hey bri, nice link, and see, i was right that i should bugger you when i need some info
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
hey people, very sad Noppy is coming here once more
i thought my problems with the laptop were over, but it seems they were just hiding and now showing there ugly head again.
Main problem is the heath when playing games.
I know, laps are not the best choice to play games on, but for now, i’ll have to do with it. No desktop atm, but saving for a new one and looking A LOT at different sites to see whats out there at this moment and looking what it may cost (so far looking at a target off 1000 euro for a new system, and some more for a screen, keyboard, mouse and sound)
So i will keep crashing the forums and spill my idea’s to you all, but when i’m online, it will not be for long streches but more like little visits (seem to be able to play around 30-60 minutes before my system gets too hot for me to feel ok).
I hope i get the money together soon and if any off you has some suggestions for a new system, mail me (no need to get this thread even bigger then it allready is Feels like a guild forum by now, but with only 1 single thread
)
So that is the latest update from me, see you around folks and stay happy
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
i have no idea how fast you an do a lvl 80, but i would like to recommend that you take your time and enjoy the game all the way.
as many have pointed out in a lot off threads, this game is not about the rush to lvl 80 but about the journey to lvl 80.
so take your time, explore a bit and have fun while doing that and don’t rush to lvl 80 and then have the feeling that you have bought the wrong game.
just my idea offcourse, feel free to ignore me
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Just to see this thread on the front off the forum again
In loving memory off the OP, a name that will life on in The Legion!!
for you Glitch
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
@bri kitten there is still soooo much i don’t know off this game!!
Gonna have to read the wiki a bit more to get into that “rune stuff” you’re talking about
But happy to see that there are people that know what they’re doing!
So i will be nagging you to death once i level a bit more and need to know a bunch off stuff and feel just to lazy to check the wiki :p
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Ok, i maybe wrong here, but what i understand from the OP wall off text (love to read a nice long thread) is that he not so much is asking to all go role playing.
He has a problem (and i do feel the same) that most people only rush to the lvl cap and then have a feeling off being cheated by Anet.
These games (and yes, there are other mmo’s out there) have a big world build and my experience with GW2 is that they encourage you to spend time in EACH zone, not just to lvl as quickly as possible, but to EXPLORE the area, trying to get a sense off what is happening and what your role can be in it all.
Just as a simply and short example, i can run from 1 side off a zone to another in a few minutes and then say: hey, i’m done here!
But that same path can cost me several hours to complete because i just spend 10 minutes looking at this awesome view from that hill over there and now i’m wondering what would be behind that other hill.
I hope i make myself clear (it is very late here while i type this) but in short, i do feel that OP is looking for more a fun approche to the game then what the hardcore, ultra fast, ‘look how fast i’ve reached 80’ is too most off the mmo’s these days.
sorry for the long post and the use off capitals in my own wall off text, just getting this off my chest
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hehe, that maybe true Glitch, and we love to follow you into this mad and exciting journey.
And about the 2 threads: they count as a multitude off that, since the lenght, the number off replies and the textwalls (i know, guilty myself on that last part)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
@Nepocrates He’s the person responsible for this very very long thread and some others. He also started with us the guild.
Hopes that is enough info, otherwise just ask more
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
And here i’m once more!! (you’ll gonna be sorry that my laptop is working again :-p )
Just wanted to share a “noob” incident that happend to me just a few minutes ago.
I was looking for a Vista that i needed to complete the map, and yep, there it was. Offcourse on top off a building, where else?? grin grin
So your noble servant runs to the building, start climing stairs and at a certain point, i think, here it becomes harder. So i search how i could reach the point by jumping on ramps, dropping off and almost getting killed by a little to deep cliff. I guess that you’ll have been in the same situation
But the “noob” thing comes now. After another drop to the deep, I approch the building from a new side, and by simple following the stairs, i make a turn to the right and there….. yes indeed, there is the Vista!!
So i spend about 15 minutes to get to a Vista that i could have reached in just 2 minutes. Talking about a noob!! soooo shamefull
But hey, i’m playing the game again, so its a positif turn on things
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
This is great!
