All I want from Guild Wars 2 is a way to efficiently make gold.
Dungeons , especially CoF path 1 has gone downhill to the point where if you aren’t a certain profession with certain gear , you are kicked.
When the community of players start asking each other about their gear in a dungeon and they kick for not having the required gear or profession it means dungeons have become a grind.
A newcomer can no longer enjoy a new experience until they run down their checks:
Full zerker gear ,,,,, check
Warrior, Mesmer,or Guardian,,,,,,, check
Correct trait lines,,,,, check
Skills ,,,,,, checkDungeons are now trying to be completed in the shortest time possible just to get multiple runs in a given amount of time.
What is this called????? A GRIND!!!!!!!!!
Dungeons are no longer fun because of the content; dungeons are only fun because of the super easy steamroll that a full zerker team can do! Zerker requirement teams rake in about over 3g every 20 mins. just a fact
So should everyone just assimilate and run the same gear??? Where is the uniqueness in that?
I seriously don’t know how this can be fixed. Must not be broken. All I know is, I don’t like it. Its not what was intended I believe. Maybe should just buff dungeons so zerker gear isn’t the only gear required?
First off, if you don’t like the 4zerker warrior + mesmer meta just ignore it. At max speed they’re only around 1-2 mins faster than a mixed party in doing cof 1. Even with with that at full speed you’ll only make around 1.5g in 30mins from boss silver drops and dungeon complete bonus.
Again, if you want to do a dungeon look for a group that isn’t requesting a gear check or full zerker, 9/10 times those posts are from people without zerker gear.
Has anyone else notices that the trait “Hidden Killer – 100% critical hit chance while in stealth” doesn’t seem to work?
I’m getting quite a few backstabbing normal hits lately.
Hidden Killer works fine.
The trait Improvisation only activates sometimes or not at all.
I have one of these and it works fine, any time i equip a 2h weapon my 1h off hand goes straight to the box as well as any exotic drops i might get, no problems. For junk mabye you should get an oiled bag.
Sb on thief is pretty cool, Cluster bomb drops like 4 more unicorns. Lets forget the horrible idea that is the Quip.
If you finished your monthly after the patch did you receive laurals?
I guess he is right 15k hp puts you in a safe zone, where you can mess up a little and still be ok. So having around 14k – 15k hp means you’ll be ok.
The warrior being more viable than a thief, he’s incorrect.
As a glass cannon thief, 11k hp in a level 80 zone is painful but with dodging its ok plus the damage output is amazing. As for viability in dungeons, glass cannon warrior wins most of the time because they are tanky not because of damage. The thief can put out more damage than the warrior while staying either ranged or melee. Pistol+ pistol = unload = massive damage, sword + pistol = pistol whip = massive damage both of these put out comparable damage to hundred blades, add in a thief’s traits for increased damage while attacking from the side or back and you’ll see they put out more damage than a warrior while being safe with less hp.
Personally, no class is better than another. In the end the mob still dies no matter how fast it gets done. Please try to lower all the hype about heavy armor classes, they go down too.
They only work on creature kills, chests however have a better table then normal kills. We wanted to avoid the game play of killing a boss and then having to equip your whole Magic Find set before opening the chest.
Also magic find is calculated from when the creature is killed so it’s also not viable to use your normal gear set kill a boss then switch to magic find.
This little quote has caused a lot of confusion because it says one thing on the forum but its the complete opposite in the game. Everyone on the forum runs around saying the exact same thing but it isn’t really true. No matter what type of gear you have on, you get the same type of drops as everyone else. 0% or 100%+ you still get the same crap from monster drops. But magic find DOES NOT work on any chests, chests whether its there or its a boss chest it does not affect the loot, they are random and frustrating. Again magic find does not help you find more of anything nor anything better than anyone else. The loot system is based of a pure RNG meaning tag anything and you get something and some days you’ll get good stuff other days you get crap. Magic isn’t working right now. Let me say it again, magic find does not work!!!
If you’re a first timer try for path 3, its the easiest path and people tend to have a little more patience. Easy guide to arah, run like hell, because killing the trash in there makes no sense.
Pistol range on a thief says 900 in the tool tip but its much less like around 750. Could you please correct it.
This often happens when you swap right before a cutscene. Usually it isn’t a problem if you go to your hero tab and manually swap there.
In my experience drop quality doesn’t really change with or without mf. In field I’m almost always in party with an Ele. She runs full mf gear but we get the same quality and quantity of drops, sometimes I’ll get more mats but we get around the same amount of equipment give or take 1 or 2. The only time I see a clear difference in loot quality is from chests , where she’ll pull exotics and I’d get blues. Gonna test this out this week and see if I get better loot from chests in mf gear.
