NM complete brain fart, I figured it out.

Ok so I’ve seen posts about razers working, I’m assuming this is because you can change the thumb key pad to represent your 1-0 or your number Key pad. But is there a way to get the extra Buttons on the Steel Series mice to be usable ? Currently the game will only let me bind the Basic mouse buttons (R/L Click, Scroll Wheel, and Page Forward/back) that leaves me with 6 unbindable buttons.

Maybe this is intentional from Anet and maybe its not. I’m just looking to see if anyone has gotten Steel Series extra buttons to work and how.

Thief > Ele when it comes to escaping and surviving. Sure an Ele can probably get away as well but thieves … even more so with the current culling issues … hands down will be better at escaping then an ele.

Ele’s can be CC’d easier and what not, where as thief well just go stealth and leave the fight.

Boy am I glad there was no mass transfers or recruiting before they put the paid transfers into place …. oh wait ….

No, hardcore gaming was Everquest I, (Rallos Zek), and earlier. On Everquest you could be ganked visiting the bank, and lose all your coin, or when you killed someone you got the chance to loot an item off them. With all open world zones, including raid zones, and people fighting for those spots, it could take you up to a year to get a good piece of gear, only to lose it within a day.

Please quit equating real, hardcore PvP with games like Dark Age of Camelot.

I’m fine with you wanting a rank system you can grind out every day, and feel special, but don’t insult the real PvP games that came first by calling anything you do in the newer games, hardcore.

Wouldn’t this defeat the purpose of the signet ? Might as well just take it away from everyone. It makes more sence for some classes then others, Warrior with his arsenal of weapons and heavy armor keeping up with someone in medium armor ? I realise its a fantasy game and there is no realistically about it but lets just say no, everyone should not have run speed signets.

I don’t like zergs, and I don’t like zerging, but I can see where they are needed. I would rather have larger maps and bigger zergs then smaller maps and no zergs.

Actually, they are easier on you for repairs here. In DAoC, items took damage from simple use, here you actually have to die to damage them.

I’ll admit its been a couple years and I was strugling to remember the DAoC repair procedure, all I could remember was how kitten I was when I destroyed my first Artifact.

As someone who played DAoC and War, here’s a few thing that may make more sence.

Mounts, won’t happen, however most classes have speed boosts (ala Bard, Minst, Skald) being a warrior anyone of your banners will give you this.

Keep Defence, I’ll give you DAoC keep defences seemed alot more enjoyable, but warhammer … common who you kidding. Arrow Carts, Ballista, Catapults all can be used to defend, also as someone else mentioned, Pick yourself up a rifle or long bow for the walls.

Dull uninspired locations, I fully agree, 3 cloned maps is blah, and each zone is half the size of any frontier zone, but again its much better then Warhammer.

Repairs, although your armor does break to quickly it is the norm to have to fix it even in DAoC, the difference is your legendary won’t just break beyond repairs one day. Artifacts anyone ?

The siege, I actually quite like, its a good concept they came up with. Blue prints and supplies, it prevents people from just zerging around with a ton of siege with the fire and forget mentallity, you throw down a ram with no supplies around … well you just wasted 6 silver & a ram.

I would suggest giving it some time, once you get the hang of it, its actually quite fun. Your lumped in with 80’s and bolstered true, but its better then being lumped in with fully templated 50’s at a lower level like DAoC yes they had BG’s but there was only 2 active BG’s, or running around a with no one to fight like Warhammer low level RvR.

Once keeps upgrade enough there will be way points available to you if you control those keeps. At first before I understood how the waypoints & general WvW worked I wasn’t sure myself if I would enjoy it, but after learning more about it, and the way everything works, I love it. Theres always going to be things from DAoC that I think were better but this is not DAoC its GW2 and as far as Warhammer, I really can’t think of anything that was better in Warhammer.

I’m not talking about a 50% discount blow out sale, I personally have enough to purchase at full price, and describe off hours ?

Server have different prime times, the current match I’m in atm has 1 server who has almost zero downtime, while my server is NA prime time, and the third server seems to be more oceanic. So what exactly are off hours to you ? Out of the 3 servers 2 of them are almost constantly outmanned.

I actually never played eve for longer then 5 min, so if I’m understanding what your saying, I think that would be a poor design. It would be a popularity contest.

Repair costs & cheaper siege for the outmanned is a good idea, I would add maybe a 10% passisve out of combat speed boost to allowing the smaller population to be able to get around the map faster while dealing with several forces hitting numerous targets at once.

Well, your not going to be able to control where people go so as much as you would like for it to be old Kain Vs. DR it likely won’t work that way.