I remember when we were chatting in that other illusive thread (you know, the one about helping other players with dungeon runs) that some off us where thinking about how great it would be to get more people together that shared the same basic mindset. And now, it seems like a snowball on a steep mountain! The new people just keep coming and coming, and they are very welcome!!
As for my lack off being online, i’m truly sorry! My laptop has given me some major troubles but it seems that that is fixed now. So i’m gonna come in maybe tonight, if not, tomorrow during the day. So all look out, Noppy is coming back
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
REALLY? REALLY? Seriously, I thank people when they pull monsters for me. Farming is a lot faster if you don’t have to pull them yourself.
You should too, that’s etiquette.
This will depend on your char and how good you are in handling multiple mobs at once. Not all people are able to stand strong in a train and will surely die. I’m thinking about elementalist or ranger (have only experience with those 2). They play great, but when rushed by a large train, its very hard to survive this on your own. So be carefull with this.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
I don’t miss them at all!
I just love that you can wonder around in a new area and by doing that, talking to NPC’s and just basicly doing your own thing, you get exp, loot and a feeling off being able to do something in the world.
In WOW (my previous addiction) you have that quest list off things to do but it feels like work, not like pleasure and i like my game time to feel like pleasure. If not, i might just go back to the real job and earn some RL money.
Just my idea about this.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Welcome kierg, and happy to see that you enjoy the game so much!
Same for me, although i haven’t been able to play a lot the last month (no Halloween event for me ) because my laptop crashed totally. But i’m saving for a new rig and start all again getting addicted to GW2
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey Krosslite,
it’s a bad experience and as you tell it, it got worse. People sometimes train mobs to another player by accident. I mean, when you get a bigger chunk then you can chew, you run, right? And then you sometimes get a train that follows you, so if you pass another player (again, not deliberate) you can be call for that. But in that case its an unfortunalle experience.
On the ohter hand, the story you tell, where the whole guild, including the leaders, come and train you and let you die, that’s just NOT DONE!! No other explanation or hiding behind “peer presure”, you just don’t do that to another person.
So indeed, go report them, try to avoid those kind off people and keep following that golden rule! I know i do the same and i count my blessings that i (so far) never had an planned train on me.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey people! It’s Noppy again!
Yes, i’m still alive! I’ve been swamped with work, bad connections, a laptop that had a major system shutdown (painfull, as it’s my only connection to you all at the moment) and some other stuff happening.
I haven’t been able to play at all for a few weeks now (can you imagine, the horror to not be able to play AT ALL!!) and even getting on the forums was hard. I hope all is settled down now and that i can come here a bit more in the next days and weeks. Playing will be on hold a bit longer (still having a lot off work, both in my paying job as at home) so i’m sorry but you’ll gonna have to wait a bit longer before i can storm the chat a bit
As for the MASSIVE grow in members, great to see you all having such fun and welcome to all that have joined or want to join us. It’s good to see so many like minded people in a game.
Have fun in Tyria, chat and help each other and we’ll meet soon on the playfield!!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
@LokiShi
I understand what you’re saying, but thing is, i have no real connection with my current guild. I haven’t played much with them, they are mostly silent in guildchat (even after a warm “hey everybody! how you’re all doing?” from myself) and basicly, it wont be a lose if i quit them all together.
But…. as you say, i can just keep them on the list, and talk a bit when they want to
So gonna tell them about the move, and then off to GH
Ps. thanks Glitch for the great prize!! It’s an honor to be here with all off you and made this happen!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
I’m not in your level (still around 33) but i have been reading a bit on the forums and as far as i found out, you don’t need to keep running Orr. You can go to the area’s just below lvl 80 and run there the DE’s. Rewards are almost the same (just a little bit lower) and the change that you really can tap on the mobs is much higher. Also, they are not over runned by all those lvl 80 players that want to farm DE’s in the lvl 80 zone(s).
Well, that’s the info i found on the fora, hope it will help you a bit!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey people!
I’m gonna transfer to GH but first i’m gonna inform my present guild that i’m moving. It’s not that i’m soooo bound to them but it’s the decent thing to do.
So after that is done, you can expect me popping up on Gunnar’s Hold!
