only the popular maps. Queues can give players useful information whether or not they will be able to join their party members. If the queue line is too long it could trigger players to organize something themselves.
So basically you want to join the most popular world all the time? Just stay on the world your on and try to beat the boss.
In most cases people are trying to join a friend or specific community so it’s not necessarily a popularity contest.
Also if people are not organizing to kill a Hardcore World Boss it is unlikely the Boss will be beaten. I’ve seen countless of times where many players try to join the event in the last 5 minutes because they think they can kill it without getting organized. From my experience the chance to fail significantly increases the later you join.
The constant clicking required to join a party member is a tedious process. That is why the current taxi system needs a queue function. The developers are aware of it because WvW worked without a queue for a long time until they gave it a big update. If this topic gets enough attention then perhaps the developers will realize this is something that could immensely improve how Megaservers work.
1. Any player that doesn’t know enough about what fields they want to proc doesn’t care about having their choice anyways. There is no need to solve this for every player, only the ones that care enough to educate themselves.
That might be true for players who level up. But once something like a personalized list is introduced I will guarantee that in dungeons, PvP or even WvW it will become the standard. People will get frustrated and bad players will get kicked for not utilizing the correct personalized combo list. So whatever the solution is, it has to be transparent and easy to use.
here in the uk, teq now spwans at 5pm! …. which is dreadful timing, and at 9pm..Which is normally far too late
they added more spawns but still karka/teq/wurm aren’t at peak times for us. Which is 6pm/7pm/8pm.
Should be better once our clocks go back at least.
I don’t understand how 9pm can be far too late, at least not for the majority of players. There is no way to accommodate everyone’s schedule. They changed the times after receiving a lot of feedback, especially from Europe. On top of that the hardcore World Bosses spawn six times instead of three. Personally, the developers couldn’t do any better without being under someone’s feet.
3) It works perfectly well as intended. PERIOD.
I honestly doubt that how the Triple Wurm currently functions is even near perfect. Here’s just a few things that make me cringe about this event:
- As you said yourself the taxi system is terrible. You have to join an hour early to get into a good server. That means an hour doing nothing productive.
- New bugs that are introduced each time such as wurm eggs that can’t be reflected and scaling issues
- The time he spawns in EU is inconvenient to say the least. You also have to rush from one big world event (Tequatl) to the next (Triple Wurm)
- Organizing with random people speaking different languages (especially the french and germans) is impossible. Even if they do speak your language there is a big chance many players are undergeared and have no clue what to do during the event
The current symbiosis between, on the one hand, combo’s and finishers and on the other hand weapon skills and utilities needs to be cut loose. Because most noise (aka random spam) is coming from skills and utilities while having the combo fields and finishers as a side-effect.
There’s only one proper way to fix this and that is to allow us to disable combo fields. I suggested this before in this thread but unfortunately it did not get much attention. It’s such an easy solution and allows us to fully control what we are doing. No complicated prioritizing system, no difficult personal preference system, just simply let us disable combo fields.
I don’t really mind the weird ascended boxes I get from Fractals and Mega Bosses. I do find them rather useless but I understand the negative consequences for wanting to salvage or opening it up for the market.
What bothers me more is the fact that Light Armor is STILL significantly more expensive than the other armor types. It has been many months since the release of ascended armor and the difference in costs is just ridiculously out of balance:
- Zojja’s Doublet (Light): 97 Gold to craft
- Zojja’s Breastplate (Heavy): 70 Gold to craft
For one piece that’s a difference of 27 Gold. Just for this disparity alone I would support OP’s suggestion. Also I would really like to see John Smith’s view on this matter and why there hasn’t been any word given to balance it.
I think might stacks should happen before the fight so technically speaking Hammer shouldn’t interfere that much. Unless you are fighting bosses with a lot of HP. Just make sure you carry a fire field with you (Purging Flames) which you can cast just before you start hitting with your hammer.
Hmm would 500 JC be popular though? Ascended accessories are already extremely abundant, unless they add something special.
As somebody who only plays open world PvE and has 13 80s i still wait for that, since i still need a lot of that stuff.
That’s more of an exception though. I doubt OP is going to heavily invest into JC mats just because there are a few out there who limit themselves to only play open world PvE.