Speaking from expierence on AR, if DR lost players since you were in our tier, you might be in trouble. DR while they had an impressive population and some good guilds, Kain is much bigger and are seem pretty coordinated (not to say DR was not). This is not a stab at DR, just giving you a heads up Kain is not the server you guys destroyed week after week, be prepared.

Um … Public Forum, you started the thread, you do not own it. People disagree, if you don’t like people disagreeing or putting forth their opinion, you probably shouldn’t start threads.

I wouldn’t be so quick to claim realm ranks would save WvW. Most people are going to find the fastest way to level realm ranks. Period. Let’s face it, integrity in MMO’s is declining at an accelerated rate since the days of DAOC.

Realm ranks could totally destroy WvW as we know it if extreme care isn’t taken to find the right system.

For example, if you use damage as your gauge. People are just going to do more glass cannon builds than they are now. There would be no support characters. They will probably stop taking objectives. Some guilds would organize trading sessions. That is just a few I can think off, I am sure there are more.

I agree, this is why I said they need to be careful. The fact that they are looking into this type of system though gives me hope, I’ve played pretty much every game on the market and have never been impressed with their gear grind PvP systems or what have you. The RR system, although it had its flaws, was imo the best PvP advance system and as you said if its handled correctly then it could be great. If handled poorly well I won’t disagree that some serious damage could be done.

I like what he had to say as well, he also did mention they were fixing many ongoing issues. I guess the OP need them to list every single exploit, or glitch and say yes we are going to fix this. Could you imagine, “yes we are aware of people glitching into X tower, we plan to fix this”, “yes we are aware of people glitching into Y tower, yes we plan to fix this”, “yes we are aware of ……” It would rediculous to expect them to mention every little detail and explain they plan on fixing it.

I think this is a great start on bettering Wv3 for everyone, the rest of the fixing things issues is just common sence that should not need to be pointed out.

I hope they do something like RR’s, I’ve suggested it countless times. They need to be careful if they do that, its not to easy to achieve prestige (rank) levels, the abilities are not OP, and finally I hope any abilities will not be race/class specific. Everyone gets the same abilities (or choices) regardless of class/race.

The ease of achievment is a big one though, DAoC was so simplistic towards the end, RR12’s in a month or two … I remember back around release when it took ALOT of time and effort to get your RR’s.

If prestige is similiar to DAoC’s RR’s then its a great start on bettering Wv3.

Since the dawn of 5/8 manning they have QQ’d about larger numbers (well not all) and in the same breath they will run over a solo without batting an eye.

Were fighting a huge force, this is probably the worst week you could expect to find an even 5 vs. 5.

Keep this in mind next time you come to call people out for numbers.

I believe most people follow the “red is dead” frame of mind in WvW. You’re right, it isn’t skill whether you drop someone 5v1 or 20v5. I think Dylic was implying that there aren’t many small man groups running around, which is a disappointment to us. I just find it funny when I get zerged down while running solo and then get a /laugh. That always makes me smile!

Oh I agree with you on theres not many around, I used to 8man all the time in DAoC and small man when we didn’t have 8 so I can appreciate what your looking for. Its unfortunate but I honestly don’t have time to do the small man thing on a consistent basis. I would love to but it takes time to synergize, time I unfortunately do not have.

I’ll also agree that the /laugh emote should probably just be stripped from PvP, 9/10 its a terrible player that overwhelmed said person or persons with ridiculous numbers.

I’m just saying this week, I wouldn’t expect to see much of any small mans. Kain is to big and even if they tried I’m sure they would pick up 500-1000 straglers unintentionally, and AR well I think its safe to say were fighting as hard as we can with what we have, even if it means those people that like to try and small man are putting it aside for the week, server pride if you will.

Thank you AR and Kain for running ONLY in groups of 10+. Literally every fight we come across is 10+ people. How about tune your skills to be able to run 5 and win some fights…quit using numbers as your winning mechanism. Chumps. And that’s from all of us at PAXA towards your entire server.

Good small mans should be able to handle larger numbers, I’ve seen Paxa do it. Sure its nice if you find a solid 5 Vs. 5 but the expectation that your going to find more and tune your skills to beat them is what being a small man is all about, has been sfor as long as I can remember. Also you have to realize its seems (not saying it is true) that Kain is gunning for AR more so then NSP so we have no choice but to run in larger groups to combat the Kain train. If NSP happens to get in the way with a 5 man, play your fingers to the bone and possibly pull a win, run away, or die.

It doesn’t help…but for what it is worth I understand completely. I know how bad it sucks, and honestly…worse than anything is how horrible it is to the Server Morale, which is VERY hard to recover from. I will also be completely honest: I think every Tier it’s gotten worse…each time I think we get a few more bandwagoners from the Servers Kaineng’s beating. I know I’ve seen other Guilds I don’t recognize, and lots more randoms…Queues are getting to ridiculous times…

Anvil Rock Morale is kinda stick in stone. We as a server have only won twice since the beginning. Just about everyone on the server is loyal to the end.