Noppius
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Finally making my apperance in Union
Name: Kris (aka Noppy)
Main: Meriand Green (human ranger, lvl 33 as i write this up)
Current Server: Underworld, but thinking to join Gunnar’s Hold (yes Glitch, i’m going to the girls) )
Interested Activities: well, playing this game in all its facets. I would love to try WvW at one time, dungeons sound interesting, still have to explore a large part off the world, must see about crafting a bit, obviously need to level a bit more grin grin, wanna help out some other people, want to chat ‘till my fingers cramp up, … i think you get the point
Active: that’s a tricky one! When i have time, i love spending it in Tyria but… hectic workshedule, a loving but time consuming family (lovely wife and 2 kids ages 2 and 6 so you do the maths) and friends seem to keep me away at this moment from the game. So let’s hope it gets better (a few days off work would be great!) and you’ll see me more online.
Additional comments: i talk! simple and short! just see my postings and you know what to expect when you start with me) But seriously, i’m a social gamer (no, not a Facebook junk) that loves to help out people and making fun in the proces. More info will be shared online
Joining Union?? Euhm, since it seems i’m partly responsible for this thing, i better join it Sure i’m in, just mail my membership pass and i’ll get back to you!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
The fee depends on the lvl that your crafting skill is/was.
Normally (as long as they don’t change the fee’s) its 10 copper per lvl your crafting skill is. So at max lvl it would be 40 silver for a switch.
Hope this is what your looking for.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey, i see the thread is still alive
No news on the game front for me, it’s been a hospital here the last few days. First the kids and then the misses getting sick. Wondering when it’s gonna be my time….
Hope it all settles down soon and i get some more game time again
For the rest, keep up the good work here people, and see you all soon in Tyria, joining the Union group!!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey people!
It’s been a while since i got back here but RL is taking a lot off time atm.
Gonna join you guys asap, but right now i’m just letting you know that
i’m still aboard Glitch.
So no panic, i’ll be there very soon (hope to have my day off on thuersday or friday).
Take care and ’till soon!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Great tip Amarinth about the ‘invisible’ option. Didn’t knew that one.
As for guild, you can join multiple guilds with your account Twilite, and for each char you can choose 1 guild to represent, or just represent none. That is up to you offcourse. But i can understand why you would like to have a “non social” char, we don’t feel the same way every day
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey Lance,
great to see a fellow countrymen in this game, looking for the same stuff as i am.
I would recomment to join in on Operation Union as it has some great people allready in it.
We all are very very chatty, specialise in social behaviour and basicly are the kind off people your looking for!
So hup over to the post Lexy linked and see you soon on the good side off Tyria
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey there, since the question is solved, i just wanted to say that there are NO stupid questions, only stupid answers.
If you don’t know something, then you should ask. If the reply is just plain stupid, then that’s that posters problem.
Cheers and have fun!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey there and welcome!
As BakBakaa told before, Ranger with some melee second weapon is great. I play myself a Longbow Ranger with a Greatsword. My focus is mainly at the bow but when needed and when the enemy gets too close, i take out the Greatsword and just chop them to pieces. Keep in mind that your ranger has not the armor and hp off a warrior so don’t rush into a heap off mobs. That’s a fast ticket to the graveyard
About the advice to go to the Mist, its true that you can check out how your char is at lvl80, but keep in mind that if you are new to the game that it is a lot to take in and to understand to make a solid decision about your proffesion.
Take care, check some profs out and by all, have fun in Tyria!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey people!
No way near lvl 80 but i see what you all are saying and i can agree. It’s indeed a sad thing when a huge group off players attack a DE and all you can do is ‘try’ to tag a few mobs in the hope you get some loot. It’s nothing about tactics or organized fighting, it’s just spamming AoE’s and hope the frontline can hold there ground
I often wander in the lower lvl area’s just for gathering resources and try to help out people that are struggling to get a mini boss down or have just attracted to many mobs to handle. It’s a fun way to spend time in Tyria, i get the feeling that i’m able to help out others and in the end i even get loot, exp and karma (and even some coin) for my time spent.