For a long time people have been providing feedback on balancing Warriors. This has led a small nerf to Healing Signet and some other small changes. Unfortunately things haven’t changed very much. Hambow warriors still exist and dungeon runs still consists out of warriors (plus FGS elementalists). Warriors seem to be quite dominant throughout the game for a very long time.
It now becomes clear that the developers have a very different view on how to balance Warriors and I feel like this is something that needs to be looked at.
Will you get banned for it? Doubt it.
Will it get fixed? Most likely, it’s just a matter of time.
FGS is absolutely required in the current speedrun meta. It kills things twice as fast. It’s not intended but not severe enough for the developers to prioritize it on top of the bug fix list apparently.
Yeah, pretty sure this isn’t a bug. I think they just stealth nerfed it.
Well, if it was, a confirmation that it was indeed intentional would be nice.
Rumors are that a developer said to some players that the change to reflects for the Triple Wurm is unintentional. Unfortunately I don’t have any source for this. I heard it from some commanders who do Triple Wurm daily.
The recent change to how reflects work on Triple Wurm just made me not want to go there anymore for a while. I hope this change will be reverted soon.
Your video is banned in Germany, RIP.
Why have I never seen a banned video on YouTube.. strange.
Maybe because I’m in ’Merica?
You’re right, in ‘Merica you can see everything. Even if you don’t want anyone to see it the NSA will be seeing it anyway.
The Advanced Golem is definitely bugging out now that he can move. I haven’t done CoE enough after the patch to replicate the bug but I have an indication what’s causing it:
If you approach the room of the Advanced Golem the turrets around him activate. But if you move back before the Advanced Golem is aggro’d (but do have the turrets around him activated) then I believe he bugs out.
This change hurts all the people complaining about stacking, more than it hurts us. Its a stupid change which makes no sense (area denial to stop you from meleeing AND ranging, wot). But i wont complain, we should see some casual tears soon. And then we can throw it back in their whiny faces.
Unfortunately I have to agree. I don’t label myself as a casual but I actually got kicked from a party today while doing AC P2 because I was able to dodge out of the poison while my party wiped on the Spider Queen.
This change doesn’t unstack players when fighting Spider Queen. It only makes it more risky with PuG’s because it takes one person with bad gear to screw it up. From what I have seen people still generally want to stack even if it leads to a big mess.
You are all recognizing the problem with PvP templates versus PvE templates:
PvE/WvW builds must include actual items. This mean sharing non-PvP builds becomes very complicated. Either you simply can’t do it, or templates save out exact items for reapplication AND save out item type/level/rarity/prefix/suffix/etc for sharing.
A downside that needs to be considered is that templates could lead to too much micro-management. For example, PvE dungeons have bosses where each one of them behaves differently. If templates are made available they need to be easily accessible and transparent so it doesn’t become a choir to change builds each time.
Whoever made the change to reflects this patch didn’t do their homework properly. My guess is that this has something to do with the Mesmer’s Feedback skill which could be extremely effective with the Great Jungle Wurm in Caledon Forest. I haven’t tried it after the patch but it wouldn’t surprise me if the developers tried to fix the Feedback damage on the Great Jungle Wurm and in the process had some collateral damage on how reflect works on other bosses such as Malrona and the Triple wurm in Bloodtide Coast.
I would be very disappointed if the Arenanet would leave reflects in it’s current state as it would even further dumb down the game towards “100 blades”.
Still broken. Next time I will try to do the event by myself. It’s going to be pretty hard though now that Megaserver always has people around.
I was actually surprised that Anet fixed the laser bug before the invisible bug. Due to the extra damage from the laser Tequatl is even more susceptible to become invisible now.
I am quite convinced that this bug is caused by exceeding the damage thresholds during the burn phase. The game doesn’t trigger “the battery phase” if the burn phase goes over the percentage (50% and 25%). Instead, the game thinks the next burn phase has started and puts Tequatl in limbo.
This is what I believe the developers need to do in order to fix this bug:
During burn phase, when Tequatl’s healthbar reaches 50% or 25%, Tequatl needs to become invulnerable so the game properly goes into battery phase.
Has anyone been able to successfully complete this achievement? Considering the lack of soft CC on guardians this is a lot harder for us compared to other classes. Hammer helps with skill #3 #4 #5 but I’m still having a lot of trouble getting to the meat first.
