Anet it’s 2015.. give us at least DX11… there is already GPU’s with DX12… -_-
Games take YEARS to design, HOW THE HECK do you expect them to serious port everything to DX11? LOL
Rejoin the instance, all the motes have a tendency to not be generated. Its a known problem that ANet is aware of I believe.
Did that like 10 times but still nothing
Not much more that you can do except that, make sure to log a bug with the in game tool and you can post in the technical section as well.
Sorry to hear about the abuse, its actually pretty rare for something like that to happen in GW2. Normally the playerbase does not freak out in PvE unless provoked quite badly.
You can do an elixer engi with just ONE kit (normally grenade or bomb) and a rifle and its VERY effective in PvP and WvW.
That would be your best bet.
There is a HGH Celestial Engi variant I saw in a thread recently.
Here is the video. Gave it a try, loved it : although to be fair, I am not THAT good of a PvP and WvW roamer, but from my experience its pretty good.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK46d8nJKMU
EDIT : would like to add, Guard is pretty boring to be honest.
(edited by Novuake.2691)
Thieves / Rangers are a BIT more popular now in CERTAIN paths.
Play something other than PvE if it bothers you.
I just wanted to add my test results (just a quick test, didn’t try different settings, or run around the whole event area). I was defending north turrets. All settings on max (except the cheap AA, because I supersample instead) @ 2560×1600. The lowest I saw was 19 fps looking directly at the zerg, zoomed out, from north turret area (ran a little closer, didn’t make a difference). I also didn’t get very far into the fight before the game crashed from hitting the 3.7GB memory limit (because its 32-bit).
Relevant specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790k (stock settings = 4.3 GHz constant on my mobo)
GPU: ASUS AMD Radeon HD7970
RAM: 16GB, 1866MHz, CL 8-9-9
Seems about right, maybe a little on the low side, but that could just be the RAM limitation. GET 64BIT NOW! :P
I didn´t dive deep into this but as far as I know it was about messing up some … let´s say “thread-to-core-binding” (not a native english, so sorry) and the more cores you got, the bigger the problem was.
I´m not saying this is the case with gw2 too, just wanted to point out, that in some circumstances it COULD be that a medium rig works better than a high-end rig. As seen with Rebirth (there also for some time no one could imagine why the high-end rigs had so much more issues than the cheaper ones)
Ah yes, I understand what your saying.
Back with the first Intel Quad cores they would actually have a lower clock speed than their dual core variants. Since games were, and to a degree still, prefer single cores with higher clock rates they would have run better on the higher clocked(and cheaper) dual cores.
This isn’t really relevant anymore though.
(edited by Novuake.2691)
I would. If you would have even noticed that what I had posted that I have as a rig is NOT one of their pre-built systems (I dare you to find any of their pre-built PCs that would be 8-core). You didn’t, so, allow me to kind of not give much value to the advice.
Also, their machines can be purchased through other sources, that bring the price drastically – I paid for mine about 65% of the price on the website.
Some of us posting here have worked on computers when they (the computers) were as big as a room and used punch cards. Think on that a little.
Prebuilt or not, their OPTIONS are generally not worth it, MOST notably power supplies. I think the “best” quality units they provide (that isn’t complete wattage overkill) are like the Corsair CXs, which have sub par build quality and dodgy CAPs susceptible to overheating and failure.
As in attached the only decent units are the Corsair RM750-850, which is WAY more wattage than MOST systems require. Not to mention around that price the RMs are actually just a bad choice since there are BETTER and CHEAPER units at lower cost.
As for how old and what computers you worked on, I do not see how that is relevant now? The fact that you seem to be starting towards a kitten measuring contest makes me question your actual age… But that is just a passing thought and I am NOT trying to insult you.
Rejoin the instance, all the motes have a tendency to not be generated. Its a known problem that ANet is aware of I believe.
There’s been some info released about a panel at PAX South in which they’ll be addressing future plans for GW2, so I imagine anything related to LS Season 3 would be talked about at that point.
http://south.paxsite.com/schedule/panel/guild-wars-2-beyond-the-point-of-no-return
EXPANSION CONFIRMED.
In all seriousness though, we do not know yet and will probably find out at pax OR on Tuesday Newsday the 20th of Jan.
No chance increase, just RNG Gods favouring you FOR THE MOMENT.
And Mystic Toilet is perfectly apt nickname, its pretty much a gold sink.