So everybody should wander around a bit and see if there’s something else they could do beside farming Orr or what ever lvl 80 area.
This is not WoW people, this is GW2 and the rules have been changed.
As for the scaling off events, i guess that they do scale, but there is a limit to what can be done to match the number off players and the balance is indeed sometimes pretty off.
That’s all i have for now, so enjoy your stay in Tyria, and try to be open minded, the game gets better when you play that way
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Welcome to this great game!
It’s best that you look for a guild that fits your play style (casual, hardcore, pvp, pve) so that you feel at home. Also check out this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Helping-New-Players-Helping-New-Players-With-Dungeons/page/2#post402612
I must warn you though, its a lot off text in that thread
We are trying to get a group together with the same mindset to form a guild/cross server guild.
Just check it out and leave a reply (would made Glitch very very happy )
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey all!
Still following the topic, so don’t worry, i’m here!
But… also a lot off RL stuff to do (work, kids, wife, and some more ) and also need some time to be in Tyria so i can continue my adventures there.
So it’s just a very very little post now, just to let you all know that i’m still alive and following you all. Been thinking to move servers once we’ve found out where most off us are playing atm. Want to be on the good side off the servers
My guild, friendly and all, is just not that chatty and it seems a lot off people are just out there doing there stuff, so i’m willing to move to a group that at least talks a bit more
Well, we’ll see what happens in the near future, but i’m hearing all off you!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey people!
Can’t resist to make my contribution again
@Glitch, happy to see that the second attempt with your brother ended better. And as i see it, you’ve learned also. Once more, this proves that this is not a ‘simple’ game. We all have to learn how to play this, and yes, that takes time. For some people a bit more then to other, but we all have to do the legwork. And in the end we become better gamers.
@Akamon hehe, i love it when people having fun with my postings
As for the guild thing, and this is not just to you, but to everybody here, this is a great idea, but it will take some work to get this up and running the way we want it. So yes, i’m all in for the guild (have to see how this will work with my current guild, need to do some reading about it with this multiple guild things and representing one), but i think it will take some time before we all are happy with it.
And Glitch, the name is great, loving it allready!
@Thunderstorm
I feel very, very sorry that you have seen so many egocentric behaviour. It seems that people these days can only think about themself. As long as they are happy, the rest off the world can just f***up! It’s that attitude that makes good and honest people turn away from a community. I understand completely that you have no desire to go back to a game where you constantly have to deal with that behaviour. But, as others have pointed out, try to switch servers. I’m on Underworld, and have not met any ‘13 year old’ that has no social skills and can only use basic neanderthal language (you know, something like: me got club, you dead, me happy! but with less syllables). So i count me with the lucky ones.
So a different server might help out a lot! Please, please, please Thunderstorm, don’t give up yet! Stay with us and join a group off people that are mature enough to be civil in a game as they would be in the real world.
@Tungdil
Hello there mate, i’m also a dutch speaking player and want to say ‘Welcome!’
It’s no shame to admit that you’re new to the game. Even an lvl 80 player was one time a new player. We have to learn, we have grow and at one point, we can spread the knowledge that we have gathered in the journey that we took.
As for your playstyle, i play much the same way. I also have that ‘urge’ to res slain people, players and NPC alike! And that’s just great! When you have the ability to res an NPC, then there is a whole set off social rules that come into play. What i mean is this: in GW2 we, the players, have the choice to res a person. And that person can be a player or an Non Player Character. Now lets say that the person is a player char. We res the char and in return we expect something. So we do the res to gain something. That something could be a simple ‘thank you’ or some help with a quest/dynamic event, or something completely different. Bottomline, we expect something!
When the downed person is a NPC, we can not expect anything for him/here when we res them. They are still scripted agents in a game. So why should we res an NPC? Well, i tell you why i res them! I feel that i contribute to the feeling off being in a realistic world. In a world were people are important. ALL PEOPLE!! Why? Because if in RL a farmer dies, he can not provide the community with goods at the market, so the community loses those goods.
Now in GW2, we do not ‘need’ those farme because he doesn’t really provides anything to the community. But…. we all want to be in a living, realistic world when we play a game (mind you, not too realistic because that would just be RL and we have enough off that allready ). So that is why i go all the way to res a slain farmer/fisher/guard.