Drop rate is so random it isn’t even funny. Today me and a guild mate ran around all day, did 4 runs of CM, I’m a thief and she’s and elementalist, she’s in magic find gear and I am in full zerkers, she pulls an exotic great sword (Khrysaor, the Golden Sword) and i get blues. A little while later in Fotm level 10 she gets an Axiquiotl out of the chest. Thought magic find didn’t work on chests?
Get ready for the irony, but that really is some very good luck she had. As quoted by Anet, MF has no bearing on chest drops at all.
Does Anet even know if magic find works?
I would really like someone to explain to how the drop rate and magic find actually work.
- I do not get more drops while in party
-I do not get better drops while in party
-I can run around a map all day tagging mobs and still get drops. ( I play a thief so doing damage to single targets and mobs is not a problem)
-I have full magic find gear and berzerkers gear yet I get the same kind of drops
What I would like answered please
-Does magic find affect chests? If not then what does? and do I just have crap then?
-Does magic find really affect mob drops?
- Do some classes have better drop rates than others?

You’ve gone from using 12 slots to only using 5. Swapping for Orian nodes is acceptable because there are at most 5 orian ores and 2 or 3 sapplings on high level maps. Personally this works for me you can try it if you want.
Is this honestly an issue? Here is your solution 2 Orichalcum sickles, 1 Orichalcum Pick and Axe and 2 mithril picks and axes. Equip 1 sickle and the mithril axe n pick then you only need 5 spaces in your bag. Problem solved? Lets make it 8 spaces add 1 master salvage kit and 2 crude ones and you are set. Mithril will gather everything you need except Ori nodes and ancient/orrian sapplings but you’re prepared for that now aren’t you! The only way you’ll get ruined mats now is if you’re in combat .
Convoluted mess = convoluted mess.
Buy : 2 Orichalcum Sickles
1 Orichalcum Mining pick
1 Orichalcum Logging axe
2 Mithril Mining picks
2 Mithril Logging axes
Total bag space used= 8 slots
Equip: 1 Orichalcum Sickle
1 Mithril Mining pick
1 Mithril Logging axe
Total bag space used = 5 slots
Better?
Yea running events in Orr or basically anywhere as a level 80 means you get tonnes of silk and thick leather. I have 5 stacks of silk just sitting there and 4 stacks of thick leather while only having half a stack of mithril. Run around a map mine every ore and chop every tree, you’ll see its very time consuming, also every map has about how many nodes exactly? Not as much as you’d think.

Don’t know our (Yak’s) WvWvW presence has been lacking since we battled Dragonbrand.
Enjoy your easy win Maguuma.
Have you seen CoF runs now? People will kick you or decline you if you’re not a warrior or a mesmer.
Myths about improved drop rates:
– Magic find improves drop rates – false (We’ve all used mf gear and gotten absolutly nothing fancy, nothing but blues and whites maybe a green or a yellow. We’ve all been around when someone with 0% mf finds some really awesome exotic drop or two.)
– Partying improves your drop rate – no it doesn’t, all partying does is let people know when you’re dying, we get the same amount of drops in and out of party, just with a party that converses you don’t feel the boredom set in as quickly as you would if you solo’d.
Now if Stephane Lo would look back at the thread they started and make comments that would be awesome, instead of the anet team running around trying to find ways to stop exploitation and ruin any and every way for players to make money.
We don’t really want better drops we want better drop rates.

Magic find? what is that used for? Making rarer items drop? Does it really work? I would love for an official to answer that because it makes no sense to me. Did a fotm run today dps gear, omnom bar so only 30% mf, got 3 rares from chests nothing good dropped. Our ele full mf gear, no exotics and 1 rare from a chest, our guardian how ever 0% mf gets 2 exotics one after the other as drops. How does this make sense?
We grind and do events for how ever long and get basically nothing out of it. You can do the majority of damage in a party or solo and then someone hits the same mob as you, they don’t get the killing blow but they get better loot than you, I don’t get it.
Loot is a problem, we all get loot, what we get as loot however is different. That RNG is ridiculous. Anet needs to adjust the drop rates.
Considering that the 2300 gold that legendaries go for on the TP equates to roughly around $2400 usd at current exchange rates, I don’t think people are actually going to spend the real money required to but one.
WORKINGS:
Gem -> Gold: 100Gm -> 1.18g
Lengendary price: 2299g (Min sale for Bolt)
Gems required (100’s): 2299/1.18 = 1948.3 ~ 1948
USD -> 100Gm: $1.25USD -> 100GmMoney required = 1948*$1.25 = $2435 FOR Bolt @ 2299g
google (buy guild wars 2 gold) you’ll see it costs alot less than you think. Arena Net should just make them account bound like the gifts.
