It was just a suggestion. I don’t care if they add a condition or a boon but the staff surely needs some tweaks right now. Even for a UTILITY weapon the gained UTILITY is mediocre at best. There are other UTILITY weapons in the game that feel a hundred times more useful then the Rev staff.

Still the staff skills are lacking.

At least one of the skills should apply a condition, mostly confusion. The skills are mediocre at best. And those healing orbs last for 2 seconds, that’s nothing. And the skill 2 counter is awful, too.

The staff is lacking something. Yes, it’s a support weapon but it’s just bad right now.

How Viable is the Healer Revenant?

Hey there, nice thread!

I am thinking about a healing Revenant and this would be my build:

What do you think? (Very similar to what misterdevious said)

And can anybody explain Natural Abundance to me? When are those fragments created? Everytime when I use ANY of the centaur skills (so skill 6-10) or when?

The Orbs created by the staff have a very short lifespan… is that working as intended?

Advice needed - ranged Condi/healer builds

Nyel.1843

Hey there,

I just returned to GW2 and I am looking for a class that’s either very effective in healing or has a decent amount of viable condition builds.

I tried the Revenant with a condition build (Revenant is a good healer – at least that’s what people told me) but it’s a mid-range build and I don’t like that much.

Can anybody tell me what’s the class with the (or one of the) best condition ranged builds right now?

And I really would love to hear some experience with healing, which class is a very viable healer now.

Thanks!

Hey there,

I just returned to GW2 (yeah, HoT brought me back) after I abandoned playing roughly 1.5 years ago.

I saw that they made many changes to the attributes, the whole skill system and many other things and I am a bit confused right now.

What happened to a Mantra Mesmer? Is there a viable build using Mantras? Where are all those Mantra passives? The last time I played there have been 4, 5 to buff Mantras but right now I don’t see any of them? (maybe I just missed them but…)

I want to see:

  • An additional trait segment so that you can spent 40 points with a new minor and a new master trait ( 2 new master traits per trait line so that you have a choice ). I know, at least 180 new traits for ANet but yes. Would be great.
  • New weapon combinations. I want a MH pistol for my Mesmer!!!
  • New skills – maybe 1 elite per class
  • Some kind of timewarp so that you can replay the whole living story ( would be awesome )

Nyel.1843

Hey!

My Mesmer hit level 80 two days ago and I am just blown away by the things to do first at 80. To be honest: I don’t know what to do.

I don’t know what to do, what to play, how to play, where to go, what to gather and so on – my first character at level 80 although I played from beta on with some bigger breaks…

In addition my Elementalist hit level 80 yesterday, too. Thanks to tailoring…

The thing is, I want to play a Mesmer. Love the playstyle and I love my clones. And that is why I am opening this thread – because I am asking for your advice.

So can you help me?

Would be grateful if I get some answers to my questions…
… what should I do first? And after that? What then? …

What would you suggest me to do first, what are important things at 80 to do?

Mainly I am playing PvE but I got some serious interest in PvP / WvW too. And I want to farm materials for my two professions.

Some questions that come to my mind:

• Which build is good for (AoE) farming?
• Which weapons should I choose?
• Which equip?
• Where should I farm and what especially?
• What should I “learn” as a new Mesmer on level 80?
• Legendary weapons? Precursors? Ascended gear? Whaaaaaaat?

I would be very thankful if you could help me!

Thanks.

Go for SW:TOR and the new TESO. The races there are generic and boring. And in equip they look all the same. Same height, same width… just boring. I love the GW2 races because of their diversity, culture and humor.

It’s funny how WoW smashes all the other F2P MMORPGs despite the fact that it is subscription based…

I think there is a huge difference between the GW2 shop and other shops. We have no mounts and no insane amount of pets. If ANet would sell them, GW2 revenue would be over $100million for sure. But they don’t. At least the GW2 shop is less p2w than the SW:TOR one is.

Not sure you checked our morphing abilities. Brilliant idea and definately synergy there.

I checked it. Synergy? Haha yes. I am talking about passive Synergy classes have got. WoW, Rift, GW2, everywhere. That’s what is missing in ESO and that is the point why the combat in TESO will alway feel wack and boring.

Nyel.1843

So the skill system is vastly superior to GW2 where you simply apply points across 5 lines. Not saying GW2 is a bad system, its a step up from WoW and such, but TESO definately takes the cake with its talent system.

Combat is definately a lot slower than GW2. And Its taken me a long time to wrap my head around it and get used to it, but now I take it for what it is and its not totally horrible.

No it’s not. And I can tell you why: there are no synergy or passive related traits that are “tactical”.

In TESO you got a huge amount of skills, but they are very similar and there is nothing special about them, despite the class ones. Additionally, you can nowhere near the GW2 options build a character. I love my GW2 traits and I miss something like that in ESO. In the end every player will be the same due to the fact there is a “deeper” system behind the skills missing.

I like the way TESO wanted to go with its quantity of skills, but it failed because of the missing quality the system has got. I love synergy and tactics behind different playstyles and ESO only offers a hand full of them without being anytime tactical.

So Wildstar release is June 3rd. Nice to know that now.

If you don’t like GW2, it’s time for a break FOR YOU I think. I think ANet is doing a quite good job. And I am excited for March 18.

GW2 is a mediocre trash game.

The playstyle is awful. The combat is like B&S but only 10 times slower. And the skill system is quite awful, you can’t come up with any tactical component due to the fact that the skill system is shallow, boring and completely uninspired.