In my opinion that is just decent, mature human behaviour that you do in the game Tungdil! So keep it up and play on.
People allways talk about what standart rules we should follow in RL and in games, but its very simple. Just play they way that you want other to play! Behave, be nice and helpfull, just as you should do in RL and as told before here, be an example and soon others will follow.
@Glitch
Lol for the ‘redeem code’ made me chuckle!
And to round up this rather long post, i would like to reach out to all you here in the community to join this wonderfull group off players that is gathering here. We seem to be all in the same mindset and i would like to descripe us as a mature group that will to everything possible to make this game a great, wonderfull social experience! Something that is so scares these days in the hectic world we live in.
Go on and be brave! cheers
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey Glitch,
just a small response, i promise
I love the way this post has grown and it’s so good to see that other people are doing the same thing as i am.
On your “bad” experience with the dungeon, i guess that some people still think that time played is more important then class played.
You do have a good point there and it’s just to bad that your brother can’t see it that way at this point.
As for your 4 point list, absolutely true! This is a game that you have to “learn” and just as in school, learning takes time, effort and then some more
So lets keep this “blog” going, i love it!!
Cheers
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Nice piece off information!
I’m sure that there are other posts out there that explain the same thing, but i like the way you made that short list and its a good help to new people in the game.
Cheers!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey Seddrick,
i see much has been sad allready and that you somehow made up your mind. But on you’re last comment, you say that your friends like playing Charr or Asuran. That is great for them, but don’t let your choice being changed by what they like. Play what you want, when you want and how you want, that way you have the best time in this game (and many others).
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey people,
i follow this post for a bit now, and must say, i’m very happy to see that there are a lot off people out there that feel and play the same way as i do.
After reading a lot (and i mean A LOT!!) off topics and different opinions, i have a feeling that the community can be devided into 2 large groups.
The first group are the people with a complete different mindset then us here on this topic. They hurry to 80, start grinding for gear, and then…. start whining on the forums that there is no endgame, there is nothing to do, they feel cheated by Anet, they want a refund,… do i need to continue?? I think you get the picture about the people i’m talking about.
Just yesterday, i found this topic ‘do you think the game is worth your 60 dollar?’ A lot off people saying yep, i enjoyed the game, i love it and so on.
BUT, there are the people that are never happy. One person stated that he wasn’t happy ‘bout the money spend. He had 250+ hours played the game and then start saying it’s not worth 60 bucks. I mean, come on, do you really keep playing a game for over 200 hours if you don’t like the game?? I wouldn’t!
This again pointed out to me that you have to have a different mindset for GW2. We, the group that is on this topic and all players with the same idea about the game, we’re having fun!! Just simple fun! We love to explore, are helping out other people without expecting anything more than a simple ‘thank you’, and basicly are ‘living’ the game. We don’t feel the need to reach the top in the quickest way. We want to enjoy our time here.
Also, this game went live around 28 august. That’s just over a month. This is a major MMO, with thousands off people trying out all kind off different stuff. So there are bugs (and not the good kind). Big deal! Did anybody played Skyrim from the beginning? I did and there where also a ton off problems at start. And that’s just a single player game. So give the people who worked for 5 years on this piece off entertainement a break. Let them take the time to sort stuff out and get it working as plannend.
Those who are waiting and complaining that Anet isn’t doing anything, are the same whiners that i mentioned before.
Agian, a lot off text but i guess you are used to it by now :-)
What i want to point out is, people, take the time to ‘enjoy’ this game. Don’t rush trough content just so you can nag about the lack off content passed 80.
And give Anet some time to get rid off the bugs and problems that are present at this time.
Just to remind some people, WoW (the great MMO that seems holy to some people) also had there share off bugs, game code problems and basicly all the stuff that every MMO encounter at startup (and even far after the early days).
My idea about a lot that is going on. Comment if you like ;-)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Yes! simple and clear!
I have a family (wife and 2 kids ages 6 and 2) and work as a traindriver (strange hours and weekends, holidays working) so have a hectic schedule. I sometimes can play 4 hours straight and other day’s i’m lucky to just jump in for 30 minutes. And even some day’s i can’t play at all.