This is how the bug happens:
1. Person tells in chat to /join him for taxi
2. People try to /join on him
3. One person tries to join multiple parties
4. All invites bug out and the game says they are in another party
5. Server becomes full and many people are left out before they can join
This bug has some big consequences for organized world events such as Tequatl and Triple Wurm. Currently large communities and alliances taxi their people into the same server before it becomes full. This is done by inviting people to the party. As people try to join multiple people at once it can cause quite a frustrating situation for many.
I don’t really mind the drop rates. After all, Tequatl and Wurm are supposed to be end-game content and therefore has to keep you busy for a longer period of time. If it was possible to get those items within a month people would get bored quickly.
However, current problems with full maps and bad spawn schedule makes it extra hard to organize it and requires even more of the player’s time than necessary.
oh noes! there is something dangerous in this game! run everyone!! RUUUUUUN!!!!
(or make a thread where u complain about it)if we have a pro warrior in our grp, he usually blocks the aoe (which he uses at first in 90% of the fights) and then we burst it down within ~ 30 (he uses it again after that)
srsly, this dungeons are so easy, why can u even complain? just l2p.
or u want Anet to remove this atacks completely so he only has his basic atack? sounds like fun…edit: i just realize the OP is 6months old…
Did I ever say to remove the attack completely? Please don’t make statements as if I made them.
Of course if you’re in the perfect group with the perfect party there would be no problem. I can very much understand that elitists like you find this kind of content compelling and don’t see anything wrong with it.
So let’s try to keep to the facts instead of name calling (let’s just say telling me to l2p is a pretty dumb thing to say). He’s doing double leap attacks (as shown in my screenshot a few posts back). Apparently you’re telling me that the double damage he’s doing is normal behavior. I’m telling you it’s not. Whether it is WISHFUL behavior is a discussion on a whole different level. I am not saying to nerf it completely into the ground. I’m simply saying it’s not normal behavior.
Also please learn to type and use proper grammar, it would make it much more friendly to read.
kitten those necromancers, man. Why can’t they let the dead rest?
Topic is still very active so why shouldn’t it be allowed to bump it up? I could make a new thread about it but this thread already has far more interesting replies than yours.
The damage in the screenshot below happened within a time-frame of one second. I had Aegis and Shield of Wrath active plus I used all my energy on dodges the moment I saw the ice appearing on the ground. Pretty crazy damage for a Champion and a normal mob.
High population servers aren’t that useful now that Megaservers are active. Because everytime you enter a zone now you are put into the highest populated server. Especially if you don’t play WvW you should reconsider using your gold/gems on a transfer.
Just join TTS .. everything is easy as kitten then
Or isn’t that suddenly anymore the almighty answer to all problems with these encounters ?
I have been trying to join the EU equivalent of TTS for ages but their recruitment always seems to be closed. I found another great group though and I have been able to complete the achievements.
However, problems are still there. The last few days I am unable to get into the same instance as my alliance. The moment we taxi into Bloodtide Coast the instance fills up with random players and I end up into a different server. This is caused by the following problems:
- We can’t have our own instance. Although we can choose to start a guild event (which is quite expensive) this still doesn’t guarantee that all players will be able to join the same map. This means that in both situations (schedule and guild event) we end up with random people who sometimes don’t even speak our language or can’t communicate.
- The schedule is not optimal. We have one spawn during prime time (during dinnertime). Also Tequatl and Triple Wurm are scheduled too close to each other forcing us to rush from one zone to another without giving us the required time to organize.
- Taxi’ing is a tedious process. Getting every person into the same Megaserver is rather hard and requires the majority of our available time coordinating the event.
- Random people think they can just run with the zerg without trying to figure out what to do to successfully complete the event.
- The schedule in Europe for Mega-bosses such as Karka/Tequatl/Triple Wurm is right around the time when everyone is eating. It would be great if these bosses could be pushed one hour later. Ideally, set one in the morning, afternoon and later at night.
- The schedule between Tequatl and Triple Wurm is too close to each other. Everyone has to rush from Tequatl to Wurm making it very hard for organised attempts of guilds and alliances. Servers are filled up with randoms before giving guilds and alliances the chance to get in the same instance.
- Starting Guild World Events is too expensive for events such as Tequatl and Triple Wurm. People want to do these events more than once a week.