Bet the armor is going to be tradable too. All the more reason for people to buy gold.
Legendary shouldn’t be tradable. Think about it if the end result is tradable why are the gifts account bound? How does it even make sense?
lmao, try it with a different party composition.
So when did dungeons become “Zerg as fast as you can”.
I haven’t played in several months. I just logged on recently and almost every single dungeon group just rushes past the trash so they reset. And people have figured out exploits so they can bypass Boss mechanics entirely.
This is way different from when I played at launch. I just got kicked from a CoF group because I didn’t know the 122 strat (?) from a boss that I have downed multiple times before (and we didn’t even pull it).
I used to lead a lot of dungeons. But now I don’t feel confident in doing so because people know exactly what trash to reset. What exactly changed? Did people just become too familiar with the dungeons??
Zerg a dungeon don’t zerg a dungeon?! what is it exactly that you want from people?
Most dungeons have mobs that you need to kill, so we kill them, is that zerging? Skipping mobs isn’t zerging either.
You want to kill everything in the dungeon fine, by all means go ahead, most of the mobs wont drop anything anyway so you’re just wasting time.
“Exploits” is finding a short cut really that bad? wouldn’t it be more like flanking the enemy or sneaking in undetected?
People come here and complain about skipping mobs and glitching bosses. Do you know why they do it? They do it because it makes a lot more sense than grinding through most dungeons. Cof is one of the shortest fastest dungeons you can do with out skipping anything. The kiting mob strategy for the room where mag plants his kaboomium works better than going in and trying to fight everything, why because it doesn’t require your party to be tanky and everyone can do it.
As for exploits, so many people have complained about arah farming that they patched it and made farming impossible. I wish I could farm arah for some tokens because getting through an entire path 3 run is too painful if you don’t have a strong party that can dodge because people will die and the lupicus will reset and then if they fail again they will quit.
Guild wars has become a grinding game now. SO go get your grind on
um, demon summoning sigils don’t reset after they’ve summoned the fleshreaver.
oh good snow, you do your snow making thing and I’ll do my lightening you gold bag thing for um…drinks…yea drinks, right.
Ok I don’t see why you would nerf this. Do the math.
Wondrous bag = 3s 43c average X2 = 6s 86c
Blue drops X 7 (provided you actually get drops)(max selling price of any blue is 99c) = 7s
So that’s what 13s 86c lets call it 14s a run add 1s for every green.
So you make 14s in 5 minutes thats 1g 68s per hour.
Provided no-one dies or lures any extra mobs.
If you die subtract 1s 50c for every death. If 2-3 people die while fighting the boss remove 1 run from the total.
Honestly running event chains anywhere makes you that much.
Now the 5 minute run time is very specific to the party because most parties take longer than 5 minutes.
So please explain to me how is this abusive? The gold farm is similar to running the pen/shelt and plinx chains in Orr.
Maybe it was because of an earlier post where a player complained about not being ale to find an Arah party. Note Arah path 3 may be the easiest but a lot of average players cannot get passed the Lupicus. Yes some people think he’s easy that’s fine but I’ve come across people who couldn’t survive in the room. Therefore would never get tokens. This is hurting the game. As for the economy please do not use precursors as a measure because its like using a Ferrari when you really need to use a tin of peas.
Honestly, this one kinda sucked, there wasn’t much of anything to do, a scavenger hunt that was really short with no real reward and then this final event which took our overflow about 3 hours to complete with lag and disconnects. Anet you should’ve left out the precursors from the final chest.
Other than the Karka Shell I didn’t get any level 80 items. They were all level 75-79 but I’m used to that.
After I did Arah story mode and my reward from finishing my personal story was a bunch of sub-70 blues I stopped expecting to get anything worthwhile that I didn’t intentionally farm for.
That’s really odd because the chest was supposed to drop 2 rares and 2 exotics. Anet said “they have people looking into it.” That is really odd though.
I got crap from that chest, don’t know if dying 4 times meant that I wasn’t going to get all level 80 drops. Guild mate of mine got level 40-60 drops but that’s because she’s level 45. Most people who got precursors just chuck it up on trade post for 300g. As for the person who swapped to an alt, he needed to have had the alt there and participated in order to get the chest and personally i think its a great plan, move all you chars together let them each touch the boss for a minute then swap out, chest shows up swap back in and “boom” at most 5 chances to get something nice. Bollocks.
Me too. Wonder what is going on with GW2