So no monthly fee was a big winner for me, and for the rest, i love the more realistic design and artwork then the design in ‘that other MMO we don’t speak off’, love the way you get rewarded for everything you do (exploring, crafting, questing, helping out others,…..)
So i spend 55 euro for the game, and so far its been the best investment in a game for over a year for me!!
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/OPERATION-UNION-Bringing-Players-Together/
Hey there people!
Just want to give you my opinion.
I’m just getting to lvl 30 and so far have not been able to enter a dungeon. But i did play WoW (don’t start screaming, i DID play WoW, not doing that anymore but that’s a complete different toppic) from European Beta and people did helped each other out a lot. Dungeons where hard and you needed information from experienced people to get it done.
That all changed over the years when they made the game easier and easier so you could just rush to the level cap. So people didn’t asked for help, and you didn’t asked for it anymore. All you did was reading the right forum posts, watched a youtube movie about the dungeon and then hoped that some group would let you run along with them so you could do the dungeon.
People are not used anymore to ask for help. And there are a lot off people that don’t wanna make time to help others with something that is not helping themself.
I’m happy to see that in this game there are people with a different mindset that really want to help people with achieving there objectives. It’s true that you have a lot off people showing up for an event and they just disappear after the event ends. But i have also notiched people that are running alongside a low level char and they chat about the mission the lowby is on and how they gonna tackle that.
Speaking for myself, i tend to help out people when i see them in trouble. Jus yesterday i was in Divinity Reach for a bit off my personal story and when that was done, i went outside the city. I was in a relaxed mood so i decided to run all the way to Kessex Hills insted off using the waypointsystem. What was planned as a short run to the zone, turned out into a 2 hour run around Queensdale. I found a few people struggling with an veteran mob, so i decided to help them. After that they walked along with me and we stumbled on a event in the monestary. After that i went on, came to the swamp and another player was in trouble (another veteran and he/she was a bit to low lvl for that area). I can go on and on but i guess you get the idea by now :-))
I’m a helper, i go out off my way to res a player (even an npc, just to keep sure that those guards/fishers/farmers can keep the world alive). I run to the other side off an area when i see a call for help/res/info/guide in the chat and help out.
The only thing i hope they do is say a simple ‘thans’ and maybe later on return the favor to another player in need.
A very long post, i know, but to sum it up: i like to help out people even if it takes some time. Some are thankfull, others just run away or being rude. It’s all about the mindset they are in and what they are used to. Play like a mature, friendly and helpfull person and you feel great. Be a egocentric player and you run to the forums to complain about overpowerd prof’s, underpowerd prof’s and insane hard dungeons that need to be nerved.
That’s just my opinion, look forward to hear your thoughts on it.

Shaemoor cemetary – Lady in White huh?
I was looking for that event for a while, had talked to the Priest of Grenth who, at day, is in one of the crypt doorways. He said there was a restless ghost around at night. So I’ve been at that cemetary 10 nights in a row trying to find her… finally did!
Indeed, that’s the one i was talking about. I’m very bad at remembering names and i never saw the Priest, i was just wondering around at night and stumble on that event.
Sure was a nice twist

Stevoli, i guess you’re talking about elementalists.
I must agree that i haven’t yet master the gameplay for that profession and indeed, you need to “learn” this game.
Most people out there just expect to instantly master a profession and then they go complaining that every game is the same.
When they find a game that is not the same as the other ones, they go complaining that its to hard or that the profession is “underpowered”.
So again, nice input from all

Hey Major,
i do agree with your point on reporting Bot’s as much as possible. But i would say 1 thing about your list. The “Botter usually aren’t in a guild” is a dangerous thing to say.
I for one have been playing a long time in WoW without having a guild. The same for GW2, i just recently joined up and not even sure if i should have done that. So there are some people there that just don’t feel the urge to join a guild, but they are no Bot’s.