The game is hyped into heaven and has got the GW-brand, but many ppl will realize at least one month of playing, how awful the game is in the end and they all will come back.

Where B&S has heart and polish, GW2 lacks both. Maybe 1-2 months this game will be a “danger” because of the “WOW ITS NEW” factor. After that it will take the SW:TOR path into oblivion.

Look, I can make up things too. Fixed your post to point out how generic it is.

Sure, you can do that. The difference is, my “opinion” is nearer to the truth than yours.

More information on this feature release will come available after the current living world arc wraps up.

Well, last week the last of the 4 patches was release.

The final living world release has been stated to be coming on the 18th. It will only be a summary release to recap the story from what I have read.
People are winding themselves up tighter than is healthy.

This.

Living Story will end March 18. And after that the time for the feature patch has come. But after that doesn’t mean March 19 or March 20.

Mantras - what's ANets aim with them?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Nyel.1843

Nyel.1843

You are right. I am using 3 Mantras right now and it’s … an overload of work. Use them, recharge them AND use 1-5 with your weapons and weapon change is incredibly difficult to manage.

I am trying “Halting Strikes” because of the really decent damage you do with an interrupt – but hell it is quite impossible to manage your weapon attacks, the Mantras and to see clearly when you have to interrupt.

I hope, ANet is doing something with the Mantras, I really like them. Just give me one of my suggested ones and I will be happy…

The problem is, the channeling isn’t bad. It’s just too long. To heal while you charge them and the have toughness is a good thing. But maybe just 1,5 seconds and not 2 3/4. There is no good balance between charges – CD – channeling. They just have to adjust it.

As I mentioned somewhere else:

We need no Cantha and we need no Elona.

We have got:

Magus Falls
Maguuma Desert
Ring of Fire
Janthir Isles
Home of the Blood Legion
Deldrimor Front
Wooland Cascades
Scavangers Causeway
Far Shiverpeak Mountains
Crystal Desert

Hell only with the Janthir-area they could fill a complete expansion. Every of this regions is big enough to contain 3-4 zones at least. That are more than 40 zones within the map we got NOW. That is incredibly huge.
I think with LS 2 we will go to the Magus Falls and get some story about Malyck and the other pale tree and that will for sure take +1 year to finish ( with Mordremoth ). Hell, I never saw a game with so many potential like this. There is enough space for them to add zones in the visible map for 10 years.

The actual map is so huge, that there is no need in other continents for the next years.

I am sure they will open up (more than one!) zone in Magus Falls, dealing with Mordremoth and its story.

Mantras - what's ANets aim with them?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Nyel.1843

Nyel.1843

So, the main problem seems to be the “mechanics” behind them not the Mantras itself.

Right now I am missing two Mantras and maybe some Trait-adjustments, then it would be great.

I think we need…

… a Mantra, that causes Conditions, that deal damage. As I mentioned above. Burning, Poison, Confusion, Torment, Bleeding. I prefer Torment, Confusion & Poison. ( 3 of them, heck 2 of them would be okay – but for sure Torment ).

… an Elite-Mantra or something like that, that charges our Mantras INSTANT and has now 3 minute CD. 90 seconds CD would be quite high but not overpowered. But we urgently need something like this.

Maybe some Traits:

  • If your Mantra misses the target, the charge is not consumed
  • Maybe alter the GM to 4 instead of 3 charges ( and adjust the heal Mantra if it would be too powerful )
  • Reduces induction time by 33%

With something like that, Mantra Builds could be competitive and great – I think, I hope.

. I expect TESO to fail like SW:TOR due the fact that the game is mediocre in every way. Only the brand will sell 2-3 million copies until everybody realizes, how bad TESO as an MMORPG really

You do realize swtor isn’t a fail, right?
Last year alone it made well over twice as much money as gw2 did.

SW:TOR ist for sure a fail – or has been a fail. The cartel market is their cash cow releasing kittenty stuff like live day in a Star Wars universe. So yes, they are making money with their shop. That’s it. And you can’t even compare GW2 with SW:TOR in terms of quality despite GW2 is free2play and SW:TOR isn’t.

I think ANet is doing very well with their decisions of the b2p model. TESO will mostly fail because of the p2p AND the mediocre quality it delivers. P2P requires high quality, polishing and so on.

Sorry, it’s far from a fail.
And for the record gw2 isn’t f2p and swtor is f2p.

The game has been a fail from launch on. That it’s making a good revenue now because of micro transactions is not really what everybody wanted and suggested. You know the most expensive video game ever made sold roughly 2,5 million copies and went within the first year free to play. No, it’s a huge success.

I know SW:TOR is doing better now, but from a tremendous success it is VERY FAR away. In comparison, GW2 sold within 1,5 years 4 million units and they add something to the world every 2-4 weeks. And the LA event is a HUGE thing. Tell me how can ANet do something BioWare needed more than 1,5 years to do?

Sorry, we don’t have to talk about it. Guild Wars 2 is in terms of quality in every part superior to SW:TOR. But maybe it’s just the opinion of the “most”, not of everybody.

We’re missing the topic right now. I like Wildstar. But I doubt that GW2 has to be anxious about it.

@ Azreell

GW2 not on that list… you know why? Because it offers quite less crappy stuff like SW:TOR with their 10000 coloured mounts and their ugly equip. And their boxes because of which they make their revenues. Because of gambling.