Stop making your pet peeves other peoples issue. I can say this cuz I do it too. :P
I just want to mention: playing X-Rebirth showed, that many high-end rigs did perform very poor while medium to low-cost rigs did get better fps.
For me that means that even the best rig can struggle cause of the coding while a medium rig COULD perform better in some cases
I do not see how this is even possible, there MUST be other factors involved.
Are you comparing apples with apples or apples with marshmellows?
While the meta was a little frustrating, however the time to do it in is so lengthy that any complaints should just be ignored other than the few buggy / convenience complaints, ones that I would like to mention :
1. Falling damage bug still exists and Wintersday puzzle was crap with that bug, NOT fun. Same thing for that weird lag bug where its like your character is falling but isn’t, using a movement skill breaks you out of it.
2. Free play in Bell choir.
3. The goodies to be bought with clothes was completely and utterly useless for 99% of the playerbase.
That is pretty much the only real gripes I have other than the Wintersday “grind” that wasn’t a problem with such a long window to do it in.
(edited by Novuake.2691)
It pretty much fullfills the same role as the rifle with more condi pressure but less CC.
Its not a bad kit, just not AS good currently as some of the others because of the above statement.
Something to note, if you have a sort of niche build that uses low cooldown sigils with good on crit effect its a REALLY good kit.
Another drawback of the kit is that its EXTREMELY bad when attacking target with retaliation since its auto is 10 ticks of damage.
As mentioned its best in a power based build, not cele.
EDIT : its useful on a decap engi in PvP though, you can almost constantly CC them away. But decap engi’s arn’t great for higher levels of play.
I only got an i7-3770k (multicore, yes, x 8 ) with an AMD Radeon 7900 series and I have absolutely no problems with lag or fps drop and I always play with highest settings possible. Try Ibuypower. They have really good gaming computers.
Ibuypower does NOT have good gaming computers.
They overcharge badly.
Use subpar and barely capable hardware to run the system.
Their prebuilt system are all totally unbalanced with either overpowered motherboards,CPUs, GPUs or RAM in relation to the rest of the system.
Custom build, or ask on an ACTUAL hardware forum like Toms Hardware, which I frequent often.
Feel free to PM me if you need help selecting a balanced gaming system.
scepters, they are pretty much the most useless weapon of the game regardless of profession, if it doesn’t lack damage it lacks useful skills.
i would go as far as saying that if one weapon needs a complete overhaul for every profession it’s the scepter.
God yes, the only class its SEMI useful on is Mesmer.
When you wonder about a strange conversation and understand after getting a special item.
What is dis? How do I not know of dis?
I still don’t get it… LOL
So I always rush to the loot. Maybe I should let it sit, it might work better.
You can hold 1 and left click on a standard mouse and your character will keep chucking grenades as well. Can’t imagine that yours is against the ToS.
I know, right? My char slots are all full and I’ve still not played even half of the PS missions…
Im currently on 8 slots. 1 for each class. So still got a ways to go before im close.
ANY underwater weapon. You take your pick.
@Kreejaffa.3682
Those seem creative as hell to me, although they do borrow from other universes.
Dat wooden chest could have been a precursor. :O
Wooden is only for rares, steel chests give precursors/exotics and ascended.
But indeed, needing to respawn after big fights on the other side of the map in wvw and leaving all those bags :S
Thanks! Didn’t know that!
Still hurts though.
@Tom Gore.4035
I am finding it hard to resist creating more character and explore the lore in LS more, you are not making it easier! Shhh! :p
@Dying Infinity.4805
Thanks! Good info.
Still creates questions, but suffice it to say that the dream instills a sense of being in Sylvari (we knew this already) and we can assume that with that same sense of being comes a name.
I alway Main a character named Nichol Fairchild. I was pretty surprised to see NPC “Cousins” ingame
Yay for Lore-relevant name ?
Haha that must have been a pleasant little easter egg to find for you.
@penelopehannibal.8947
RPing is a whole new level of Lore relation. :P
But you must be fun at DnD binges!
alot!
Interesting though.
Asura have honorifics for “first” names : Sevant for example.
Most Sylvari have no second name but choose to adopt one in time if they do have one.
Any idea how their actual name is chosen/given? Never could find info on this.
Hi forum!
Just curious how does everyone feel about lore/race relevant names?
Do you stick to them somehow?
Or how do you name your characters?
Some of my guildies have gotten into the “wordplay naming” which has swiftly become a pet peeve of mine.
What lore drive or race relevant names you proud of?