And just as a side note, i’m a Ranger with a brown bear pet and i’m also NO bot
PS, once more, i totally agree with the idea to find out who’s a bot and report that to ArenaNet asap

Yes I have seen the NPCs that run up to you and that is fine. But mostly in the higher level areas. Maybe I haven’t paid enough attention, but I don’t remember seeing that in the 1-15 Human Starting area.
I have seen this happening in the humans start area. It was on one off the farms where a peasant run to me as asked ‘have you got a minute’.
So i guess we all have to learn to pay attention to the NPC’s. It’s new to many off us that have played other games, but i think it’s a great way off getting more “into the game”!
So let’s all look out for people that need help (NPC’s and Players alike) and make this a real journey in a wonderfull world!

Hey Taka,
i’m also relative new to the game but i have been playing with a Ranger for some time and i love it.
There’s a lot off talk about Ranger and what weapon to use, and i can only speak for myself. But i love my Ranger and his longbow skills. It’s a prof that needs some thinking ahead when you play it (keeping your distance and calculate the cooldowns to max damage, charming new pets etc.)
I can’t really tell you if it would suit you (not really a ‘glass canon’ in my opinion) but give it a good try.
As for Elementalist, its like Mongo says, not the most populair prof atm. I have tried it and it does work and gave me heaps off fun when playing ‘in a group’.
I think that Elem needs some support to survive in the early game (haven’t reached mid or end game area’s so no idea how that is for either Ranger or Elem). As long as there where other people in the area and on the same “quest”, i could play great with my Elem, but when i was really solo, it takes a lot off considering and sometimes a lot off running away to survive.
Just my idea’s, hope they help you a bit!

I think that’s a bit hard to say. I honestly do believe that crafting is a great thing in this game with the discovery and just to see the great artwork they put into all those things. But it’s no that you can’t be good when you don’t do crafting.
So far i have crafted a bit (still low lvl char) and had fun with it, but i could just as easy dismissed that and just continued with exploring and enjoying the game.
That’s just my thoughts, hope they help you a bit.

Had a similar thing happening. Was at a cementery at night and there was this lady who was looking for somebody to escort here home. I did the gentle man thing and accepted the escort. When we came to the gates off the cementery, she turn violent and became a mob to attack. Never saw that coming! Gave some nice loot also

Just wanna put my 2 copper here!
I have been playing WoW from the European Beta and continued playing for almost 5 years. Then, due to RL, i had very little game time and had to abandon WoW.
It would cost me more then i wanted to spend for the few hours per month i could play. Then later, i had more time and i started playing again. But in the time that i hadn’t played they changed the game drasticly and i was not having any fun at all! You just rushed to the lvl cap and that’s it!
So i quit again and never had the urge to go back.
Now i tried GW2 (after a lot off reading and checking out some live streams and YouTube clips) and i have to say: WAAAW!!
This game is so different from WoW, i can’t begin to explain how different!
The visual aspect is a welcome change from the start, you can just wander around and still have fun (DE, new area’s, unexpected quests), they have just packed so much into each corner off the world!
And then i wonder what people are saying that they don’t lvl quick enough to go to the next area. At this moment, i have a lvl 13 human ranger (i know, still very low and still very new to the game) but i still haven’t explored the start area completely and have barely touched the story.
So i would invite everybody to just ENJOY this game and keep in mind that lvl 80 is not the goal, but having fun is the way to go!
Just my thoughts!

Thanks to all that presented their guild and i’m happy to say that it’s wonderfull to see so many happy gamers that are creating a great atmosphere in this wonderfull game
I will make a decission asap!

Hey there,
i’m pretty new to the game but loving it so far! I have only 1 char up to lvl 9 (i know, still very very low) but was looking for a group off people that i could join.
I’m a middle age man (boy, that sounds stupid, but being 35 i guess it’s the correct description), living in Belgium so thats MGT+1.
I have a very chaotic workshedule (some days very early starts, some days very late nights) and play this game on a casual base (whenever i have some spare time).
I do have a lovely wife and 2 kids so they also demand some off my time.
A lot off info, i know, but i want to honest from the beginning. So if there are some guilds out there that want to recruit such a “strange” player, let me know
I have no problems with changing servers as long as the free migration is availible, so let me know what i can do for you and then meet up in game