Also, how does Shattered Aegis/Pure of Heart work when multiple people apply aegis to the same person? Multiple stacks of Aegis extend the duration…but when it pops, does it trigger for each Guardian that extended that duration? Or is it only once for the last Guardian to apply aegis?
Does Pure of Heart also affect others that have the guardian’s aegis applied? The description is a bit vague. It says: Aegis heals on removal.
I think the ultimate problem with combos and fields is that most players have no idea wtf they are doing when they are using their skills. There is NO teaching method in the early levels of ‘This is a field and this is how it is used’ and ‘This is how you synergize with the various finishers’. Instead, they are taught to spam mindlessly and then they get dropped into group work without knowing how to properly work with others. The amount of times where I have tried might stacking on my elementalist, only to have some poison field or water field thrown down, ruining my ability to make things run smoother and quicker…I have lost count.
There needs to be a newbie crash course or something added way early in the game for new players to understand what is going on.
I agree with the idea that this game doesn’t teach players to utilize combo fields. This is caused by two things:
- Skills and combo fields work ambiguously. There is a very good explanation what each skill does but nowhere in the game does it state what each combo field does. Therefore the immediate first reaction of the player is to focus on skills instead of combo’s.
- Lack of small team events at lower levels. You either level solo by going from heart to heart or you join in on world events with big zergs. Dungeons are very player unfriendly at lower level.
Shield is useful in WvW. Not everyone like to spam hammer #1 and some people like mace — shield is the perfect off-hand for it, defensive wise.
The reason it’s not useful in PvE is similar to the reason tanks are not useful in PvE.
It does what it’s designed to do. It would be nice to add new effects tho, such as daze on #4 and automatic heal at the end of #5. It would also be nice for #5 to have an effect that the more time you have the dome up, the more heal you get.
5s protection on 30s cooldown is reasonable considering it’s the only weapon skill that gives on-demand AoE protection. Get the trait for shield and boon duration if you think it’s too long.
But focus isn’t exactly an offensive weapon either yet almost all Guardians use it as their off-hand. As far as protection goes for weapon skills we also have the hammer that gives on-demand permanent AoE protection (but includes an annoying light field) and therefore outperforms shield by a long shot.
I like your ideas to improve shield and they look somewhat similar to that of the Engineer. For example, if we look at the weapon skills for the Engineer’s shield they are far more superior to the Guardian skills. It reflects, blocks, dazes, stuns AND functions as a blast finisher.
For the people who say torch is fine please do explain me in which situations it would be the best choice of weapon? Because I have never seen a Guardian in PvE, PvP or WvW use the torch. I have a torch precursor myself and would be happy to craft it if I would know where I could effectively utilize it.
Megaservers can only be tested with a large amount of players. You will never be able to get 150+ people on a test server. So honestly I don’t blame Arenanet for doing it this way.
I was hesitant with the idea behind Megaserver at first. But now that I use it more often I am starting to like it. I am coming from a medium-sized server and many areas in the game were desolated. With Megaserver the game feels much more alive. This is definitely a step in the right direction. Of course I also experienced the negative sides:
- Organized events are very hard to organize now. If I want to join gw2community to kill the Triple-Headed Wurm I have to jump through hoops in the hopes of getting in the same server. Guild missions seem to suffer from this same problem where either another guild is already doing the event and guild members are unable to join the same zone.
- Even though the number of players I meet on a daily base heavily increased, it feels less easy to socialize with these players because every time I meet someone I am pretty sure I won’t see that person again. This is currently the case for most end-game content such as world events, cities and dungeons.
I think these two issues are the main issues where Arenanet should focus on finding solutions.
I’m still dreaming of having a guardian with a sword & board. But the skills for shield are terrible in PvE/WvW and only somewhat useful for PvP.
Shield of Judgment – 5 seconds of Protection on a 30 seconds cooldown is awful. If we need protection we have better alternatives (hammer gives permanent protection and shout also regenerates health).
Shield of Absorption – a knock back skill with a 40 seconds cooldown. Other than knocking people out of capturing points in PvP I don’t see the purpose for this skill. It also awkwardly makes you stuck in your current position.
Same story with torch. Guardians only have access to one condition which makes it impossible to build around it.
These two weapons deserve a better spot in our kitten nal.