As I side note, I do have only 1 tribute character to a different franchise.
When you are dead on the ground and there is a lootbag next to your body.
When you run back there after respawn and find nothing.
#LootbagzExpired
You cried? I would have cried.
Dat wooden chest could have been a precursor. :O
when you run down a candy cane bridge and start taking fall damage…
kitten!!!!
So this! Now I need to replicate it so that I can take a Screen!.
Best thread EVER!
And as I said, if cost is your issue, then you can choose NOT to pay for the episodes and just jump in someone else’s instance instead. You won’t get the achievements and rewards associated with it, but that’s going to be a decent tradeoff for not paying 2 bucks.
This makes SOOO much sense.
I’m halfway gearing my full zerker engie when it hit me, is full assassin engie viable in wvw or zerker?
I do not see why you would WANT to build full glass on an Engi.
Why :
Might is SOOO easy to get on them when you have the sustain to build it.
They do not have sustained DPS. More burst. Other than Bomb1 and Nade1, which isn’t ideal with full zerk gear as its ground targeting.
SO much healing skills that will help a LOT to get SOMETHING that sinargizes well with it, Toughness/Healing power. So just wondering how you plan to survive?
Unless you plan on Zerging mostly, in which case the question is pointless as ANY DPS build will work in a Zerg.If you run a Static Discharge setup you got a very high amount of burst without really missing out on utility that much. It’s (still) a very effective setup in WvW and I have had great succes with it.
Pretty sure you run something to keep you alive instead of Full Zerker/Assassin?
Simple put, no.
All these people saying that 2.50 is nothing to a player who can afford a 2 week vacation in here make me laugh. I mean, does nobody work in a place that has holiday time you need to use? Heavens forbid that someone is scrounging to pay for a vacation for their family on top of paying their taxes and real world bills.
Seriously, we all need to stop acting snooty one of these days whenever topics like this come up.
The question here isn’t about it costing less, it’s about the worth of the LS episode. In that account, I agree that mostly all these story entries aren’t worth the cost of 200 gems – the value just isn’t there. I wasn’t particularly happy about paying 800 gems for a unbreakable pick – but it was worth ever one of those gems when I no longer had to constantly switch to mine things, replace broken picks, or deal with it in any way beyond just hitting “f” to interact. A new character slot for 800? Sure, I mean, I’ll get to play the entire game over again with that character in a new style (and possibly some new story selections), and that’s gonna get me at least 20 hours of time if I go for completion. These LS episodes though… I mean, before the whole Carapace armor thing, the rewards were pretty much laughable, and the story took a whole of 30 minutes to an hour to beat – sure, you could get replay out of it with the challenges if you’re that kind of person, but is that really worth 200 gems?
More off topic about it – the part that bothers me is that this was supposed to be a game without a subscription fee, but in order to play the game without logging in during every event and still play the story means you are gonna be paying – particularly with new players. It’s certainly nice that the story segments are available (as the first season is gone to the wind), but the behavior itself comes off in that money-grubbing light that leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Yeah, they need to make money, but it feels like if the already expensive-feeling gemstore isn’t making them enough, maybe they should just switch from the living story over to the classic form of “60 $ expansions for new story content” instead of this other one that feels like it’s punishing people for not playing.
Just my two cents.
Let me just repeat this.
2.50…
You can quiet literally not drink a coffee at StarBucks for 1 day and have enough + a bit…
As for worth, I find it worth more than 2.50. A lot more actually.

MUST HAZ MOAR! I know the feels.
We should get a trailer today sometime though.
An I5 4690K performs JUST as well as a 4790K in ANY game.
I own a I5 3570K overclocked to 4.6GHz, 16GB RAM, Vertex kitten and an HD7950 3GB.
I still drop to high 20s during heavy zerging. Hell Attack on LA got me down to mid teens more often than not.
Hard to recommend a CPU without knowing a lot mreo about your current system, but an I7 ain’t worth it for gaming.
@Asgaeroth.6427 WUT? Pics /vids in this case or it didnt happen. :P
And the I5 3330 is still a perfectly good CPU.
If you miss the stun, supply crate means nothing. Second heal or not, its not OP>
Condi Engi’s always win the waiting game, and that is what the HamBow is weak to.
There have been several engineer players that responded to you, actually. Condi engi doesn’t always win this game, trust me. As for hambow though, I think hammer offers less in terms of fighting an engineer than sword/warhorn does, especially if you trait for warhorn. Sword gives you access to more conditions and warhorn allows you to remove more conditions. Since engineers are weak to conditions and apply lots of conditions, I think that’s the way to go. You’ll still have access to cc through your longbow and utilities.