Many of us are, and while I’m happy to see some prominent guilds still active and fighting, others seemed to have quit, which is not what AR is about.

I wouldn’t doubt it Storm, I’m sure there is already players looking to find a diff server or maybe join Kain. Your right, its very difficult to recover from, once those players are gone they are generally gone for good making an already semi small population even smaller. But the damage is done and all I can do is shake my head at Anet in disgust.

Much respect goes to AR and NSP to some good fights in EB during reset. NSP holding their keep so long impressed me.

Ya, you’ll be dissapointed to hear that you far outnumber DR at this point. However depending on who the other server is, it might not be a complete stomp. BP had a very large force (I’m assuming they still do) and not sure about Mag, they seem to be holding their own.

I don’t think its that anyone feels sorry for you, its more the all of your hard work will be chalked up to transfers. And TBH wihout WM in EB tonight … well things would be much much different. But fear not each tier will get harder and those transfers will vanish and leave you with the excuse “we were just here to practice”

NSP’s biggest problem is not realising a serious threat actually. Kain would be worse off atm if you guys weren’t focused on AR in EB and hitting AR BL. I’m aware its Wv3 and you may do as you like, but the only one that did benefit from your actions was kain give your commanders a pat on the back.

Thnx for the reply, I’m not a big fan of the staff and just can’t see myself using it. After sifting through some older threads I’m wondering if my issue is the Dolyak runes. I’ve seen a few people say go 2X water, 2X monk, and 2X (can’t remember the third), or 4x monk, 2x water. So I’m wondering if thats where I’m going wrong, instead of trying to stack passive regen from Dolyak I should be stacking boon duration/boon effectiveness to get more regen out of the tools I already have.

I’ll keep searching but none the less I appreciate the reply.

I hear alot of people talking about Guardians and regen builds so they are passively regening all the time. I’ve been working on trying to achieve this kind of build for my Bunker build, so far I have the Dolyak Runes and Food, is there more to it ?

I remember at one point in WvW (I’ll admit I was only level 15 or something) but I was nuking an AFK guardian and he was regening at almost the same rate of my damage, again I understand that because of my level my damage was not that of an 80.

Basically, what am I missing, Dolyak runes, Food With passive regen, and theres gotta be more to it after that.

So as a person that generally avoids PvE like the plague, what is it that people are doing in PvE to get said gold. I’m really curious, buying gems on a weekly basis is putting a dent in my bank account and if I could actually make some decent money in PvE then I might be tempted to spend at least a bit of time doing it.

I buy gems and trade for gold, then buy siege and what not. I’m not gunna lie it gets expensive and frustrates the hell out me when I lay down siege only to find out no one grabbed supplies as we passed through supply camp. I’m not sure how you could afford itif you used the coin you earned in wvw exclusively.

Indeed, I think AR should set aside any differences, dislikes and focus on Kain. The Kain train needs to hit a road block, I’m hoping that road block is AR. Tomorrow night we dine in hell!!

Despawns after 30 min, timer is reset if a player mans the siege. There Is a limit though not sure how many, it will not let you build more once the limit has been reached.

All very interesting ideas, I would like to see rewards addressed first though. There needs to be a point to wv3 besides gear and battling. I would love to see ranks added with either passive abilities or new minor use abilities every 5 ranks.

Either way even if kain does severly outnumber us, your going to get a fight every inch of the way, AR won’t lay down and die, we’ll go down kicking and screaming if need be. I’m sure the same could be said for either NSP or DH

NO. In every other MMO the logout timer gets exploited and will be even easier in GW2 (cuz u can get easier out of fight by running)…
I play WVW a lot since beta…and I dont have any D/C issues at all. Since release i got kicked maybe once or twice?
Clearly the problem lies on your side.
1. Kick WLAN out of the (RL^^) window… serious gamer dont use WLAN after all, guess why…

2. Do some Speed Test on your Inet connection.

3. Optimize your Network/Router connection (i.e. via TCP Optimizer)

4. Do some SpeedTest again

By default you mostly dont have the best connection with a “fresh” windows plus “not-quite-right-for-your-ISP” configured router…

I don’t get this, how would a timer make it easier ? typically if you move from the log out position the timer disables and you have to start all over. It would be rediculous to think they would add a log out timer that allows you to run away as it ticks down.

Don’t feel bad. Thieves pick on newer players a lot. You will get better with practice.

Seriously thieves are weak. I always kill them first so I have no one to add to this list.