Condi engineer is more difficult to beat than other professions as a warrior, but it’s far from impossible. When I’m able to get the upper hand as a warrior, I absolutely feel it’s because I understand engineers and what they’re likely to do next. It’s already been said though, if your primary goal is just to beat condi engineers, roll a necro. Watch out for the warriors on that necro though, lol.
Exactly. Condi Engi’s are reactive, not often aggressive, so if you understand the class then you won half the fight. Now to take advantage of the small gaps in their defense, which any class can do, although the necro can just throw a wrench in.
EDIT : I often stand around and wait for an opponent to DO kitten something in WvW before I fully engage to the fight, especially when I am unsure as to what build they are running. Spending HOURS fighting a bunker Ele is not my idea of a good time, and yes this HAS happened to me although hours is a bit of an exaggeration.

Personally I think Vitality is completely useless on an Engi
Given the profession having the most limited access to condition removal, I find the ability survive through absorbing them with more vitality is extremely valuable.
personally im a big proponent of having the equivalent of perma protection by way of duration reduction
+ 1 to This.
:)
I also run Generocity + Torment sigils.
This pops up every few weeks on the forum. Can not bring myself to scorn it just like every other multiple post. Great song. Great moment in the living story, despite Trahearne.
:)
No, and 50 %? Your math is terrible….
Nades are strong, true, but VERY predictable. Either in tight range after a successful disable, or at long range that are easy to dodge. Geez and the damage is EXTREMELY unreliable at anything above 600 range.
FYI
Nades : Power > Condi but ++ with Condi + power.
(edited by Novuake.2691)
Mesmers, so very either or, no cross specs for them, but I will keep an eye here.
Hambows get beaten pretty easily as a condi Engi! Vee Wee never had much trouble beating hambows 1v1 even before the adrenaline nerf! The best Warrior build to beat condi Engi with is the new shoutbow meta build! They can hold out forever 1v1 vs a condi Engi and usually win that matchup because 27k+ health and tons of condi removal while dishing out a lot of condi pressure themselves! I believe the trait setup is 10463! Or 01463! Or 00464! Vee Wee isn’t a Warrior player! Better off asking a Warrior main!
Don’t play D/D Thief in PvP! It’s just bad! Compared to WvW, CnD damage is reduced, your overall damage is reduced because of the lowered ferocity, revealed is 4 seconds instead of 3, and there’s not many things to stealth off of as opposed to WvW where there’s just random deer and oakhearts and whatever to CnD! If you want to play Thief, DP and SD Thieves are the way to go! You’ll have a better chance of beating an Engi as an SD Thief rather than DP but it’s not your job to 1v1 an Engi in the first place especially if it’s a bomb Engi which Thieves are really weak to!
If you want to reliably beat a condi Engi, just roll a condi Necro! There is no harder matchup for a condi Engineer than a condi Necro!
Wahoo! Bye frands!
Glad to see that ACTUAL Engi player responding, everyone seems to be screaming HamBow, and I am like hell do any of these people actually PLAY Condi Engi? :P
Condi Engi’s always win the waiting game, and that is what the HamBow is weak to.
1 word.
NECRO! Engi’s HATE necro’s, more so for Condi engi’s, lesser for Celestial Engi’s.
Warriors never bother me, just watch the status bar, simple enough with Toolkit + Shield damage negation. Oh and 1/3 uptime on vigor.
Personally I think Vitality is completely useless on an Engi, precision means a lot more for you. Yes less tanky, but you apply more burning/bleeding which in turns applies more pressure which buys you more time while they try to clear dem condis and recover.
I would also drop the Celestial completely unless you plan on going for a power based build.
Your utilities are perfect the way they are, although I prefer LoS fighting with the bombkit. But that is obvious preference.
MOST IMPORTANTLY :
Vigor, you have no reliable vigor, so your more responsive damage mitigation (above Pistol and Toolkit) is not available. Swap Blood Injection for Invigorating speed.
FULL Rabid makes the most sense to me, but having 1 ring and and amulet dire is good too for that little bit of burst damage protection for those pesky mesmers.
Only if you like sPVP, which is not for everyone.
Thus, most.
Although the new daily rewards and login rewards are pretty nice for alt leveling, not near as good as PvP though.
